Hey all, I'm rather new to Diablo (only started playing a few days ago). Please correct me if I'm missing something, as I'm still quite a low-leveled Monk. Deadset's guide requires Exploding Palm binded to right-click, and Dashing Strike binded to Key 2 in both of his builds, Solo or Speedrun. The issue for me is that Exploding Palm can only be binded to Key 2 for me--do I have to rebind my keys? Will I have an option later on as I reach level cap to rebind Key slot skills to left/right mouse clicks?

Please clarify for me asap, thanks.

Answering my own question--found that you can fully customize your skill binds with an option called Elective mode in the game settings.

I'm curious as to how viable is mystic rhythm with 2.4.2's changes? It seems like snapshotting no longer works??

Thanks for the guide!

Hey, to my understanding Mythic Rhythm is still very much a required passive for the build, what was taken out was the interaction between the Uliana 2 piece bonus with the passive, which simply results in more consistent EP snapshotting.

This change was mentioned in PTR notes but isn't included in the live patch notes. Can you confirm that this is indeed the case? Perhaps add that to the body of the build guide.

Guest Uliana's The Same

Unfortunately, there's been absolutely NO changes in the upcoming Season 8, therefore, this build will likely stay the same. just like every other build will.

Sad, or Good, but true.  :)

Yeah, we'll just make a few minor adjustments and call it "Season 8" :p

I found the change, it is indeed implemented:

Mythic Rhythm

The damage bonus from Mythic Rhythm is now consumed on manually applied Spirit spenders and not automatically from items or set bonuses.

Is there indeed a small patch, Season 8,  for U2 and/or MR ?

    http://us.battle.net/forums/en/d3/topic/20749795686

------------------------------------------

question:

"In order to progress in high GR is using a snapshot of the passive Mythic Rhythm still required?"

answer 1:

"Not as much as it used to be. I don't know which patch, but I believe the 2-piece bonus now applies EP that can take advantage of area damage. Now you still need to snapshot to take full advantage of mythic rhythm if you want to push the highest GRs. But for reference I was able to complete a GR78 without snapshotting. That said, it was non-season and I had almost all ancients and a couple of augments. So depending on gear you might need snapshotting to finish GR75 for the season journey. But it is less required than it once was."

answer 2:

"I cleared 89 on ps4 without mytic rythem. That's proudly about 91 on pc with its better density and no ng to worry about.Just put cdr and area damage every where possible. Didn't even look at the rotation of coe. Gear was all ancient exept compas rose ascend travellers pledge. They had near perfect rolls though. Paragon was about 1400. Now area damage works its a very powerful set. Rg took nearly 4 mins though"

-------------------------------

according to above that I've read, it appears that MR may/may not? be needed as much now. Either I'm confused about this now, or I misunderstood the mechanics/interaction of U2/MR ?,  or both  :)

This opinion is reinforced by an excellent source of Monk testing that I often refer to: http://us.battle.net/forums/en/d3/topic/16527322731

To my knowledge no changes, big or small, have been made for Season 8.

Thx,

"Guest U6andMR" here,

I also posted the above question with alternate answer 1, and 2 above.  This is my first time using Uliana's, and  MR-snapshotting,  or, being able to tactfully use MR seems to be quite an "Art" form :)

I'll check out the Davlok testing stats link again, since those are not dependent on super-high paragon points, great gear, ... for a better understanding of MR interaction, and also, since atleast those "testings" are accurately gauge-able, instead of just trying to follow others' bragging-rights, -as true? as they may be.  -no insults intended.

Thanks again, for clearing this up.

Advice please? I've gone Monk this season, just gotten Uliana's full set from Haedrig, have the belt and bracers, no gems, no cubed stuff. I am dying so fast - even on t5. Ideas please? What should I focus on obtaining?

The cube weapon is a pretty big deal, since it allows you to maintain SSS a lot more often, which in turn means less time taking damage. If you're really struggling to stay alive, trying to get Lefebvre's SoliloquyLefebvre's Soliloquy soon would also help.

Hey, some pointers:

- You have some of the base necessary gear, but it has many incorrect rolls. Look carefully through the stat recommendations in the guide and try to reroll you gear with the Mystic to get as close as you can. Some of it you can literally fix by rerolling a single stat: Life regen to Cooldown Reduction on the Shoulders, Life per Hit to Crit Chance on Helm, Dashing Strike % to Elite Damage Reduction on the Chest, Way of the Hundred Fists % to Armor on the Pants, Tempest Rush % to Exploding Palm % on the Boots, Life per Hit to Crit Damage on the Gloves, Way of the Hundred Fists % to Life % on the Belt, Area Damage to Crit Damage on Avarice Band, All Resist to Crit Damage on Convention of Elements, Armor to Socket on the Amulet.

- Replace the Inna weapon as soon as you can for the two one-handed weapons recommended in the guide,  The Fist of Az'Turrasq and  Lion's Claw .

- Prioritize  The Flow of Eternity  and Lefebvre's Soliloquy for the Cube as soon as possible.

Hello all,

As a casual player, the MR discussion above is extremely confusing to me for this build.

I've applied the skills, runes and passives exactly recommended by Deadset and is using the following rotation:

  1. Find a dense pack
  2. Apply Cyclone Strike to make it even denser
  3. Hit at least three times with Way of the Hundred Fists, Uliana's 2 item bonus applies Exploding Palm
  4. (if I'm not dead just yet because steps 2 and 3 takes at least a few seconds without dealing any significant damange) Detonate with Seven Sided Strike
  5. Profit - pretty much everything affected by Exploding Palm is dead at this point

Now, I have a few important questions:

  • By NOT applying Exploding Palm manually between steps 3 and 4, am I forfeiting Mythic Rhythm's bonus altogether (due to 2.4.2 patch making Mythic Rhythm bonus to be consumed only over manually applied spirit spenders) or am using its bonus over Seven Sided Strike, losing a lot of potential damage in the process?
  • If I indeed have to apply EP manually to take full advantage of MR (which seems extremely tedious), can I ditch MR and use another passive? Determination seems logical, for example, since an Uliana monk should always be involved in dense packs.
  • Does snapshotting still work as of Season 8 / 2.4.2 or not?
  • If snapshotting still works as of 2.4.2, is there no other way of applying it other than having monsters with EP applied chase you around and bringing them close to other packs without EP?
  • I keep dying mostly by step 4 because step 3 takes a little bit too much time. Any suggestions?
  • Should I already ditch Uliana for Raiment generator build, which has better DPS and FAR easier mechanics from what I understand? :)

Thank you very much for your answers in advance!

Hey!

The Mythic Rhythm snapshotting explanations are there for the sake of completeness, as the MR snap is a slightly questionable mechanic that's able to increase your damage by a significant margin,

BUT!

that should be seriously considered once you start pushing against the limitations of your gear in high end Greater Rifts. In fact, a well geared Uliana Monk should start considering that mechanic past GR 80 (and some players report not taking it into account even higher).

Your rotation is correct. Focus on improving your gear and rolls, and only take the MR section into account everything else is in place. You will still benefit from MR even without the manual application shenanigans, you will just not take it beyond its intended limits; MR also provides with a 40% multiplicative damage increase vs. Determination's 20% additive, tipping the scales heavily in MR's favor. The passive should just be remade to be more player friendly, that's all.

The reason why I say you'd better focus on gear and rolls is because steps 1-4 should not take much time at all; it makes me think you either delay Seven Sided Strike too much, when the skill should have (with proper CDR) very minimal downtime, or it's gear/rolls issue. You should be decently protected by Cyclone + Lefebvre's, I often even skip it in speedruns, as described in the guide. If you link me your character, I can give you some more specific pointers.

I see. Lefebvre's missing currently, which is probably why I die that fast in T7. The two fist weapons are also missing. I still have quite a bit of way to go :(

I just found that Crippling Wave with the energy rune is helping more than hundred fists with my gear -- my biggest problem is surviving when I'm out of energy, because the Def CDs are expensive! I got the weapon and armor cubed, but I'm still like an ice cube in hell most of the time, even at t6 - still working on reforging, but no unity pair or Travellers pledge yet (I suspect those will make things much better).

Guest RCR?

Hi Deadset and all!

I'm using this build in S8 right now and I like it very much. So first I want to thank you for all the effort you put in your guides!

I'm pushing GRs in the 50s and solo pretty fast T10 right now. The only problem I have is the spirit management. I cant SSS on cooldown because it drains my spirit way too fast. I'm not using Cyclone anymore cause it would drain my spirit even faster. As surviving isn't a problem I cubed a Madstone and so I "wouldn't need" a spirit generator at all, but after a few SSSs I always find myself standing at a single mob and hitting it for quite a while just to replenish the spirit. That feels kind of odd because I massaker whole screens of mobs just to chop like 10 seconds on a single mob after that. The guide only suggests CDR but no RCR at all, am I missing something here cause I cant use the CD reduced SSS enough.

My second question is: should I switch to another build soon?
I have pretty much everything needed for Shenlong-Raiment (with 1 Shenlong Fist being ancient), LTK-Sunwuko and/or WoL-Sunwuko. I have read that LTK and/or WoL would be better/faster for farming and Shenlong would be better for endgame GR pushing. Is that right?

Thx again

hey, I 'm not sure this is much of an answer, but I found using Crippling Wave w the rune that boosts spirit works wonders, but more so, use SSS BEFORE you start hitting -- if you have that belt it increases survival a lot, esp if you dont have EW or 2xUnity yet.

But I came here to check something - if you roll elemental damage off the weapons, you end up with something like 350 weapon damage. Is that correct?

Heya! So definitely, focus on obtaining the priority legendaries for the build (Gungdo Gear by far, Lefebvre's for the Cube, and the two weapons). You might also find that with an unleveled Boon of the Hoarder, you gain more toughness by simply wearing Binding of the Lost. Until you find Lefebvre's, run Mantra of Salvation Agility for a decent boost of toughness.

Current gear reroll recommendations:

Shoulders - Seven-Sided Strike % to CDR (CDR = more Exploding Palm detonations, the damage of SSS is negligible in the build)

Gloves - Attack Speed to Crit Damage

Focus ring - Attack Speed to Crit Chance

Restraint ring - Life Regen to Crit Damage

Bracer - Life per Hit to Cold % damage (but this needs to be Gungdo Gear asap, first priority!)

Hello and thanks! I find the struggle for Spirit odd though, you should not need RCR with Epiphany's high uptime in the build. By simply holding down the generator button in a fight and spamming SSS as it comes and goes off cooldown, and keeping up Epiphany as much as possible, I've never had resource issues. Could it be a playstyle thing?

As for switching up, it is entirely up to you. :) You have assessed correctly though, Sunwuko-based builds excel at speedfarm, and Shenlong generators - at pushing.

Correct, you end up with the base weapon damage. A few builds can take advantage of that tactic for a free primary affix, but Uliana Monks are not among them.

oh wait, so I shouldn't roll off the elemental damage? In your stats priority you say "weapon damage" as #1 desired stat, I assumed that meant the %age weapon damage bonus, not the maximun elemental bonus.

      Haedrig’s Gift
      Patch 2.7.8
      Season Theme
The shadows, they are moving, and they seem… animated. Like they have a will of their own. Whatever this trickery is, perhaps you can use it to your advantage. Let’s see what the demons say when you fight side by side with your own shadow! Shadows of the Past: Activating a Shrine/Pylon will spawn in a shadow clone of your class, who will come with a randomly chosen 1 of 3 predetermined builds. This clone's power will scale with your character and will last for 1 minute (unless your character dies). See this article for the shadow clone variations that can spawn when activating. Kanai’s Cube: Kanai’s Cube will have a fourth slot this season. This fourth slot will have the choices of the first 3 slots but will not stack with any of them, providing additional flexibility to your build. Return to Top Season Cosmetic Rewards
Beginning with Season 17, we began re-introducing previous Seasonal rewards to make them available to any who may have missed them the first time around. For Season 33, this means awards originally available from Season 9 are returning to the Season Journey. However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve already participated in previous Seasons. We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic rewards for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Prove your worth in the Trial of Tempests to earn the Stupendous Contraption pet and the Industrial Portrait Frame.
In addition to the Chest and Gloves slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, you’ll be able to earn the Pandemonium portraits, and the cute and craggily Rocky pet first introduced in Season 9. Return to Top Season Journey Rewards
If you’ve been diligently slaying demons before and reached Conqueror in the Season Journey each time, you’ve surely accrued a few extra stash tabs. You’ll earn one additional tab each Season by finishing the Conqueror tier, up to a maximum of five: Guardian of Sanctuary: Finish a Level 70 Nephalem Rift on Torment XIII difficulty within five minutes. Gem of My Life: Level three Legendary Gems to level 55. All I Do is Win: Complete 2 Conquests this Season. Life Goes On: Kill Maghda at Level 70 in under fifteen seconds on Torment XIII difficulty. Money Ain’t a Thang: Slay Greed on Torment XIII difficulty. Treasure Goblins outside of Nephalem Rifts will sometimes open portals to Greed’s domain, The Vault. Take U There: Reach Greater Rift Level 60 Solo. Greater Rift keystones can be obtained from any Nephalem Rift guardian. Power Amplification: Use Kanai’s Cube to augment an Ancient Legendary item with a Level 50+ gem. Cubic Reconfiguration: Use Kanai’s Cube to reforge a Legendary item. Return to Top Seasonal Conquest
Want to prepare your Conquest plan for Season 33? Here are the challenges you’ll face: For Curses!/Stars Align, pick any Cursed Chest event that requires killing monsters and defeat over 350 or more at level 70 on Torment X or higher. Also returning for Season 33 is Sprinter/Speed Racer, where you’re challenged to complete the entire Diablo III campaign from Act I to Act V at Level 70 in under an hour! Next is Avarice/Avaritia, where all that glitters is gold—that is, if you can complete a 50 million Gold streak outside of The Vault or its Inner Sanctum. We're also bringing Thrill/Superhuman, which requires completion of a Greater Rift Level 45—solo and without any Set items equipped. And lastly we'll be bringing back Speed Demon/Need for Speed, meaning you'll need to beat a Torment X Nephalem Rift at Level 70 in 2 minutes. Best of luck! Return to Top Haedrig’s Gift
Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works: Completing Acts II, III, and IV of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts. Each Gift contains a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. Players can only unlock one Class Set in this manner per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so choose wisely! The set you receive depends on the class of the character you’re playing when you open each Haedrig’s Gift. To collect a full Class Set, you’ll need to open all three on the same character. Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 33: Barbarian - Might of the Earth Crusader - Thorns of the Invoker Demon Hunter - The Shadow's Mantle Monk - Monkey King's Garb Witch Doctor - Raiment of the Jade Harvester Wizard - Firebird's Finery Necromancer - Grace of Inarius Return to Top Patch 2.7.8
Our next patch goes live on October 22 and introduces quality-of-life updates for demon slayers on Mac. New Mac Executables/Mac Native Silicon and Intel: These updates will allow Diablo III to run on new versions of the macOS. PC Experience Stability: This PTR is open to both Mac and PC players. While the focal point of the 2.7.8 PTR is to test technical updates for Mac, we want PC users to monitor their playing experience as well. Season Theme
As the Nephalem reflect on Sanctuary's history, instruments of power from a bygone era resurface. These ethereal memories will grant those persistent enough to search for them unimaginable power. Legends of the past will manifest once more in the present, and you must decide how to best use these gifts—for ethereal power is fugacious by nature, and will soon return to being no more than a myth.
For this seasonal theme, we were inspired to reimagine how Ethereal items could manifest in Diablo III, with 21 iconic weapons making a return from Diablo II. In Season 32, Ethereals are rare, powerful, and fleeting items.
Season 32 reintroduces Ethereals, a weapon-type that players will be able to acquire and hunt for in their upcoming seasonal journey. Ethereals will roll a powerful set of affixes, a random Class Weapon Legendary Power and a random Class Passive Power. Ethereals will have unique icons, names, item types, and sounds originally found in Diablo II. For additional details on Ethereals, check out the list below:
Ethereals are account bound and can only be dropped by monsters, chests, and destructibles, but do not require your character to be Level 70 in order to drop. Ethereals cannot be acquired through Kanai's Cube or from Kadala. Ethereal rarity drop rate is set between Ancient and Primal items. There are 3 unique Ethereals per class. Each Ethereal has fixed affixes and rolls one random Legendary Weapon power and one random Class Passive Skill. Only one Ethereal can be equipped at a time. Ethereals ignore item durability loss. Legendary Powers and Class Passive Skills rolled on Ethereals do not stack with the same power equipped through Kanai's Cube, Items or Skills. Ethereals cannot be Enchanted, Transmogrified, Dyed, Reforged, or traded. Ethereals can be augmented. Collecting all 21 Ethereals during the season will reward players with the Feat of Strength, Ethereal Recollection. Players who accomplish this will have all Ethereal transmogrify options available for future seasonal and non-seasonal play. Ethereals only drop in Seasonal play and will not transfer to your non-seasonal character when the season ends. Return to Top
      Season Cosmetic Rewards
Beginning with Season 17, we began re-introducing previous Seasonal rewards to make them available to players who may have missed them the first time around. For Season 32, this means awards originally available from Season 8 are returning to the Season Journey.

However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve participated in previous Seasons. We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic rewards for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Feast your eyes upon the Teganze Warrior Portrait Frame and Bat pet!

In addition to the Boots and Pants slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, you’ll be able to earn a series of portrait frames that smolder with demonic fires of the Burning Hells. The iconic wings of Andariel will also be available once more, allowing you to truly embrace your inner Maiden of Anguish.

      Haedrig’s Gift
Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey (courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift) have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works:
Completing Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts.
Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 32:
Barbarian – Immortal King’s Call Crusader – Seeker of the Light Demon Hunter – Natalya’s Vengeance Monk – Uliana’s Stratagem Necromancer – Trag’Oul’s Avatar Witch Doctor – Spirit of Arachyr Wizard – Vyr’s Amazing Arcana
