That has been fixed relatively recently, by the way. Not that it makes the build insanely more awesome by it, but it helps.

Last I researched it, at 44% and over you should be golden on Wrath of the Berserker uptime (which is what the CDR aims to achieve in this build).

It's been a while since this was true. Skull now affects devils and is a complete must.

what changes need to be done if your playing hardcore?

Immunity amulets probably become a LOT more useful to you. Other than that, honestly, I'd say the main difference is the way you play when weighing up SC vs. HC. HC just requires more caution, rolling for survivability, etc.

I'm still having problems with maintaining Wrath of the Beserker.  I find that when it expires, I still have to wait for another 25% of the time (i.e., it stays up for only 3/4 of the time before cooldown resets).  The d3planner states that I have a CDR of 44.82%, although when looking at the individual numbers, it all adds up to 58.5%.  Why am I not getting the full benefit?

Regardless, the 45% should be sufficient to upkeep WotB nonstop, according to the write-up and the comments above.  But I am not finding that to be so.  Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Here is my build (any other suggestions on setup would also be appreciated!  Thanks):

Strangely, the link above lists CDR as 38.7%.  Is there a cap?  I should be getting:

  • 12.5% from gem in helm
  • 7% from shoulders
  • 9% from left sword
  • 10% from right sword
  • 8% from Convention of Elements ring
  • 10% from paragon

Total of 56.5%

Just reading your comment and you're missing out on something here. CDR is NOT additive. It is multiplicative. This is why you don't actually have 56.5% CDR, but a much lower value.

@Deadset can you talk about pain enhancer vs taeguk? I've seen both as options in different guides. Is taeguk your choice simply for the defensive side even if the offensive boost is less? And is PE useless on RGs, even though WW really needs an add RG anyway?

I'm not Deadset, but I can say that it is almost certainly due to the defensive prospects of the gem, as well as how simple it is to maintain the buff. It's also worth noting that the damage difference between PE and Taeguk is far less than the defensive difference.

It's also not a full defensive gem, like Esoteric.

I would assume PE is mainly just used for the AS, rather than the actual bleed damage. This means that you are even more dependent on the RG pull being good. Whether or not the clear time will be that different using PE or Taeguk to account for the difference in damage isn't something that I have personally tested.

Hi!

You suggest Bane of the Trapped as one of the legendary gems. With all the AE Dmg we do, wouldnt Pain Enhancer be the better choice? I didnt do the math, but i think with a nice crit rate it would possibly do more dmg than Bane of the Trapped.

best regards

I am sorry, but I can't understand why you wouldn't bother with Rend while using the Wastes set. Can someone help clarify that?

Rend at base is doing 1100% weapon damage over 5 sec to any enemy within 12 yards (220% dps area effect). Wastes increases this amount PER SECOND by 500% and then lengthens the effect to 15 seconds. I am reading that as 1100% / 5 sec = 220% weapon damage per second for 5 seconds becomes (220x5) 1100% weapon damage per second for 15 seconds (16,500% weapon damage total, not that many enemies will last 15 seconds through that). THEN, while you're whilwinding, that damage is TRIPLED. (3300% WD/PS for 15sec) Then you can increase that with runes, or make it spread more as enemies die. And you only have to hit them with it as new enemies show up, so your not really slowing down your whirlwind DPS.

I only have about half of this gear so far, so I can't really test the effectiveness vs. operating without it. But Rend can be cast while whirlwinding, and I know when I drop it wearing wastes, the damage I am doing with just whirlwind appears to more than double just by how quick enemy health bars start to drop. Is it about Fury spend? Is a different ability really putting out more damage then that?

@Talbotini to cast rend you have to drop out of whirlwind, which also means you lose your massive toughness bonus, and more likely just going to get one shot in the process of casting it.

Yes and no. When you have a huge amount of adds stacked, it's possible but not guaranteed. On smaller packs and on bosses/rift guardians, no, it won't be.

This was already answered, but I'm just stopping by to confirm - at higher rift levels, you'll die. The entire build is structured around ensuring that you are basically unkillable while using WW. The issue is, when you stop WWing, you lose an insane amount of toughness - to the point of just being one shot by a normal mob. Given that you will be right in the middle of a huge pack of mobs, you're are almost guaranteed to die when using Rend.

Is it possible that the obsidian ring of the zodiac will not proc if your WW uses less fury than you generate?  My cool down doesn't seem to be being reduced at all while wearing it (on Wrath of the Berserker).  You figure, you are constantly using fury while WW through an entire rift, but my WotB cooldown always seems to consistently  be 8-9 seconds after my last use stops.  I haven't played since season 4, but I feel like when I did and wore an ORotZ that I could watch the cooldown timer shorten, and I felt like my uptime was constant.  I am sticking to the build almost exactly...though I'm not really optimized yet equipment wise.

Just confirming, are you actually hitting enemies with your WW?

Blizzard have moved the launch of Season 34 back a week!
While it was supposed to start today, Blizzard cite players not wanting the new D3 and D4 season launches to overlap on the same week, and needing more time to get the season properly set up, as the previous one ended early.
      Season 34 Delay (Source)
      Hi all
We have shifted the start for the new season of Diablo III to next week. This is due to a few items:
We received a good amount of feedback that many didn’t want overlap with the first weekend of Diablo IV’s new season. We agree so we are building out that gap and will be more mindful of that going forward.
This will help us properly ensure account states migrate over as we had an issue with the prior season rolling early and us having to kick things back on.
You can find the exact times on our Season 34 blog.

Sanctuary needs you to answer its call for aid in Season 34: Light’s Calling. Starting on January 24 at 5 p.m. PST/CET/KST, Nephalem can harness the power of the Light’s Calling theme, which first debuted with Season 27. For an in-depth look at what’s coming, take a gander below. Also, Season 33 will officially come to an end on January 19.

Looking to turn the tide of an unremitting war between light and darkness, the Angels of the High Heavens have embedded a token of their righteousness in Sanctuary. Cunning Nephalem seeking an advantage in combat will undergo an angelic trial, crystallizing a symbol of their morality into pure, otherworldly perfection. The specific celestial force imbued within by the divine is unknown—an answer waiting to be sought on the battlefield. Go forth, Nephalem!
Season 34 reintroduces Light’s Calling. Valiant Nephalem who recover Angelic Crucibles, a new consumable item, may use them to Sanctify any equippable Legendary item, infusing it with one of three new class-specific powers at random. We wanted to use Angelic Crucibles to lean into the expertise of each class, further exemplifying its respective prowess, but through a nuanced lens. The High Heavens are home to ethereal splendor, bursting with boundless radiance—we wanted to provide players with a taste of untainted power as doled out from Heaven itself.

In Season 34, awards originally available from Season 10 are returning. In addition to the Head and Shoulder slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, you’ll be able to earn the Black Soulstone themed portraits and the scholarly Loremaster pennant first introduced in Season 10.

However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve participated in previous Seasons. We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic ones for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Prove your worth alongside the Shades of the Nephalem and complete the Season 34 Guardian Journey to earn the Book of Cain pet and the Lost Civilization Portrait Frame.

      Season Journey Rewards
If you’ve been diligently slaying demons before and reached Conqueror in the Season Journey each time, you’ve surely accrued a few extra stash tabs. You’ll earn one additional tab each Season by finishing the Conqueror tier, up to a maximum of five:

Sprinter and Speed Racer task you with completing Acts I through V at max level in under one hour. Want to go fast while killing things? Boss Mode and Worlds Apart are right up your alley. On A Good Day and I Can’t Stop are making a return, if leveling your Legendary Gems is more your thing. Finally, if you’re keen to prove your mastery of various Class Sets, Years of War and Dynasty will be returning along with Masters of the Universe and Masters of Sets. Best of luck! Return to Top
      Haedrig’s Gift

Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works.
Completing Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts. These contain a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. Players can only unlock one Class Set in this manner per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so choose wisely!
The set you receive depends on the class of the character you’re playing when you open each Haedrig’s Gift. To collect a full Class Set, you’ll need to open all three on the same character. In this season, Haedrig's Gift will grant all-new class sets introduced with previous Seasons.
Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 34:
Barbarian - Horde of the Ninety Savages Crusader - Aegis of Valor Demon Hunter - Gears of Dreadlands Monk - Patterns of Justice Witch Doctor - Mundunugu’s Regalia Wizard - Typhon’s Veil Necromancer - Masquerade of the Burning Carnival Return to Top

It seems something went very wrong with Season 33, as it it just... ended a while ago. Players took to the forums as there was no early warning, other than a server message around an hour before it all ended. PezRadar responded clarifying that this is not intended and that Blizzard are looking into what happened.

Heard and got some pings while I’ve been out and I have production checking on this early end. This shouldn’t have ended today so something is funky. Will provide an update once I hear back.
