6.2 Log Analysis Requests / Help my DPS Thread

I am a bit a my wits end.  I moved to a new guild when my old one had a bunch of people just not come back after the new year.

The new guild has a couple of hunters, and I am just not measuring up DPS wise.  Fight mechanics I know pretty well, but for some reason, I cannot get out of my own way.  A couple of weeks ago, when we first made it to M Kilrog, my sniper training uptime was like 16%, so moving way too much.  I've been working on moving less, but none of these HFC fights really lend themselves to not moving much, so it's been an effort to try and work on the move 2 sec rule.  I finally decided after seeing my simcraft numbers that despite working on things, and re-reading Azor's MM guide, that there is stuff I'm just not able to see.

I also have mythic Fel Spring Coil and a H-WF Malicious Censor and a H/Socketed Malicous Censor

On Kilrog this week, i end up sniping the Bloodthirsters at their spawnpoint.

I seem to be focus starved way too much, and despite looking at the logs, I can't tell what it is I should be doing.

Overall you're doing pretty good, make sure you're watching Chimaera Shot's cooldown, as there's points where you're holding it for 10s or longer and missing casts because of it.  Also try to work on stutter-stepping to keep up Sniper Training (this is something a little more minor, you're doing good, but could be better).  And get some potions, use one pre-pull at ~1s left on the pull timer and again with Rapid Fire in Kill Shot phase (sub-35%).

I am returning to playing as a hunter in HFC and am struggling with numbers. I have followed this guide over the last month or so and have tried the recommended trinkets etc. Could you offer some advice as to where I am going wrong?

Ok, Archimonde kill #3:

• Missed a bunch of Chimaera Shot's, 18/24 (for while you were alive).
• Rather low Sniper Training uptime: shoot for 90%+ (you had 70%).
• Make sure you're lining up Rapid Fire with the legendary Ring.

Kill #2:

• 21/27 Chimaera Shot's
• Low Sniper Training (71%)

It's a recurring theme with those points in your logs.  Make sure you have a good way to monitor cooldowns on abilities and track buffs.  Also make sure Advanced Combat Logging is turned on (under Network settings), I can't look at focus management with it off.

Portions are really important, becaus they'll push your Dmg extremly!! :)

 

Remember: If you play with Stampede, use your Potion first. :)

 

 

One thing more: You've used your Blood Fury and Rapid Fire only on the pulltimer. Later it was ready, but unused.

Blood Fury works great with your killshot!!

Your armory also shows you in BM spec right now, so there's that too.  I hope that your second trinket in the logs is a Fel-Spring Coil and not the Class Trinket.

From June 2nd:

Kormrok:

• You're barraging almost on cooldown.  You should only be using barrage on 2+ targets.
• 26/34 Chimaera Shot's.  Some rather large gaps at points.
• The boss was sub-35% from ~2:53 onwards, for a total of ~139s (2:19).  Given you can get 2x Kill Shots per 11s (cast back-to-back + 10s cd), this gives a possible 12 pairs of Kill Shots, or 24 Kill Shot's possible.  Plus, there's the 2nd and 3rd Crushing Hands which you could've gotten 2 more KS's on each.    You had 15.

 

That's pretty much it, as the same patterns occur throughout your logs.  Work on your Sniper Training uptime some, but remember that it falling off isn't the end of the world.  Make sure your UI has an easy/clear way to track cooldowns.

Yesterday I create my BM Specc for more AoE :)

Atm I'm in MM with fel-spring coil as my second trinket!! :) Wearing it all the fights.

Reach my Soft Crit Cap: 50,02%.

 

 

Thanks for analyze my fights. I'll work for a better handling my KS and try to use Barrage on 2+ targets or with LR. 

 

Kormrok is a diffucult fight for a high uptime of ST. For me. :D

All other fights I've 90%+, second boss little bit less. But Kormrok doesn't work well.. :D

Hello , I'm hoping someone can look through my logs and tell me where I'm lacking. I'm probably not geared as well as I should be for Heroic HFC and my dps is pretty awful.

Well, if this is your armory, then the first thing I'll point out is that you're wearing the Strength legendary ring and will want to go back and get Maalus, the Blood Drinker, the agility one.  You don't gain any benefit from the Strength ring at all (neither the damage increase or the explosion).  I'd also recommend getting a crafted cloak, as that will be better than any options from Heroic HFC, and later getting a crafted Belt once you get Heroic Mannoroth bracers.

Now then, from the logs:

• Make sure you have a good system to track Chimaera Shot's cooldown and be sure to use it on cooldown.  You're often sitting on it for long periods of time causing you to lose casts.
• Rather low uptimes on Sniper Training.  A lot of this comes from learning the fights and knowing when you can stutter-step (move for a bit and then stop to let ST refresh, repeat).
• Make sure you're using Kill Shot twice in a row (and to be using it whenever you can), as you're missing a bunch of casts here as well.  Chimaera Shot is the only thing that's higher priority than Kill Shot.

Here is a bit of an interesting one for you. I main BM hunter, and I am currently trying to make it very competitive with MM. I know it's near impossible but I like challenges. The guide for BM on this website I don't think is very accurate since it's really a dead spec, and I did theory crafted a lot of the spec myself going for mastery>Crit=Multi>haste.

Mmm, yeah, BM is quite far behind MM in terms of both raw damage output and raid usefulness.  The only thing BM is better than MM at is heavy AoE, which only occurs on 2 fights: Iskar and Xhul, where BM's AoE is overshadowed by the presence of high-priority targets which makes MM pull ahead. Also, BM's stat priority is still Mastery >= Haste > Multistrike > Crit > Versatility.  Anyways:

Heroic Archimonde Kill:

• 5/6 Bestial Wrath uses.  Not just minor delays that caused you to miss a cast, you held onto it for an extra minute from 3:22 to 5:27.
• 44/58 uses of Kill Command.  Some rather large gaps in using it, plus a huge gap from 2:47 to 3:23 where you used it 0 times.
• 5 casts of Cobra Shot during Bestial Wrath.  Not bad, but this should ideally be 0.  
• You had 8 Kill Shots total.  You should've had 8 on Archimonde alone.  There are plenty of targets to KS snipe throughout the fight.
• You used neither Bestial Wrath nor Focus Fire with the second ring.
