Raiment Shenlong Generator Monk

Recommended Posts

@Guest, yep - no worriea. Spirit Regen is not a desirable stat.

@Sabrast, you can definitely go with SoJ as long as you're not feeling threatened. It's great in speedruns.

@Calegola, you should be getting the allies automatically from the Inna 6 piece bonus! Maybe you're missing a piece?

hello again. and i have 3 more questions:

1. whats is the exact difference between crippling wave and way of hundred fists?

2. pain enchancer seems to do some nice damage. can it be used instead of bane of stricken?

3. (regarding and disregarding question 2) using the furnace in kanai's cube seems to give some nice permanent buff. is it a good idea to replace it with flying dragon

1. It boils down to: WotF - Fists of Fury has more damage potential but you need to pay attention at spreading your attacks around; Mangle deals less damage, but covers a wide AoE ark, making it easier to use.

2. Bane of the Stricken is decisive when pushing very high Greater Rifts, because the health pool of Rift Guardians starts to get very big and this gem is basically the counter to that. When doing speedruns, you can experiment a lot with gems to your preference, including Pain Enhancer, Bane of the Powerful, etc.

3. I personally wouldn't ditch Flying Dragon no matter how annoyingly RNG it can be at times, simply because the Shenlong set mechanics are very dependent on getting generator attacks out as quickly as possible.

Hi Deadset. Are you going to recommend dropping Inna's for the generator build in light of the 6 piece Raiment buff that is coming in 2.4.2? I see on the PTR leaderboards that the top Monks are not using Innas.

Each mystic ally increases damage by 50%, that's 500% w 10 up. They each do 130% weapon damage, that's 1130% weapon damage w 10 up. New raiment damage increase is already beat. Water ally slows enemies, fire ally increases damage by another 10%, air ally increases spirit regen, enduring ally heals, and earth increases life. Unless they either nerf inna's or at least double the 6 piece raiment damage bonus, I don't see inna's being replaced, it offers to much in damage, toughness, and utility. However inner sanctuary will need to be swapped out after the patch, no more damage increase ??

forgot to mention the fact that all the mystic ally passives are quadrupled thanks to the 2 set bonus and the cubed crudest boots (so 40% increased damage from fire ally), as well as the mantras increasing damage, defense, and healing. Nope, I don't think they'll be buffing raiment enough to replace inna's

Hey Deadset, I am curious if you could comment on the decision to drop the Innas part of this build.  I am aware of the buff (almost 3x if I recall?) to the raiment armor, however that proc is restricted to dashing strike every 6 seconds.  Additionally, Inna's mantra capability should already overwhelm the buff anyway, should it not?

Really looking forward to hearing your reply on this, and thank you for all the work you do for us!

Hi,

I am thinking about using Focus and Restraint as rings, Hellfire Amulet with Guardian Path and RoRG in cube for multiplayer instead.

What do you think, it's good idea?

You should update the item list at the top since it doesnt reflect the actual item list on the bottom of the guide.

Every season i come back to I-V for guide updates since i think the layout of their guides make it easy to get the basics of any build.

Unfortunately this guide needs to be updated ASAP to remove any reference to the Inna's set. The item list at the top of the guide is very outdated. For example, the top still mentiones the Raiment Shoulders as mandatory while the list below correctly mentions Lefebvre's Soliloquy.

Why not use the Band of Rue Chambers over Convection of Elements in groups? While it doesn't add to damage on it's own, it should boost the spirit generation per second from Crippling Wave to higher than the spirit drain from Shenlong's Spirit. That would allow for longer uptime of the 150% Shenlong buff which would equate to higher damage overall. Convection doesn't seem ideal for single element Monks due to the 5 element cycle so even with the max 3x damage roll for 4 seconds, you'll only see that boost once every 20 seconds.

Excellent guide, thank you for taking the time to write it and share with us!

Question: I see that the primary generator skill is Crippling Wave. However, you mentioned using Cyclone Strike to group monsters into the area of effect of Way of the Hundred Fists as well. Under the belt and pants in the gear, you prioritized Way of the Hundred Fists as the 3rd priority.

I'm confused here. Are we using Crippling Wave or Way of the Hundred Fists?

Edit: Nevermind, I see that you suggest each generator in specific situations. Crippling Wave as default. Way of the Hundred Fists for speedruns. Gotcha.

Guest Inna's/Raiment Solo

I have an idea for a new "End Game" build., (just in case no one has found their hard to find Shenlongs)  :)

The point is, take the best of Inna's-EP/Mystic Ally  6-piece set (5-piece with an RoRG), and combine it with best of a 2-piece Raiment set-(for the "Your Spirit Generators have 25% increased attack speed and 100% increased damage").

The rest is obvious, except for the tweaking of the best legendary gems, gear, cubing, ...,

but atleast it offers a more forgiving choice of alternatives as you progress, and it could be a good new solo end-game build as well.

why not ?

Dear Sir,

i think the description of below is incorrect :O

Inside point 3

Finally, Cyclone Strike Cyclone Strike will be used at least once every 5 seconds to group the enemy into tight packs within the Way of the Hundred Fists Way of the Hundred Fists area of effect, as well as to maintain the Lefebvre's Soliloquy Lefebvre's Soliloquy damage reduction buff.

The skill, way of the hundred fists should be crippling wave?

Does anyone think that swapping out the cubed flying dragon for the cubed crystal fist would be a good idea? it would provide more survivability I think since you are constantly using dashing strike. Right?

Crystal Fist applies a 50% damage reduction for 6 seconds when using dashing strike

hey deadset - i'm currently running the r6 generator build - more or less - as per your guide

http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/flow-2331/hero/70301371

i was wondering now if dropping life on hit on the shenglongs fists for area damage will work for me. right now i can run gr70 solo with relative ease (no chance though without follower + unity). will the 4% lifeleech from simplicitys strength be enough on solo targets and in situations where area damage doesnt procc? i think I#d have to swap the emeralds for diamonds which will be a huge loss of damage im afraid

also i'm not sure if %fire damage on the necklace will give me more damage than dexterity does?

thx for your feedback :)

Hey - this will be a substantial gain in survivability, but it will also tank your DPS by quite a bit, as the consistent procs of Flying Dragon not only build up your Spirit faster (as required by the Shenlong set), but also allow you to cap on Attack Speed (and after all, the build hinges on hitting things as fast as possible).

I'd probably try easing into Area Damage by replacing LoH on one weapon, seeing how it feels, and then potentially dropping it on the other. I've personally stuck to at least one big LoH roll when playing the build, but it can differ from player to player.

Fire % will definitely give you more damage than Dex, even on an ancient amulet. Don't be put off by the (sort of deceptive) ingame calculation.

Hey Deadset!

Thank you for your great work.

I know this is kinda offtopic but i cannot find anything about it.

In the actual ladder top monks all play the eye of peshkov buils, which - for me - looks so squishy.

How could that build progress further (even in hardcore) than your build posted here?

Could you probably post a guide to the other build too?

Greets,

Blizzard have moved the launch of Season 34 back a week!
While it was supposed to start today, Blizzard cite players not wanting the new D3 and D4 season launches to overlap on the same week, and needing more time to get the season properly set up, as the previous one ended early.
      Season 34 Delay (Source)
      Hi all
We have shifted the start for the new season of Diablo III to next week. This is due to a few items:
We received a good amount of feedback that many didn’t want overlap with the first weekend of Diablo IV’s new season. We agree so we are building out that gap and will be more mindful of that going forward.
This will help us properly ensure account states migrate over as we had an issue with the prior season rolling early and us having to kick things back on.
You can find the exact times on our Season 34 blog.

The ongoing Season 33 ends on January 19. Season 34 reintroduces the Light's Calling Season theme, which means players can obtain Angelic Crucibles, consumables that may be used to Sanctify any Legendary item, infusing it randomly with one of three new class-specific powers. Cosmetic rewards for the patch are as follows:
Completing the Season 34 Guarian journey grants the Book of Cain pet and the Lost Civilization Portrait Frame.

Season 34 reintroduces Light’s Calling. Valiant Nephalem who recover Angelic Crucibles, a new consumable item, may use them to Sanctify any equippable Legendary item, infusing it with one of three new class-specific powers at random. We wanted to use Angelic Crucibles to lean into the expertise of each class, further exemplifying its respective prowess, but through a nuanced lens. It seems something went very wrong with Season 33, as it it just... ended a while ago. Players took to the forums as there was no early warning, other than a server message around an hour before it all ended. PezRadar responded clarifying that this is not intended and that Blizzard are looking into what happened.

Heard and got some pings while I’ve been out and I have production checking on this early end. This shouldn’t have ended today so something is funky. Will provide an update once I hear back.
