Wizard: Spectral Blade Speedfarming Build

Recommended Posts

You can try swapping out Elemental Exposure for Unstable Anomaly, as it is the lesser damage increase compared to Audacity and the two utility defensive passives (Illusionist and Galvanizing Ward) are quite good.

Outside of that, death can be tricky with this build as you rely on the uptime of several buffs that take a few seconds to build up: the cubed Orb of Infinite Depth (4 hits from Explosive Blast to build up to full Damage Reduction) and Magic Weapon Deflection (takes a couple of hits to get a good shield going).

After dying, immediately prioritize Teleport Calamity on the most threatening target (in your case, the Guardian) to get the short stun going and hopefully get the Orb and Deflection up as much as possible. Any further hits taken from the boss (that don't outright oneshot you) will likely reset your Teleport due to the Illusionist passive, so make good use of it. Calamity resets are a great "hidden" weapon of Tal Rasha builds, as the stun can be used to build up defenses, get Life on Hit going, and even interrupt some attacks.

Hi Deadset / Blaine,

It's me again.....i had been closely follow ya guide and comment as much as i could  which makes a lot of difference on ...Wizard Spectra Blade Tal Rasha set. Now i just realise when i tried on GR75, i just ran out of time and struggling doing so due to damage was not there to kill. Is it partly because due to speed also or something am missing? Please advise.

Thank you guys for the reply. This is my build (I am using the progression for Grifts and speed for farming): http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/SilviuF-2957/hero/60531290

I understand. Yes, Calamity is simply awesome (both for the stun break and for the Bane of the Trapped proc), I always use it, especially to interrupt the attacks, I never thought that I'll use teleport as a kind of weapon. I cleared a GR 70 now, but somehow I am stuck at this level: can I improve it or do I simply lack enough paragon points? Caldesann ancient augmentation doesn't seem to add that much.

It can be surprisingly effective. As for the augmentation, remember that a rank 50 gem could give +250 of your main stat. Do this on every item and it REALLY adds up. Honestly. 10 items, 2.5k of the main stat.

In the very first paragraph you say the build uses Firebird as well. It doesn't even get mentioned again until the update notes in which you claim you adjusted the build to reflect not using Firebird. Ummmm.........?

This is just an oversight during the update process. Thanks for letting us know!

So AS breakpoint is 3 items with 7%IAS and max paragon stat, correct? So one of them items could be Tals armor since its rolls with natural IAS ?

The breakpoint is 3 IAS items AND Tal's Chest, and then 10% from Paragons. Apologies for the confusion, will clear it up in the guide.

"and delivers a Star PactStar Pact every 8 seconds."

Wait, why would it deliver a Star Pact specifically rather than a generic meteor? There's no Star Pact rune anywhere in the build that I noticed. What am I missing?

It is not specifically Star Pact Meteor, it is the arcane Meteor from the Tal Rasha 2-Piece Set Bonus

Since last patch, it's possible to replace Bastion of Will with Endless Walk. Depth diggers should be cubed & replaced with Tal Rasha's Stride (as it is in farming mode). Manald Heal should be placed in free ring spot.

One passive skill should be changed to Paralysis. It can be Elemental Exposure (if Orb of Infinite Depth is cubed) or Illusionist (if Aether Walker is cubed).

With those changes (and not so good eq stats) I was able to go beyond GR75 and I made GR77. Before I was very hard to finish GR74 at time.

Cheers!

Did you notice the stealth nerf on Corruption shoulders?  Now that these are pointless, I was wondering if you had some alternatives?

I'm confused as to why you would replace it? You're sacrificing a huge amount of Toughness by removing Aquila from the build to gain either a small amount of bonus damage (assuming Paralysis continually procs) or a damage loss (if RNG sucks and you don't proc it). There is also absolutely no guarantee on what the procs actually occur. It's a 15% chance that, in reality, could never proc on an elite or boss and only hit trash mobs that you would have killed easily anyway.

Personally, I really don't think Manald + EW is worth it over BoW at all.

Will put in a note for Deadset to see if it they need changing. They still add a massive boost to globe healing and the pickup radius might still be somewhat useful.

Will find out and let you know.

Hi Deadset,

I might be a noobie and not see anything better but rather than cubing RoRG for the sake of using Depth Digger, can't you run the Tal Rasha Pants and cube à Convention of Elements in the cube?

The average damage of the blades would drop by a bit (well up to 25% if you got godly Depth Diggers with +100%) but all the other damages would be enhanced (talking mainly about meteors there) especially if you time it right. Might allow for some Hit and Run Tactics against bosses and giving a little additional humpf when bosses get tough.

Does it takes too much power away from the blades to be worth?

Those were my 2 cents and I would love to see what you see would be the up/downsides with that.

Thank you

Main damage dealer is spectral blade, meteor damage is insignificant. Depth Digger is 100% multiplicative damage up all time. COE average like 25% damage. For a generator build like this, you're doing less damage but more consistently. So it fit to use Depth Digger instead of COE.

Confirming post from above user. DDs are far too valuable to drop in a build that revolves around primary damage.

My experience is that Manald is good with some of the core of this build. I've Tal's + Aughilds for set. Having rorg, manald and convention of elements for rings. Cube however stats align.

Get some AoE from shoulders and offahand at least. Manald gives u the odds to push 30 billion crits...and gives u more incentive to push for more aps. Pure spectral without it cant reach higher damage numbers. It really is overkill vs rift guardians and elites with stricken. Modify the passives accordingly to try it out. Its fun as heck ;)

Hi folks!

Anyone have tried to change Focus and Restraint, for Convention of Elements and Halo of Arlyse (or maybe Wyrward)? These could be a better proc?

Thanks all!

Hi there,

Just tried this build and am having fun with it (even though I don't have all the items yet, not optimal rolls), and was wondering if I could incorporate this with Manald HealManald Heal + ParalysisParalysis due to the high attack speed on Spectral BladeSpectral Blade Thrown BladeThrown Blade? Looks fine to me but I'm not sure if its stronger.

Also, quick question on Spectral BladeSpectral Blade, how does its damage proc? Does it hit multiple times , or just one time ? And if so, is the damage spread, or ALL hits deal the damage listed on the skill (168% without the rune)?

Thanks all. :)

Hello,

I noted in the Text a mention of Star Pact ruin for Meteor - it was a brief mention, but it got me wondering:

Star Pact damage could be another multiplicative effect - is there a way to get Tal Rasha to benefit from the addition of Star Pact damage or is that already taking place?

Also, A good point was raised above - Manald Heal + Paralysis could be a major damage boost. Is it potentially worth working into the build?

Been working on a Spectral blade setup, but as some others above I'm looking at the manald heal ring, with Halo as a second ring. Currently working with the Delsere set, but thinking of switching to Tal Rasha. It would mean losing my orb of infinite depth, as I have Fragment of Destiny cubed (didn't find a good one).

Any advice on optimizing this? Also have Focus and Restraint and used that before, not sure what does more damage, that or Manald heal. Halo is more defense, which is also nice.

Hi,

@Falco: DMO and MH dont mix well as DMO only increases the damage of certain spells. So either go for tal rashas or drop the MH.

Question of my own: I am playing on console, which means i can cast twister while attacking with spectral blade. Would there be any reason not to use twister instead of frost nova?

F+R is just far too powerful given that you have constant access to both buffs, given that you are using a generator as your main damage dealer.

Blizzard have moved the launch of Season 34 back a week!
While it was supposed to start today, Blizzard cite players not wanting the new D3 and D4 season launches to overlap on the same week, and needing more time to get the season properly set up, as the previous one ended early.
      Season 34 Delay (Source)
      Hi all
We have shifted the start for the new season of Diablo III to next week. This is due to a few items:
We received a good amount of feedback that many didn’t want overlap with the first weekend of Diablo IV’s new season. We agree so we are building out that gap and will be more mindful of that going forward.
This will help us properly ensure account states migrate over as we had an issue with the prior season rolling early and us having to kick things back on.
You can find the exact times on our Season 34 blog.

For an in-depth look at what’s coming, take a gander below. Also, Season 33 will officially come to an end on January 19.

Cunning Nephalem seeking an advantage in combat will undergo an angelic trial, crystallizing a symbol of their morality into pure, otherworldly perfection. The specific celestial force imbued within by the divine is unknown—an answer waiting to be sought on the battlefield. Go forth, Nephalem!
Season 34 reintroduces Light’s Calling. Valiant Nephalem who recover Angelic Crucibles, a new consumable item, may use them to Sanctify any equippable Legendary item, infusing it with one of three new class-specific powers at random. We wanted to use Angelic Crucibles to lean into the expertise of each class, further exemplifying its respective prowess, but through a nuanced lens. The High Heavens are home to ethereal splendor, bursting with boundless radiance—we wanted to provide players with a taste of untainted power as doled out from Heaven itself.

      Haedrig’s Gift

Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works.
Completing Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts. These contain a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. Players can only unlock one Class Set in this manner per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so choose wisely!
The set you receive depends on the class of the character you’re playing when you open each Haedrig’s Gift. To collect a full Class Set, you’ll need to open all three on the same character. In this season, Haedrig's Gift will grant all-new class sets introduced with previous Seasons.

It seems something went very wrong with Season 33, as it it just... ended a while ago. Players took to the forums as there was no early warning, other than a server message around an hour before it all ended. PezRadar responded clarifying that this is not intended and that Blizzard are looking into what happened.

Heard and got some pings while I’ve been out and I have production checking on this early end. This shouldn’t have ended today so something is funky. Will provide an update once I hear back.
