Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

I am super excited for the new artifact weapon and being able to play demon hunter! New zones look awesome and I'm stoked for new pvp system. One thing I enjoy currently in WoW is meeting new people and raiding with guildmates.

Hi there!

I've been using Icy-Veins for some time now, so it's nice to come here and share some WoW stories smile.png

Been playing WoW since vanilla, got myself into a raiding guild, Lost Chapter (Earthen Ring EN-RP), where I got the luck of doing most of the 1st boss kills on the server. It was a glorious age and I can't imagine I can ever feel the same again. Luckily most of the friends I made are still real life friends, ppl from all Europe and beyond, so even when I don't raid anymore I got the best part still smile.png

So, Legion is coming, 11 years have passed and I still play WoW, most just logging in for the garrison farming these days. And there is where my fears are. WoD has been a very short content expansion. What would have been of Pandaria expansion if it had stopped at Throne of Thunder? It would have been awful. Well, that is what has happened with WoD. I loved the garrison content, and the initial questing also, but it all got old very soon and not enough content was added to make it great.

So, for Legion I hope it has at least the same amount of content Pandaria had. I'm sure the new features, special the new honor system and the artifact weapon progress will be great in the beginning but I hope it can keep my interest not only through the 1st year of expansion but right until the end happy.png

Here's hoping.

And also hoping you toss this way some of those juicy betas! happy.png

For those thinking maybe "oh yeah eeeeveryone these days says they were Vanilla Raiders", I have for you one last treat. Our Blackwing Lair progress video. In it's time it was one hell of a movie and I still get goose bumps when I see it. The audio is a bit messed up due to copyright issues, but still it's a great example of what it meant to accomplish a 1st kill of this magnitude in a RP server. I hope you enjoy it.

So, Icy-Veins. Happy birthday and here's hoping you ppl get to see much more! smile.png Thanks for all your work.

PS: I'm loving the HotS guides! really good stuff! smile.png

What I'm looking forward to in Legion the most is trying out specs for all classes, to see which one fits my play style the most.  I've been looking for a reason to switch main characters, and the class overhauls may just give me the reason to do that.  I'm also looking forward to the questing experience.  Warlords had phenomenal questing, and provided a great background for endgame content.  I'm ready to fight the Legion!

As a moonkin player, I'm most looking forward to the skill the changes are bringing to the class. I started playing WoW in Warlords, and I am excited to see what they change / add / remove in Legion and how it impacts WoW moving forward. I've been a part of a few guilds in the past year, and I have thoroughly been enjoying the raiding environment and the encounters in general. I'm pumped to see what they do, and I'm excited to play Legion!

Legion will mark the 11th year I have been playing WoW. Aside from the things I've been looking at for the xpac, class revamps, dungeons, raids, content, quests, professions. The overall Lore of the xpac is what I am excited about. Just the fact of guessing what is to come next in this xpac has me all full of goosebumps.

We finally get our answer to the Emerald Dream with the Emerald Nightmare!! What is next!! Azshara Raid? Old God Raid? (dare I even say) Troll Raid. What is happening to the Horde, where is Vol'jin?? How is Alliance handling the loss of Varian?? I've always been a fan of the Lore of Warcraft and being able to go toe to toe with some of the biggest bads in the game is what keeps me playing!

So I guess to sum up my answer. I'm looking forward to the raids...but more about what they will involve because as of now the fate of the whole World (of Warcraft) is up in the air, and I'll leave my trust in the story tellers of Blizzard to keep my attention pulled. They've been doing a good job so far!

I'm super excited about the the expansion of the lore and its multitude of villans! biggrin.png laugh.png
I only started playing WoW in cata so I can't say anything about it before that point , But I really miss buying poisons for my rogue.

I absolutely love the story of Warcraft, ever since the Warcraft 3 days. I'm most looking forward to playing through the evolving story with many returning characters that we haven't heard from in a long time.

My most memorable moment in WoW is definitely the first time I walked through the gates of Ironforge. The music, combined with the visuals were stunning. I wish Ironforge was more popular today.

LEGION!!!! finally the expansion where I think blizzard is getting everything right, PvP only abilities! a change we needed since forever. Artifact weapons so that I can swing doom hammer on my thrall transmog. Class halls to hangout with my fellow shamans and most of all Prestige will finally make me come back to PvP and hopefully finally get 2.4k in 3s

What I look forward to in Legion is The new fox mount and the lovely new Cat form looks from the Feral Artifact. I remember the vanilla days, these were the days when I had time to grind, and worked hard at getting consortium exalted for my first purple item. My rogue still has that dagger. I really love my mage aswell. I would love to have a beta key.

I haven't played World of Warcraft in quite awhile. It got old for me, but recently I've been talking to a lot of my old guild mates and reminiscing about all of the fun times we had. Wiping to bugged out ghosts in Karazhan to yelling at each other for going AFK at the worst possible times without saying anything. It has sparked interest in the game for me again and I'm hoping Legion can live up to all of the fun I used to have.

We've all discussed getting Legion again when it releases and that's all I'm looking forward to. Running the dungeons or battlegrounds with my old mates and having a blast.

I hope noob stories are acceptable comments.

Icy veins helped me understand how to really play wow. I started playing in Cata when I was only ~13 years old and I had no idea what to do. I read online that the best deal for starting players was the battle chest so I bought that. All I used for guidance in the game were the instruction manuals and strategy guides that came with the battle chest. It took me several months to hit 85 on one character because I made way too many alts and had almost no progress on any of them. The character I hit level 55 on was my blood death knight and I may have been the single worst tank to exist. At least half of my deathknight's gear was cloth because I wanted my spells to do more damage. When I first tried to queue for a radnom heroic, I died to the first trash pack and was instantly kicked. I didn't understand why I was dying so much more than before, so I turned to the internet for help. I was explained the basics and told to go here so I would understand my class. I never posted on the forums but I read all the guides I could.

Moving forward into legion, I can't wait for artifact weapons. I was devastated when talent trees were taken away in MoP and always felt like there needed to be something proper to replace it. Two expansions later and the artifact trees are shown for the first time. This is the first time I have really been "hyped" for an expansion so it's sure to be a fun ride.

What I want to see is what they've done to the class order hall. It is common knowledge that people did not dislike the garrisons, but they had so much resources as an output that it was stupid not to stand in your garrison for most of your playtime. I want to see if the new order halls will change this, because I can see they've taken a step in the right direction by allowing members from your class to hang in there with you. Also, I've been saving my [The Skull of Gul'Dan] for 10 YEARS waiting for this moment. I just really need to beat that Orc to death with his own skull. Please Icy Veins? Can you enable my horrible murder?

I'm liking the emphasis on world content, and constant progression of your weapon.  The dungeons all look amazing (besides Violet Hold, I was never a fan of it) and the new class skill animations look awesome.

I'm thinking of changing to either a Disc Priest of Vengeance DH for this expansion.  Disc looks like so much fun, even if the numbers aren't so huge after tuning, and DH will just be something new for me.

I'm not a huge fan of how the artifact weapons for Vengeance DH look, but that's okay.  It's minor to me and I can get over it.

Everyone here is hyped about Legion itself but I'm just waiting to jump the chance to rebuild my UI and start making WeakAuras for my main (DH) and primary alt (Monk/DK). :D

I also promised myself to go minimalistic this time around (like every time..)

While the artifacts, new zones, and storylines of Legion all look very exciting, the thing I am most excited for is the new transmogrification features. The wardrobe will definitely clear up my characters' inventories!

My favorite memory... I think it might have to be one time 10 years ago when I was 14 years old, and a total newbie. I was playing on a PvP server at the time. I grouped with a random druid in STV. We quested and fought the enemy faction together for a while, and had a really good time together. Then I asked him where he's from. Turned out he was from Greece, basically the other end of Europe from where I live, Norway. And he was late for something, so he had to leave.

It was in that moment it really dawned on me how WoW-players come from all around the world, from all walks of life. And that's one of my favorite things about this game, how it brings people from all over, together. That is why this is my favorite Warcraft memory!

What I'm most looking forward to in Legion? Well that must be all the artifacts weapons there is coming out in Legion.

But I must say that the new PvP system also sounds cool af. I can't wait to get my rogue in a high prestige.

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
