SirFozzie 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2015 Hi. I'm a 709 Paladin (http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/kirin-tor/Lailana/simple). I'm pulling about 30-35K HPS in raids, which seems to be low from seeing stuff on Askmrrobot etcetera). I'm looking for tips and tricks to help me be more effective (be it glyphs, rotation, etcetera) to be a better healer. Right now, Heroic I think is a bit beyond me, and I'd like to take that next step forward. The only thing I think I'm missing from rotation is the shield, I try to save them a bit more for high damage segments or putting one on someone in danger of dying to give all the healers a chance to "catch" them. My logs are up on AMR http://www.askmrrobot.com/wow/combatlog/player/us/kirin_tor/lailana
Sagira 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2015 I only looked at one log of your normal Archie kill, which I assumed isn't exactly farm content for your guild since you do have a wipe recorded (and so you gave it your best try, correct me if I'm wrong!), but here's what I see right off the bat: First off, your activity time is lower than your other healers. This usually means you're thinking too hard about what heal to use next, and this is improved just by playing more and becoming more familiar with what each heal does. You may also consider using mouseover macros if you're not already, they can help you get a heal rolling a little quicker if you're not able to make your decisions during the global cooldown time (few people are). Second, you're using flash of light way more than you probably should, you're tanking your mana for not much benefit. Getting your holy light rolling faster (with the activity time in mind) should get you a similar amount of healing per second as you're getting now with FoL, at half the mana cost. Third, you're slow on getting holy shock back on cooldown. With the amount of haste you have, the cooldown on it is in the neighborhood of 4.75 seconds, which means in a 7 minute fight (like the one I'm looking at), you should have more like 80-85 casts of holy shock, not the 43 I see recorded. Along with this, you only used word of glory 7 times along with those 43 holy shocks, which means you wasted half of your holy power to the cap. The "ideal" setup for healing is holy shock -> holy light -> holy light -> repeat. The holy lights can be replaced with other spells; things like holy prism, flash of light (only for an emergency heal), word of glory (with 3 hopo; can save to 5 if you know a damage spike is coming), sacred shield (which should be kept up on at least the tanks at all times), etc. Don't replace the holy shock if you can avoid it, hopo generation is THAT important. SirFozzie 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2015 Ok.. I use VuhDo for my healing, I think one of the problems I have is being nervous about "standing in fire" damage.. (for example, that archie fight, when I hear the audio cue for Allure coming, I'm already moving when it's announced being cast.. so I spend too much time running and not keeping shock or shield up.) I'm going to try to get a better mouse for healing as well, currently the set up is Holy Light-LMB, Holy Shock-RMB, side button 1, Flash of Light, side Button 2 word of glory. I think I'm going to see if the fifth button can be shield.
Thankadin 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) Druids are mostly about AOE heals and HoTs. Paladins are mainly about big oomfy single target heals. You have some AOE heals but these are mostly gimiky like light wells (dont even know if they are still a thing) Another thing to remember is that druids can throw out HoTs while moving. My advice would be to look at overhealing done as well when checking your stats to see who is wasting mana in a raid. Try communicating with other healers about who is healing who as more often than enough heals are getting wasted in a raid. Pitbull Unit Frames is a very good addon but it requires a lot of time and effort to config but once its up and running it works really well. This combined with cliqe for mouseover keybinds is amazing. I personally use this set up as a paladin tank to see visually who has aggro, dispelable debuffs, if i need to bubble someone, lay on hands, hand of salvation its just one click away. Tl:dr You cant beat druid healers. Edited January 15, 2016 by Thankadin
