How are we supposed to maintain spirit without using generators ? SSS costs 50 and EP 40. If we use nothing but SSS to spread the mystic rhythm buffs, we will run out of spirit quick.

EP is spread through the set bonus, so you don't need to cast it at all (outside a few edge cases, outlined in the guide). You only need to have the skill on your bar to force the set into spreading the correct rune.

I think his question was less about having EP on the bar, and more about maintaining spirit during the "drag the monsters around to new packs, and use SSS to spread their (MP-buffed) EP" phase of the fight.  The recommendation currently reads that we're only supposed to use Hundred Fists (or whatever generator) to set up Mystic Rhythm, and then stop using Hundred Fists so that we don't accidentally generate a non-MP-buffed Exploding Palm.

It's doable with Epiphany running and the occasional pause, but outside that it's just confusing.  Maybe Giorgos and I are both misinterpreting the guide?

You are. Once an entire pack has buffed EPs you can feel free to punch all you want, as the 2 piece bonus will not overwrite your EPs. The only time you don't want to punch things is when you are actively trying to spread an old buffed EP to a new group.

Why is Madstone not a part of this build? Wouldn't that make for more bodies triggering the explosion for an even greater damage? In other words, if only applying exploding palm through basic attack you end up with maybe 3 who have EP, whereas potentially 7 could have EP if applied using seven sided strike. Does that not change the damage burst?

(sorry for the newbie question, started Diablo this week)

If you used a Madstone, you would be forced to use a Ring of Royal Grandeur either in the Cube or equipped, meaning you couldn't use either Unity or Convention of Elements.  At that, Exploding Palm is applied on all enemies hit on the third use of the generator, and then spread automatically through the 6pc (EP detonates on SSS) and Gungdo Gear bracers (EP explosions apply EP).

So finally got everything needed for this set, but it seems this set is good fo MT not so much ST. Unless I missing something. Can SSS EP detonates effect even a ST like a RG? so using SSS after Doom EP is on RG, would make RG take each EP explosions?

EP says when target dies, blows up other targets pretty much, but with this set bypassing the whole target needs to die first part, how does this interact with ST like RG? Not sure if they can be hit by the detonates of EP if there no adds around, for those RG that do not summon any adds, for the ones who do, that no brainier

The explosion from EP hits all targets in range, including the mob it was/is on.

Thanks good to know even on ST they be blown up.

By chance what is the highest G-Rift this build can push? Only cleared 55, but trying to find a set that can get me to at least 75, and allow me to farm it, to get two conquest tied to it. Figured since I play solo, those be the two easiest to get for my extra stash tab.

I'll have to get back to you as far as GR pushing with Uliana's (I currently use Sunwuko's build) goes later tonight, but the two conquests I've gotten so far are the 3 gems at 65  (which you can do with GR 65 as your max/on farm, which is what I did) and the 350 cursed chest event (in A5 Path of the Drowned).

Edit:  Alright, it's now later, and from my kinda limited testing, Uliana's set is slower than Sunwuko's, but it still cleared GR65.  The problem I see is that it heavily favors dense rifts and sorta falls behind in sparse rifts due to either having to group up mobs or kill small amounts of mobs.

Do you need other to help do the cursed event? 350 sounds like a lot to kill in that short time. I think best I ever done was 125 last season with a crusader.

Is Sunwu one that uses Winds? cuz that one I was using both 2/4 and struggle to beat 55. Did it with 40 sec left. Where I been able to do it in under 10 with Pet set.

Hey, just to chime in - Sunwuko is indeed the set that uses Sweeping Wind, most popularly combining it with Wave of Light (we have a guide on that here: https://www.icy-veins.com/d3/monk-wave-of-light-build-with-the-sunwuko-set-patch-2-4-1). It has been buffed time and again in recent patches, so if you ever wanted to try a ranged Monk - give it a shot! It has been proven to be a 85+ capable spec.

I haven't played my Seven-Sided-Strike monk in a while, but yesterday I decided to make a couple of rifts, and - to my surprise - the trusted spirit generator (Way of the Hundred Fists, Assimilation) acted really weird. I clearly remember that the Way of the Hundred Fists would ALWAYS port me right to the first monster in a pack covering some 15 to 20 yards (in-game yards, of course; you know what I mean). Now it doesn't always work. Most of the times I have to run to the enemy till I am at the melee distance from him. Sometimes though, the Way of Hundred Fists does port me to the mob, but I just cannot understand what's going on. Other chars of mine function OK. I checked everything - gear, L-gems, cubed items. Just don't know what the trouble is...

Anybody playing SSS monks has a similar problem ?

Thanks in advance!

It's probably a silly thing, but it's the first thing that comes to mind - maybe you notice the porting while Epiphany is on, and it stops once its off (matching the skill's function to stick you to an enemy)?

Assuming you are doing the Cursed Peat chest in Act 5, which is the only one I know of that will actually spawn enough mobs...

The Wave of Light build Deadset linked is perfect for it.  I actually found it easier solo.  With more players, the mobs don't always die in a single hit, and then they swarm you and knock off your Sweeping Wind stacks.  So I did it solo and stood way back.  I couldn't quite get there, though, until I tweaked the build for max spirit regen (most important), and also some one-hit damage and attack speed.  Mostly minor tweaks, swapping out toughness for those other things.  Probably the biggest help was ditching Unity and wearing the Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac. That way I could spam Mystic Ally for more spirit.  When I was done, I could just hold down the mouse button and attack continuously for the whole event, while also keeping up some damage buffs, without running out of spirit.

I'm trying this build out after having the Inna set and I have to say, is it just me or is this build VERY squishy? I usually die doing the same difficulty unless I can SSS and explode my mob fast enough...

Is your CDR optimized as per the guide recommendations? The downtime should be minimal between SSStrikes, and you are invulnerable during its animation. Other than that, you might be lacking sustain - Life Regeneration is highly valued in the spec because of that.

I would really like to know how anyone is getting this build setup.  How the heck do you use Epiphany and Seven Sided Strike in the same build?  I see that this build has been updated recently and there are recent comments on it, so how is this even working?  If you take the Battle.net link you even see that both of those skills are Focus skills and there are two Technique skills chosen as well.  Where is the Secondary skill and the Defensive skill?

Someone please fix this build so that it makes some sort of sense or else inform us on how to skip the Secondary and Defensive skills.

First off, let me thank you for taking the time to create these guides. I am a casual player and I really appreciate the fact that someone has gone through the theory-crafting to maximize each class/build. Thank you!

I enjoy playing the SSS/EP monk with Uliana's set and I have tweaked my monk to adhere to the most recent changes that you made. I play solo most of the time but I occasionally play with one friend who has a Demon Hunter. In the times when I play with this friend, and I lose my follower (and his unity ring), do you have a suggestion of a ring that I should use in its place? I'm currently using CoE and Compass Rose with Unity in the cube.

Thank you for your feedback.

Thank you for the kind words! You can actually keep the Unity for its unique Elite Damage affix, even though you lose its damage reduction utility with the follower. If you want something more universal, you can try to obtain a Cold damage Stone of Jordan, ideally getting Cold % / high Elite % / CDR / Socket.

Hey all, I'm rather new to Diablo (only started playing a few days ago). Please correct me if I'm missing something, as I'm still quite a low-leveled Monk. Deadset's guide requires Exploding Palm binded to right-click, and Dashing Strike binded to Key 2 in both of his builds, Solo or Speedrun. The issue for me is that Exploding Palm can only be binded to Key 2 for me--do I have to rebind my keys? Will I have an option later on as I reach level cap to rebind Key slot skills to left/right mouse clicks?

Please clarify for me asap, thanks.

Blizzard has posted an official preview of Diablo 3's upcoming Season 34 that starts on January 24!
The ongoing Season 33 ends on January 19. Season 34 reintroduces the Light's Calling Season theme, which means players can obtain Angelic Crucibles, consumables that may be used to Sanctify any Legendary item, infusing it randomly with one of three new class-specific powers. Cosmetic rewards for the patch are as follows:
Completing the Season 34 Guarian journey grants the Book of Cain pet and the Lost Civilization Portrait Frame.
Haedrig's Gift will award you with the following sets in Season 34:
Barbarian - Horde of the Ninety Savages Crusader - Aegis of Valor Demon Hunter - Gears of Dreadlands Monk - Patterns of Justice Witch Doctor - Mundunugu’s Regalia Wizard - Typhon’s Veil Necromancer - Masquerade of the Burning Carnival For more information about Season 34, check out the official blog post below.

Sanctuary needs you to answer its call for aid in Season 34: Light’s Calling. Starting on January 24 at 5 p.m. PST/CET/KST, Nephalem can harness the power of the Light’s Calling theme, which first debuted with Season 27. For an in-depth look at what’s coming, take a gander below. Also, Season 33 will officially come to an end on January 19.

      Season Theme
Looking to turn the tide of an unremitting war between light and darkness, the Angels of the High Heavens have embedded a token of their righteousness in Sanctuary. Cunning Nephalem seeking an advantage in combat will undergo an angelic trial, crystallizing a symbol of their morality into pure, otherworldly perfection. The specific celestial force imbued within by the divine is unknown—an answer waiting to be sought on the battlefield. Go forth, Nephalem!
Season 34 reintroduces Light’s Calling. Valiant Nephalem who recover Angelic Crucibles, a new consumable item, may use them to Sanctify any equippable Legendary item, infusing it with one of three new class-specific powers at random. We wanted to use Angelic Crucibles to lean into the expertise of each class, further exemplifying its respective prowess, but through a nuanced lens. The High Heavens are home to ethereal splendor, bursting with boundless radiance—we wanted to provide players with a taste of untainted power as doled out from Heaven itself.

      Season Cosmetic Rewards
In Season 34, awards originally available from Season 10 are returning. In addition to the Head and Shoulder slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, you’ll be able to earn the Black Soulstone themed portraits and the scholarly Loremaster pennant first introduced in Season 10.

However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve participated in previous Seasons. We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic ones for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Prove your worth alongside the Shades of the Nephalem and complete the Season 34 Guardian Journey to earn the Book of Cain pet and the Lost Civilization Portrait Frame.

      Season Journey Rewards
If you’ve been diligently slaying demons before and reached Conqueror in the Season Journey each time, you’ve surely accrued a few extra stash tabs. You’ll earn one additional tab each Season by finishing the Conqueror tier, up to a maximum of five:
Guardian of Sanctuary: Finish a level 70 Nephalem Rift on Torment XIII difficulty within five minutes. Gem of My Life: Level three Legendary Gems to level 55. All I Do is Win: Complete two Conquests this Season. Life Goes On: Kill Maghda at level 70 in under 15 seconds on Torment XIII difficulty. Money Ain’t a Thang: Slay Greed on Torment XIII difficulty. Treasure Goblins outside of Nephalem Rifts will sometimes open portals to Greed’s domain, The Vault. Take U There: Reach Greater Rift Level 60 Solo. Greater Rift keystones can be obtained from any Nephalem Rift guardian. Power Amplification: Use Kanai’s Cube to augment an Ancient Legendary item with a level 50+ gem. Cubic Reconfiguration: Use Kanai’s Cube to reforge a Legendary item. Return to Top
      Seasonal Conquest
Seasonal Conquests are additional goals you can complete as part of our Season Journey. To earn all the cosmetic rewards, you'll need to complete at least three of the Conquests below. The challenges available in Season 34 include:
Sprinter and Speed Racer task you with completing Acts I through V at max level in under one hour. Want to go fast while killing things? Boss Mode and Worlds Apart are right up your alley. On A Good Day and I Can’t Stop are making a return, if leveling your Legendary Gems is more your thing. Finally, if you’re keen to prove your mastery of various Class Sets, Years of War and Dynasty will be returning along with Masters of the Universe and Masters of Sets. Best of luck! Return to Top
      Haedrig’s Gift

Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works.
Completing Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts. These contain a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. Players can only unlock one Class Set in this manner per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so choose wisely!
The set you receive depends on the class of the character you’re playing when you open each Haedrig’s Gift. To collect a full Class Set, you’ll need to open all three on the same character. In this season, Haedrig's Gift will grant all-new class sets introduced with previous Seasons.
Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 34:
Barbarian - Horde of the Ninety Savages Crusader - Aegis of Valor Demon Hunter - Gears of Dreadlands Monk - Patterns of Justice Witch Doctor - Mundunugu’s Regalia Wizard - Typhon’s Veil Necromancer - Masquerade of the Burning Carnival Return to Top

It seems something went very wrong with Season 33, as it it just... ended a while ago. Players took to the forums as there was no early warning, other than a server message around an hour before it all ended. PezRadar responded clarifying that this is not intended and that Blizzard are looking into what happened.
      Season End (Source)
Heard and got some pings while I’ve been out and I have production checking on this early end. This shouldn’t have ended today so something is funky. Will provide an update once I hear back.

The shadows, they are moving, and they seem… animated. Like they have a will of their own. Whatever this trickery is, perhaps you can use it to your advantage. Let’s see what the demons say when you fight side by side with your own shadow! Shadows of the Past: Activating a Shrine/Pylon will spawn in a shadow clone of your class, who will come with a randomly chosen 1 of 3 predetermined builds. This clone's power will scale with your character and will last for 1 minute (unless your character dies). See this article for the shadow clone variations that can spawn when activating. Kanai’s Cube: Kanai’s Cube will have a fourth slot this season. This fourth slot will have the choices of the first 3 slots but will not stack with any of them, providing additional flexibility to your build. Return to Top Season Cosmetic Rewards
Beginning with Season 17, we began re-introducing previous Seasonal rewards to make them available to any who may have missed them the first time around. For Season 33, this means awards originally available from Season 9 are returning to the Season Journey. However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve already participated in previous Seasons. We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic rewards for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Prove your worth in the Trial of Tempests to earn the Stupendous Contraption pet and the Industrial Portrait Frame.
In addition to the Chest and Gloves slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, you’ll be able to earn the Pandemonium portraits, and the cute and craggily Rocky pet first introduced in Season 9. Return to Top Season Journey Rewards
If you’ve been diligently slaying demons before and reached Conqueror in the Season Journey each time, you’ve surely accrued a few extra stash tabs. Want to prepare your Conquest plan for Season 33? Here are the challenges you’ll face: For Curses!/Stars Align, pick any Cursed Chest event that requires killing monsters and defeat over 350 or more at level 70 on Torment X or higher. Also returning for Season 33 is Sprinter/Speed Racer, where you’re challenged to complete the entire Diablo III campaign from Act I to Act V at Level 70 in under an hour! Next is Avarice/Avaritia, where all that glitters is gold—that is, if you can complete a 50 million Gold streak outside of The Vault or its Inner Sanctum. We're also bringing Thrill/Superhuman, which requires completion of a Greater Rift Level 45—solo and without any Set items equipped. And lastly we'll be bringing back Speed Demon/Need for Speed, meaning you'll need to beat a Torment X Nephalem Rift at Level 70 in 2 minutes. Best of luck! Return to Top Haedrig’s Gift
Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. Our next patch goes live on October 22 and introduces quality-of-life updates for demon slayers on Mac. New Mac Executables/Mac Native Silicon and Intel: These updates will allow Diablo III to run on new versions of the macOS. PC Experience Stability: This PTR is open to both Mac and PC players. While the focal point of the 2.7.8 PTR is to test technical updates for Mac, we want PC users to monitor their playing experience as well. Here's a preview of Season 33 and Patch 2.7.8 that will soon be available for testing on the PTR.
      Shades of Nephalem Theme
In the latest Diablo III Season, the Shades of Nephalem season theme marks a return. Activating a Shrine or Pylon will spawn in a shadow clone of your class. The clone's power wil scale with your character and last for one minute or until death.

      Fourth Kanai's Cube Slot
In addition to the season theme, Kanai's Cube will have an additional fourth slot.

      Season 33 Start?
We expect Season 33 to start in late September/early October 2024.
      PTR Testing
Patch 2.7.8 will be available for testing for one week. Initially, Blizzard planned to test out the patch from September 17 through September 24, but they ran into some unexpected issues and testing has been delayed. New Mac executables for Silicon and Intel chips will be available in this build, as revealed by Blizzard.
