Chacal 23 Report post Posted February 3, 2016 Is anyone else concerned about what's going to happen to inter-class balance when you take cards like Death's Bite, Tinker's Sharpsword Oil and Lightbomb away? Without a lot of care and attention to rebalancing with cards in the next expansion you might not just lose archetypes but you could very easily have classes without viable archetypes. When they released Naxx and GvG they weren't considering that these cards wouldn't be available at some point in the future. I've crafted cards to play decks that I enjoy playing and I definitely don't see myself switching between Wild and Standard because I will just get confused and lose a lot. I don't enter tournaments and never will. I can't see why I would ever want to play Standard, so I will be exclusively be playing Blizzard's non-favoured mode, which might kill the game for me medium-term. Unhappy all-in-all.
SithLordOfSnark 78 Report post Posted February 3, 2016 I'm actually very excited for the changes, to be honest. I will likely play Wild regularly, unless I enter a tournament, which I still do sometimes.
Chacal 23 Report post Posted February 3, 2016 I guess I might get persuaded that it's a good idea. At the moment it looks like scary change, much scarier than a strict expansion. I can't see me ever having enough room in my head to play both Wild and Standard proficiently; they're going to be very different games with different metagames. VaraTreledees 138 Report post Posted February 3, 2016 Uhm this isn't really a new thing in card games. Magic does a similar system. Others have banned or restricted lists. As new sets come out, combinations get abusive, and some cards turn out to be just too strong and it is a way to deal with that. I predict a lot of mid range decks are going to take a huge hit, and control decks will probably become stronger. The loss of shredder and boom will hurt almost every midrangy deck out their, and the loss of mad scientist will really hurt tempo mage and hunter decks as well. Well in traditional games there is no way to nerf existing cards since they are already "printed" hence they get banned. In HS you can nerf old cards. So why would blizzard need to follow the way of traditional trading card games? Edit: You forget, the loss of zombie chow, Sludge belcher and Healbot is going to hurt control. Boom is also used in a few control decks. Boom is much more replaceable in control decks then in mid range decks, and the loss of all the sticky minions makes the need for such powerful anti agro tools somewhat less necessary. We still have refreshment vendor, shield masta and a few other cards.
Valkyr 55 Report post Posted February 6, 2016 My face hunter doesn't use piloted shredder or haunted creeper. It does quite well. If I don't have a silence in hand Deathlord and Sludge belcher hurt it quite a bit, often forcing me to clear my own field to deal with it. I do use scientist for snake trap and the explosive trap. But Healbot can often put a spanner in my plans. Senjin shield master not so much.
