Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

My relation with World of Warcraft is a bit strange sometimes...I've had periods of intense love with the game, like the one you get with the perfect soulmate, where I could not stop plying and even if I decided to take a break to read a book or go outside, I would keep thinking about the game and eventually log back in...

And then there were those periods where I would be bored to log in to smash the same buttons again and again and I would eventually stop playing.

I have long wondered what made my hear beat for Azeroth and I think it is the epicness (is that a word?) of the adventure that drives me...this feeling of being involved in my character role in the world and to take part in huge epic battles.

I was afraid that legion would be just another wow expansion that I would buy, play and then drift away from the game..but then I began to look at what was happening on the Alpha and my thirst for epic adventure was grabbing me again. I don't know how the raids and the dungeons are, as I don't wand to be spoiled by a simple video but there are a lot of details that make me think that Legion will be a great expansion.

Let's start with the obvious: Demon hunters! I don't know about you but I always had some kind of crush on Illidan (all platonic you perverts, I'm a straight guy). I remember W3 where I would play NE only to be able to pick him as a hero. And then came BC and the black temple. I went nuts when I looted my first Glaive back in the day. So if blizzard gives me the opportunity to swing war glaives and be a mini Illidan I might bake a cake for them (it might be ugly but it's the intention that matters, right?).

Which leads me to the second thing I'm excited for: immersion in the game. This comes from those small details, like the new spell animations for example. Hey my warrior will actually charge and put his shoulder in the nose of the enemy instead of running and stopping 1m in front of him! I might be stupid but the attacks of melee classes actually hitting the target dummy with a neat spell effect is something great...Oh and don't get me started on class halls and artifacts!

I will stop there because I already wrote too much and I'm sure you guys have better to do than to read the post of a vanilia veteran that is in the game just because he likes to look at his avatar but I just wanted to share my joy that blizzard are working subtle details that make a huge part of the game for me! My only fear for the expansion is that ability pruning might go too far...I think complexity is important to make a game feel full and immersive. You cannot be a hero if you only know two ways of swinging your axe...but hey, even then I would just keep sitting there looking at my character happily (and immersively) bashing the face of demons :D

First of all I'd like to thank the WoW gods for planting the seed for the WoW discussion that has lead to such an amazing website that on many occasions has saved my bacon (We all know how important bacon is).

With legion I'm looking forward to experiencing some of the BC style Lore, as a WoTLK baby, I never saw any BC relevant content, so finally getting to join a crusade of champions to take on the burning legion will be awesome.

Especially with the cool new weapons that give us our own personal journey that we develop through mounds of content both as a party or raid but also solo as well.

I'll be plunging into all aspects of the game, including PvP, which isn't something that I've really taken to serious in the past, but the new prestige style system is something I think I will enjoy.

With all the new content coming with the expansion (Class, PvP System, Proffessions, Farming Legendary's and obviously much MUCH more) I don't think there will ever be a dull moment.

I'm even looking forward to the updated version of Violet Hold, all in all I'm looking forward to this expansion the same as I do every expansion, I'll personally be playing a ShadowPriest/MM-Hunter and can't wait to follow their personal journeys through Legion to see how we progress and defeat the ever looming shadow that is the Burning Legion.

I really like the new PVP talent system. It has been hard on blizzard on the past expansions trying to create talents usefull/good for dungeons/raids while still trying not to make them so powerful that it would give the character an unfair advantage in battlegrounds and arenas. they finally came up with something good. Also im really looking forward to see how they made the emerald dream after teasing the players for so many years . Overall expansion is looking good, hopefuly all the time they took on developing the expansion while we were patiently waiting for months playing over and over the same content will make it one of the best if not the best expansion ever to release. finger crossed

There are so many things I'm looking forward to, but nothing else as much as the updates being made to Brewmaster monks. When MoP hit I immediately rolled a BM Monk and I knew I found my new, favorite class/spec. They will hopefully be available for testing on the alpha soon. There is something about a drunken pandaren weilding a staff and a keg of booze which I find enticing...

I'm also looking forward to pet leveling and mount gathering. I'm so close to the 300 mount mark and there will likely be a 350 mount achievement soon.

Legion. The lore neird in me couldn't contain mt feeling when I heard the name of the next expantion. I started playing WoW in Wrath but really spent all of it leveling, it wasn't until Cata that I actually got into the game's raiding end game. And still to this day raiding with friends is the game for me. But PvP rank system and separat talents will get me PvPing in this expation aswell.  Very exitet for that.

What else will i be doing in Legion? Here is my check list:

  • Raiding, for sure. Love it. and I have an unfinished bussiness with Gul'dan cool.png
  • PvPing, its the perfect time to start.
  • Collectiong all of the artifact weapons and their different looks on all of my alts. AND
  • Playing as Demon Hunter. YES PLS biggrin.png

Release of Legion can't get here fast enough !

I'm really hyped for demon hunter, artifacts weapon and legendary items. i wish that they can change a bit classes's itemization. New warrior look like fantastic, as well as the new raid.

I started playing wow in tbc, in 2.4.3 patch, discovering Black Temple raid, Illidan's lore, and the magnificent world of wow. I really liked many of the changes have had so far, and i hope that this expansion is fantastic as the others.

I am looking forward to the revival of the class fantasies (hopefully). For a long time the classes haven't felt very unique, only devided into dps, tank or healer. Hopefully some of the changes made, and the introduction of the artifact weapons, will rekindle a lot of players love for their classes again. Odd as it may sound, I really hope that it' possible to grind out artifact power, I've missed a good ol' grind for a while now.

I'm also looking forward to professions hopefully becoming more relevant again, and perhaps a bit more unique feeling that what they were in WoD.

Also, no more garrisons.

I love a lot of the feature they are going to introduce in Legion, first of all I'm looking forward to play my paladin and I'm particulary interested in the new utility he can bring with blessings and so on. I also like the wardrobe feature so I can finally clean my bank and my void storage. I'm also interested on the new pvp honor system and talent and I hope that can lead to a more balanced gameplay in both PvE and PvP. I think that WoW can continue to be a top level game for years by introducing a more action gameplay and revamp old content like they already doing. I'd love to see 10 man raid again as well as a new timed PvP zone like Wintergrasp or Tol Barad instead of the annoying Ashran,

Normally i would say i'm looking forward to the new content overall, but in the last 2 weeks i've been checking out the new spell effects and i really like that they're making the characters more flashy, as that gives you this sense of power smile.png One thing that i miss from the past is getting back with the old guild and slaughtering horde ^_^

I'm really looking forward the new warrior class hall (Halls of Valor). It really looks like walhalla and Oden is totally badass with that lava beard. And also the Death Knight starter quests because who doesn't want to wield a weapon made of the fragments of Frostmourne! :)

Really hyped for this expansion.

I've always been a fan of lore especially DK lore. Recently, I thought our story as Dks became irrelevant so I was more than overjoyed to hear about the upcoming DK lore in Legion, and I wont give away any spoilers in case you want to play through it :D But I'm more than happy with what Blizzard decided to do with the Lich king and Dks! Pretty much why I want to play Legion so bad :D

Also, one of my best memories was when I first started playing WoW I was a nelf hunter (duh XD ) and I became part of a roleplaying guild and we would just perform in SW and it was the greatest thing ever because I had no idea what I was doing because I was also rolling with fire enchants . Fire +Arrows = Flaming Arrows :D <3

There's a lot to look forward to in Legion, if Blizzard can deliver on what they've outlined so far. I think the artifact system is a really cool idea, to start with. Relying on RNG or PVP (which I usually don't enjoy) to get weapon upgrades has historically been my least favorite - and unluckiest - part of gearing up each expansion. Having your weapon be your weapon, growing in power reliably(!!) alongside your character, is going to be awesome.

The new challenge mode system is probably my most-anticipated feature. Five-man dungeons have always been my favorite content in WoW, and seeing them become almost entirely irrelevant to character progression in Mists and Warlords has really bummed me out. Being able to gear up in consistently challenging dungeons with a small group sounds extremely exciting to me. Diablo 3's greater rifts are a really fun system, and I'm hopeful that the new CMs can capture some of that magic.

Demon Hunters, obviously, are another high point. Who doesn't want to try out a new class? I have no idea if I'll actually enjoy playing a DH, but I really look forward to finding out!

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
