Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

I've been playing  PvP mostly since I started WoW, so I'm really curious about the new honor system. And I hope it works. I have no friends so I play alone most of the time. xD Filthy casual, I know. But I wish I would get into raiding in Legion, as boring as it sounds for me, I wanna see what it's like to do PvE for a change.

Also I have a few druids, so I think I'm gonna be in love with the new forms. Ok, I already am.

And ofcourse like others, I'm very excited to play the demon hunters. :D

As a relatively casual player I'm looking forward to the artifacts/legendary that everyone will have access to this expansion. I've never been able to complete a legendary (other than the cloak) during its current expansion so I'm hoping to be able to accomplish that this time.

As for my fondest memory in WoW I'd have to say it was the all-nighter my first guild and I pulled to take down the Litch King. We started at the entrance and didn't stop until we dropped Arthas in 10m normal. I obtained my bis bow and finished my ring that night. It was awesome.

I been a huge fan of Warcraft ever since I got Warcraft 3 as a kid, especially on the lore part, when I was young I loved to play as the undead, I grew to love the human campagin for Frozen Throne later on cause I really liked the Blood elves. Which is one of the reasons I'm superhyped to play Fire mage in Legion since Felo'Melorn is very cool and significant to me :) Another spec I'm very interested in is Windwalker, cause I really like Monks in fantasy games and how they use their body and fists as their weapon. I've been subbed to WoW since Vanilla and been playing it ever since yet somehow managed to "dodge" every beta invite for any expansion :p

If I got into the beta I would do a lot of feedback, especially on questing and the bugs related to them and give any feedback I can on classes and specs since I play 3 classes in mythic HFC and like to think I got good knowledge of priests, warriors and mages at least.

Good luck to everyone to get a beta invite! :)

Opinion of World of Warcraft: Legion

There's a lot of cool things being added to Legion. Artifact Weapons for each and every spec feels like a great way to introduce new lore into the game regarding classes. A lot of story has revolved around main characters and it'd be nice to introduce story and history for the classes we are actively playing as.

The Broken Isles is also a great place story wise to visit in our adventure to Azeroth. (I'm so glad that we're back in Azeroth.) It'll be nice again to learn more about the world and what happened at these places. The tomb of Sargeras is one place I'm really interested in seeing in-game. It'll be great to experience these classic areas from the RTS's imagined in the MMO.

Quality of Life seems to be the aim for Legion. A lot of Class changes are occuring and are attempting to dehomongize the classes and really streamline the experience for modern day, moreso than Warlords of Draenor has. I'm hoping it will make for better gameplay.

Opinion on World of Warcraft

Well I started playing the game in 2005, and have experienced multitudes of the game in various forms. The game is certainly a lot better than it was in the earlier days. Everything took a lot longer to complete in older expansions so people always had things to do. However in today's version everything is a lot more streamlined and veterans and even newer players are capable of devouring content at a quick pace. Right now I'm enjoying the lul because I can catch up on some of my other characters. However I can see why there are many complaints about the lack of content. Warlords of Draenor seems to have been hyped up to all time high, but failed to deliver on almost every level. It's sad to see that the development team has opted to abandoning the expansion and cutting their losses instead of trying to make it better with additional content patches.

Warlords for me had the Burning Crusade nostalgia that probably triggered the return of almost 10 million subscribers, but that quickly faded when people realized that there just wasn't appealing content to complete and the only thing you could do was raid for end-game or get quickly geared in pvp. Warlords for me, mainly under-delivered in the Lore department. Alternative Universes open various plot-holes and the fact that ultimately anything done in the this AU is pointless to the grand story. There are elements that were severely underdeveloped such as any lore with Draenei, the fact that we did not receive capital cities or Farahlon.

I did vastly enjoy the leveling system, new models, and group finder. The quality of life is improving greatly, but I just wish that WOD had a better story, it seems like things were rushed and many stories didn't get told.

What Are You Most Looking Forward To

The Wardrobe Feature. I am an transmog enthusiast and I love customizing my outfits and collecting gear. There are so many items in the game and there is just a lot of potential for creating a great aesthetic look for your character. I've dreamed of being able to create amazing outfits for a Blademaster or Berserker Warrior, a Menacing Warlock, and Black-laced Rogue, and many more. The Wardrobe will alleviate so much bag space that I'll be able to enjoy my large crafted bags once again, and will be so great that I can finally share my appearances across my entire account!

Fondest Memory

My fondest memory in World of Warcraft would have to be... well I have two actually. The first occurred when I first started playing the game with my high school buddies in Classic Wow. We had just started we were only like level 20, we were so amazed at how big Eastern Kingdoms was. We all took off on foot just to see how large the world actually was. We started in Goldshire and we wound up in Western Plaguelands, it took hours to get there because we kept dying to high level creatures and players. It was an incredible feeling, just to experience how big EK truely was.

My second fondest memory was my guild's realm first kill of Heroic 25man Lich King. A couple of weeks before it happened, we had a very skilled player in our guild leave for his own pursuit and he took several players with him. This caused our guild to become unable to complete 25H ICC. Fortunately his plans to build his own guild failed miserable and he left the server, and we were able to recruit new players who wanted to raid with us. With our new team we successfully defeated the encounter and were able to score Realm First before anyone else. It was so satisfying. Our guild had been raiding since BC and was Realm 2nd for killing Kil'jaden so it was a very big victory for our guild to come out on top in the following expansion.

Looking forward to the Artifacts, they are looking sooo great.

Prestige system seems nice, and Sargeras' presence give me chills.

Wondering what they will do with Prot Warriors.

Overall, looking forward to the great xpac!

Artifact weapons and zone level scaling is what im most excited about! WoD seemed so much less alt friendly then I prefer from previous expansions. Looking forward to leveling and gearing alts for the first time since Wrath :D The collection aspect of the upcoming content has me excited also, my fave mini game is collecting everything! <3

I am excited for Legion. I am excited to see the scaling of leveling at every zone and I hope one day we can do that anywhere in Azeroth. Imagine leveling from 90 to 92 or 100 to 102 in Elwynn Forest :)

I'm looking forward to Legion because I feel it will return some of the feeling of the world that was missing in WoD. I'm a bit upset that I see the garrison interface still in place with the class halls - but if it's implemented well enough it'll be an afterthought and completely ignorable (with minimal reward for doing it - maybe even just for initial levelling?). I hope they don't make it basically required. Garrisons/shipyard are the worst part of WoD and the reason I quit playing for the most part. I didn't like dailies much for this reason either, it makes you feel like you have to play every day.

Also looking forward to artifacts - the single spec focus, I hope, is followed up with close enough spec balancing and situational options (Single Target, Cleave, AoE) within the spec that allow you to actually play the spec you want. No more respeccing between Arcane/Fire in BRF, then having to dump fire altogether for HFC until you've had it on farm forever (not that I experienced that part since I quite well before HFC dropped).

Even just the initial months of the expansion will be exciting, I always enjoy the rush and levelling up. I'm unsure if I will raid at all, but the idea of the new challenge mode dungeons appeals to me. Something on a small group that provides challenge similar to raiding, as someone who plays Diablo every few seasons (for the first few weeks) I think the greater rift-esque system will be interesting to have, hopefully it's a good enough alternative to raiding for someone who doesn't want the commitment of a raid group and has just a small group of friends they play with often.

Also looks like professions will be abit more exciting in Legion which is a nice touch!

Kinda bummed out about losing burst of speed as a rogue tho. But im sure it will work out in the end!

I'm looking forward to play Demon Hunter with amazing glaives and incredible mobility!

And new Artifact weapons bring so much storytelling to the game.

About the past years - I'll never forget my victory over the Lich King) Also, introduction of the Mastery stat added new and interesting gameplay for each class.

I'm really looking forward the artifacts weapons, the new pvp system and mostly the new raids! I'm also hyped for the artifacts quests, they seems epics.

The facts that we can have all the specs of our class is gonna be awesome and the new system of legendarys items is also something that i'm waiting for!

Really scared, but also looking forward to the new Challengemode system. As someone who runs them quite alot, i'm scared they won't live up to what they should be, but they do look awesome right now :)

I'm excited for Legion for a number of reasons. New ability and attack animations, where most are now uniform across the board. I love it, because it makes it easier to detect what someone is doing, as well as doing away with the several limited animations that get spammed (i.e. Male worgen flip attack for EVERY melee ability).

I'm looking forward to the artifact weapons, not so much for their aesthetic, but for the lore attached to them. Even the non-iconic brand new artifacts like Felo'melorn.

This is also the first expansion where I haven't read every last little bit of lore that's been data mined, so I can finally go in completely fresh with no prior knowledge.

And most importantly, the demon hunter. Feeling not so impressed with the direction Blizzard has taken with my current main (windwalker monk), I'm going to start off fresh with something equally fresh and new.

I know this is going to be absolutely buried among other comments but I hope that they're all being read. It's very important to me to be included in the Legion beta. Though many players have been unhappy with Warlords of Draenor, it's been my favourite expansion overall, because of the people I've been lucky enough to play it with. About a month before the release of Blackrock Foundry I found a group of people who have made this game very special to me, and after many hardships in the original guild I found, and after it disbanded, the best of them came together and created our own guild and are now 8/13 Mythic, a feat I'm quite proud of. This would probably be my favourite memory from the past.

I look forward to legion for many reasons, the raid content and new challenge modes are quite exciting to me, and I hope my guild grows as we come closer and closer to the release of Legion. The pruning of even more abilities from classes worries me, though the new animations and class fantasy do seem great, I would like to test this firsthand and give as much feedback as possible. Hopefully I'm chosen so that I can help make Legion the best it can be for everyone else.

I'm most looking forward to the Artifact weapon progression system! I'm hoping that it's going to bring back a similar feeling to the old Talent trees- I liked being able to earn and place points like that. It felt a little more fun than the current iteration with one choice every 15 levels, and no continued progress at max. Can't wait! I'm also excited about the various world-drop Legendaries- more reward and more incentive to do things out in the open world is great.

One of my fondest memories of Warcraft has been doing drunken Aspect of the Pack heroics with my buddies- Friday nights, five of us would drink, queue for Mists of Pandaria heroic dungeons, and try to run them as fast as possible with Aspect of the Pack on at all times. It was always hilarious. Of course, on a serious note, I'll also never forget my guild's first kill of the Lich King back in Wrath. I stayed up until 4am with bronchitis pushing attempts.

I'm going to continue playing my Restoration Druid in Legion.

Can't wait for it! I love the changes they are making. Really enhances the fantasy of the class. Going to have so much fun spreading the hots and flowers!

I'm looking forward to progressing in the new area's and I'm very interested in the new lore.

Behind legion, can't wait to try out the new weapons.

And the whole wardrobe functionality is something, I've wanted in WOW.

For quite some time, not to mention gnome hunters sound like some serious fun.

I'd like to see how demon hunters, stack up against mages.
That should be interesting to see. :)

Being a hardcore 10man raider since late WotLK, liking smaller groups and all that comes with it, I haven't had much fun in WoD raidwise and since Blizzard don't seem to keen on the idea of 10man mythic, I'm hoping that the new Diablo-esque challenge modes are gonna be good and I'm looking forward to spending alot of time in them.

I'm also looking forward to, hopefully, some more class-identity reintroduced, through classhalls and the artifact weapons. I miss the old class quests, warlock mount quest in Dire Maul, the warrior quest on Fray Island and so on, all class' had something that made them special and added something to their identity. Things like the green fire quest for warlocks i MoP was a stroke of genious in my opinion. Would love to see something like that again.

I hope to see some more big meta-achievements/feats of strength. I've always liked doing the crazy big and time consuming things, like the Insane-title or grinding Zin'rokh from archaeology. Sure there was Lord of War in WoD, but that ment doing like 6months of Ashran, and sure Ashran can be fun and all, but not that fun.

Mostly I'm looking forward to the 'new' specs, the specs that are getting overhauled completely, like demonology warlock, outlaw (combat) rogue, survival hunter and of course trying demon hunter! Being a long time tank, I welcome a new tankclass to the game.

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
