Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

I know it's been said 1000 times already but I'm curious about Artifact Weapons.

The reason I say this: They're generally the same, and they have a ton of variation in look and design per character, but it's people building on the same base. So what I'm curious to see if the player base homogenizes this, and makes it the same 'best setup' or if it's a unique choice that doesn't have such a major impact on gameplay that you really get to explore this yourself. Kind of like the idea behind Talents/Glyphs as they are implemented now.

What seemed to happen with Blizzard's idea of 'unique choices, no 'needed' talents' was just the opposite, there are some talents that are very much 'required' for a specific spec.

Will it be the same with artifact weapons? Or will we be able to stamp our own unique voice onto our WoW toons once and for all?! *Cue dramatic Days of Our Lives music*

What I'm really looking forward to in Legion is both the new raids and the artifact questlines for each class/spec! Both for whatever story lies behind them, but most of all which important NPC's we may interact with and/or kill. Plus, any new raids excite me due to the fight mechanics(at least some have a good chance of being new.

As for in the past...well, I'll admit that I miss attunement. I have fond memories of attuning during TBC, so I'm probably looking at it with nostalgia-tinted glasses. Oh, and I kinda miss how gems were in the past.

Happy Birthday! Legion is going to be fun! smile.png

Blizzard is love story which started for me with Diablo, in the 90's. I still believe it to be one of there best games ever. You can clear it mutltiple times in a day. It's basic and fun. Diablo 2 never captured me in the same way. Never had the same ambiance as the old Tristram, dark and spooky! ph34r.png

Then I discovered World of Warcraft and missed Diablo III, which I actually like way more, although I never purchased it. I was to busy with World of Warcraft, which I quit for the last few months.

The legendary ring lurking in my shipyard/garisson on my Warlock since then and my shaman not being far from it.

Maybe I should get them before next expansion goes live?

When I started l paying World of Warcraft on trial, that game already was so HUGE, I not even found out there was a level 70 endgame and stil lhad fun (hence BC), until Warth of the Lich King hit, and went desperate on twinking, because I had no access to a main carrying.tongue.png

I still managed to have some pretty descent 19-39'sand loads of fun in battlegrounds. tongue.png

Warth of the Lich King being the first expansion I played the endgame; I regret the times a lot. I even more regret that I missed BC endgame and had to level to 70 there in times where BC was deserted, almost boring and very hard to pass through and manage dungeons. luckily all this was made easier and less annoying.

It gave a really bad image of that part of the game to me. sad.png

Afterwards, now, I can imagine how fun and loved that expansion must have been, although if difficult. How much Blizzard and the players learned from it, how innovating it was. For example Enhance shaman raid boss tanking, because not all your tanks showed up for the raid and with that keeping up with the one of the top guilds on that realm. wink.png

That's kind of "meta"-lore that the game creates, stories people tell you in your garisson in WoD. However I agree a bit, garissons were a bit destroying the social interaction in the game, but the corwded and "laggy" Dalaran (Wotlk) at spike times had it's issues also. smile.png

Then I rejoined the game end Mists of Pandaria, I never liked the Pandas nore Pandaria very much, now I love them and their lore, simply cute. =D Unfortunately I never manged to have my Panda Monk hit endgame until Warlords, Monks are fun and must have been even more challenging during MoP, if you knew the odds and ends. =P Luckily we got Icy Veins, to be a bit less "newbie" and manage to follow up int the game and to remain up to date smile.png

Very usefull webstite for a "Blizzard-gamer". if there is such a thing, but they manage to create games with such dedication and fascination, call it lt passion or love? Unlike any others, if it's your game-type. Maybe a bit to "addictive".  smile.png

I enjoyed Warlords, though the release wasn't always comfortable and very unbalanced for some classes and Blizzard messed up with for example enhance-shamans, which weren't easy to level to 100, if not annoying, whereas (of course a little better geared) 96 warrior you could kill and assist clearing levlel 100's world elites.

People yelling at you: "What the heck, you aren't supposed to be here in a 100 area at 96!", me, "Yeah, I know, but I already got my Warlock and Shaman at 100 and I am just trying out how far we can go.", and then you helped them in their fight for their dailies. happy.png

The boundaries, I think that's also what Blizzard does in gaming, they push the limits and throughout that are able to create massive fun and an experience for people, unlike many other games or gaming companies.

At the start of Warlords, I believed that Mists of Pandaria, might have been slightly better, more fullfilled, complete, but over the time I found Warlords pretty atractive and challenging, except the garrison camping, a very nice, also if short expansion. Lorewise very interesting and partialy allowing me to play/revisit an ancient part of the game (BC), which I unfortunately missed out and allowing to catch up lorwise (I've never been a big reader and not know all details of Warcraft lore, but I love them). and how the Burniing Crusuade conflict orginated.

Unfortunately, I am pretty sure playing the original BC was more fun.

However, to see all those landscapes, some before they were shattered, and also with actual, meaning more enhanced graphics, Gorgeous!

Nagrand, for me personally, in Warlords really feels how it should, because of the brightness and that shinny landscape which grapahics and technic probably didn't allow during the BC-era and now it felt just right, I still find the BC Nagrand a bit deserted/dead and unshinny. smile.png

World of Warcraft is more then a game it's also a legend, a story. a universe and not just a game without lore, almost like reading a book, in which you can simultanousely participate in writing it.

The "Timewalking"-events were an awesome addition to the game to let revive all the nostalgia and era's of the game played in the last 12-15 years.

All we can see, read and hear about Legion sounds very promissing. I expect a lot and hope not to be deceived. It should become an expansion like BC, Wotl, MoP, really huge and fullfilled, complete and rich in content.

Ashbringer, there're myths about that weapon since World of Warcraft and original Naxxrama, finally it's gonna be equipable. biggrin.png Freaking!!! Why didn't I ever finish  leveling a paladin, now the time!

And Demon Hunters, there'll be sooooooo much to discover... Great.

Kind regards.

See you in Legion and the next 15 years,

Honestly, the biggest thing I'm excited for is just fresh content.  I also love the Legion as an antagonist, and it could drive for some very strong and compelling raid/world content, so I'm looking forward to that.  Also, the feral druid is looking fantastic.

The prestige system should be pretty dope as well.

What I enjoyed the most in the past: 10man raiding.  It was fun going into raids with a tight-knit group of guildies/friends and downing challenging raid content together. Kara, Ulduar, ICC10, all really fun raids that were made a lot better by being in a 10man group.  I'll miss having that, as I raid with mythic now and it's strictly 20man, but I still do enjoy raiding in its current format as well.

Thanks for the giveaway, good luck all :D

I'm really interested in pushing Emerald Nightmare and Suramar Palace. I've recently joined a US top 200 guild and am raiding mythic on two characters. I anticipate that I will be killing Archimonde soon.

At this point, I am looking forward to the new raid tier. Beta would be great for me because I would spend all my time raid testing so that I can learn the ins and outs for when progression starts.

I have also completed challenge modes in Draenor. Unfortunately, that only lasted for a few hours because there is no reason to do them once you get gold. However, I am looking forward to the greater rift style of challenge modes.

I will also be required to play my priest and death knight at a world class level so I am looking forward to learning all the new styles and changes that happen to my classes!

I'm looking forward to a lot of things in legion I'm not a hardcore raider or pvp player but i do enjoy both of those aspects just for fun. I'm looking forward to experiencing all the artifact questlines firsthand as i have been watching videos for the artifact quests done by bellular and preach on youtube not too mention all the amazing looking new dungeons and questing areas as most of my memories have been from questing in wow and raiding those things have made me meet a lot of new people and friends throughout my time playing since wrath.

I am really happy about the future of the new Tabard/transmog system! I have been trying to farm the arathor on my hunter which I already have on my priest and it has been a huge struggle.

furthermore I'm also really looking forward to a future where melee hunter is back being a thing, I'm so ready for this!!!!!!

as for things i'm going to miss are some of my class abilities that are sadly loss in the coming future and hopefully with the new Pvp and weapon talent system I will get the feeling that I will not have lost a lot, with blizzard adding new things back to the alpha recently one can only hope tongue.png

Hey wassup IV, this will probably sound really corny but I'm hella excited for the idea of Tank class dehomogenisation... Why? because My friend and I started as  tanking buddies in Cataclysm (Blood Dk and Guardian druid) and we've tanked through each tier of raiding until my friend quit at the end of MoP due to tanking become quite simple and almost dps-like, with the legion changes we've both become excited for the dehomogenisation of tanks in particular with pain driven DH's and the ability to establish a unique tanking spec using the artifact traits. See y'all on the Broken Isles!

I'm excited for my Fire Mage Artifact in Legion, Felo'melorn. I love the lore behind it, and I will be rocking it all the time once Legion comes live.

One of my favourite moments in WoW is raiding Stormwind with a few guildies (PvE guild) And because of our PvE gear, it took forever for the Alliance to kill us. It was like 7 of us 2-3 heals and rest dps, fighting about 20+ ally.

I'm really looking forward to playing a shadow priest in legion. It was so much fun in cata with the tier set and now the insanity mechanic sounds exactly like the playstile I like.

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
