Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

Ever since the Burning Crusade, i have been hooked, as i started my wow journey there(although i have been following since Warcraft III : Reign of Chaos) and it really left me hooked, The thing i'm looking forward to in Legion is how are they going, lore wise, to bring Illidan back, redemption story etc. as i feel in BC he wasn't done Justice. I hope also to get another glimpse of Sargeras, and how they incorporate back with Kil'Jaeden. Also whether King Varian Wrynn is really dead. :(

And the revised PVP system too. favorite moment last time was actually PVP'ing with a bunch of my friends against a Alliance dominated server. :D (as i wasn't really an active raider,  i didn't manage to reach Illidan or Arthas in the coming expansions until WOD)

FOR THE HORDE!

Because i am a huge Blizzard Lore Fan i am mostly looking forward to and am excited about the artifact weapon storylines.

my fondest memories are the ones building a raid group with people i met in WoW who became one of my best friends and doing the raids with them in classic WoW. And of course my 20th Birthday on which WoW released in Europe :)

I'm really excited to see the return of Illidan, and all the storyline about Sargeras.

Want to try those Artefact weapons, see what impact they will have on the game.

Past/Current:

Ive always been playing WoW with casual approach and only in late MoP i started to get more involved in raiding world and during the time of WoD ive grown from being casual LFR/Dungeon player into 13/13mythic in HFC. Im extremely happy with my progress to become hopefully one day the top raider for my role, with alot effort i feel like i can achieve this.

Future:

I hope that in Legion ill grow to new heights as raider and player. Recent work on raids from Blizzard has been insanely good and i consider HFC to be in my top3 best raids ever done with BRF not far behind and i can only expect them to improve from those in Legion, with new addition of Demonhunter i hope to learn new indepth stuff when it comes to raiding and lacking Legion alpha access ive only been able to watch and wait anxiously to get my hands on the action.

ps: new transmog system is insane and big point for me :D

I'm very excited about the story so far! I can't wait to see how the advent of the legion will dramatically changes life on Azeroth. Of course I'm looking forward to the new changes in game, but I'm big fan of the lore :P

I´m excited for Legion because of the new honor System that Comes with it and also the artifact weapons look pretty cool in my opinion. Also the new dungeons look pretty cool aswell and I can´t wait to see them.

My favorite Moment in wow was when the first lfr (dragonsoul) came out. Me and my friend were/are pvpers for the most time and we were just looking whats it all about this new Feature. After seeing it was kinda simple we were kinda bored and so we trolled the whole raid by killing all the tentacels in the spine Encounter and  the raid died because of that and we repeated that all the time i´ve never loughed so hard in my wow time.

The thing I'm most looking forward to in Legion is Genn Greymane and the Gilneans getting more of a role than they have ever had since the Worgen starting zone.

My fondest memories in World of Warcraft would have to be listening to Lorewalker Cho talk about the Pandaren proverbs, because it's just wanderlust inducing.

Thanks for doing this guys. And happy anniversary biggrin.png

I used to be a raid leader back in Burning Crusade, fondest moment back then was to sort out the groups, I mean building a raid was actually very hard for a raid leader, put melee classes in 1 group with a warrior for attack power buff, put "attack speed hungry" classes with shaman in a group for bloodlust and so on. Not only raid leaders' job was hard but diversity of classes in raids was higher back then. Specific boss encounters required specific strategies with specific roles, like in battle for mount hyjal a paladin tank could work wonders, well nowadays every tank has all the abilities, single damage, multi target and a lot of threat after cata buffs to tanks. But back then you had to bust your back to keep aggro on mobs, I mean tanking was hard, now you might fall sleep in boss fights as a tank, it's so boring because no one can overaggro, remember Omen Threat Meter addon? used to be a must have, now it's RIP.

So what I'm looking forward to in Legion is the diversity of classes in raids. Not like raids after cata which forced guilds to bring only OP classes like Mages as dps or OP healers like Disc Priests. I want to see a monk healer in a raid because the class has some unique abilities that is essential to the raid. But these days you can't join a raid because you're playing a class that is not op in raid this patch, next patch your class gets a buff and you can start raid as a op class but guess what, you don't have enough items to start doing bosses cause no one invited you for raids last patch and you were benched the whole time.

Paladins used to have Blessing of Kings which was unique to the class, so guilds had to bring a paladin for the unique spells, but nowadays why play retri pala? just go as the fotm class and do unreal damage.

I wanna see those unique spells again, I wanna see unique strategies and comps for each boss. Like in sunwell raid, I remember I was enjoying even watching boss fights from youtube, because for example cleave wasn't something that every class could bring to a raid, cleave was unique to only some classes and doing it perfectly required a pro player. So you used to fall in love with a class because of its unique spells not because of how easy or op it was.

But I doubt they bring that back again, since the new approach of blizzard is to make this game as easy as possible for every kid out there, no hardcore gaming anymore, top guilds in the world are being disbanded every day, just because those guys are getting older and this game is not bringing enough hardcore gaming for them, it's just not fun anymore as Kungen said. Blizzard is focusing so much on casual gamers right now that their hardcore gamers are getting bored.

Ouch, that was a long story, sorry...

I'm really exited for both demon hunter and disc priest in legion and dont even get me started on the new transmog system.

The overhaul of disc priest looks amazing and very fun to play and it will most defenitly be the second class I will level in Legion right after my Demon hunter.
I always enjoyed melee pve with my druid, but that fell away after it was no longer viable and im hoping demon hunter will fill this gap for me.

I'm super excited for the artifact weapons, love the idea and visuals on them. But the one I'm looking forward to most is obviously the frost death knight one, blades of the fallen prince. Not only do they look awesome, but they're frostmourne re-made! Who doesn't want that. Ever since young little 12 year old me saw Frostmourne for the first time, I've longed to have it and now is finally the time.  As someone who's mained a death knight since they were released in Wrath of the Lich King all those years ago I'm happy they we get this option. Only downside is that Frost seemed to have been hit hard with the new "Legionisation" of specs, making them easier. Unholy looks like a lot of fun and micromanagement, but frost seems devoid of that. It never was an overly complex spec, but making it easier seems like a bad move. Any of my fellow Death knight brothers and sisters agree with me?

I've been playing wow since vanilla and I've always wanted to test the game in beta I miss back in wotlk when it was more of a grind and achievement when you got gear but also mop with the big crits was fun, legion seems like it's going to be a great expansion and some sick looking gear and raids also a big pvper so the new pvp system should be fun!!

I've been a rogue since vanilla wow but with the upcoming changes in legion. It looks like I'll be switching to a ret paladin. I'm a giant lore fan. Who doesn't want to be the Ashbringer????

One of my fondest memories in wow is during Vanilla. The alliance launched a raid on Kargath just as we was setting up our BWL raid. Instead of raiding BWL. We battled against the Alliance for 4 hours. we even hoped onto an alliance guilds vent to find the location of them in badlands to gank them. Fun times

First of all, Happy Birthday Icy-veins and Thank you for this awesome opportunity! :)

I could write a huuuge wall of text about the things I'm looking forward to in Legion, but I'll try to be short.

First of all, the Emerald Nightmare raid:  After all these years, we'll finally be able to go there, kick some ass, deal with Xavius, and hopefully save the dream itself. I cannot wait to help test the bosses there. :)

New Tauren and druid lore: My main is a tauren druid, so this expansion gives me heavy breathing when it comes to story ^^

The profession revamp: Holy cow, how I cheered when they teased this at blizzcon. The state of professions in draenor are really disappointing, but with the changes ahead, I'm really hopeful. :)

And one more lastly: The new Wardrobe system: I think it's safe to say, that everyone have a full void storage and a nearly full bank. I'm looking forward to be able to store stuff again :D

I have a ton of good and bad memories when I think about WoW. There are many stories I could tell, but I have a really funny one I'll never forget.

Once upon a time, I leveled a toon with my friend in Northern Stranglethorn. There is a quest called Big Game Hunter where the objective is to kill a huge white tiger, called: King Bangalash. We accepted the quest and ventured deep in to the jungle to track down the king. At that point, the server started to lag a little, but we thought it's just a temporary anomaly, so we continued our journey. Not long after, we found the tiger and we started the fight with him. What happened next was a thing I thought not possible. Around 60% health, he stopped attacking us, suddenly turned around and started to slowly float away, towards the skies, in to the heaves. We were shocked but we laughed our butt off. We dc-ed not long after, but to this day, the view of King Bangalash reaching out to the heavens, still haunts me. :)

Again, thank you for this awesome giveaway and thank you for teaching us how to not suck in a raid or in pvp with our classes  for the last five years! :)

5 years already! That's a great anniversary! Always looking up the guides for when I try new specs or classes to feed my alt addiction, make sure I get stat prio's right etc. The guides are usually very well explained and since they are usually written by players who know their stuff, it's easy to follow them and you know that you're doing the right thing :D

I'm really looking forward to Legion, the Artifact system seems promising and the weapon models look great, can't wait to see what's more in store for different skins/styles of the artifact weapons. Also looking forward to the lore that ties in with the end of Warlords of Draenor and the new lore that Legion will bring, there's already alot of information out there on videos and guides, but the best thing is to see it for yourself :D

I also like the way that Blizzard is updating 'old' animations, the way that they add a burning legion invasion into the old world zones and how they are trying to keep old content updated for leveling that new alt or for the new player in general who don't like to look at 10 year old graphics! And I think they are doing a good job overall!

Overall, High hopes for Legion.. hopefully the expansion will bring more than Warlords did, let's hope alot of people will come back to the game with Legion, and that we are gonna have a great expansion to look forward too :)

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
