Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

The new honor system is great for those who enjoy pvp, but kinda want a little more than honor out of it... I mean, it's cool and all, but when you've picked all the gear that look good to you, the only reward is those primordial spirits at an awful cost...

Looking forward to the pvp adjustments most of all the artifact weapons.

One of the things I enjoyed the most in the past was the vanilla leveling.

Honestly, I can't say there is any one feature that I am most excited for, because there a ton of things being added that I am ecstatic about. I do want to give a mention to what they are doing with the classes, though. I love that they are going back to the "fantasy" of each class and making each specialization feel unique.

This game has been a part of my life for what, almost 12 years, now? It's been my escape from reality through hard times, as well as a place to get together with friends to have fun. The lore is basically history to me. My new favorite thing, since I got my husband to start playing, is helping him find things and explaining why so-and-so is evil now, where the Legion came from, who created Azeroth, etc. I'm his encyclopedia and I love it.

Edit: I wanted to add that I have been a fan of IV since you guys appeared on the internet. I can't make a decision in WoW without consulting with you first! Happy Anniversary and thanks for being there for us!

Of course I am stoked for the artifact weapons, but the new wardrobe feature is my biggest draw.. to actually have bag space again to farm up more transmog and toys and what not. It is the most nifty thing that they have added since transmog was implemented.. Congrats on 5 years Icy Veins! Here's to 5 more!

Looking forward to Legion makes it difficult to stay interested in the live version of the game..or anything. I want to play and test the game particularly pvp with the new Honor system just like many others. I also would love to be able to put my 2 cents in on the alpha forums as I want a great xpac and intelligent players with the good of the game in mind help make that happen. I've been playing wow since vanilla so as always with every xpac I'm hoping for the best experience possible hopefully bringing new things into the game but also taking note of the old things that worked.

I am looking forward to the new artifact weapons, having something to gain as u play even at max level is what keeps the game interesting and alongside more customization through the honor talents it looks to bring back some of the rpg to a game that has lost too much of it. class specializations that look and feel unique is also something potentially great so I'm looking forward to seeing the end product of the goal here.

There are a lot of things that have changed over the course of World of Warcraft's lifespan some good and some bad in my opinion and I think many others opinion's.Changes like the addition of arenas in TBC and the transmogrification system in Cataclysm were great. That being said I feel that the linear dungeons and lack of a feeling of exploration within them that started with WoW's first expansion have not been so good for the game. Things like dungeon finder, Raid finder and the ability to queue up from anywhere for Battlegrounds and Arenas have also been pretty detrimental, sure those things are convenient and even I have enjoyed those conveniences from time to time but sometimes it's better for the overall experience and longevity of a game to not be so convenient. Challenges through both time consumption and competitive and skillful venues breathe life into a world built with pixels and give players something to play for and that great feeling of accomplishment in the end. In the end not having time or the skill to earn everything combined with various options to customize your character and stand out is a good thing. It means that you have something to continue to play for and the things that you have earned actually feel like achievements.

Things like Artifact Talents, Honor Talents, and legendary Items are a great step in the right direction. As a long time player of The World of Warcraft I can only hope for more of these kinds of additions to the game. Accessibility has a place in today's gaming even with MMORPG's like WoW but in a game like WoW, complexity, decision making, and minimal class homogenization win out.

I'm super excited for all of the new lore coming out! I have been a lore baby for about seven years now? if I got into the legion alpha, I'd adore exploring lore, and covering it on my YouTube channel! :)

I'm excited to play holy priest once again, as I gave up on the spec with 6.2 and the lack of attention it was being given. However, the new discipline spec looks VERY interesting for the first time in a while and I would love to try out both. The artifact system is sorta hamstringing me in that regard, in that I must choose between the two and start leveling up one of the weapons. Hopefully I can get in on the alpha/beta and figure out what I like before it hits live.

I miss the social aspect of WoW, the vibe the game had back in the day was very enjoyable, i hope legion will revive this together with all the awesome announced stuff! My favorite part is the big revamp of almost all the classes <3

I love how WoW has changed over the years to accommodate me (semi casual gamer).  I looking forward to more new content while continuing to be able to maintain a balance between real life and my love for the lore and fun of the game.

I can't wait to play my mage as fire with the changes that they have made hopeing that Fire mages will be raid Viable for the first tier rather then farming on the last tier like we have been the last few expansions

I'd have to say I'm looking forward to exploring a new continent, and raid zones, and finally getting to fight Gul'Dan.  I'm also looking forward to the removal of the two spec limit and being free to swap between all specs -- though I'm not totally sold on the cost to change spec and the gating behind artifacts.

Fondest memory?  For solo play it would be defeating Kanrethad shortly after the Black Harvest scenario became available and being one of the first Warlocks on the server with green fire.  As far as group play goes it would definitely be progression on the Lich King, and finally getting him down.  ICC provides a ton of nostalgia for me.

There are things I miss about earlier years, a lot of stuff I wish I could experience for the first time again...but the great thing about a new expac is getting that feeling once again.

I'm super keen for there to actually be a decent community in the game again, I feel class order halls and a neutral major city will help the game so much! Not to mention Demon Hunter's, it feels like forever that I have been waiting for this class!
I believe Legion may bring back the game I know and love.

Some background, played through Vanilla, quit before TBC. Tried the game at the beginning of Wotlk but quit relatively fast. Skipped Cataclysm and Pandaria and have lately been playing WoD reluctantly.

Do you guys think that there is any chance Blizzard would attempt to bring back some of the immersion that was in Vanilla? The game feels so hollow at the moment, far too laid back - it requires for the most part no focus or trying. I find it very hard to feel immersed in the game at its current state.

It would be fun if the normal game would offer a general level of difficulty as in Vanilla, and I'm not talking about Mythic raiding. I'm talking about normal mobs, leveling. Aggro, dying to mobs that were higher lvl. Being able to kill everything without ever having to worry about dying just makes it dull, dull and dull.
Why won't Blizz just look at what made the game so popular and go back to roots?

Most fun I ever had in this game back in the day was the feeling of exploration, achievement by getting better gear. Genuine world pvp, oh yes. Ganking was fun too, because it added a level of challenge. Don't want to get killed? You had better gear up and get some skill. Crossroads, Duskwood, STV, Tarren Mill, Tyr's hand. Give me back some of that! Organizing attacks against enemy cities? Simply great.

There's also no longer any chatting going on, it's like playing a single-player game. it's really a shame. In short, back to roots please. What you had it was golden, and it would be so great to have some of that again in Legion.

Also, congratz to icy-veins and cheers to all the mages out there.

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
