Hi, great guide and great build! It was really good. I can play on T13 and T13 Rifts easily but I really deal no damage on GRifts from 60 onwards. I am Paragon 655 and have exactly the build showed here. Any tips? Thanks!

Quick notes:

- Some of your items are incorrect with respect to the guide: Oculus Ring instead of Unity, Sledge Fist instead of Crystal Fist.

- A lot of your gear is not ancient, most importantly - your weapons. This hurts your damage a great deal, on top of the fact that you can't augment non-ancient gear with the Caldesann enchant, further reducing your damage potential.

- From the items that are correct, many don't have the needed stats. Jewelry and Helm are missing crit stats, Armor pieces are missing important Toughness and/or Damage rolls (Pants & Boots particularly).

- Boring tip, but more Paragons and Legendary Gem levels will make a huge difference.

Thanks for your tips! I changed Unity because I had no other to equip my companion and Sledge Fist because I do not usually die, but I used them both before. I am trying hard to find more ancients, but no luck so far. But I did not pay enough attention to the stats I think.

Will keep improving my gear. Great thanks!

I feel like I'm hitting WAY harder using the Incense Torch than the 1-handers.  My torch is not even ancient and I don't even have a socket in it.  Whereas my 1-handers are ancient and have green gems in both.  Only thing I'm missing by using the torch is the affix on the Crystal fist, which I feel like I don't really need because I'm pretty good at keeping out of trouble.  Also, another benefit of using the torch is you attack slower and therefore don't blow through spirit and SW stacks nearly as much.  This allows me to easily run Magefist in the cube instead of Cindercoat, while missing the extra VW stacks even less.  I haven't pushed really high GR's yet using the torch (I've easily completed GR68 with tons of time left).  But, unless the Crystal Fist affix becomes completely necessary in higher GR's, it seems using the torch is a way better option (cube the Kyoshiro).  Any thoughts on this?  Am I missing something here?

You've answered your own question here. That damage reduction from the fist becomes necessary as soon as you start pushing higher rifts. You will feel extremely fragile without it at 75+.

Hey! Thanks for making this guide, it's pretty solid. I'm somehow "new" to the game, I started playing seriously in the last season, and the monk caught my attention for this one. During my playthrough, I found a fist weapon called Vengeful Wind , and I thought this could make a good synergy with the build, but as I'm not a veteran player, I wanted to ask for your point of view.

Hello :) You can use Vengeful Wind as your offhand with Kyoshiro's for speedruns, but for Greater Rift pushing it is recommended to switch to the Crystal Fist for the damage reduction. You can be more trigger-happy with Vengeful Wind though, which is nice for speedruns.

Why isn't the offhand treated as a stat stick?  I thought WoL only used mainhand damage, so wouldn't it be more useful to replace the damage range on the offhand for rcr or something?

From what I remember in Davlok's testing, WoL alternates between MH/OH.

PTR notes are claiming the Epihany bug is fixed, interesting since this build was nerfed in recent patches.  I had a lot of fun with WoL in S6, but that Monk was gone once the less-damage-under-the-bell bug started limiting GRs.  Since the PTR doesn't have the bonus drop rate anymore (boo hiss!) I don't have a Monk to try this claimed bug fix, anyone dust off a WoL build and try it on the PTR yet?

At least on live right now, I'm finding WoL absolutely fine. I'm using it to speed farm 70s and there's no issues at all. I haven't tried actually pushing with it yet, though.

Hi Deadset. Do you think the new Flawless Royal TopazFlawless Royal Topaz pulls ahead of Flawless Royal DiamondFlawless Royal Diamond (in helm) in terms of WoL spam? IE the base cost reduction vs reducing the cd on air ally.

I would definitely stick with the Diamond for GRifts. You could possibly take the Topaz for speed farming, but you are still in a position of being limited somewhat by Sweeping stacks.

Testing result sow that WOL casted by mimic did not benefit from SWK 6p bonus. So the damage added is minimal at best.

Thanks for the excellent guide!  I'm still new to all of 'Blizzard's Diablo Math' and theorycrafting...  My question pertains to why Bane of the TrappedBane of the Trapped over Bane of the PowerfulBane of the Powerful ?  The buff+passive is +35% dmg and +15% dmg reduction *from elites*, while the Trapped would have to be level ~67 to get +35%.

I'm assuming because Trapped is multiplicative and Powerful is additive, but wasn't sure.  Just wanted to clear the air, thanks!

I've been playing WoL Monk using this build for a while now. How do you deal with small fast critters (sometimes spawning from the environment) that suck on your Sweeping Wind stacks, often making it fall off completely? Or do I just need to play very slow with this build?

Hey guys,

I am 1100 paragon, and since I had been collecting all of the required items (ancient), I decided to give this build a shot. I have to say that I wasn't impressed. I really wanted to like the build, but came to the conclussion that you run this build you are either a masochist, or haven't tried any other builds. :)

Maintaining the stacks of sweeping wind is enough to make anyone go crazy. This was especially bothersome when killing a rift guardian that pulls you in/teleports or in "room" maps. Losing sweeping wind means you make 0 damage.

In summary, if you love skipping around, watching your spirit, keeping your eyes glued to the skills bar to make sure your wind is up, and that you are on the fire cycle to make any damage, this is the build for you. While I am sure this build can be played effectively, it's a ton of work.

I much recommend Inna pet/inna generator/SSS over this one.

Trapped is constantly up and requires no external activator such as clearing a pack of elites. It also ends up adding more damage than Power.

This was obviously a while ago, but picking it up now in case any want to know - this build is very firmly placed in the mid to low tiers. It's not particularly strong compared to others, but can be decent at clearing packs. I personally do not use it, ever.

With the upcoming changes on to the Sunwuko set, I was able to easily clear a GR80 in 4 minutes with only 850 paragon.   Gear equipped was mostly ancient, with only 1 primal and 2 non-ancients.  Used a Vengeful Wind to get 10 stacks of Sweeping Wind for the 6,000% bonus.   Pretty sure this build would be able to push higher level GRs, as my gear isn't spectacular.

A brand new season arrives in Diablo 3 next month! Blizzard have the full preview ready so let's take a look at the cosmetic rewards, season journey, Haedrig's Gift sets, and more!
      Season 33 (Source)
Sanctuary needs you to answer its call for aid in Season 33: Shades of the Nephalem. Starting on October 25 at 5 p.m. PDT/CET/KST, Nephalem can harness the power of the Shades of the Nephalem theme, which first debuted with Season 22. For an in-depth look at what’s coming, take a gander below. Also, Season 32 will officially come to an end on October 20. Seasonal Journey
      Season Theme
      Season Cosmetic Rewards
      Season Journey Rewards
      Seasonal Conquest
      Haedrig’s Gift
      Patch 2.7.8
      Season Theme
The shadows, they are moving, and they seem… animated. Like they have a will of their own. Whatever this trickery is, perhaps you can use it to your advantage. Let’s see what the demons say when you fight side by side with your own shadow! Shadows of the Past: Activating a Shrine/Pylon will spawn in a shadow clone of your class, who will come with a randomly chosen 1 of 3 predetermined builds. This clone's power will scale with your character and will last for 1 minute (unless your character dies). See this article for the shadow clone variations that can spawn when activating. Kanai’s Cube: Kanai’s Cube will have a fourth slot this season. This fourth slot will have the choices of the first 3 slots but will not stack with any of them, providing additional flexibility to your build. Return to Top Season Cosmetic Rewards
Beginning with Season 17, we began re-introducing previous Seasonal rewards to make them available to any who may have missed them the first time around. For Season 33, this means awards originally available from Season 9 are returning to the Season Journey. However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve already participated in previous Seasons. We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic rewards for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Prove your worth in the Trial of Tempests to earn the Stupendous Contraption pet and the Industrial Portrait Frame.
In addition to the Chest and Gloves slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, you’ll be able to earn the Pandemonium portraits, and the cute and craggily Rocky pet first introduced in Season 9. Return to Top Season Journey Rewards
If you’ve been diligently slaying demons before and reached Conqueror in the Season Journey each time, you’ve surely accrued a few extra stash tabs. You’ll earn one additional tab each Season by finishing the Conqueror tier, up to a maximum of five: Guardian of Sanctuary: Finish a Level 70 Nephalem Rift on Torment XIII difficulty within five minutes. Gem of My Life: Level three Legendary Gems to level 55. All I Do is Win: Complete 2 Conquests this Season. Life Goes On: Kill Maghda at Level 70 in under fifteen seconds on Torment XIII difficulty. Money Ain’t a Thang: Slay Greed on Torment XIII difficulty. Treasure Goblins outside of Nephalem Rifts will sometimes open portals to Greed’s domain, The Vault. Take U There: Reach Greater Rift Level 60 Solo. Greater Rift keystones can be obtained from any Nephalem Rift guardian. Power Amplification: Use Kanai’s Cube to augment an Ancient Legendary item with a Level 50+ gem. Cubic Reconfiguration: Use Kanai’s Cube to reforge a Legendary item. Return to Top Seasonal Conquest
Want to prepare your Conquest plan for Season 33? Here are the challenges you’ll face: For Curses!/Stars Align, pick any Cursed Chest event that requires killing monsters and defeat over 350 or more at level 70 on Torment X or higher. Also returning for Season 33 is Sprinter/Speed Racer, where you’re challenged to complete the entire Diablo III campaign from Act I to Act V at Level 70 in under an hour! Next is Avarice/Avaritia, where all that glitters is gold—that is, if you can complete a 50 million Gold streak outside of The Vault or its Inner Sanctum. We're also bringing Thrill/Superhuman, which requires completion of a Greater Rift Level 45—solo and without any Set items equipped. And lastly we'll be bringing back Speed Demon/Need for Speed, meaning you'll need to beat a Torment X Nephalem Rift at Level 70 in 2 minutes. Best of luck! Return to Top Haedrig’s Gift
Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works: Completing Acts II, III, and IV of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts. Each Gift contains a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. Players can only unlock one Class Set in this manner per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so choose wisely! The set you receive depends on the class of the character you’re playing when you open each Haedrig’s Gift. To collect a full Class Set, you’ll need to open all three on the same character. Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 33: Barbarian - Might of the Earth Crusader - Thorns of the Invoker Demon Hunter - The Shadow's Mantle Monk - Monkey King's Garb Witch Doctor - Raiment of the Jade Harvester Wizard - Firebird's Finery Necromancer - Grace of Inarius Return to Top Patch 2.7.8
Our next patch goes live on October 22 and introduces quality-of-life updates for demon slayers on Mac. New Mac Executables/Mac Native Silicon and Intel: These updates will allow Diablo III to run on new versions of the macOS. PC Experience Stability: This PTR is open to both Mac and PC players. While the focal point of the 2.7.8 PTR is to test technical updates for Mac, we want PC users to monitor their playing experience as well. If you experience any stability issues or difficulties in connecting with Mac players, please give us that feedback. Return to Top

Season 32 of Diablo 3, Ethereal Memory, will go live later today, and we have prepared a list of various useful and updated guides to help you get started!
The Season of Ethereal Memory will start later today at 5 p.m. PDT (NA Servers), 5 p.m. CEST (EU Servers), and 5 p.m. KST (Asian Servers). The theme of Season 32 was first introduced with Season 24 and is now back for another round!
      What are Ethereal Memories?
The theme of the season reintroduces the Ethereals, which are rare and powerful items known from Diablo II and reimagined for Diablo III. You will be able to hunt for all 21 iconic weapons of Diablo 2 during the season, but this time they will be harder to find and will only drop in Ancient or Primal rarity!

To help you with the start of this new season, our team has been busy updating all of our Diablo 3 guides to reflect all the changes ahead of the season launch. You can find our Season 32 Hub, as well as guides for leveling, the season mechanic, rankings, season start guides for each class, and even conquest guides, in the list below.

Previous season items make their return this season. If you missed out on rewards originally available in Season 8, you will be able to get them this time. Furthermore, the end of journey rewards (originally introduced in Season 17) are back: The Teganze Warrior portrait frame and the Bat pet!

As an interesting side note, the portrait frame you can earn this season is named after Teganze, a zone that was first introduced in Diablo 2 and will be revisited during our journey in the upcoming expansion of Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred!

Season 32 in Diablo 3 starts on July 12 and here is the official preview with more details.
      (Source)
Sanctuary needs you to answer its call for aid in Season 32: Ethereal Memory. Starting on July 12 at 5 p.m. PDT/CET/KST, Nephalem can harness the power of the Ethereal Memory theme, which first debuted with Season 24. For an in-depth look at what’s coming, take a gander below.

      Seasonal Journey
      Season Theme
      Season Cosmetic Rewards
      Season Journey Rewards
      Seasonal Conquest
      Haedrig’s Gift
      Season Theme
As the Nephalem reflect on Sanctuary's history, instruments of power from a bygone era resurface. These ethereal memories will grant those persistent enough to search for them unimaginable power. Legends of the past will manifest once more in the present, and you must decide how to best use these gifts—for ethereal power is fugacious by nature, and will soon return to being no more than a myth.
For this seasonal theme, we were inspired to reimagine how Ethereal items could manifest in Diablo III, with 21 iconic weapons making a return from Diablo II. In Season 32, Ethereals are rare, powerful, and fleeting items.
Season 32 reintroduces Ethereals, a weapon-type that players will be able to acquire and hunt for in their upcoming seasonal journey. Ethereals will roll a powerful set of affixes, a random Class Weapon Legendary Power and a random Class Passive Power. Ethereals will have unique icons, names, item types, and sounds originally found in Diablo II. For additional details on Ethereals, check out the list below:
Ethereals are account bound and can only be dropped by monsters, chests, and destructibles, but do not require your character to be Level 70 in order to drop. Ethereals cannot be acquired through Kanai's Cube or from Kadala. Ethereal rarity drop rate is set between Ancient and Primal items. There are 3 unique Ethereals per class. Each Ethereal has fixed affixes and rolls one random Legendary Weapon power and one random Class Passive Skill. Only one Ethereal can be equipped at a time. Ethereals ignore item durability loss. Legendary Powers and Class Passive Skills rolled on Ethereals do not stack with the same power equipped through Kanai's Cube, Items or Skills. Ethereals cannot be Enchanted, Transmogrified, Dyed, Reforged, or traded. Ethereals can be augmented. Collecting all 21 Ethereals during the season will reward players with the Feat of Strength, Ethereal Recollection. Players who accomplish this will have all Ethereal transmogrify options available for future seasonal and non-seasonal play. Ethereals only drop in Seasonal play and will not transfer to your non-seasonal character when the season ends. Return to Top

Beginning with Season 17, we began re-introducing previous Seasonal rewards to make them available to players who may have missed them the first time around. For Season 32, this means awards originally available from Season 8 are returning to the Season Journey.

We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic rewards for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Feast your eyes upon the Teganze Warrior Portrait Frame and Bat pet!

In addition to the Boots and Pants slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, you’ll be able to earn a series of portrait frames that smolder with demonic fires of the Burning Hells. The iconic wings of Andariel will also be available once more, allowing you to truly embrace your inner Maiden of Anguish.

      Season Journey Rewards
If you’ve been diligently slaying demons for the past few Seasons and reached Conqueror in the Season Journey each time, you’ve surely accrued a few extra stash tabs. You’ll earn one additional tab each Season by finishing the Conqueror tier, up to a maximum of 5:

      Haedrig’s Gift
Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey (courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift) have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works:
Completing Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts.
Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 32:
Barbarian – Immortal King’s Call Crusader – Seeker of the Light Demon Hunter – Natalya’s Vengeance Monk – Uliana’s Stratagem Necromancer – Trag’Oul’s Avatar Witch Doctor – Spirit of Arachyr Wizard – Vyr’s Amazing Arcana
