[Archived] S20 Hearthstone Priest Fatigue Control GvG

I do not see the reason to include the shredder and gilblin stalker in this deck. They both seem to not play in this deck very well. I have been playing this deck for about 15 games now and i do not think they really fit the deck but I may just not be using them correctly. I got demoted from 6 full stars to 7 1 star and i was wondering why they are included.

Gilblin is to facilitate the early game curve into Velen's Chosen, by having that extra sticky card in your deck to play early, you really increase your chances of being able to get a Velen's in play on curve.

Shredder is just a super powerful card, and is included in most decks right now just because of how much value it represents.

For some reassurance, Savjz is currently playing this deck in one of the biggest tournaments of the year, and he's even running two Gilblins.

Is there anything we can replace Lightbomb with?

Same question here - i don't have any lightbombs and would appreciate replacement suggestions.

Lightbomb is really important, since its insurance for your Deathlord. You play Deathlord when you have a Lightbomb in hand, and then just get extra value once their minion drops.

Thanks Sottle, this deck is super challenging to play.  Responding as to my own experiences playing this deck,

Gilbins:  Really good card for this deck.  Its sticky and makes a great Velen's target and when it falls into curve makes the transition to mid game much smoother.

Sylvanas:  Simple answer is no, but if you have two mind controls you can take advantage of Sylvanas' deathrattle ability.  This is very very suboptimal.  When in doubt, substitute Dr. Boom (if you have one) or Emperor Thaurissan.

The explanations about this deck emphasize the importance of landing on curve with your early minions.  This can't be over emphasized.  The deck suffers heavily against aggro decks with a slow start.  I substituted Emperor out of Blackrock for one of the Cabal Priests.  While mileage always varies, Thoughtsteals, Northshire Clerics and Emperor Thaurissan give you a ton of synergy and can give you a ton of mid to late game horsepower.

This deck is new.  Consider Emperor Thaurissan and Grim Patron if your transition to late game feels less than stellar

In reference to a sub for Sylvanas;

The ONLY substitute I can think of would be Vol'Jin. You can run a giblin into the affected minion afterwards, light bomb, or holy nova combo. It serves many of the same purposes as Sylvanas with much more reliance on having cards to work off of your initial Vol'jin play

It's a sub par substitution but the best I've come up with.

Sylvanas is just super important to almost any Priest deck, such a powerful minion for the class.

Sottle i just love playing this deck, been playing it for 4 days and im currently 44-28 rank 8, grinding from rank 20.

against druid and hunter (mid range or face) have over 83% wins.

rest of classes are ok 50-60% but the problem for me is paladins and rogues (2-5 and 3-4 so far, thank god i dont get many of them).

also, i dont have sylvanas and swapped her for loatheb (because reasons xD ).

Sottle i know the sylvanas is powerful etc etc , but do you think i can replace her for something better than loatheb?

last thing, i added crazed alchemist and another gilblin for the zombie chows and im quite happy with this swap, the alchemist already won me some games and the battlecry can really turn the game allowing you for (even more) crazy combos.

sry for long post xD.

I absolutely would not replace Sylvanas in this deck, or any Priest deck for that matter.

Glad you're having success with it though.

Gone 6-2 with this deck in casual so far, with only one opponent having a pretty sub-optimal deck.  I find it a welcome relief from normal priest control and have won those matches in a variety of ways (speaking to the descriptions of the deck being quite flexible).  I do not have the lightbombs right now so I'm running an extra Sludge Belcher and Shrinkmiester since it gives me another combo option, even though obviously niether really replaces Lightbomb.

The biggest relief has been against aggro.  Aside from one match with a horrible starting hand (nothing but spells even after mulligan) I've dealt with Face Hunter and a Midrange Pally surprisingly well and a zoolock managed to keep things close with me.

Anyways, fun deck, glad it was posted, and I'm working on getting those Lightbombs.

This deck just is not working against ANY aggro decks.  Especially mech mages and agro druids.

Then you are likely misplaying, this deck is favoured in both of those matchups.

why this deck doesn't run Resurrection?

Because the cards included are of higher value than a card that can simply resummon a 1 Mana card for 2 Mana. This deck doesn't even run Injured Blademaster, which is one of the strongest cards with Resurrect.

need a little bit help :)

so, with this deck i rushed rank5 really fast, even crafted sylvanas 2 days after my last post.

the problem now is im facing 80%+ warlocks aaaand its a pain. in theory i know the lightbombs and deaths are good vs handlock, but the amount of big drops is unreal when lord jaraxxus hits the board. i have no problems downing them to <5 hp but after that im not able to do even 1 damage to the face lol. i find myself only winning vs lock when i get good thoughtsteals like 2 hellfires or jaraxxus to finish them off.

any tweaks i can do to improve or do i just embrace that priest is somewhat unable to deal with this? (i may be missplaying ofc..)

I have played over 100 games with this deck and I love it! It beats most Hunters and Mages in current meta and its pretty strong against other classes too.

I have tested Emperor Thaurissan, Loatheb and Auchenai Soulpriest (or Dr. gg) instead of Gilbin Stalker and two Piloted Shredders. Those cards are mixing curve a bit but I have had better success against Druid, Warrior and Warlock.

This deck is not valid. I've been testing it extensively for two weeks now. The times that it worked were few and based on a huge dose of luck. Almost every class/player I've played against had little trouble removing my Deathlord early on with almost no consequence for them. It happened way too often that my opponent pulls a free Shredder or Sludge Belcher, which is hard to remove so early on. A huge setback.

The times it did work were scarce, but when it did.. it was magical. Not anything that can get you consistent wins though.

Then you are probably playing it poorly, I assure you this deck is still valid. It was used recently by a good friend of mine to qualify through a huge open bracket for the Gfinity Masters.

Do you take requests? I'd love to see you play a couple of rounds on Twitch with this deck. I honestly don't think I can play this deck any better/more effective. I'm playing it exactly as intended, yet I can't compete with it rank 10 and up. The 'sticky' early minions are wiped away too easily.

Hearthstone is taking a bold step into the StarCraft universe with "Heroes of StarCraft: The Great Dark Beyond," a 49-card mini-set launching in January 2025.
Featuring iconic factions like Zerg, Protoss, and Terran, complete with legendary leaders Sarah Kerrigan, Artanis, Jim Raynor, this set blends StarCraft nostalgia with Hearthstone's gameplay.
Additionally, Arena Mode is getting a massive overhaul, introducing shorter Normal Arena runs and a high-stakes Underground Arena with a game matching "re-draft on loss" mechanic, giving you the option to re-draft cards, edit your deck, and keep your run alive, after you lose.
The year ahead promises 3 expansions, including the Emerald Dream's battle between Old Gods and Druids, a return to Un'Goro Crater, and a Chromie-led journey through alternate realities.

Hearthstone: Heroes of StarCraft – The Great Dark Beyond Mini-Set
Early next year, Hearthstone is going beyond Warcraft and into... Heroes of StarCraft! This special Mini-Set will have a whopping 49 new cards across three themed factions, which show what the StarCraft universe would look like in the Hearthstone Tavern. Each faction is made up of cards that can be used across multiple classes, including an iconic Hero card.
       Zerg
Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock have joined the Zerg! Led by the formidable  Sarah Kerrigan, they will have aggressive cards that win the game by swarming the board.
       Protoss
Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue fight for the Protoss Empire. Led by the High Templar Artanis, they will have powerful, high-cost cards that are made cheaper throughout the game.
       Terran
Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior make up the Terran forces, led by the one and only Jim Raynor. They will command Battlecruisers—a special take on the Starship mechanic from The Great Dark Beyond.
The Mini-Set will feature a slew of StarCraft units which are sure to invoke nostalgia, as well as the Terran-armored Murloc, Grunty, and new, thematic music. You can chart a course for the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, launching in January 2025! More announcements, details, and card reveals are coming closer to launch.
       Major Arena Updates
Then, for the first time in 10 years, Arena Mode is getting a major overhaul. With that update, there will be two kinds of Arena to choose from. Normal Arena will be shorter form, allowing you to complete your runs more quickly. Competitive Arena players will be able to play in the higher-stakes Underground Arena, with longer runs and a new feature: Re-Draft on Loss. Re-Draft on Loss means that, after you lose, you’ll have the option to re-draft cards, edit your deck, and keep your run alive.
Ratings will also be added to both Normal and Underground Arena. Normal, skill-based matchmaking will be used for Normal Arena. Underground Arena throws caution to the wind and lets you face off against opponents of all skill levels.
This major Arena revamp is coming in the first half of next year. Look out for more details about this update closer to when it goes live.
A Preview of the Year Ahead: The Year of the Raptor!
On top of those updates, Hearthstone has an exciting year of expansions ahead, with much-requested themes, locations, and familiar faces across Azeroth.
In the first expansion of the year, enter the Emerald Dream and join the battle between the Old Gods and the Druids of the Emerald Dream for the fate of the World Tree. Things will heat up even more when the Druids of the Flame light up the Mini-Set (releasing earlier than normal this year, during the 32.2 Patch).
The second expansion of the year will be Hearthstone’s first-ever sequel: the return to Un’Goro Crater! Join Elise on a hunt for a mythical, lost Tortollan city. When you find it, join the Tortollans in a festival to celebrate the mighty dinosaurs of the crater in the 33.4 Mini-Set.
In the third expansion of the year, travel with Chromie through alternate realities to recruit Legendary Warcraft heroes like you’ve never seen them before. Leading to the 34.4 Mini-Set: an epic showdown against Murozond at the end of time!
