Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

Out of everything coming in Legion, I am most excited about the new Challenge mode dungeons. I have been playing with my same core group of friends since BC and we have always struggled to make a proper raid group. But there are enough of us to happily make a great small team and do great in the 5 man content. Class changes, Pvp system, and zone scaling tie for second place. Can't wait for atonement Disc.

Favorite moment... the Gate of Ahn'Qiraj opening. I was on my pally and he was only level 40 something. The whole thing was such a cluster but it was awesome.

*Removes rose goggles*

Kara was my favorite raiding experience, great group of friends with my mad mage deeps!

Of all the things I love about WoW, it's the story I love the most - I love having the opportunity to take my character through the history of Azeroth, adventuring through the new worlds as they come with each expansion. With Legion, I'm very exited to see where the story will go in regards to Thrall (a bit nervous too, as I've heard rumors floating about), as well as I'm excited to see what the future holds for Silvanas Windrunner (also heard rumors).

Longtime WoW player here who tested both MoP and WoD beta's, but have so far missed out on Legion invites!  Even though I play every day (granted, primarily just doing Garrison stuff and logging off, but that's more a symptom my desire to play WoD, as opposed to my interest of WoW in general), I've seen a few of my mates who haven't played much at all recently get invites before me.  So I figured I'd try my luck here! :)

I've been tossing up whether to get back into the organised raiding scene in Legion.  Since there's been quite a lot of drastic changes to classes, I would love to be able to play a few of my favorites in advance of general release so I can decide what I want to play as my main.

I've super excited about all the class changes as well as the new artifact weapon system. We run a guild so this lapse in real content is causing some people to feel really down and kinda out of it with WoW so with Legion I'm hoping to inject some life back into the game.

Hey happy anniversary to you guys here at icy-veins. If a site like this wasn't around i definitly wouldn't be a progression mythic raider. So big thanks to all the work and dedication you guys put to the site.

As for the upcoming expansion i gotta admit to looking forward to a lot of things. Having all the classes and animations being overhauled makea it look like a totally different game with a lot of new playstyles to experiment with and try out. It will be a refreshing expansion with all the new fleshed out zones and its great to be back on azeroth exploring more of the lore we all love. Can't get enough of that lore and those artifact quests. Also the addition of demon hunters has me pretty hyped.

Playing since vanilla, got a lot of fond memories of the game but nothing for me lore wise and gameplay wise can top the battle at the wrathgate. It was such an epic moment to experience and be a part of that really drove a lot of the story for ICC.

All in all its been a great decade of wow and cant wait for the latest chapter in warcraft.

What I'm looking forward to most in Legion is playing with the new Demon Hunter class. Although I'm excited about what might be coming for many other things, including the artifact weapons, the wardrobe, what kinds of new pets and changes may come for the (still unknown to me) pet battles and the awesome new looks for Druid forms, I'm mostly looking forward to playing a new class.

I think the double jump they have will be incredibly fun and useful and it will almost feel like playing a new game like it has for me each time a new race has been introduced. For me it's been fun leveling alts and experiencing the lore of all of the classes and races in the game.

My most enjoyable moment from WoW  is difficult to pinpoint since I've been playing since the first day of launch and there are so many great memories. I'll try to pick just one thing but the entire world being overrun and everyone killed by demons on the last day of Vanilla WoW's Beta in 2004 was the most memorable. I still have screenshots of that.

One of my most favorite moments in WoW was when I finally hit level 60 (back in Vanilla. It took me months to level!) it felt like a huge achievement and my entire guild celebrated. That night I went on my first guild raid to Molten Core and did much better than I thought I would. I became one of the main healers after that.

My fondest memory is on the server Malygos, around 2008 or so.  Someone in our guild, Hell, had spotted the world boss Azuregos.  We didn't have enough people to kill Azuregos ourselves, so we asked a fellow progression guild, Sadface, if they wanted to team up.  Sadface decided to attempt to kill Azuregos themselves, without us.  That was unacceptable for one of our guildies named Hiricine, a hunter.  He used Distracting Shot to lure Azuregos to the edge of a cliff.  And, in one fell swoop of Azuregos's teleport ability, the entire guild of Sadface was teleported off the cliff to their deaths.  This was the most hilarious act of karma I have ever seen.

I have a max level character of every class, so I am looking forward to examining the overhauls done to each spec.  I am already a rogue fan, so I am particularly intrigued by the new survival hunter!

I can't wait for Legion! I'm so excited to try the demon hunter. I only started playing a little over a year ago but I absolutely loved the addition of the cinematics through the WoD quest line. When Thrall battled with Hellscream on top of the mountain I was transfixed. I wanted to know more of the lore after that.

I'm most looking forward to the Discipline Priest changes. I absolutely love the DPS-to-Heal style and I've always loved Discipline spec, even when it wasn't really a good healer back in Vanilla WoW. Also love the Survival Hunter and Outlaw (Combat) Rogue changes. Really want to dig into these specs and provide feedback for them.

I'm most looking forward to changes to survival. While I never tried to be a melee hunter in BC it was my favorite spec because of the melee utility.

I think that World of Warcraft has been struggling with an identity crisis since Wrath of the Lich King. That's what happens when your game is a pop culture cornerstone that encompasses two very different generations of gamers. I've played through it all, and I have to say that Legion looks like it may be a return to form. The laser-focus on class fantasy is my favourite thing from the preview so far. I also like that the dev team is taking what makes Diablo 3 so replayable, and bringing that into this game.

My fondest World of Warcraft memory? It was a noob moment from way back in the first year of Classic. My buddy and I picked up the game together. I started as a Human Warrior, and he started as a Night Elf Hunter (yes, he was a true Huntard). We imagined me travelling across the world of Azeroth to quest with him in the Night Elf homeland, and it being this big epic thing. I was going to be the lone Human in the Night Elf lands, a nomad warrior taking up the elven ways. We made a guild called Brotherhood of the Night and it was all Elves except my character. In retrospect that was all ridiculous, but awesomely imaginative none-the-less.

Honestly it's difficult to share an opinion on Legion considering there's still so much yet to see, but colour me cautiously optimistic. I always get way too excited when Blizzard launch a new expansion. :p Anyway, the dungeons in Legion look stunning, and Challenge Modes look like something my friends and I may be able to tackle (we're nooooobs), so I'm excited.

I'm most looking forward to the Demon Hunter though, by a stark mile. That class has been my white whale for as long as I can remember. You know that one guy who stands around in your capital city all day with Warglaives of Azzinoth and Cursed Vision equipped? Yup, that's me. That one guy running damage control for Demon Hunters on the WoW forums? Also me.

Every time a new expansion was announced, I'd hype up the idea that DHs would be added to the game (and every time I'd be disappointed when they weren't, haha). I was convinced it would happen eventually, and I went through the same process with Legion, so you can imagine how stoked I was when Khadgar dropped the DH bomb at Gamescom; it was a brief shunt of kid-like energy on the dismally slow conveyor belt that is my life. Seriously, it blew me outta my chair.

My fondest memory of WoW is probably a few weeks after the launch of WoD. Poundfist had started to spawn across the EU servers, and I sat up 8 hours waiting for it to spawn on my server with 40+ players. It was a great laugh and the most fun I'd had on WoW in years. (I'm not part of a guild, so I don't often interact with that many players at once.)

Anyway, in the end I let it go. People started to argue and the quest to obtain this rare mount became a bit too cutthroat for my tastes, so I logged empty handed. For me it was never about the mount. And hey-ho, I don't regret it. I had fun, and that memory is up there with some of the best.

My personal favorite thing about Legion is how (at least so far) we are getting answers to age old questions such as 'What is under Tirisfal Glades?' The advancement of storylines and characters many of us thought were 'forgotten and left behind'. These shifts forward in the storyline alone are whats getting me excited for Legion, especially when linked with the Chronicle!

Of course I am looking forward to so much more, Artifact Weapons/New Challenge Modes/Class Order Halls/Return of the Legion to Azeroth/and so much more!!!!

More time walking!

There was a mention of the possibility of time walking raids. This, to me, would give people the chance to prove they have top level skills.

Instead of just getting max DPS, Healing, and HP on tanks, there were many mechanics that required players to actually DO things in the raid or die, regardless of how maxed out their stats or gear were.

Granted, there are lots of instances that require skills in the current expansion, but not nearly to the same extent.

I am interested in seeing the new content. I have played WoW since classic and I have not been this excited about an expansion in a long time. I remember running karazhan numerous times during B.C. and I am very interested to see the new raids that legion has to offer.

The lore that the Class Halls and Artifact questlines are going to provide are what I'm really looking forward to.  I'm always excited when the story plays out.  Not to say the raids aren't fun too, some of my best memories are back in Lich King figuring out how to raid with my little guild.

I cannot wait to do artifact quests on all my characters. From what I have seen, I am most excited about the monk artifact. The new lore is really exciting too, old faces I never thought I'd see are showing up (meryl felstorm, alodi). STOKED. I am also a transmog addict with zero bag space left so it will be nice to free up everything.

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
