Invoker Thorns Crusader

Maybe I'm missing something but I followed this build to the tee and I can barley manage GR 62. My crusader is dying left and right. Shouldn't the damage reduction from Aquila Cuirass and Bombardment plus my +71 block chance be enough?   Maybe I'm just used to my tanky WD Helltooth build.

I've been following this build extensively and I noticed your changes and I like what I see, one thing I want to be sure of is consecration vs. Provoke. Your text reads provoke without consecration but when you showcase the skills and runes consecration is listed are you implying that for this build they are interchangeable, and if so is the lack of health regen from consecration worth it when your in the middle of a mob

Hello,

Im following your guide too but I have a question.

On the Vo'Toyias Spiker shield I see the secondary stat about using Provoke.

Why isnt provoke listed in the active skills?

Im still learning so I hope this isnt a dumb question smile.png

Thanks in advance for any reply.

My bnet char:

I cannot get past GR-60 with this. Guess my stat rerols are from bad choices.

Hi,

Im still learning this and hope im not asking a dumb question

The shield has a secondary stat when using provoke to double thorns damage. But why isnt provoke used in the active skills?

Maybe someone can help me with my gear/stats since im only capable of doing GR-60 with this char

No provoke in the build? Isn't that a waste of the double thorns dmg the shield provides?

Hi, I suggest you check the post on regular basis as I believe Deadset is updating it whenever possible to reflect the changes coming in the new patch. Specifically, the changes on Hack and the use of Votoya's Spiker, and removing Blood Brother from the cube.

As for Consecration, I am kind of sure that it will be replaced by Provoke in the updated build; not to mention that I made it to GR76 without using Consecration at all in the previous season (was only at 850 Paragon points, and used Bombardment instead of Consecration).

The new season is starting in 6 days, and with it all the builds will require updating, I suggest we be a little patient at the moment and follow up on the changes.

Hi Icestorm,

Your skill choice is correct as far as I am concerned: using Provoke/Hit Me instead of Consecration, but you need to replace Laws of Valor with Laws of Justice/Decaying Strength.

From a quick look at your profile my guess would be that you're both dying and not doing enough dmg, you will find the explanation of all of the following at the end of the post.

You're at 747 Paragon points, you should be able to hit the GR 70s bracket: what you're missing is Caldesann's Despair on all your gear (last page in kanai's cube) to add strength which will considerably increase your damage (you can start with level 60 gems which will add 300 strength to each piece), and will allow you (once you reach the 70s) to switch the gems on your gear from rubies to diamonds.

Here's a breakdown of your gear stats:

(Note that you should keep your items as they are and try to replace them with ones with the ultimate stats for this build: that's why I would suggest you start using Caldesann's despair on the pieces that you don't need to change first: Helm and then on all Ancient pieces as you go)

- Shoulders: you're missing vitality and all resist - you don't need +bombardment dmg

- Chest: replace armor with all resist

- Wrist: upgrade to Ancient, and have all resist in addition to all the stats you now have

- Hands: Attack Speed > all resist on gloves

- Belt: missing thorns and life% instead of armor

- Legs: upgrade to Ancient, and put all resist instead of armor

- Feet: replace armor and life per second with movement speed and all resist

- Amulet: upgrade to Ancient, and put physical % and vitality instead of life per hit and attack speed

- Rings: missing thorns, vitality, attack speed OR life per hit

- Weapon: change weapon to Hack with Strength/Cooldown Reduction/Attack Speed/Vitality/Socket/Life per hit

- Shield: upgrade to Ancient, add CDR

One last note would be to use Enchantress instead of Templar as your follower. The Enchantress should have the following spells: Forceful Push, Missile Ward, Erosion, Focused Mind.

So briefly, using Enchantress and Laws of Strength will greatly increase your Toughness, in addition to fixing your gear stats as suggested. Adding Caldesann's Despair to your gear and replacing your weapon will greatly increase your damage.

Here's my profile if you'd like to compare stats: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/inso-2827/hero/75216388

Thank you so much Inso for looking into my gear/stats. I need to replace some gear into ancients one but ive never been lucky so far to get those last pieces into ancients.

I will do Greater Rifts to upgrade legendary gems to level 50 or 60 and use them in cube. If someone wants to join to speed up things, I'll appreciate it very much.

Stat rerols will come in last place I think. I rerolled already things and cannot change another stat so I'm afraid I need to replace that specific armor piece also.

I changed a few things already and managed to do Greater Rifts lv 65 (Still dying alot but I manage to finish it in time) Will change follower to Enchantress after I have some gear for her smile.png

Hello! When it comes to Thorns builds, the Ancient vs. non-Ancient problem is much less pronounced (it doesn't come into play until you consider augmenting). The damage roll can be completely disregarded and rolled away for a better stat, making the weapon a stat stick. I'd probably run the weapon with the best synergistic stats (STR, CDR, IAS, AD...)

Umm a quick question.. which can push further in gr solo? Invoker thorns? Or LoN bombardment type? Does lon bombardment build in last season still as feasible as it was?

Provoke is mentioned several times, but is not in the skill list... so is it used or is it not?

In the overview you mention using Provoke, but it is not shown in the skills. Are you replacing one of the skills with Provoke?

Hello! First of all thanks to the community and to Deadset for the fabulous builds!

I've read around and I have a pair of (probably silly) questions:

I followed thoroughly the guide and assembled this crusader http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Mavco-2547/hero/38552936

Problem is: I'm stuck using Unity instead of CoE in Kanai and Diamonds instead of Rubies, and that's just to face GR60-62, I don't dare to go on since I got thrashed too many times.

I really, REALLY love this build since it reminds me much of Diablo & DII with all the fun hack and slash... On to the questions:

Is my equipment sub par? Or to put it better, I know it's sub par, since I have just a couple of legendaries and not-too-shiny bonuses on many pieces, but is it the bottleneck preventing me to go further on or do I just suck at it?

This is a 8-hour-a-day-worker question, do I have to endlessly hack mobs in GR, convert legendaries to Lost Souls, reroll like mad until Ancient with good bonuses (my Hack has pointless stats for example) or am I missing something?

Thank you very much!

Hello Mavco,

First of all, I'm glad you're enjoying this build.

Now to answer your questions, here are my suggestions:

1- Reforge your helm, remove the blessed hammer dmg increase

2- Reforge your shield, remove the life per second

3- Reforge your ring (Compass Rose), remove the movement speed

4- Reforge your amulet, remove the critical hit dmg

5- Change the weapon slot in your Kanai's Cube, use Akarat's Awakening instead of Blood Brother - I know it doesn't make sense much, but you need every CDR possible, the longer/more you stay in Akarat's Champion the better.

Your gear is very similar to mine, even your paragon points (http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Inso-2827/hero/77272927). Yesterday I removed CoE from my cube and used Unity in the cube and on my Enchantress to be able to finish GR71, I was dying a lot. I even removed some of my Ruby gems on the gear and replaced them with Diamonds.

To be able to push past that point, you will need to start using Caldesann's Despair on your Ancient items (once you get them) and need more Paragon points. Also you're very low on Vitality (coz of some bad stats on your gear)

You should be able to push as far as GR70 with your current gear, with a little better stats.

One thing to note, once you sub out CoE with Unity you will notice a huge difference in your damage, but at least you will survive, once the stats/gear are optimized you should go back to CoE.

Go ahead and add me to your list if you wish to discuss the play style ingame, maybe you're doing something wrong I can help you with.

Provoke/Hit Me is a must in this build due to the synergy it has with the shield, in addition to the increase in Block% which helps with your dmg reduction (synergy with Justice Lantern), and in CDR due to the Cubed shield.

Hello and thanks for the answer!

First of all I'm sorry for the "Legendaries/Ancients" and "Lost Souls/Forgotten Souls" mistakes, it was late at night and I didn't double check the post... I waited to say this not to double post.

Anyways:

1. I didn't notice it, it was sort of a late acquisition, so I didn't process it yet;

2. Yep, reforged it lately so I didn't reroll that yet;

3. On Bnet won't show, but I'm pretty sure I had to reroll for the socket... It has to be reforged entirely sooner or later, it depends on when I'll reroll a decent Ancient Vo'Toyias;

4. Same as before, I remember I had the set without any sockets for a start. I'll check asap;

5. I still hadn't dropped or upgraded anything to an Akarat's Awakening! Trying with Kadala looks like utter madness so I'm just keeping GR and reforge Crusader Shields until my brain hurts... I'm using BB just because it was the recommended one before 2.4.1.

Unity feels safer to proceed, and the slight bonus to thorns based on vit from the Heart of Iron doesn't make me regret the Diamonds too much. As I said I don't have that much time to play, thus the progress to reach gem level necessary to use Caldesann's Despair is a really long work.

A last question: The moment I get an Ancient, even if it has more than one wrong stat, is it better to keep it and reroll other things to Ancient before going back to not perfect Ancients, right?

Added you on the forum, going to add you on bnet too, thanks!

Can anyone confirm whether 2.4.1 changed the 6-piece set bonus to benefit from + physical %? If so, getting this on both ring and amulet would be huge, but if it still doesn't benefit it, might be better to roll IAS/CDR on ammy (although maybe physical % is still better but just not as good as it could be).

Blizzard have moved the launch of Season 34 back a week!
While it was supposed to start today, Blizzard cite players not wanting the new D3 and D4 season launches to overlap on the same week, and needing more time to get the season properly set up, as the previous one ended early.
      Season 34 Delay (Source)
      Hi all
We have shifted the start for the new season of Diablo III to next week. This is due to a few items:
We received a good amount of feedback that many didn’t want overlap with the first weekend of Diablo IV’s new season. We agree so we are building out that gap and will be more mindful of that going forward.
This will help us properly ensure account states migrate over as we had an issue with the prior season rolling early and us having to kick things back on.
You can find the exact times on our Season 34 blog.

      Haedrig’s Gift

Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works.
Completing Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts. These contain a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. Players can only unlock one Class Set in this manner per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so choose wisely!
The set you receive depends on the class of the character you’re playing when you open each Haedrig’s Gift. To collect a full Class Set, you’ll need to open all three on the same character. In this season, Haedrig's Gift will grant all-new class sets introduced with previous Seasons.
Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 34:
Barbarian - Horde of the Ninety Savages Crusader - Aegis of Valor Demon Hunter - Gears of Dreadlands Monk - Patterns of Justice Witch Doctor - Mundunugu’s Regalia Wizard - Typhon’s Veil Necromancer - Masquerade of the Burning Carnival Return to Top

It seems something went very wrong with Season 33, as it it just... ended a while ago. Players took to the forums as there was no early warning, other than a server message around an hour before it all ended. PezRadar responded clarifying that this is not intended and that Blizzard are looking into what happened.

Heard and got some pings while I’ve been out and I have production checking on this early end. This shouldn’t have ended today so something is funky. Will provide an update once I hear back.
