I have really bad trinkets but hopefully I can get spine/heart next week.We cleared 9/10 today and would love for someone to have a look at those fights, also I'm having trouble on deciding whether to use Stampede or Blink Strikes on a lot of fights like Maidens and Flame-bender, anyway again would really love someone to have a look and let me know !!My in game name is Fyyruss.Logs: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/LAWRHc2dhgyBr4Dt#fight=59&source=1052&view=rankings Armory:http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/malganis/Fyyruss/simple

Thanks in advance! - Carrn His beast cleaving is very inconsistent with the Pack Beasts coming out and I don't think he's properly positioning his pet to hit them. Opener should be double cobra, stampede, onuses + BW + KC, then barrage. Wasted over 500 focus. Poor resource management. Sat on multiple 5 stack Focus Fires for over 20 seconds. Steady Focus uptime is atrocious. You should not be lusting off the pull on Mythic Beastlord. Kill Command is not properly cast on cooldown.

Carrn 284 Report post Posted March 9, 2015 The lust on pull was an experiment, I think; we weren't doing it the other night when I was there Steady Focus should be 100% uptime, I assume? By wasted focus, I assume you just mean capping rather than spending, right? Is it better to just use Focus Fire at 5 stacks, or should it be held for other cooldowns? Lastly, about the pet positioning - since I don't play Hunter, are there any tips you can give for how to do this properly? I was under the (obviously mistaken) impression that pets just kind of do their own thing behind whatever target you're currently hitting

MarcusK 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) Hey everyone! So i think it's my turn now. but first I need to give you some details just in case they matter: - Highmaul was my first current level raid. As in ever. - From a utility point of view, I've certainly gotten a lot better, and know that I'm not dead weight. - I have improved on Focus Management (trying addons and different setups) although if I'm to be self critical, I believe I could do better. - I would quantify myself as "Average+ Player". and my best interpretation for logs is looking at casts and comparing mine to other hunters on our team. One of which (in the logs below) is always out performing. So, here's my armoury link: Umarachnea And last night's logs are here If possible, I would like to first know how to quantify my performance, in terms of how far I have to go, and second, just really where/what am I doing wrong? I am not looking to receive a trophy for top dps (that may come later ) but really to at least perform better. I know I should be as MM hunter. oh and I switched to Posthaste on the Blast Furnace fight. *edit: What strikes me as odd is the Kromog fight considering the # of casts is quite similar to the other hunter on our team. For blast furnace, it might have been some of the delays in getting the security guards out of their "shield areas" and the bomb running. Thanks for the insight! Orthios 271 Report post Posted March 11, 2015 @MarkusK, looking at Kromog: 24/31 casts of Chimaera Shot - This is you're second (only because of how powerful barrage is on the hands) biggest loss of dps, about 570k damage or 2k dps. You didn't line up Barrage with any of the rune cycles, which is a pretty big dps loss. Kinda low sniper training uptime, 75% - either you got unlucky with everything spawning right where you were at or you're moving waaaay too much. For reference, I was able to get 95% uptime myself on this fight. Your second Agi potion didn't line up with much of anything, it should've been used alongside your 3rd rapid fire. Blast Furnace: 43/66 possible Chimaera Shot casts (yes, this adjusted for when you died). That is..... horrible, to be blunt. 17 Kill Shots. With the plentiful amount of mobs that are present in BF, there is almost always something to KS snipe. Barrage usage is kinda low, You should be using it almost on cd during p2 due to the amount of mobs.
MarcusK 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2015 @Orthios Thank you for taking the time. Kromog: While this was my first try (having missed previous raids) I can see my mistakes being mostly due to trying and making sense of the fight here, while I should have paid closer attention to my rotation. Great tips thanks. For sniper training, I usually get better with each kill of an encounter. It's something I need to work on too. Blast Furnace: - I died less than a minute from the kill so I'm not using that as an excuse anyway . As for the casts, I was pretty shocked at how big of a difference there was between myself and the other hunter (roughly double the total casts). That's what caused me to ask for some insight. It is horrible. Thanks for being blunt, I need that. - Barrage, yes, I think I might have misinterpreted some of the tactics The other hunter had "only" 150 more. So if I got things right: - Based on encounters, be ready with which abilities should be used when, and try to maximize on their use. Such as Kromog, use Barrage on the runes. Don't just read/watch tactics, understand and assess when to use what. - While KS should be used on CD, with multiple mobs up pay attention to mob health, and snipe KS when possible. - Overall, I'm guessing I need to better manage my rotation in order to fire off my top shots enough times as I should. Such as you did for BF, where based on CS cooldown, I should have been able to fire off about 66 chimeras. Heck, even accounting for some down time running around like a headless chicken, I should have been able to get off more than just 43, or more importantly, Barrage. Thanks again for taking the time, I really appreciate it. Hopefully I can apply this info by next raid night. Cheers!

Just need help on some certain. things. I changed to BM last week on the last day of raid(Sunday). I recommend getting Glyph of Stampede, just to reduce clutter in logs/skada. Gruul: You used Cobra x2 > Stampede > BW > Cobra (???) > KC. The third cobra shot is entirely unnecessary. Outside of this, you abilities cast within BW looks good. You sat on 5 stacks of Frenzy for quite awhile not long after your third BW cast, almost 30s. Also, drop the haste gems/enchants for Mastery ones. Hi there, so a little back story. Gruul is a purely ST fight, no need for MS here. Cobra > KC/FF > Cobra doesn't apply Steady Focus anymore, so if you use SF, you need to Cobra x2 > Stampede > BW > KC as your opener. You also cast a third cobra immediately after entering BW. And a 4th after barrage....... You should aim to never cast cobra shot within BW if possible. Your second BW is BW > Cobra x2 > KC > Barrage > Cobra. This is a lot of time where you should have been using arcane shot instead. If you are low on focus when BW comes up, use cobraq shot to get to around 80 focus before using BW, then inside of BW burn your focus.

Maidens: 55%, 56%, 48% uptimes on SS, even with you being on the boat that's a bit low. Try to save BA for when you get onto the boats, as you lost 2 by casting them on the boss that was jumping up. 18/22 BA casts. At least 5 times where you went 20s+ without casting ES. 176 focus wasted - Not bad given the fight length, but ideally this should be 0. Stampede > AMoC 7/9 casts of AMoC - Could've reset the cd a few times on the turrets for even more casts. Flamebender: You didn't start your opener until 2s in? It should look like this: Pre-pot and pre cast cobra > Cobra > Stampede > BW + Racials + On-Uses > KC > Barrage. 46/57 KC casts (minus a few due to natural delay). THX Gruul: Use Dire Beast before Bestial Wrath. Don't refresh BW, wait for the current one to run out and then throw a cobra or two to get some more focus then use the second one. There is a lot of focus capping. Your Focus Fire and Frenzy stacking is somewhat ok, you should aim to pop 5 stacks a lot faster. However your Bestial Wraths were well used inside of the duration of many high stack Focus Fires, good job there. You missed 8 Kill Commands for a average damage loss of 260,000 over the course of the fight. The duration of your Bestial Wrath is properly used, there was not a single instance of a Bestial Wrath that did not have 2 Kill Commands inside it. Good job there. CPM is a tad low, try to cast more abilities during the fight. Make sure you always have enough focus for Kill Command. Change Steady Focus to Dire Beast for a single target fight, (ie. Gruul, Oregorger, Blackhand). It is more damage and easier to use than Steady Focus. However your uptime wasn't atrocious. Overall your damage was not that bad, it could've been above 41k if you played a bit better / used the proper talents, but you did fairly well.

I'm looking at your Gruul log. Please tell me I'm not looking at this correctly and you did in fact cast a Stampede... There is 0 fights in this raid that call for anything other than Stampede. Please don't use Blink Strikes. Your damage would've been thousands higher. Didn't miss too many Kill Commands so not bad there. Opener is correct other than lack of Stampede. Low wasted focus. Good there. There seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding about how to properly use Focus Fire, please refer to the weak aura, which will help you know when to use it.
