Popalong 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) Hey I"m trying to get the whole proper usage of Hand of Guldan straight in my head. I apologise if this seems a silly question, and if I've over-simplified. So this is how I have it figured.... Is this right? Does this make sense? So from the time the second cast, with the double stack of shadowflame drops off, do I wait the extra 18 seconds until the second charge of HoG comes up, so I can do this same sequence again? Thank you again for your help. Pop Edited March 7, 2015 by Popalong
Liquidsteel 279 Report post Posted March 7, 2015 Yes, you wait for the second charge, however make sure you cast the first charge before the second fully fills, so as to not waste any of the cooldown. Ideally anywhere from 1 to 4 seconds before.
Popalong 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) So at around 26 seconds (ish) from the start of the cycle? And I do NOT cast again at 16 seconds when the 1st charge comes back up again. Edited March 7, 2015 by Popalong
Liquidsteel 279 Report post Posted March 7, 2015 You only want to cast HoG when you know it will result in a 2 stack, be that due to 2nd charge coming off cooldown or already having a 2 stack rolling and having a 4pc proc occur with enough time left to account for travel time. ertai 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2015 So when you have the 4P bonus; it's better casting HOG as soon as you can have 2 stacks (2 charges or 1 charge and 4 sec left on the cd) and pray the god of rng to have a 4P proc and be able to launch a third HOG before losing stacks? Or is it safer to wait for having 2 charges and 9 seconde left on the cd in order to be able to launch 3 HOG in any case (with or without 4P procs)?Doing that way we can assure 3 HOG min and even more if 4P proc during that time. Liquidsteel 279 Report post Posted March 8, 2015 The trade off of waiting and sitting on 2 charges for a while is that you run the risk of wasting HoG cooldown should you get a 4pc proc. Sometimes I will do as you said when Dark Soul is approaching, so I can guarantee a full 2 stack when it's up. I haven't seen concrete evidence to support either method. It's good practice to never cap charges, however rolling 2 stack for longer is certainly a DPS gain. I think you should play how you want to and see if it works, if it does, great, if it doesn't, you can try a different approach.
