Hello and thanks! I find the struggle for Spirit odd though, you should not need RCR with Epiphany's high uptime in the build. By simply holding down the generator button in a fight and spamming SSS as it comes and goes off cooldown, and keeping up Epiphany as much as possible, I've never had resource issues. Could it be a playstyle thing?

Yes, it seems to be my playstyle. I popped Epiphany only "when I needed it". But now when I just try to keep it on CD, I have way less problems with Spirit.

Thx again!

oh wait, so I shouldn't roll off the elemental damage? In your stats priority you say "weapon damage" as #1 desired stat, I assumed that meant the %age weapon damage bonus, not the maximun elemental bonus.

Weapon Damage is the range of damage listed on your weapon, for example, 1500-1900 Damage. It can be any element, it doesn't matter, you just want the highest roll possible. When you need 6-10% damage, we list it as % Weapon Damage.

I'm curious about one thing, is it possible to do T13 while maintaining in-geom in the cube for speed farming? My character is far from having "good" gear. I have all the required pieces, I also use nemesis bracers in the cube. I'm mostly just trying to create a monk that can dash between elites and destroy them without dying. I'm currently doing T11 but started to use goldwrap. Most elite packs that I encounter will die using 1 SSS. I do not have any ancient weapons, my profile damage is around 900k.

I like the uliana build more than the other two builds I tried for T13 speedfarming(lashing tail kick and raiment). My lashing tail can do T13 quite nicely using in-geom but I just don't like the sweeping wind mechanic. It annoys me so much, that's why I'm looking at uliana.

Basically the goal would be to destroy an elite pack using 1 SSS since with my CDR it has about 7-8 seconds cooldown. I love dashing around using in-geom in the cube. Is it really worth using focus+restraint over any other alternatives for speedfarming? Not sure what sort of "profile" damage would be required to kill an elite pack at T13 using 1 SSS. In the case I can't kill the pack using 1 SSS I'm going to need something more than just goldwrap to keep me up for 7-8 seconds.

How much CDR is enough? At which point is any additional cooldown reduction not worth it compared to other rolls? 50%? 60%? No limit?

As for an actual figure, I don't know. From a playstyle PoV, more CDR = more SSS = more survivability and damage. When this no longer happens, you have enough CDR.

I feel like you might be looking at the wrong build, then. I would use a Dash Monk instead, if I'm honest.

  • If snapshotting still works as of 2.4.2, is there no other way of applying it other than having monsters with EP applied chase you around and bringing them close to other packs without EP?
  • I keep dying mostly by step 4 because step 3 takes a little bit too much time. Any suggestions?

I'm having the same thought of ditching MR. But after thought it over, I decided to keep it. Think of it this way, you can still apply MR to one selective tough target like RG or yellow mob. Most of the time, only one tough target need the 40% bonus. The rest of the white mob is still easy to kill without it. As for dying in step 4. I suggest you cube the spirit guard and wear the cyclone shoulder with RoRG. Wear Travellers set and COE/SOJ if you're group. The extra 40% DR when you spam generator is going to help greatly.

First of all, this Guide is awesome.

I play this Build somewhat differently. For Cyclone i take the Mantra of Salvation and in the cube i have frostburn (for the cold dmg) instead of lefebvre's.

Is that a viable option for higher rifts (65+) or is the dmg reduction of the lefebvre's/cyclone combo the safer way to go?

Or is this worth to mentioned as an alternative?

Why does the guide suggest that I have both exploding palm AND dashing strike? Not sure if you've noticed, but I can only assign one of the skills at any given time. The same with seven-sided strike, cyclone and epiphany.

There's an option called Elective Mode, which allows you to put skills on any action slot (1, 2, 3, 4, LMB, and RMB) so long as it is not mutually exclusive with other skills (think: Monk Mantras, which are explicitly 1 active)..  You can find this option by going to Options > Gameplay.

Lefeb is definitely worth keeping. Without it, when you enter higher rifts, you'll feel a HUGE difference in your damage taken. I doubt you can push past 75 without it tbh.

Can someone explain why life per second is more important than resist all/armor/life% in some cases?

My guess is that it's always in work whether you're kiting or just CC'd into oblivion and can't proc any life on hit. I wouldn't say it's more important than all resist though but through the use of Harmony, you don't want all resist and you just want a single resist stat per item so that you can get 100% of that stat resist and 40% extra of that amount for all the resists as well. You can't have both All Resist and a singular resist on a piece of gear in case you aren't sure about it.

Ok, so:

  • LPS vs. RA: Resist All basically sucks for Monks on gear because of how Harmony interacts with singular resistances. It's not the worst stat ever, but it does actually benefit you less compared to taking a singular resistance. If you a take a singular resistance, you can't then roll RA on it.
  • LPS vs. Armour: Armour works by reducing incoming damage, right? There are huge periods where you simply won't be touchable by mobs since you will be in your SSS. This means that there are periods where Armour is actually doing nothing for you. Instead, you can take slightly more damage and instead allow your health to just regen while you are inside your SSS or pulling the next pack.
  • LPS vs L%: Similar explanation as above. There is not point having huge amounts of life if you aren't outside of SSS for long enough to take that much damage. The only thing that L% can do is stop one shots, but even then you should be able to either avoid them with SSS or just dodge the mechanic.

Hope this adds a bit more to the previous response.

Question, while I'm still farming for an Ancient The Fist of Az'Turrasq or Lion's Claw as I only have normal's of each.

In the interim I was trying to use only 1 of those with another Ancient weapon like an ancient Azurewrath I have which has 19% cold damage bonus. I'm using the Fist of Az'Turrasg with it, but I'm wondering if that's the best way to go about it or not?

I'm really struggling to stay alive past T10, any ideas why? I think some of it has to do with play style.. For some reason I can't move from pack-to-pack with epiphany.. Don't know why I struggle so much with it. Here's my build: http://www.d3planner.com/921283777

Guest Wrong wrong wrong...

First off Cyclone Strike is 100% wasted. You DO NOT need it if you play correctly. If you're using spirit and time to cyclone mobs in, you're doing it wrong. The whole goal of Uliana monk is to dart around the map looking for density. You apply EP, spread with SSS and move on finding the next pack, working your way between large packs (unless you one shot them, common at low lvl 20-60GR). Instead try Mantra of Salvation with Agility rune. The passive with rune is alone worth 11 million toughness.

Second the Fist of Az'Turassq is not first priority, it is second. Lion Claw's 7 extra SSS hits means 7 extra explosions. Which is more of an upgrade from barebones than 3x damage.

Third, the jewelry should be Focus/Restraint, always. Because you will always have 100% increase damage if you are playing correctly, and Hellfire Amulet with a toughness passive is preferred, rolled with Cold %, CHD, CHC.

All pieces you want secondary resist (phys being preferred) with crit trifecta where possible (trifecta = CHD CHC CDR). Only pieces with toughness are belt, torso, legs, boots usually.

Watch Quin69's Uliana monk video, a lot of what he says is still correct

what if i use thye ring of royal grandeur on the cube, instead of unity, use conventions of the elements and use Lefebvre's Soliloquy instead of the Ulianas shoulder..... so i can use both the protection from this shoulder and the burst from the Madstone armor...... would it not be better? unity is usefull if other friends are using it or your companion bot....

Hi Deadset.. thank you for this build, i've set up my monk following the written instructions literally.. I have several questions:

1. My spirit is being depleted so fast so very often i'm without spirit.. Any suggestions?

2. Above GR60 i feel so squishy..I'm doing good damage, but I'm duying at least 3-4 times per greater rift... I have only 2 emeralds in gear, and rest are all diamonds... How can I improve survaivability?

For anyone still wondering on this - keep both weapons, even if they are badly rolled. An ancient item won't outdo the damage of either unless it is a primal ancient and your current is terribly rolled.

Binding of the Lost was the issue here - you didn't have it at the time and so your survivability took a hit without it. You needed better rolled items to be able to use Goldwrap at 11+.

It seems something went very wrong with Season 33, as it it just... ended a while ago. Players took to the forums as there was no early warning, other than a server message around an hour before it all ended. PezRadar responded clarifying that this is not intended and that Blizzard are looking into what happened.
      Season End (Source)
Heard and got some pings while I’ve been out and I have production checking on this early end. This shouldn’t have ended today so something is funky. Will provide an update once I hear back.

Kanai’s Cube: Kanai’s Cube will have a fourth slot this season. Beginning with Season 17, we began re-introducing previous Seasonal rewards to make them available to any who may have missed them the first time around. For Season 33, this means awards originally available from Season 9 are returning to the Season Journey. However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve already participated in previous Seasons. Also returning for Season 33 is Sprinter/Speed Racer, where you’re challenged to complete the entire Diablo III campaign from Act I to Act V at Level 70 in under an hour! Next is Avarice/Avaritia, where all that glitters is gold—that is, if you can complete a 50 million Gold streak outside of The Vault or its Inner Sanctum. We're also bringing Thrill/Superhuman, which requires completion of a Greater Rift Level 45—solo and without any Set items equipped. And lastly we'll be bringing back Speed Demon/Need for Speed, meaning you'll need to beat a Torment X Nephalem Rift at Level 70 in 2 minutes. Best of luck! Return to Top Haedrig’s Gift
