So, should I try a different Monk End Game Spec or put the Monk to sleep for a while and play one of my other toons until I get heaps more paragon points?

Heya - not the biggest fan of the Inna EP myself, for roughly the same reasons (squishyness, finicky rotation, etc.) May I suggest the simpler Inna pets playstyle (dropping EP), or the Shenlong/Raiment build? It's quite a bit more durable, and feels like a real fighter going in for the punches!

Hi guys,

I have been extensively testing this build [without EP] on HC 2.4.2 due to ripping my shenglong rainment monk. I have fairly decent equip, all gems on 66 and I am currently No#1 monk solo with Inna set (as long as I haven'd missed one). In numbers thats Rift 69 and rank 250 (subject to change of course, yesterday that was still 200). Just a comparison. Current Rank 2 is a raiment build at rift 81 and rank 1 is an LTK build at 82 (also known as t13 speed rift build).

The perfect way to play Inna's build is finding a high density area and pulling ALL (and I cannot stress this enough) mobs onto you. You will then stack Way of the Hundred FistsWay of the Hundred Fists AssimilationAssimilation to 10+ stacks (myself, I haven't gotten more than 23 if I remember correctly) and wait for the cold proc of Convention of ElementsConvention of Elements. If you get this scenario, your damage will be immense. However, most rifts will not let you do this. A single Waller will block your Mystic AllyMystic Ally Water AllyWater Ally  and drastically reduce your damage. This will also occur if the you do not get all enemies grouped around you. Your Mystic AllyMystic Ally AI will attack stragglers (which won't be hit by Cyclone StrikeCyclone Strike ImplosionImplosion to procc your Bindings of the Lesser GodsBindings of the Lesser Gods). Also your Mystic AllyMystic Ally AI will randomly get stuck, attack other enemies away from where you are fighting and start running around between targets, not attacking at all. This can happen especially when you get a Rift Boss that spawns adds. Also think about the long cooldowns that you have to wait for and prepare beforehand. How often did I get a cold procc while moving towards an Elite, then I had to wait roughly 15 seconds before I could commence my damage rotation.

So lets sum this up: Innas build is capped around 70 because Mystic AllyMystic Ally AI sucks. It has a huge damage potential on very long CD's that have to be triggered at the same time (cold procc, assimilation rune, mystic ally active), which makes it less fun to play because this is a hack and slash after all! In my opinion this build is inherently broken.

Added bonus: Boon of the HoarderBoon of the Hoarder only sometimes get procc'd from Mystic AllyMystic Ally kills.

The Inna's (7-piece set) gives you a lot of leeway, to mix n match.

For example, by incorporating just (2-pieces) of the Monks "Raiment" set, you get a nice bonus:

"Your Spirit Generators have 25% increased attack speed, and 100% increased Damage"

This build is nolonger viable as written. Not sure who decided to slap on a Season 7 sticker onto a season 6 build without double checking that all the abilities still worked the same but I wish you guys wouldnt be so lazy, I love your site but this is the type of content that made me realize sites like Noctis had no idea what they were doing.

Reason the build nolonger works this way is Inner Sanctuary/Forbidden Palace got a massive nerf and is purely a defensive ability now with no damage increase. As such this build is incapable of hitting high GR without massive luck and time, their are several much simpler and easier builds for monks that destroy the competance of this build.

Dont worry I already know this comment will never get posted, you guys seem to censor all criticism but hopefully whoever decides to reject this informs whoever takes care of this guide to make some changes or remove it completely.

Nah, I got you covered, your comment is posted. I am curious as to why the removal of a 30% additive damage source (further diminished in a category that is already saturated with similar buffs like the Assimilation rune, the Unity passive, the doubled up Mantra of Conviction and Fire Ally effects, etc.) somehow magically destroys the build beyond reason.

But even bothering to make my point was not needed, when the guide explicitly states that the Exploding Palm variation is necessary in order to compete, and that variation drops Inner Sanctuary altogether.

Is the build popular the Season? No, of course. It is a very difficult build to execute properly, and with the free set being the easier and (currently) stronger Raiment, people will naturally flock to it.

Is it unviable to the the point where it requires our removal (something I have done to a number of builds I spent good time researching and writing down)? No, not at all. The Mystic Ally build can 100% be optimized to complete the entire Season Journey for anyone wanting to try pets, and for GRs above you go EP.

That is so heartening to hear you say - thank you! I was beginning to think it was me being a bit crap haha. I'll give the Pets build a go, and then the Shenlong/Raiment build a go and archive my EP gear.

Sorry for the slow reply, I had the page bookmarked and didn't realise there was now a page 3 with your response!

Thanks again - really appreciated.

Isn't it better to use the Lefebvre's soliloquy instead of the Spirit guard as the cubed armor ? Since you're going to use cyclone strike just as often and it gives 50% damage reduction instead of 40% ?

Heya, Lefebvre is indeed great for the build - but it is already recommended as a piece to wear, not cube. And the game doesn't allow you to double up on legendary effects by wearing AND cubing them! :)

Why use Spirit GuardsSpirit Guards in cube than Aquila CuirassAquila Cuirass? Aquila CuirassAquila Cuirass gives more damage reduction thanSpirit GuardsSpirit Guards   and there is not much spirit spender in this build.

You will constantly be using Cyclone StrikeCyclone Strike to reposition mobs so that you can effectively unleash your army of allies.

You are permanently using your generator while stacking, so you need the SG reduction.

Aquila will constantly have the reduction removed due to your use of CS, unless you CS less, but then you stack less effectively.

Just popping by to note that Blainie is correct; Cyclone Strike has a significant 50 Spirit cost, and you can't afford to simply apply it every 5 seconds to keep up Bindings of the Lesser Gods and/or Lefebvre's Soliloquy - especially with 2.4.2's changes of diminished effectiveness of pulling skills. Aquila is very likely to drop at the worst possible moment, leaving you vulnerable in higher GR tiers. While weaker, Spirit Guards are more consistent.

Hey!

I am going to try this for season 8, and as far as I know there are not many changes from season 7 (nice). I do have some questions though.

If I play multiplayer, then I will not have my follower, and as people have mentioned earlier, what should I cube instead of the Unity ring? I could go with Ring of Royal Grandeur and equip Tasker and Theo instead of the set hands, but will the attack speed be applied on my allies? Are they actually considered pets? Is there anything else I should cube instead of the Unity ring? Maybe cube Ring of Royal Grandeur and replace another set item?

Thanks!

Definitely a possibility. Personally, I use an element amulet if I'm struggling to survive at higher grift levels.

Is it true if we have activate MA, it causes a downtime in the set dmg multiplier for innas? Hence some inna builds do not have MA as their active skill. Please clarify : )

What's the meaning of this quote from the guide:

Once enemies are drawn in for the kill, you will be placing an Inner Sanctuary Inner Sanctuary circle at their feet to speed up the fight.

How would it speed up the fight?

Hey! That's a remnant from the times when Inner Sanctuary had a damage buff associated with the rune Forbidden Palace. Thanks for catching it, I've removed the irrelevant section of the sentence :) The remainder of the skill and rune explanations are correct.

I have a problem with pain enhancer. its ONLY during trash fights that it is being utilized to its fullest extent.

bosses that summon trash even still, dont do it often enough to really matter.

it is my recommendation that gogok be used in place of pain enhancer as its benefits can be utilized to the fullest in any fight, increasing survival ability greatly by bringing inner sanc and epiphany back around more quickly and lets not forget our burst dmg ally button.

interested to see the authors thoughts on this.

I would imagine PE is chosen given that, in the grand time scheme, bosses really don't take up that much time. At higher GRifts, I find myself spending 3 minutes or so on the boss, but that leaves 12+ minutes of clearing big trash packs where PE is crazy useful.

I'll tag @Deadset anyway!

@Deadset

First, thanks for all of the guides.  PS4 console, and I started back a couple months ago, leveling everything up from scratch, one of each class, all following one of your guides.  5/6 and I continue to be amazed at the synergy and thought that you put into each variation.  Well done!

Now, the most important question you've encountered to-date...  which should transmog did you use to make the shoulders on this set look like they belong to Inna?!?!?!?!  I can't come up with anything, they all look like garbage.  It's possible I don't have the shoulders i need yet?

Thanks!

Glad to hear that the guide worked well for you! As for the transmog, I think it's just a set of basic shoulders with blue dye on them.

Thanks Blainie!

Ironically, I had forgotten about dye.  Needless to say I spent the better part of an hour trying to find the merchants with dye.  Act to Act, googling to see what I missed/forgot.  So yeah, I started looking shortly after 2.4.3 went live, and eventually found the right link with the update notes and I'm happily running around with matching shoulders now.  So thanks again!

Apologies if this isn't the right thread, but are there any plans to make an Inna generator build guide? I watched couple youtube videos, and it looks as if with  the changes in 2.4.3 it may be something worth considering. Thank you.

A brand new season arrives in Diablo 3 next month! Blizzard have the full preview ready so let's take a look at the cosmetic rewards, season journey, Haedrig's Gift sets, and more!
      Season 33 (Source)
Sanctuary needs you to answer its call for aid in Season 33: Shades of the Nephalem. Starting on October 25 at 5 p.m. PDT/CET/KST, Nephalem can harness the power of the Shades of the Nephalem theme, which first debuted with Season 22. For an in-depth look at what’s coming, take a gander below. Also, Season 32 will officially come to an end on October 20. Seasonal Journey
      Season Theme
      Season Cosmetic Rewards
      Season Journey Rewards
      Seasonal Conquest
      Haedrig’s Gift
      Patch 2.7.8
      Season Theme
The shadows, they are moving, and they seem… animated. Like they have a will of their own. Whatever this trickery is, perhaps you can use it to your advantage. Let’s see what the demons say when you fight side by side with your own shadow! Shadows of the Past: Activating a Shrine/Pylon will spawn in a shadow clone of your class, who will come with a randomly chosen 1 of 3 predetermined builds. This clone's power will scale with your character and will last for 1 minute (unless your character dies). See this article for the shadow clone variations that can spawn when activating. Kanai’s Cube: Kanai’s Cube will have a fourth slot this season. This fourth slot will have the choices of the first 3 slots but will not stack with any of them, providing additional flexibility to your build. Return to Top Season Cosmetic Rewards
Beginning with Season 17, we began re-introducing previous Seasonal rewards to make them available to any who may have missed them the first time around. For Season 33, this means awards originally available from Season 9 are returning to the Season Journey. However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve already participated in previous Seasons. We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic rewards for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Prove your worth in the Trial of Tempests to earn the Stupendous Contraption pet and the Industrial Portrait Frame.
In addition to the Chest and Gloves slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, you’ll be able to earn the Pandemonium portraits, and the cute and craggily Rocky pet first introduced in Season 9. Return to Top Season Journey Rewards
If you’ve been diligently slaying demons before and reached Conqueror in the Season Journey each time, you’ve surely accrued a few extra stash tabs. You’ll earn one additional tab each Season by finishing the Conqueror tier, up to a maximum of five: Guardian of Sanctuary: Finish a Level 70 Nephalem Rift on Torment XIII difficulty within five minutes. Gem of My Life: Level three Legendary Gems to level 55. All I Do is Win: Complete 2 Conquests this Season. Life Goes On: Kill Maghda at Level 70 in under fifteen seconds on Torment XIII difficulty. Money Ain’t a Thang: Slay Greed on Torment XIII difficulty. Treasure Goblins outside of Nephalem Rifts will sometimes open portals to Greed’s domain, The Vault. Take U There: Reach Greater Rift Level 60 Solo. Greater Rift keystones can be obtained from any Nephalem Rift guardian. Power Amplification: Use Kanai’s Cube to augment an Ancient Legendary item with a Level 50+ gem. Cubic Reconfiguration: Use Kanai’s Cube to reforge a Legendary item. Return to Top Seasonal Conquest
Want to prepare your Conquest plan for Season 33? Here are the challenges you’ll face: For Curses!/Stars Align, pick any Cursed Chest event that requires killing monsters and defeat over 350 or more at level 70 on Torment X or higher. Also returning for Season 33 is Sprinter/Speed Racer, where you’re challenged to complete the entire Diablo III campaign from Act I to Act V at Level 70 in under an hour! Next is Avarice/Avaritia, where all that glitters is gold—that is, if you can complete a 50 million Gold streak outside of The Vault or its Inner Sanctum. We're also bringing Thrill/Superhuman, which requires completion of a Greater Rift Level 45—solo and without any Set items equipped. And lastly we'll be bringing back Speed Demon/Need for Speed, meaning you'll need to beat a Torment X Nephalem Rift at Level 70 in 2 minutes. Best of luck! Return to Top Haedrig’s Gift
Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works: Completing Acts II, III, and IV of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts. Each Gift contains a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. Players can only unlock one Class Set in this manner per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so choose wisely! The set you receive depends on the class of the character you’re playing when you open each Haedrig’s Gift. To collect a full Class Set, you’ll need to open all three on the same character. Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 33: Barbarian - Might of the Earth Crusader - Thorns of the Invoker Demon Hunter - The Shadow's Mantle Monk - Monkey King's Garb Witch Doctor - Raiment of the Jade Harvester Wizard - Firebird's Finery Necromancer - Grace of Inarius Return to Top Patch 2.7.8
Our next patch goes live on October 22 and introduces quality-of-life updates for demon slayers on Mac. New Mac Executables/Mac Native Silicon and Intel: These updates will allow Diablo III to run on new versions of the macOS. PC Experience Stability: This PTR is open to both Mac and PC players. While the focal point of the 2.7.8 PTR is to test technical updates for Mac, we want PC users to monitor their playing experience as well. If you experience any stability issues or difficulties in connecting with Mac players, please give us that feedback. Return to Top

Season 32 of Diablo 3, Ethereal Memory, will go live later today, and we have prepared a list of various useful and updated guides to help you get started!
The Season of Ethereal Memory will start later today at 5 p.m. PDT (NA Servers), 5 p.m. CEST (EU Servers), and 5 p.m. KST (Asian Servers). The theme of Season 32 was first introduced with Season 24 and is now back for another round!
      What are Ethereal Memories?
The theme of the season reintroduces the Ethereals, which are rare and powerful items known from Diablo II and reimagined for Diablo III. You will be able to hunt for all 21 iconic weapons of Diablo 2 during the season, but this time they will be harder to find and will only drop in Ancient or Primal rarity!

To help you with the start of this new season, our team has been busy updating all of our Diablo 3 guides to reflect all the changes ahead of the season launch. You can find our Season 32 Hub, as well as guides for leveling, the season mechanic, rankings, season start guides for each class, and even conquest guides, in the list below.

Season 32 in Diablo 3 starts on July 12 and here is the official preview with more details.
      (Source)
Sanctuary needs you to answer its call for aid in Season 32: Ethereal Memory. Starting on July 12 at 5 p.m. PDT/CET/KST, Nephalem can harness the power of the Ethereal Memory theme, which first debuted with Season 24. For an in-depth look at what’s coming, take a gander below.

      Seasonal Journey
      Season Theme
      Season Cosmetic Rewards
      Season Journey Rewards
      Seasonal Conquest
      Haedrig’s Gift
      Season Theme
As the Nephalem reflect on Sanctuary's history, instruments of power from a bygone era resurface. These ethereal memories will grant those persistent enough to search for them unimaginable power. Legends of the past will manifest once more in the present, and you must decide how to best use these gifts—for ethereal power is fugacious by nature, and will soon return to being no more than a myth.
For this seasonal theme, we were inspired to reimagine how Ethereal items could manifest in Diablo III, with 21 iconic weapons making a return from Diablo II. In Season 32, Ethereals are rare, powerful, and fleeting items.
Season 32 reintroduces Ethereals, a weapon-type that players will be able to acquire and hunt for in their upcoming seasonal journey. Ethereals will roll a powerful set of affixes, a random Class Weapon Legendary Power and a random Class Passive Power. Ethereals will have unique icons, names, item types, and sounds originally found in Diablo II. For additional details on Ethereals, check out the list below:
Ethereals are account bound and can only be dropped by monsters, chests, and destructibles, but do not require your character to be Level 70 in order to drop. Ethereals cannot be acquired through Kanai's Cube or from Kadala. Ethereal rarity drop rate is set between Ancient and Primal items. There are 3 unique Ethereals per class. Each Ethereal has fixed affixes and rolls one random Legendary Weapon power and one random Class Passive Skill. Only one Ethereal can be equipped at a time. Ethereals ignore item durability loss. Legendary Powers and Class Passive Skills rolled on Ethereals do not stack with the same power equipped through Kanai's Cube, Items or Skills. Ethereals cannot be Enchanted, Transmogrified, Dyed, Reforged, or traded. Ethereals can be augmented. Collecting all 21 Ethereals during the season will reward players with the Feat of Strength, Ethereal Recollection. Players who accomplish this will have all Ethereal transmogrify options available for future seasonal and non-seasonal play. Ethereals only drop in Seasonal play and will not transfer to your non-seasonal character when the season ends. Return to Top
      Season Cosmetic Rewards
Beginning with Season 17, we began re-introducing previous Seasonal rewards to make them available to players who may have missed them the first time around. For Season 32, this means awards originally available from Season 8 are returning to the Season Journey.

However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve participated in previous Seasons. We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic rewards for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Feast your eyes upon the Teganze Warrior Portrait Frame and Bat pet!

In addition to the Boots and Pants slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, you’ll be able to earn a series of portrait frames that smolder with demonic fires of the Burning Hells. The iconic wings of Andariel will also be available once more, allowing you to truly embrace your inner Maiden of Anguish.

      Haedrig’s Gift
Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey (courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift) have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works:
Completing Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts.
Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 32:
Barbarian – Immortal King’s Call Crusader – Seeker of the Light Demon Hunter – Natalya’s Vengeance Monk – Uliana’s Stratagem Necromancer – Trag’Oul’s Avatar Witch Doctor – Spirit of Arachyr Wizard – Vyr’s Amazing Arcana
