Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

The fantasy changes for demo locks are really cool - I love the idea of controlling hordes of demons, the current demo just feels meh. Class changes in general seem exciting.

I'm... shall we say cautiously hyped. The stuff we've seen (with a few exceptions) all looks super cool, but I was equally hyped for Warlords, and that didn't go down quite so well in the end. As someone who's absolutely in love with the lore surrounding Illidan and demon hunters, i feel like I'm about to be given the biggest candy bag ever. I am a bit sad that the DH gameplay seems to be pretty dull (even though it was to be expected with the array of incredibly awesome animations). I'm also not a big fan of Ashbringer and Doomhammer being given to the players, as it messes with the lore a hell of a lot. The other artifacts I'm pretty happy with as we didn't know a lot about them and I'm really excited to see how the system plays out. I have purposely avoided looking at the questing zones and dungeons/raids, and I'm hoping to be blown away by them. What I'd really like to see is what WoD failed to deliver on, which is more end game content than just raiding/PvP. I want to see Blizz moving away from the idea that they need to force players into doing their content by giving them high impact rewards, and more towards the idea of "It's there, it's fun, but it's nothing compulsory. Go do it if you feel like it".

I started playing in late WotLK, hit max level in cata and started pugraiding in late cata - Dragon Soul was the first tier I actually got into, and I really enjoyed it. In MoP i started raiding with my then current guild, and even though we were super nooby it was a lot of fun and I have a lot of fond memories from those times, for instance the time 5 of us decided to get all CM golds in the last 2 weeks and we finished on the final day, or the numerous but hilarious wipes on Stone Guards (cats or dogs?).

Things I like in WoW:- A sense of community- The friends I've made- The accomplishment of defeating a difficult encounter in progression- Rocking a super rare title that makes people say "oooooo" (Right now, I use Grimrail Suplexer)- Warlock Lore & Warlock Playstyle (For the most part)- Twink Communities- Changing Mounts from lvl 40 to lvl 20. That was a good change. I did the vanilla grind and raided pre-tbc and yeah. Things I don't like in WoW:- Blizzard's constant urge to fix things that aren't broken- Constantly reusing mechanics (although, I can see how difficult it can be to think up new stuff with 10 years of history)- Garrison-Ville- Blizzard's lack of originality - They use soooo many references. it's like they can't think of stuff on their own, so why not steal from every pop culture icon ever?- Draenor Pathfinder - Would rather pay 10-15k gold, imho Things I'm excited for in Legion:- Demo Warlock- Artifact Weapons- Dalaran Portals Things I'm not excited for in Legion:- Class Halls- The way they are trapping you into a specific spec - As a hc raider, this is frustrating cuz I'd like to be able to swap between all three lock specs easily.- The removal of the current model of Challenge Modes

I'm really looking forward to the new feral druid playstyle. It's gonna remind me of Wrath of the Lich King, with the bleed up your target and kite them playstyle which is my favourite way to play Feral and the new customizable talents is gonna add more to that playstyle

I am sincerely hoping that raiding in Legion is fun and can keep enough people engaged that we can do Mythic. It saddens me every day that my team got completely destroyed by not being a 25-man guild to begin with. My fondest memories are those of raiding with my team of friends as we tackled the hardest content available. When we finally downed Heroic Deathwing I couldn't have been happier. I hope I can find that happiness again with Legion

I cannot wait to see the evolution of the new Garrison-like system. Being able to command over character's that are tied to your class both old and new. Hopefully having lore rich events for specific classes such as what is the fate of , Thrall, Sylvannas, and other notable characters. Even Koltria Deathweaver from Western Plaguelands seems to have some footnote in Legion. I am very excited to see the next chapter of WoW!

Honestly? All the lore implications. There is sooo much happening, with everything from people picking up these artifacts (Aegwynns staff, the staff of the first guardian, reforged frostmourne etc) to the entire legion actually showing up, and we getting some insight into the entire demon hunter world. I have been aware that they existed but now we can get explicit lore behind it.

I'm a lore nut, ok?

There is so much coming in Legion that I'm excited about. There are a couple of mounts I'm anxious to add to my collection, and I can't wait to explore the cracks and crevices of the Broken Isles. I'm looking forward to the Demon Hunter class as well, and have even "reserved" my name for her. I can't wait to see the changes that will be coming to Shaman, and have done my best to avoid finding out ahead of time because I enjoy being surprised on release day when it comes to my main

I've been keeping up on everything Legion wise and which character I want to level up!

I started to play WoW back in the brown box days, when it first launched. I remember hanging out with my high school friend and we spent so many hours playing, leveling and getting a character as high as we could before we realized we screwed up and started over. I didn't start playing again until the end of BC, beginning of Wrath and that was again with some buddies from work. It was since then that I knew I wanted to be part of the WoW community. Whether that was working at Blizzard Entertainment or making YouTube videos. With a chance to get into legion and try it out, I'm super excited to get in and play!

Thanks again for this chance Icy

Leveling alts and gold farming is usually where I like to focus my time in Warcraft. I feel like the Garrisons have put this on easy mode this expansion though. It's not much fun since all you have to do is sign in everyday for garrison chores. Most of my alts never even leave the garrison. The ability to pick what order I want to level through zones sounds awesome. It'll make the leveling experience much less formulaic and repetitive. I'm also excited about the changes coming to professions. I'll make them much more interesting and fun to level. Maybe gathering professions will come back in style . Some of my favorite memories are farming ore in Nagrand during BC to try to save up for epic flying.

What I've been up to until now:

I've been around in the game for almost 10 years now. When I started playing I was rather young and overwhelmed and never got to experience endgame, but what mattered is I had fun. Ten tons of. Fast forward to late 2009, always a mage, always alliance, always PvP, 2good4pve. Still can't get any IRL friends in the game, but met some good friends online which I still play with today. Still I underestimated myself a lot as a player and was too scared to making mistakes when playing with others and getting yelled at. I set my boundaries rather close despite being told I was a very good player. I started working on my anxiety when I joined this guild in Cataclysm of super awesome people and thankfully got out of the issue. I've been catching up with everything I was too anxious to do ever since. I set my goals, achieved them, grew as a person and as a player. I owe a lot to the community and to the game.

What I'm looking forward:

Demon Hunters. Artifacts. Legendaries. Starting fresh, getting into hardcore raiding. Doing stuff, get that awesome accomplishment feeling. Gimme

There is a lot I am looking forward to in Legion, but the biggest would have to be the promise of having relevant PvE content to do outside of raids. Both world content and challenging dungeon content are what I feel made this game truly enjoyable during my favourite part of it's history, The Burning Crusade. The vast wealth of world content to do solo and heroic dungeons which required actually paying attention to do with others made the game far more enjoyable outside of raid time.

I'm excited about bringing my artifact into the new raids, as raiding is pretty much the only thing i do.

As for my favourite memory from the game, that would be my first real realm first, which was Rag 25 HC. If you can call it a memory, since i pretty much blacked out the last minute from all the adrenaline.

As someone who's been playing WoW for over a decade, it's been incredible to see how the game has evolved and changed over the years. I think that Legion is going to be bringing about a ton of interesting changes, from the artifact system to the zone-wide scaling system, etc.

From a gameplay perspective, this offers a lot of new and exciting things, ways of keeping the game fresh, and trying to appeal to a broader audience while still remaining true to the overall feel of the game.

I think it's a very admirable attempt, and while there are some class changes and designs that I'm not 100% on board with, they're not set in stone and still subject to change, which is why I feel that feedback from us, the players, during alpha/beta is incredibly important.

I have a number of fondest memories, so it's hard to pick one. The feeling of getting realm first No Lights in the Darkness and Algalon the Observer back in WotLK is hard to top; it was my first expansion really hardcore raiding, I gave it my all, and was rewarded for the blood, sweat, and tears I put into my efforts. Since I haven't raided quite like that since, but plan to again in the near future, I'm very excited for Legion raids!

However, I think that my fondest WoW memory, or memories overall, are the ones from Vanilla. Not because the game was "better" or because I'm nostalgic, but because I spent hours and hours on my lvl50 hunter doing things like helping run lowbies through Deadmines. It seems like something like that would be so bland and boring nowadays, but back then, I never stopped having fun doing it. Made a lot of friends who later caught up and raided Onyxia and MC with me at 60, and I got to help a lot of people who were overall just really thankful I took time out of my day to do that for them just for the heck of it.

With that in mind, I think that what I'm getting at is that the fondest memory I have of this game was the community I got to experience growing up; the lessons I've learned and the friends I've made. It's awesome to see that the game is changing and evolving, and I'm looking forward to the memories I'll be able to add to my "fondest" collection in Legion!

I just started to play WOW. I don't know what will be in Legion, but I know the new Demon Hunter class will be in it. I also want to experience the story of Legion. The reason I play WOW is because of the storyline. I think it will be great for me to try out and experience the new WOW.

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
