Why not use exalted soul in passives?

 

You can substitute Beacon of Ytar for it, but the drop in CDR will really hit your Toughness and Utility cooldowns.

Hi!

I tried using Depth Diggers instead of Crudest Boots in the cube. It was less good (damage was crappy), but I don't really see why. Any ideas?

You get50% increased damage for each mystic ally.

If I need more toughness, should I use esoteric or mutilation? Also, toying with the idea of gogok of swiftness and swapping seize the initiative for momentum. Thoughts?

I'd vote Esoteric over Mutilation - even in the presence of Harmony it remains a stronger, more consistent gem. Momentum is a very mediocre passive (20% additive damage for a pretty demanding requirement, which also happens to clash with the Endless Walk set mechanics, and that's a 100% multiplicative damage bonus when sitting still). I would only run it in speedfarm Wave of Light builds.

The one I'm trying now instead of Seize the Initiative is Exalted Soul, since we get a 1.5% bonus to damage for each point of Spirit and I'm often running at maximum, thus 75% additive.  The increased spirit regeneration is frosting.  The loss of attack speed is unfortunate but I make it up by prioritizing Paragon Offense as Crit Chance, Attack Speed, Crit Damage, Cooldown Reduction.

I don't like the Endless Walk mechanism, as I feel like the "damage increased by holding still" is completely against how I play as a monk. Can I hold still and fight? Sure. I guess it's really useful against rift guardians, but during the rift I'm pretty much all over the place. Currently, I'm using a Unity, Convention of Elements, and a decent Hellfire Amulet with the Momentum passive. I know it's not the best passive to get, but still better than some others. My hellfire is ok, it's 640 dexterity, 94% crit damage, 9.5 crit chance, and obviously socketed. Is my combination better than Endless Walk? Ehh...I don't know. Math experts will probably tell me my way is worse, but I can't see much difference. The big difference is probably the Endless Walk damage reduction, but I get enough from Spirit Guard and Unity for now. Thoughts?

I have a question that I feel is glaringly obvious but no one else has touched on.  Why Breath of Heaven when you can have unruned Mystic Ally?  I realize it's a heal on a small cooldown with a short Resource boost, but I feel there is far more utility from being able to activate 2x all five allies.  Total heal, 200 spirit, 10 damage bombs, 2 freeze and slow waves, and 2 rolling stuns, all with 50% increased damage.  I feel like that is far more valuable than a mediocre heal and spirit regen boost.

You are correct, the potential for 50% DR during movement is the key factor. In higher GRs, this gives you more wiggle room to skip, organize better fights with Cyclone Strike, scout for Pylons, etc. At it's full potential when you've stopped, it is far better than CoE's rotating cycles + the minor additive damage boost from Momentum. That being said, if you're running content you don't feel threatened by, you can run Focus and Restraint + Hellfire for the biggest damage output of all options.

 

As for the Breath of Heaven, it's mostly a question of uptime. BoH has half the cooldown of Allies, and their most important positive (putting you at max Spirit when your damage output hinges on it due to Shenlongs) is virtually always available with BoH.

with 2.4.1 changes in Gogok Swiftness, is it a good idea to change it with Bane of Trapped. Because with 2.4.1 chages Gogok gives attack speed (%100 with each attack) dodge and cooldown reduction. note that attack speed means not only more attacks but also more spirit.

tested on GR 60 with gogok swiftness and bane of trapped (both rank 50)

gogok swiftness seemed better even without 2.4.1 buff.

Deadset, just a quick shout out of thanks for all the wonderful guides you offer. I have learned so much. The generator Monk is one I think I am going to try in Season 6. I love simple builds and NOT having to constantly look at the elemental cycle of Convention of Elements will be most welcome. smile.png Seems like every single build you have to do that. Lol. I usually play with my clanmates so what ring would you recommend instead of Unity? Maybe a Stone of Jordan with Holy %?

Given the scaling of BotT with levels vs the cap of Gogok, I'd be surprised if it ends up as the better gem. I can run a few simulations though, and the Toughness would definitely improve. It's an interesting proposal. 

 

Seems like every single build you have to do that. Lol. I usually play with my clanmates so what ring would you recommend instead of Unity? Maybe a Stone of Jordan with Holy %?

 

Both options would be viable, if less powerful than CoE and its admittedly annoying cycle-watching!

 

 

What do you think about Broken Promisesring instead of  Convention of Elements , reroll all crit chance for other stats?

 

Again, an interesting proposal. I will have to run simulations to make sure though. I'll make a point to revisit the thread once I have.

Hello! In short, it's because Fists of Furry adds up to the highest amount of damage when coupled with its DoT effect, as well as offering a superb proc rate which affects the number of times the cubed Flying Dragon activates. Over time, it will add to a significant difference in its favor. That being said, for pure farming or lower tier Greater Rifts, you can use any generator you like - Blazing Fists included!

i did try the build. i really like it.  im doing fine with greater rift level 50. the dps is awesome. but when i tried doing even higher greater rifts lets say 55-60. my main issue is survivability.  any tips on how to work things out when it comes to staying alive more longer on high rifts?

Have you followed closely the stats priority chart? Assuming reasonable items (and especially not neglecting secondary resists - remember those feed into Harmony for your overall toughness), you should not be pressured before 70+. Perhaps you can link me to your battle.net character, so I could give you more specific advice? :)

Hey - your stats are actually pretty good across the board, and you have followed the guide directions closely it seems! Not much I can say besides "grind more Paragons and upgrade gems!", haha. :) Some things I can recommend:

- Change the skill damage roll on the pants to Vit temporarily, and seek out Dex/Vit/Skill damage/Secondary resist pants in the future.

- Change the Area Damage roll on the shoulder to Vit as well. And look for a Dex/Vit/CDR/AD roll next.

- Consider swapping AD from the Shenlong Fist to Life per Hit? Depending on how you feel about sustain

- Try out Dashing Strike Blinding Speed in Radiance's place until you grind out some additional Paragons/perfect the spec.

i fully understand how the build works now!! i really love it and im doing gr level 70(solo) i just got back in playing d3 and a noob of course. i was planning to start with the dashing strike(rainment gameplay) but some how the shenlongs fist  came across to my mind and i googled it up. man. im a monk player ever since and i love using fist weapons as a monk especially those shenlongs and this guide is just the one im looking for!

theirs a lot of changes in my items. i did upgraded my ancients and im looking for a new shenlong ancient that has weapon damage and life per hit. right now i have attack speed and weapon damage it was suppose to be spirit regen stat but i change it to weapon damage. did i do the right thing?

how about a stone of jordan as second ring if we dont have survival issues? it gives huge damage boost if we are lucky to get one with holy damage increase.

am i missing anything ? i see ur and quins inna generator build, both with crudest boots cubed but no mystic ally skill. how to bring the 10 allies to life ? i have all set boni and NONE allie around me :S i cant understand how u count them in without having the skill sad.png

      The shadows, they are moving, and they seem… animated. Like they have a will of their own. Whatever this trickery is, perhaps you can use it to your advantage. Let’s see what the demons say when you fight side by side with your own shadow! Shadows of the Past: Activating a Shrine/Pylon will spawn in a shadow clone of your class, who will come with a randomly chosen 1 of 3 predetermined builds. This clone's power will scale with your character and will last for 1 minute (unless your character dies). See this article for the shadow clone variations that can spawn when activating. Kanai’s Cube: Kanai’s Cube will have a fourth slot this season. Next is Avarice/Avaritia, where all that glitters is gold—that is, if you can complete a 50 million Gold streak outside of The Vault or its Inner Sanctum. We're also bringing Thrill/Superhuman, which requires completion of a Greater Rift Level 45—solo and without any Set items equipped.       Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works: Completing Acts II, III, and IV of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts. Each Gift contains a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. Players can only unlock one Class Set in this manner per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so choose wisely! The set you receive depends on the class of the character you’re playing when you open each Haedrig’s Gift. To collect a full Class Set, you’ll need to open all three on the same character.       Shades of Nephalem Theme
      In the latest Diablo III Season, the Shades of Nephalem season theme marks a return. Activating a Shrine or Pylon will spawn in a shadow clone of your class. The clone's power wil scale with your character and last for one minute or until death.

      Fourth Kanai's Cube Slot
      In addition to the season theme, Kanai's Cube will have an additional fourth slot.

      Season 33 Start?
      We expect Season 33 to start in late September/early October 2024.
      PTR Testing
      Patch 2.7.8 will be available for testing for one week. Initially, Blizzard planned to test out the patch from September 17 through September 24, but they ran into some unexpected issues and testing has been delayed. New Mac executables for Silicon and Intel chips will be available in this build, as revealed by Blizzard.

      Season 33 Rewards
      The upcoming season mirrors Season 22 in terms of rewards, so here's what you can get.
      The Head and Shoulder slots of the Conqueror Set are coming, alongside Black Soulstone-themed portratis and the Loremaster pennant.

      Complete the Season 33 journey to earn the Book of Cain pet and the Lost Civilization Portrait Frame.

      Here are the Conqueror requirements for Diablo III in the upcoming season. This will grant you an additional stash tab (up to a max of 5).

      Guardian of Sanctuary: Finish a level 70 Nephalem Rift on Torment XIII difficulty within five minutes. Gem of My Life: Level three Legendary Gems to level 55.       Season 32 of Diablo 3, Ethereal Memory, will go live later today, and we have prepared a list of various useful and updated guides to help you get started!
      The Season of Ethereal Memory will start later today at 5 p.m. PDT (NA Servers), 5 p.m. CEST (EU Servers), and 5 p.m. KST (Asian Servers). The theme of Season 32 was first introduced with Season 24 and is now back for another round!
      What are Ethereal Memories?
      The theme of the season reintroduces the Ethereals, which are rare and powerful items known from Diablo II and reimagined for Diablo III. You will be able to hunt for all 21 iconic weapons of Diablo 2 during the season, but this time they will be harder to find and will only drop in Ancient or Primal rarity!

      As the Nephalem reflect on Sanctuary's history, instruments of power from a bygone era resurface. These ethereal memories will grant those persistent enough to search for them unimaginable power. Legends of the past will manifest once more in the present, and you must decide how to best use these gifts—for ethereal power is fugacious by nature, and will soon return to being no more than a myth.
      For this seasonal theme, we were inspired to reimagine how Ethereal items could manifest in Diablo III, with 21 iconic weapons making a return from Diablo II. In Season 32, Ethereals are rare, powerful, and fleeting items.
      Season 32 reintroduces Ethereals, a weapon-type that players will be able to acquire and hunt for in their upcoming seasonal journey. Ethereals will roll a powerful set of affixes, a random Class Weapon Legendary Power and a random Class Passive Power. Ethereals will have unique icons, names, item types, and sounds originally found in Diablo II. For additional details on Ethereals, check out the list below:
      Ethereals are account bound and can only be dropped by monsters, chests, and destructibles, but do not require your character to be Level 70 in order to drop. Ethereals cannot be acquired through Kanai's Cube or from Kadala. Ethereal rarity drop rate is set between Ancient and Primal items. There are 3 unique Ethereals per class. Each Ethereal has fixed affixes and rolls one random Legendary Weapon power and one random Class Passive Skill. Only one Ethereal can be equipped at a time. Ethereals ignore item durability loss. Legendary Powers and Class Passive Skills rolled on Ethereals do not stack with the same power equipped through Kanai's Cube, Items or Skills. Ethereals cannot be Enchanted, Transmogrified, Dyed, Reforged, or traded. Ethereals can be augmented. Collecting all 21 Ethereals during the season will reward players with the Feat of Strength, Ethereal Recollection. Players who accomplish this will have all Ethereal transmogrify options available for future seasonal and non-seasonal play.       If you’ve been diligently slaying demons for the past few Seasons and reached Conqueror in the Season Journey each time, you’ve surely accrued a few extra stash tabs. You’ll earn one additional tab each Season by finishing the Conqueror tier, up to a maximum of 5:
      Guardian of Sanctuary: Finish a level 70 Nephalem Rift on Torment XIII difficulty within 5 minutes. Gem of My Life: Level three Legendary Gems to level 55. All I Do is Win: Complete 2 Conquests this Season. Warm Thoughts: Kill Izual at Level 70 in under 15 seconds on Torment XIII difficulty. Money Ain’t a Thang: Slay Greed on Torment XIII difficulty. Treasure Goblins outside of Nephalem Rifts will sometimes open portals to Greed’s domain, The Vault. Take U There: Reach Greater Rift Level 60 Solo. Greater Rift keystones can be obtained from any Nephalem Rift guardian. Power Amplification: Use Kanai’s Cube to augment an Ancient Legendary item with a level 50+ gem. Cubic Reconfiguration: Use Kanai’s Cube to reforge a Legendary item. Return to Top
      Seasonal Conquest
      Want to prepare your Conquest plan for Season 32? Here are the challenges you’ll face!
      For Curses!/Stars Align, pick any Cursed Chest event that requires killing monsters and defeat over 350 or more at Level 70 on Torment X or higher. Push your way to Greater Rift Level 75 to complete Divinity/Lionhearted. For the fiercest demon slayers, Boss Mode/Worlds Apart is a speed challenge where you’ll need to eliminate the following bosses at Level 70 and Torment X in under twenty minutes:
      The Skeleton King The Butcher Zoltun Kulle Ghom Cydaea Rakanoth Diablo Adria Queen Araneae Maghda Belial Siegebreaker Assault Beast Azmodan Izual Urzael Malthael Finally, Years of War/Dynasty will be a great test for those who enjoy mastering various Class Sets, and if that’s not enough, Masters of the Universe/Masters of Sets will challenge your tactical understanding of Set Dungeons.

      Haedrig’s Gift
      Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey (courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift) have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works:
      Completing Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts. Each Gift contains a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. Players can only unlock one Class Set in this manner per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so choose wisely!
      The set you receive depends on the class of the character you’re playing when you open each Haedrig’s Gift. To collect a full Class Set, you’ll need to open all three on the same character.
      Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 32:
