is there anything that can be substituted for Dr. Boom?  I don't have him yet, but I do have most other cards.  Thanks

The fight should be very quick because of the large amounts of value Maloriak gains from his hero power. That is why I chose to run cheaper minions. You can substitute Dr. Boom with any standard Zoo card like Power Overwhelming, Abusive Sergeant or Dark Iron Dwarf.

I myself ran a Big Game Hunter to take out those huge Drakonid Crushers.

Oh, and I can confirm that Zoo works very well in this fight – unless Maloriak starts with Aberrations. :)

uh... am I missing something? Mana wyrm is a mage specific card, the rest seem to be neutral or warlock specific. Is there an IAP or something that allows u to use cards from different classes? lol

That section describes the boss's deck.

The suggested decks to beat him are at the bottom of the page.

Just a quick tip for maloriak: A Murloc focused (just put 'em all in there wink.png ) druid worked perfectly for me! It's just beautiful to see how the swap mechanism turns murlocs into absolute monsters. If you manage to innervate turn 1 into Warleader and follow up on turn two with two murloc bodies... o.O Well, I'll just say I highly recommend it!!
(I also included jeeves, since i figured that I would get low on cards quickly, which I did) Still, a turn 5 victory on my second try made me happy! Naturalize and savage roar for additional rushiness recommended biggrin.png)

Thank you so much for that comment. You have saved me hours of trying it over and over again. wub.png

This is the cheapest deck I beat Heroic Maloriak with.

Maloriak's minions are extremely strong. Having him play removal spells will allow you to play more cheap, yet eventually overwhelming minions.
All stat-swapping effects can be abused: Buffing a minion while stats are being swapped will result in higher stats than normal. Play Raid Leader and protect it to buff all following minions.
Concede, if Maloriak starts with 3 Aberrations.
Concede, if you cannot silence his Sludge Belcher.
Concede, if Maloriak Duplicates his Sludge Belcher.

Naxx Warlock (0 Dust)
Difficulty: hard (may take more than 10 tries)
Inspiration:

Similar, yet more expensive deck: https://www.icy-veins.com/hearthstone/mid-budget-maloriak-warlock-deck-heroic-mode

2x Goldshire Footman
2x Soulfire
2x Voidwalker
2x Zombie Chow
2x Bloodfen Raptor
2x Frostwolf Grunt
2x Haunted Creeper
2x Kobold Geomancer
2x Murloc Tidehunter
2x Nerub'ar Weblord
2x Nerubian Egg
2x Imp Gang Boss
2x Raid Leader
1x Razorfen Hunter
2x Sludge Belcher
1x Kel'Thuzad

Turn 1: Voidwalker or Zombie Chow.
Turn 2: Nerubian Egg.
Use Nerub'ar Weblord to lure removal.
Combine Soulfire with Kobold Geomancer to deal with Sludge Belcher.
Win condition: Kel'Thuzad next to a taunt.

Cheerio,

Bob

Wow, just did as you said, might have gotten quiet decent draws, but what seemed unbeatable with the zoo warlock was done in first try biggrin.png he even uses faceless on you warleader, like blizz intended to go murloc vs him biggrin.png ... Thank you very very much!

Hi!

I tried the lock deck but didnt really succeed with it. Instead I wen for different face hunter. I chose minions that have relatively large health pool but only few on attack. Cards suchs as Thrallmar Farseer and Flying machine work quite nicely. Also Cog master and Micro Machine work quite well. I defeated Maloriak with my first try with this deck:

Hunter

2x Cogmaster

2x Zombie Chow

1x Explosive Trap

2x Dire Wolf Alfa

2x Gilblin Stalker

2x Nerubian egg

2x Stonesplinter Trogg

2x Kill command

2x Unleash the hounds

2x Deathlord

2x Flying machine

2x Gnomereggan Infantry

1x Mind Control Tech

1x Raid leader

2x Thrallmar Farseer

1x Enhance o Mechano

I didn't even see half of my cards in the game so im not quite sure how they would work. The game was over in 6 turns when went just face face face. Didnt get any of my spells out aswell. I bet even for this deck the 3x 3/3 start would be too much. Feel free to try.

Definitely use the murloc deck. took me a few tries, but it feels way more doable than the other decks, plus it is a lot of fun!

Another +1 for this strategy, which finally won after many failed attempts with other decks.

I got Innervate Murloc Warleader into Dire Wolf Alpha, which created a factory for big buff-rebuff murlocs.  Don't trade the Warleader -- keep it for the factory, even if it means taking some damage.  Finally, i was cheating just as hard as the AI with its +2/+2 auto-buff!  A timely Jeeves and Savage Roar, plus no sick triple-whammy insta-loss, completed the parlay needed to finally score a win.

This is by far and away the most infuriating heroic of any that I've done. (All of naxx, everything but maloriak completed in BRM)

No matter what kind of start I get off to, he always has removal options, I can never get anything of value to stick on the board, and no matter what I do, he overwhelms me with absurd value from his hero power.  I've tried the murloc strat, tried the suggested hunter strat here, and even tried the zoolock strat, and none of it works.

I have to have made close to 30 attempts at this point, and there's absolutely nothing I seem to be able to do.

I'm going to try the zoo-lock approach again, but, knowing my luck, he'll always get unleash the aberrations, and get 4 imps from implosions, and end up flooding his own board with things way bigger than anything I can drop.

/rant

TL;DR: This fight is incredibly frustrating.

Edit: After about 3 hours of attempts, I finally beat him with the posted zoo-lock deck.  It seems the only way to win is for RNG to work in your favor, and him to never unleash the aberrations.

I just defeated Heroic Maloriak after only 3 total attempts, using my Tempo Mage deck leftover from Heroic Chromaggus.

RSAMbWL.png

The first attempt was one of those unbeatable scenarios of Maloriak coining out Aberrations on T1. On this 3rd attempt in which I won, I had a great starting hand of Mana Wyrm, Frostbolt, and 2x Mad Scientists. That was a huge help in getting the ball rolling.

My deck contains a couple of silence minions, very useful for either neutralizing his taunts and also negating the buff from his hero power. One of the key plays during the fight was silencing his Voidwalker with Ironbeak Owl. This enabled me to deal quite a bit of damage to his face, forcing him to deal with my board.

His only two secrets are Duplicate and Counterspell. In my opinion, these are something that you can and should play around. Be careful to spare his powerful minions until you can trigger Duplicate by killing off a "weak" minion. I chose to kill an Acidic Swamp Ooze to activate it. Even though it comes back as a 4/5, it's a much better choice than one of his Drakonid Crushers or his taunts. (Ideal would be one of his 3/3 imps from Imp-plosion.) In the image above, that last secret was a Counterspell. I played Fireball which was countered, then just hit him with the Emperor and my hero power to finish him off.

Decklist:

2x Mana Wyrm

2x Flamecannon

2x Frostbolt

1x Unstable Portal (gave me a free Thrallmar Farseer)

1x Ironbeak Owl

2x Mad Scientist

2x Sorcerer's Apprentice

1x Counterspell

2x Mirror Entity

1x Big Game Hunter

2x Flamewaker

2x Fireball

1x Spellbreaker

1x Antique Healbot

1x Loatheb

2x Sludge Belcher

2x Summoning Stone*

1x Emperor Thaurissan

1x Kel'Thuzad

1x Molten Giant

*I'd probably replace these with 2x Mind Control Techs.

Hearthstone is taking a bold step into the StarCraft universe with "Heroes of StarCraft: The Great Dark Beyond," a 49-card mini-set launching in January 2025.
Featuring iconic factions like Zerg, Protoss, and Terran, complete with legendary leaders Sarah Kerrigan, Artanis, Jim Raynor, this set blends StarCraft nostalgia with Hearthstone's gameplay.
Additionally, Arena Mode is getting a massive overhaul, introducing shorter Normal Arena runs and a high-stakes Underground Arena with a game matching "re-draft on loss" mechanic, giving you the option to re-draft cards, edit your deck, and keep your run alive, after you lose.
The year ahead promises 3 expansions, including the Emerald Dream's battle between Old Gods and Druids, a return to Un'Goro Crater, and a Chromie-led journey through alternate realities.

Hearthstone: Heroes of StarCraft – The Great Dark Beyond Mini-Set
Early next year, Hearthstone is going beyond Warcraft and into... Heroes of StarCraft! This special Mini-Set will have a whopping 49 new cards across three themed factions, which show what the StarCraft universe would look like in the Hearthstone Tavern. Each faction is made up of cards that can be used across multiple classes, including an iconic Hero card.
       Zerg
Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock have joined the Zerg! Led by the formidable  Sarah Kerrigan, they will have aggressive cards that win the game by swarming the board.
       Protoss
Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue fight for the Protoss Empire. Led by the High Templar Artanis, they will have powerful, high-cost cards that are made cheaper throughout the game.
       Terran
Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior make up the Terran forces, led by the one and only Jim Raynor. They will command Battlecruisers—a special take on the Starship mechanic from The Great Dark Beyond.
The Mini-Set will feature a slew of StarCraft units which are sure to invoke nostalgia, as well as the Terran-armored Murloc, Grunty, and new, thematic music. You can chart a course for the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, launching in January 2025! More announcements, details, and card reveals are coming closer to launch.
       Major Arena Updates
Then, for the first time in 10 years, Arena Mode is getting a major overhaul. With that update, there will be two kinds of Arena to choose from. Normal Arena will be shorter form, allowing you to complete your runs more quickly. Competitive Arena players will be able to play in the higher-stakes Underground Arena, with longer runs and a new feature: Re-Draft on Loss. Re-Draft on Loss means that, after you lose, you’ll have the option to re-draft cards, edit your deck, and keep your run alive.
Ratings will also be added to both Normal and Underground Arena. Normal, skill-based matchmaking will be used for Normal Arena. Underground Arena throws caution to the wind and lets you face off against opponents of all skill levels.
This major Arena revamp is coming in the first half of next year. Look out for more details about this update closer to when it goes live.
A Preview of the Year Ahead: The Year of the Raptor!
On top of those updates, Hearthstone has an exciting year of expansions ahead, with much-requested themes, locations, and familiar faces across Azeroth.
In the first expansion of the year, enter the Emerald Dream and join the battle between the Old Gods and the Druids of the Emerald Dream for the fate of the World Tree. Things will heat up even more when the Druids of the Flame light up the Mini-Set (releasing earlier than normal this year, during the 32.2 Patch).
The second expansion of the year will be Hearthstone’s first-ever sequel: the return to Un’Goro Crater! Join Elise on a hunt for a mythical, lost Tortollan city. When you find it, join the Tortollans in a festival to celebrate the mighty dinosaurs of the crater in the 33.4 Mini-Set.
In the third expansion of the year, travel with Chromie through alternate realities to recruit Legendary Warcraft heroes like you’ve never seen them before. Leading to the 34.4 Mini-Set: an epic showdown against Murozond at the end of time!
