Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

I'm most excited for Blizzard to make PvP a priority and treat the balance separate from PvE. The new PvP item scaling, prestige system, and separate balance tweaking should make things a much more enjoyable experience.

Legion is on the right track as far as the basics go. but we really need to see where the end game is going to end up. We are not naive to think we want Blizzard to make the same mistake they did in Warlords. We need great endgame content as well as leveling content. I really do believe they can deliver because they did it in the past. Character talents, abilities, and artifacts look super amazing but the only complaint that I have with the artifacts is that we will unlock the entire tree when we hit lv. To me personally, we need literally only a 1/3 of it. It would be great to get a 1/3 every tier. First tier will unlock the complete 1st 1/3 then the 2nd tier will unlock the next 1/3 and so on. Give us something to look forward to rather than give us the whole pie. Just my 2 cents. =D Super Excited though.

Artifact weapons are definitely top of the list for me. The look of most of the weapons are just awesome. The fact that they have a ton of skins makes it even better. One of moments i have ever had in wow was leveling my first character and hitting 90 back in mop. Then realizing the game really opened up at max level. Since then i have been neck deep in wow and i love it

I'm super excited for Demon Hunters (Vengeance armblades yay!), but most excited for the new pvp prestige systems and the legendary items. The legendary items give us a bit of flexibility in our playstyles, much like in Diablo 3. The prestige system I hope will improve WoW's pvp system and give it a much bigger esport audience.

My favorite memory was just the memories of pvping on my protection paladin in BC. I was a raider, but I swapped to a pvp guild towards the end of the expansion to have some fun. The guild leader was never offline, and was always available to help people out or have some fun. One particular memory of the guild stands out. It was a sleepy afternoon, and one of the officers on his low-level alt calls out that he's being ganked. The guild leader and I answer his cry for help. We head on over to redridge mountains and find no one near the corpse of our friend. Our friend tells us that it's a rogue, and he's stealthing around, waiting for us to leave. So the guild leader pretends to leave since I'm tanky and I can defend myself long enough to call out when the rogue appears. As soon as the GL leaves my vision, boom, rogue opener. Silly rogue, I am paladin. He gets me to 70% HP by the time my stun ends. As soon as I can, I pop my holy shield and watch the rogue almost kill himself. Before he gets too low, he vanishes. I call out to the guild leader to come back and that the rogue has not left just yet.

After searching for a couple minutes, I see a red icon out in the distance. Then another. Then another. Pretty soon I see a whole party of hordies closing in on our position. They get us before we can mount up and leave, but we contact the rest of our guildmates that there is an all out war going on.

These hordies were in a rival guild, and so we had to win Redridge from them for the sake of our pride. Pretty soon there's 10 of our guildies, then 15 of theirs, then 20 of ours, until we have a full sized raid group, going on a second raid group to protect Redridge. After about an hour or so of fighting, the horde corpses stop rezzing, and the rest of the horde forces retreat. We were victorious! As a celebration of our victory, we raided each horde city, Orgrimmar last. We had so much fun raiding Orgrimmar, we decided to take it over for the rest of the day.

All of this happened just because one of our friends was getting ganked.

Upcoming excitement has to be, surprisingly (to past me), Transmog. I was never really super in to mogging in part because I never had the room to keep the gear. But sometime in MoP I finally got sick of my mish-mash look and went for it. It's addicting!! Room was still very, very much an issue, though, so my forays were limited. The new system will both give me some extremely needed room in my various storage and allow me to explore xmog on a whole new level (and on my alts too!!!). I feel like I'm late to the game and playing catch-up, but if I was ever going to be late this Diablo style overhaul was the time to do it, if that makes sense c:

Fondest memory is a little bit of a tie, but they're semi-connected. I left my original server alongside my now fiance (it was his original server from Vanilla) to join a new raiding guild after our semi-FnF one imploded. The first night we transferred, they brought me in for H LK (end game at that point, their kill was only a month or so old). We ended up killing him before raid time. It felt amazing. A little later on (1st tier Cata) we scored a top 100/top 20 world/us Heroic kill... again, just awesome. It ended up being a bit of an outlier but our performance the rest of the tier was still really something.

I'm definitely looking forward to the new transmog system the most, as well as seeing whatever changes the pre-expansion patch bring on lore-wise.

I'm looking forward to the new raid and dungeon content that is coming in legion. Also I think the Artifact weapon system will add a new and interesting element to the game that I am hoping to enjoy. My greatest memory from World of Warcraft is reaching max level for the first time in Cata. I had played on and off since vanilla and finally found the motivation to reach 85 on a human warlock. I then got my first taste of end game content and could not get enough of the dungeon and raiding instances

As always with every new expansion I'm looking forward to new lore. The Warcraft lore is what brought me into World of Warcraft. Aside from that though I'm very much looking forward to the new PvP leveling system. I feel like this will make every BG matter, even those that aren't rated. This might bring a whole new breathe of life into PvP for me.

Of course I'm looking forward to the wardrobe, but I think most people are. I'm not so hung up on the artifacts (even though that affliction scythe looks amazing) but I am excited about all of the new class changes across the board. Specifically, it will be nice to see Demo playable again and with a newly implemented play style. I've always enjoyed the way that legendaries are tied to lengthy elaborate quest lines in the past, so I'm skeptical as to how the new legendary system will work in Legion. Overall I think this expansion will be a nostalgia trip for anyone who played during BC, and while I could say a thing or two about Blizard recycling ideas or themes, it will be nice to, in a sense, take a trip back to something the masses enjoyed about the game

I'm looking forward to trying out all of the new artifact weapons and exploring the class halls, and of course trying out Demon Hunter.

Looking forward to the changes to Warlocks. I was never happy with the way meta worked but the thought of being a one man demon army is like all my fantasies coming true.

I've played druid ever since I can remember, I'm really excited to try out the new Balance mechanics, from what I can see from alpha videos the overhaul is really looking good! Obviously pumped for the artifacts (duh).

So excited to get more into Titan and Old God lore! Gonna bring me back to my days of playing in vanilla messing around with the shifting sands smile.png

As a balance druid main as well, it feels great to be able to DPS without being a slave to an auto-scrolling bar. With the new astral power, you can choose how and when you want to spend your resource based on the situation. The new starfall is interesting because it feels like there's a little more skill involved as opposed to the current passive buff.

The only thing I'm worried about is the fact that our new resource is essentially runic power/rage/even maelstrom. I'm afraid it will feel much like playing a DK, warrior, now shaman, or any other class with a generic build/spend resource. My favorite time in WoW was playing Balance in Wrath/Cata because, while they were drastically different in those two expansions, they were incredibly unique and no other class could play the way a balance druid plays. Hopefully we are still unique enough and it does not become stale. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?) 2 of my alts are DK/Shaman, so I will be used to the play-style already. My DK won't feel as unique anymore either.

I'm really excited for the story of Legion in particular. Not to mention the leveling experience seems to be a lot better this time around with the ability to choose you're starting zone instead of being forced down one line. The new class also seems really fun and i can't wait to be able to play it (though im going to wait about a week after release for obvious reasons).

I've been in love with transmog every since it was released back in 4.3 and i'm really glad that they are finally upgrading it to be much better than it already is.

I've been playing WoW since Vanilla, and the game drew me in almost immediately.

Being a Lore nut, the return of the Legion is something Ive been looking forward too since BC, and keeping tabs of them throughout the games varying evolutions (Quest chain at the harbor in northrend, the clues in Cataclysm, and then the story developing through mists and WoD) has had me going nutty.

Now, with Legion on the horizon, I'm more thirsty than ever to get in there and check out the new artifacts, the new characters, the races and their trials, and all the rich lore behind everything.

The demon hunter as a class? FINALLY! This is a MUST HAVE for me, and it's too enticing to know its there, but still too far away!

and almost more than anything.. the raids and dungeons.. I can't wait to see what goes on in there! EMERALD NIGHTMARE?! COME ON!!

I'm fairly excited for the prestige system in Legion. I think that it will be something fun to spend your time on now as a PvPer, especially since gear isn't really relevant anymore, only giving slight upgrades and all that.

I also can't wait for some of the class order halls. While Blizzard was incredibly lazy with some (pointing at Acherus and the Wandering Isle), Dreamgrove and the Hall of Valor are my favorites and the favorites of many others.

I'm really looking forward toward the new artifact weapons designs and the artifact weapon "talent tree".  Espicially the new "class fantasy" concept as well.  In the past I've always liked how the game is somewhat fast paced, which required fast thinking and reflexes to perform very well

Really looking forward to see how survival hunters will play out. Even though I've really enjoyed playing a hunter for almost the past 9 years, I think it'll be exciting to see how all these new changes to each different hunter spec will play out

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
