Comprehensive 6.2 Warlock Changelog

This will be a recording of all of the changes that Warlocks are undergoing for 6.2 compared to live.

 

Current PTR iteration version: 20076

 

ALL WARLOCK SPECS

 

Dark Soul's CD will now reset with encounter resets.

 

AFFLICTION

 

• Agony now deals 12% more damage.
• Corruption now deals 12% more damage.
• Unstable Affliction now deals 12% more damage.

 

• T182P - Drain Soul has a 30% chance to extend the duration of Dark Soul by 2 seconds.
• T184P - Drain Soul refreshes Haunt's duration while under Dark Soul.

 

DESTRUCTION

 

• T182P - Chaos Bolt's cast time is reduced 0.5 seconds and its damage is increased by 2%.
• T184P - Chaos Bolt has a 12% chance to not consume a Burning Ember.

 

DEMONOLOGY

 

• Mastery has had its effect increased from 1.92% increased damage per point of Mastery to 2.50%.  
• Corruption now deals 12% more damage.
• Shadowbolt, Touch of Chaos, Soul Fire, Doom, Hand of Gul'dan, and Chaos Wave now deal 25% less damage.
• Shadowflame now deals 40% less damage.

 

• T182P - Soul Fire increases demon damage by 3% for 15 seconds stacking up to 5 times.
• T184P - Molten Core has a 30% chance to summon a demon guardian.

Change Impacts

 

Affliction

 

• T182P is grossly overpowered.  With Haste levels realistically getting to 30% in Heroic gear and 40% in Mythic gear, 90% uptime on Dark Soul is easily achieved.  
• 12% gain to 3 DoTs is a flat buff and makes Affliction stand far and above Demonology and Destruction currently.

 

Demonology

 

• Mastery rework helps negate a significant nerf to most of Demonology's abilities.  This change brings back Demonbolt as a viable, and even optimal, choice in the level 100 talent section for single target DPS.  
• T182P is a buff that must be maintained.  Consuming Molten Core procs in caster form with Demonbolt allows this buff to be maintained.  
• T184P is currently bugged only allowing procs to happen when MC charges go from 0 to 1.  The demons that spawn from this are random and has a chance to summon a mega awesome Prince Malchezar.

 

Destruction

 

• No spell changes leaves Destruction in a decent setting but nowhere close to Affliction's current build.
• T182P reduces Chaos Bolt's base cast time to 2.0 seconds and increases its damage by a paltry 2%.
• T184P makes 1 out of every 8 Chaos Bolts free.  RNG plays into the DPS gain, but it will be fairly significant.

All you need to know if you'll play Demonology until you acquire your 4pc and then you'll do nothing but sling DoTs and Drain Soul.  Affliction's set bonus is grossly overpowered and nerfs are anticipated.

So Demo until 4pc? 2pc doesn't push affliction past demo? Have you ran sims in tier 17? I'd like to switch AFF or Destro; sorta sick of Demo.

Would you mind also comparing sims with 4pc T17 and 2pc T17 and 2pc t18? We have 3 warlocks and depending on release schedule I might miss first week of Mythic, which will put me on bottom priority for tier in the heroic clear.

I would say Demo until 2pc.  The 2pc makes Affliction really good.  The 4pc makes it better.

Yep, I'll be doing a lot of comparisons.  The Destro model was missing something last night, so I only did comparisons between Affliction and Demonology.  Unfortunately, the wife is dragging me to two weddings today, so I may not get this work out until tomorrow.
