kduff30 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2015 Hi, I'm a new hearthstone user, I have a good understanding of the game, I'm just unsure on where to spend my money. Which packs should I buy? Or would it be better to buy Nax instead? I'm not looking to spend a ton of money though, just looking to spend a little to help kickstart my card collection. Krazyito 521 Report post Posted August 4, 2015 You might be better off just spending some on some GVG or Classic (just pick one) or you can maybe do a mix of both. Naxx and the BRM stuff is useful as well, but if you play enough games (or are good enough in arena) then you can buy that with gold. Another thing is Arena, if you can get good at that you can get get enough gold to pay for future arena runs and have some left over, in essence playing a lot of arena and winning, you can buy more packs with gold from all that excess (i would recommend trying with gold a few times). Horn 20 Report post Posted August 5, 2015 (edited) I would personally recommend to use daily quests/ gold only to get classic packs first. Only if you have enough knowledge to assess yourself which packs are most useful, i.e. enough knowledge of the game to know what kind of playstyle you want to pursue, I would start spending real money (or in the end decide not to do so). That would be my advice if you plan on spending something like 30 Dollars total. In my opionion there are enough free decks viable, at least at ranks below 15 to play without getting frustratred. The slower start and the experience you gain by having not all cards available and experimenting with alternatives in your collection will, in the long run, improve your play. If you intend to spend more, it is a different story of course. Edited August 5, 2015 by Horn
Eviil 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2015 I would personally recommend to use daily quests/ gold only to get classic packs first. Why not just do Arena instead with the free gold? dust plus packs. Dust can be used to craft what he wants? Spend money on either expansion and look up for achievements for all the free gold possible?

I agree with Horn that spnding money right from the start can be a bad idea.
Darb 40 Report post Posted August 5, 2015 (edited) If you play often enough you will be able to get a decent card collection pretty quickly without even spending money. You can get a free pack each week through Tavern Brawl, and as was already mentioned there are many achievements that allow new players to quickly earn gold (you can look them up on this site). I would suggest using your gold on Arena if you are able to get at least 4 wins consistently, as this will give you a good return on the gold spent in the form of a pack and extra rewards. If not, then I would start off using your gold to purchase Classic packs. Since you have some real money that you are willing to spend, I would suggest using it to buy Naxx. Naxx has a lot of valuable cards that still see a lot of play, and the general consensus is that Naxx is better than BRM (I definitely think so). Buying Naxx with gold is possible, but the 3500 gold it requires translates to 35 packs or 175 cards. This is a large opportunity cost to pay. Plus you are guaranteed to get some good cards with Naxx while packs are random. You eventually want to open a ton of packs so that you can grow your collection, but if you are not wanting to spend much money then I would focus on using in-game gold for the packs (whether that means buying the packs directly, earning them in Arena, or some combination of both). In short, using your money to purchase Naxx is good value because it will give you good cards and will free up your gold for packs. Plus you may enjoy the Naxx experience as you try to defeat the bosses, especially the challenge of trying to defeat them in Heroic mode.
