Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

I really want to experience the Legion Beta so I can see first hand what blizzard is planning. I look forward to playing every class, collecting all artifacts on all of my characters. I'm excited to see how the class halls work, pvp talents-making specs like elemental viable will be really nice to see. As well as the new story of the expansion. And to also do this responsible thing and give feedback to blizzard. Although i'm looking forwarded to everything in legion, the thing i'm most excited for is the artifacts and the new transmog system. I love making my character look unique and cool

I have been playing WoW for 10 years, now. and I have seen a lot of changes. some I liked, some I have not been so happy about. but I am glad that I have played because it has given me the chance to connect with some very good people. one of my fondest memories of wow came in BC, when 10 people from my guild all hit 70 within a few days of each other, and we all bought the same gryphon from honor hold. one of the guild members had his computer set up to record video, and we all flew in a "V" formation over Thralmar, and on the video he put flight of the Valkyries as a sound track, and posted it to one of the forums. it was epic. I have made very real friends, many of whom I have met IRL because of wow, and I really look forward to the ability to build my artifact weapon, and customize it.  and having a whole host of new dungeons to experience with my friends. in the last few years, all 3 of my sons have started playing, 2 of which plan to be in legion. so spending time adventuring with them will be high on my list as well. as a wheelchair bound disabled vet, I do not get the chance to adventure as much as I used to so this is a great way to stay in touch with my wild side with my kids.

Well... im really excited for the new lore and the Artifact ofc. But if i had to choose the best part for me, It is for sure the theme of the expansion with the mix of night elven/legion. Its for sure a fine break from the orcish stuff we had for some time now. As a nelf fan, one of my best memories were in tbc when I started wow for the first time and entered Ashenvale for the first time and heard the music. And I can not forget aswell when i entered the dark portal for the first time ... the memories ... So honestly have to say that this is the best thing that could happen to me.(dalaran hype)!

I'm pretty excited so far! I want to be able to fly from Northrend to the Broken Isle. :)))

Also pretty stoked about the Raid/Dungeon content with the artifact weapons.

Looking forward to seeing you all in game. :)

What are you most looking forward to in Legion?

I'm definitely looking forward to the new Challenge modes for dungeons more than any other part of the expansion. I feel that dungeons have lost their appeal over the last few expansions, and the feature including affixes along with timing have the potential to bring a level of prestige, repeatability and fun back to running 5 mans that I haven't felt since Heroics were first introduced in BC.

What are your fondest memories in Warcraft history?

In vanilla, my guild got a server-3rd kill of Nefarian, and I remember screaming into the mic at 1 AM on a school night, feeling a rush like nothing I'd experienced at that point in my life. We paraded around Stormwind with our guildies and their completed 8-pieces (as some of them were the only people on the server to have them). The biggest thing I remember about it is the camaraderie and the sense that we had truly achieved something unique - group finder and accessibility to raids have in my opinion done a lot of damage to the feeling of community the game once had, and the ease with which groups can complete the last boss of a tier make killing it feel like it has little to no meaning when you kill it on the harder difficulties. Killing a boss for the first time was always the best part, and when I kill a boss on Mythic (the fourth difficulty of doing it) it no longer feels fresh.

The second memory I have is the night my server opened the gates of Ahn'Qiraj. Months of farming, preparation and coordination had led to the moment it happened, and the whole server was practically standing outside the gates. The server kept crashing, but so many people were excited that everyone immediately logged back in. I don't think the community of Warcraft has been as excited for a singular event since then.

I can not wait to get my hands on the Shaman Artifact and then level a Demon Hunter before the first raid tier opens.

As a hunter, i can't wait to try out the new Survival spec, and be a glorious melee hunter.

Ever since the transmog system in D3 was implemented, I've been hoping so much that they'd implement the same in WoW, and I love that they finally did.

Above all,  I can't wait for demon hunters.  I've wanted to play as a demon hunter ever since I first started a blizzard game in WC3. Now I can finally play the class I joined WoW to play and see the lore that surrounds them and the legion get some more content.

As for fondest moment?

1. The first time I saw the opening trailer when starting up Wrath of the Lich King.  The narration,  the animation,  and the atmosphere of it. Sent chills through me when his eyes flared up.

or

2.  When I was one of the winners in the Lich King screenshot contest. Out of idk how  many people Blizz decided my screenshot was one of the best.  Still have that stein somewhere.

I'm definitely most excited for Demon Hunter tanking. Jumping around, sigils, lighting myself on fire. It looks too cool to handle! And gliding to get to the class hall portal now is beyond awesome.

My favorite WoW moment was back in BC. It was a little after I dinged 70, and my friends were running Kara. They had it well on farm, so they told me to come along for the ride. I'm tagging along, absolutely awe struck by how cool this instance is. We get to Attumen, and of course having no idea what I'm doing I die pretty quickly. They down him with no problem, and the Fiery Warhorse's Reins drop. Everyone is super excited, because they haven't seen it yet. They tell me to roll, but I say I shouldn't since I'm just being carried anyway. They insist, and I roll. 97! My very first epic item win was the Fiery Warhorse. Awesome times!

I'm looking forward to respecing my hunter to Survival and play the way I've always wanted to since I first started playing back in 2005: as a melee hunter. I used to spec into all the melee talents (back when we had talent trees) and play as closely to the melee style of Rexxar. Used to use two 1 handed axes, throw up Aspect of the Beast, and prowl the jungles of Stranglethorn hunting trolls and raptors!

I'm also excited to finally have a real career and a set schedule, so maybe I can start raiding a bit more seriously. I've always felt like I couldn't be relied on when working retail, and never joined raids to progress except for Dragon Soul, when my guild cleared the whole thing. It was only on normal, but it was great for us as we weren't hardcore raiders or anything, mostly RPers and PvPers to be honest. Great times!

My favourite time in wow was when I started raiding for the first time in ICC in Wotlk. Back then I found my guild that I stayed with till end of MOP and loved playing with them. I have so much fond memories of that expansion because there were so many ppl playing and the community was bigger and better. I hope with Legion we can get back to the glory days of Wrath and enjoy a lively game.

I am really excited about playing new Demon Hunter class and would live to play it on beta to see if I want to main it. Also, being a hardcore RBGer, I would like to see how the new PVP system works in the legion and experience it first hand before it goes live. In the end, I am really excited to do all the above mentioned things as well as experience the rest of the features that will be coming in legion. Cant wait!

I'm looking forward to see how professions and dungeons integrate into the end-game, really tight integration between all the different systems is what has been missing for a long time now and I'm hoping they're making a few more steps in that direction this time just to push a bit more variety.

As for my favourite wow moments: Farming Noxxion in Maraudon to get Nature Resist trinkets for AQ40 and defeating Princess Huhuran because all the melee were properly prepared for the fight.

The thing I'm looking forward to the most is the new PvP system (finally PvP specific talents!). Also really excited to see what they can do to make dungeons more relevant, because I personally feel WoW needs a real alternative to raids. But don't forget about the profession changes! this has been looong overdue IMO.
There isn't really one specific favourite memory I had while playing WoW. If I had to name one, It's the many great people that I got to know through WoW. A lot of them I can sincerely call my friends after having fun, sharing personal stories, playing games and getting drunk together in Skype calls or Teamspeak. Anyways, looking forward to Legion, hoping me and my friends can create even more great memories together.

Hello smile.png

I've been playing for about 8 years now, and I have to say what I've loved the most about WoW is the community. Blizzard has created some astounding content for sure, but no matter what aspect of the World of Warcraft you are participating in, whether you are laying siege to the Frozen Throne or locked in conflict in Warsong Gulch, you can always find a remarkable group of people to experience it with you.

It's very difficult, but if I had to choose one aspect of Legion I'm looking forward to, it would be the class changes and the dynamic interaction of Abilities, Talents, and Artifact Weapons (as well as the new PvP talents) and the effects they have in regards to spec rotations and personal playstyles.

Things I like in WoW:

- A sense of community

- The friends I've made

- The accomplishment of defeating a difficult encounter in progression

- Rocking a super rare title that makes people say "oooooo" (Right now, I use Grimrail Suplexer)

- Warlock Lore & Warlock Playstyle (For the most part)

- Twink Communities

- Changing Mounts from lvl 40 to lvl 20. That was a good change. I did the vanilla grind and raided pre-tbc and yeah... it was a pain.

Things I don't like in WoW:

- Blizzard's constant urge to fix things that aren't broken

- Constantly reusing mechanics (although, I can see how difficult it can be to think up new stuff with 10 years of history)

- Garrison-Ville

- Blizzard's lack of originality - They use soooo many references.. it's like they can't think of stuff on their own, so why not steal from every pop culture icon ever?

- Draenor Pathfinder - Would rather pay 10-15k gold, imho

Things I'm excited for in Legion:

- Demo Warlock

- Artifact Weapons

- Dalaran Portals

Things I'm not excited for in Legion:

- Class Halls

- The way they are trapping you into a specific spec - As a hc raider, this is frustrating cuz I'd like to be able to swap between all three lock specs easily.

- The removal of the current model of Challenge Modes

I'm really looking forward to the new feral druid playstyle. It's gonna remind me of Wrath of the Lich King, with the bleed up your target and kite them playstyle which is my favourite way to play Feral and the new customizable talents is gonna add more to that playstyle.

I am sincerely hoping that raiding in Legion is fun and can keep enough people engaged that we can do Mythic. It saddens me every day that my team got completely destroyed by not being a 25-man guild to begin with.

My fondest memories are those of raiding with my team of friends as we tackled the hardest content available. When we finally downed Heroic Deathwing I couldn't have been happier. I hope I can find that happiness again with Legion.

There is so much coming in Legion that I'm excited about. There are a couple of mounts I'm anxious to add to my collection, and I can't wait to explore the cracks and crevices of the Broken Isles. I'm looking forward to the Demon Hunter class as well, and have even "reserved" my name for her.. I can't wait to see the changes that will be coming to Shaman, and have done my best to avoid finding out ahead of time because I enjoy being surprised on release day when it comes to my main.

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
