More than likely the difference is that they are using the glyph of stampede whereas you are not.  See here for a bit more detail.

Okay...So i've done this once and saw dramatic increases with the advice I received, but I am reaching out the Hunter Gods once again.  My guild has requested that I switch to BM, I've been working on getting gear to move from SV to BM and that's been going alright, but my issue once again is getting this rotation stuff down.  Can someone please look my logs and tell me where i'm going wrong. I'm almost positive its FF management (I have AZ's Weak aura for it) and procs, but I don't know enough to be dangerous.

Hey everyone, my guild is looking at doing a merger so we can get into mythic, and I am competing with a lot of other hunters, only problem is they are all BM and I am surv (will switch to BM with my 4pc but for now, surv)

 

I am ranking higher than most of them on a lot of fights, including getting 90th percentile on maidens, but the BM hunters say my rankings don't mean anything because only bads are playing surv right now...

 

I was wondering if there's anything I can do to beat them in damage as surv, or if I am stuck being lower until I switch to BM and get my 4pc (I am above some of them right now, but I want to be top)

Looking for improvement advice from an outside perspective.  One thing I discovered from watching Niix's youtube video was that I was only using my on-use trinket once (with prepot macro).  I've fixed my macro to include both /use 13 and /use 14.  Outside of this error I'd like any tips anyone can provide.  Thanks in advance,

Been a way for a while doing other stuff, but here to chip in some comments on your fights, Daye.

 

Gruul:
- I'm not sure if you are aware of it or simply forgot, but keep focus fire up while stampede is up. On pull, pop focus fire the moment you get your first frenzy stack and pop again when FF runs out and stampede is still up. Within the first 40 seconds of the fights you had downtime on your FF on 4 frenzy stacks when you could have popped FF on 3 stacks. FF/Frenzy management looks good on Gruul besides this tho.

- Your opener looks almost correct, just cast stampede before you pop BW+KC. 

- You used deterrence 11 seconds into the fight, not sure why but that is a dps loss

- You overcapped for a totalt of 37 focus during the fight, that is also a pure dps loss (around six different times during the fight it seems)

- You only used Beating Heart of The Mountain one time during the fight, when you could have used it three times. 

- You missed using FF while still in BW at around the 4 min marker.

- You missed 13 kill kommands ((fight length/6 sec)+1). You shouldn't be missing more than 5 maximum preferably less.

I would pick the BM hunters due to the insane execution damage they are able to put out which is really helpful on progress. Sure, there are fights where you will beat them, like darmac with spear dotting etc, but with the current state of hunters you are not gonna be able to beat them outside few exceptions.

 

Rankings don't mean anything, it's a pointer on how you are doing compared to people doing the same stuff as you. Consider this: If the raid is struggling on Gruul mythic and you have five 70 percentile BM hunters doing 43K and you as survival doing 38K. This doesn't mean anything for the progress if you are not killing the boss. You can be rank 1 in survival, but if you are not pushing above 40k DPS you are not pulling your own weight. In other words, switch to BM as fast as you are able to

- You had 44 frenzy stacks and 80% uptime on FF throughout the fight which is a lot.

- You overcapped 147 (!!!) focus. This is a major pure dps loss. Never, ever, overcap.

- Missed around 6 kill commands. Plan ahead concerning focus and important stuff coming off CDs.

- As I mentioned in another post here. Pop FF and keep it up when stampede is up. 

- You missed using FF before entering BW around 25-30 sec into the fight, even tho you had 4 frenzy stacks. Pop focus fire if it comes off CD and you are inside BW. Ahh, ok.  

 

Gruul:

• 58 wasted focus, not horrible, but not good either.
• Did you not pre-cast a Cobra Shot?
• Opener was wrong anyways:  Pre-Pot + Pre-cast Cobra Shot > Cobra Shot > Stampede + On-Uses > BW > Kill Command > Barrage > Focus Fire > continue.
• During your 2nd BW, you cast KC > AS x4 > Cobra Shot x2 > KC.  Try to never cast Cobra Shot within BW if you can help it, meaning it is better to delay BW to get to 80+ focus beforehand (and refreshing SF along the way).
• 34/38 KC casts, pretty good.
• Make sure to use FF as soon as it hits 5 stacks.

Beastlord:

• Save your second Stampede for Heroism, this cost you a bit of damage.
• Why did you wait so long to cast stampede in the opener?  11s is quite long.

 

Having the 4pc will be a big bonus to BM's ST damage, and having more mastery on your gear will also help a lot.

so would you agree with dropshot that the biggest reason I'm doing half his dps is because I've been gearing for survival so I have 30% less mastery than him and no 4pc?

 

also, should I just stay surv until I get more mastery or would it be better to just switch now?

MS isn't bad for BM, but it's not as good as mastery is.  If you have the 4pc, then I'd say to start gearing for BM and playing it to get more used to it.

Good afternoon everybody.

 

I recently got back into WoW and made my first hunter about 4 months ago. I've been lurking here trying to figure out how to hunter and thought I had been doing a relatively decent job at it while I've been getting geared. Well, now that I'm relatively geared, it seems as though my DPS isn't any where near what it should be and I can't exactly figure out why. I'm pretty confident my rotation isn't terrible so I'm not sure what's going on.

Toughts: Just like to get some opinions. I am quite happy with the DPS, I will sort out the ringenchant missing. For some reason this log wont count forward the ranking. I got the engine kited into me and it knocked me back three times with me unable to get out..... well, standard pug thingy. Is there something I should work on?

Can anyone take a quick look at my logs from my guilds last few attempts on Maidens to see what I'm doing wrong? It seems I need to do more, and this fight has my number.

 

I'm very torn on whether to ignore Kill command completely and save focus for Multi shot for Beast cleave, or try to weave it in when I can. I'm not sure the what the numbers would look like if I focused on having beast cleave up. I usually try to hit kill command and have BC fall off for a couple seconds.

It's too late for me to start tonight, and I work all day tomorrow, so I will hopefully be able to dedicate most of Tuesday to going back and reviewing/analyzing the logs here. Yeah, come 6.2 I plan on taking a much more active role here on the forums, including a how-to for log analysis for at least BM and MM.
