Cantdoit 9 Report post Posted September 18, 2015 (edited) started progressing on mythic velhari this week, which for most of the fight has 2 targets, occasionally 3 if you don't kill the add fast enough. I'm seeing several top end elementals with a dick load of CL casts with minimal EQs, I believe they're filling with CL when they can get 2 targets. https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/4XVPtA7hZQ9xymNH#fight=14&type=casts&source=10 2 Target Cleave Keep empowered (Fusion/Unleash) FS up on both, ES at high stacks (16-20) LvB on CD, CL filler instead of LB. napkin math: tooltip LB: 13,273 CL: 9,479 other than CL doing > 50% of LB damage per cast, you have a 2nd crit roll, a 2nd Multi roll, faster Fulmination stack generation, and gives mastery a 2nd chance to proc. Orthios 271 Report post Posted September 18, 2015 Looking at the top parses for progression info is a bad idea. The top parses aren't going to be the first time that person kills a boss, it's going to be on a farm kill, where they can afford to pad the meters by AoEing (or in this case, cleaving) because it is a farm bass, where in a progression setting it wouldn't be tolerated. Velhari is very much all about dpsing the right target at the right time, and cleave abilities typically do less damage to a single target than your ST abilities do (as proved above with your napkin math, CL does less to 1 target than LB does). I would wholeheartedly advise against using CL as a filler if your are progressing on Velhari, as you will only be holding your raid back by not doing as much damage to the priority target as you could be. Stormhelm 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2015 Generally the cleave is worth it mostly because it maintains your 4 set at a much higher stack and more consistently than if you just single target. The extra fulminations also usually make up for the 4k lost damage per LB you would otherwise be doing to your priority target. In the end though, you should be giving it a go yourself and keep an eye on your damage done to Valhari. If it falls, stick with LB until you're moving on to farm. As Orthios says, priority targets are the key to this one.
