Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

I’m most looking forward to seeing Illidan again, I loved his story in Warcraft III and was slightly disappointed with how he was used in Burning Crusade compared to Arthas or Deathwing in the later expansions. It’s going to be great to see him again and see what Gul’dan has planned for him! I can’t wait to see him and his demon hunter underlings again and of course try out the demon hunter for myself!

I'm really looking forward to legion, especially the changes to monk. Windwalker seems like its going to be a lot smoother to play and Mistweaver seems like it'll be better in 5 man content, which means i'm probably gonna be healing a lot more CM's. I'm hoping to see brewmaster on the alpha/beta soon .

The thing about the heirloom weapons that concerns me, despite Blizzard saying they will ease the process, is that they tend to lock you into a spec.  And, you have to choose that spec long before you know which one will be the best performing.

Blizzard currently allow significant performance differences between dps specs: enough to make a difference when stretching to beat content.  Making it harder to swap between specs without incurring a penalty is lame.

I'm excited about (and dreading, tbh) the class changes. As a raid healer knowing my skills is really important, but it has come to the point that I don't even have to think about want ability to use (sort of like a DpS rotation, I guess) as mana is no longer relevant as it was in the beginning of WoD. I will definitely do a thorough ability check before I decide which class will be my main in Legion.

My favorite moments, so far in WoW.... I would have to say getting the Lich King to 10% and remembering the panic and disappointment when the content was current and we thought we wiped. Again. Having the extra phase on Garrosh mythic wasn't even half as fun, as everyone knew about it.

It takes a lot to get me hyped about stuff but the things I've seen so far are just amazing. The Demon Hunters look awesome and they seem like a lot of fun to play. This alongside the new animations and Artifact weapons make WoW look like a different game to me with the familiar content we all know. I've seen several videos on YouTube about the new zones and they are just wonderfully designed if you ask me.

I hope Legion won't disappoint and that a lot of people will come back to WoW.

I'm very prepared for legion.  I have my Transmog sets in place for my Demon Hunter for whenever I'm able to make him.  and I can't wait to try and unlock every single one of the different artifact weapon customizations for my main toons.  Even if it means PvPing my way to the top.

And when I'm all decked out in my new gear,  I'm going to save the world along side my guildmates in <Unitology>!

Hear that Gul'dan?  we're coming for ya!

I'm looking forward to being able to play Feral again, I made the mistake of going boomkin because my raid team needed one, and now I have too much boomkin gear to switch back. Also really looking forward to raiding, it was my favorite part of WoD and it looks like they're keeping the same style so hopefully they'll be just as good or better in Legion

Really hyped for legion, primarily the new raids. Gonna be really interesting to check the new artifacts aswell!

My most memorable moment in wow has got to be my first time raiding. I just really loved the way you could meet new people and overcome hard bosses together. Can't wait to do it again in legion!

I played wow since the beginning of Wrath of Lich king and i enjoyed lving my first Character which was a warlock to 80. I also enjoyed the new expansions that came later on because I always enjoying seeing new lore and trying out new classes and their class changes.

I am really excited for Legion because of the lore seem very heavy in a good way and the new artifact weapons look great especially the Demo warlock's skull weapon. I always been a demo warlock since I created him at Lich king days, so seeing the revamp on the spec is what I am most looking forward to play and is very happy on how they are making the demo spec now :D

Also I'm really excited to see Illidan coming back I didn't really learn his lore till after i play a few years in WoW, but when I did I was wishing i played earlier in BC days because Illidan is one tough bad ass.

One more thing I always Love the Raids, so can't wait to play the new ones in Legion!!!

I expect a lot from Legion - it looks so damn tasty! Maybe it will help the game to freshen up and become even better - really hope so! Most changes feel really great for me (especially those artifact weapons and PvP talents), so can't wait to check them out!

I am really looking forward to Legion and if you haven't told by my name the feral druid is my favorite artifact i think they're adding in the kitty forms look really good. I don't like how WoW has been going downhill especially in wod where i think they really screwed up but Legion will have to bring that up, I also do play daily to level up my alts and for the pvp which leads to my second point the new prestige system has me excited as well even though i havent played wow that long and didnt enjoy vanilla since i joined in MoP but i really liked my experiences in MoP.

At first when Legion goodies were being released from Alpha I was excited about many things, mostly the new druid forms. Finally we were getting something amazing and special, something I could work for to show people at a glance how much I love my druid. I, so far, love the artifacts and all the extra content they can bring to the game. I'm very excited to get started on them and see what all they have to offer for entertainment and accomplishment desires. From there I saw all the new mounts, mounts have always been a treasured favorite. I love all the new concepts, colors and the upgraded textures and resolutions. My favorite by far is the fox. I was also excited about the new lore changes though I've tried to not spoil it all too much. I like to experience the context of an expansion through experience so I may not sound too excited about lore but I really am! There are so many different things I'm excited about but what I'm most excited about came as a surprise to me. I was watching a video on the new concept for Herbalism by BellularGaming, I love the new concept by the way, but that's not what hit me... The new resolution and graphical changes to the game are STUNNING the world is vivid! Gorgeous! I was blown away! I am so excited to see this new beautiful world that blizzard has worked so hard to give us. I want to run in the grass and watch with child-like awe as it moves below me. I want to trace my fingers over the structures of wood and metal buildings, I want to feel myself drawn in and fully enveloped in a world realer then life. I want to watch the way updated models sway and turn, I want to see the glow and viverity of the new evil nightmare corruption. I want to see it all and be struck in awe like a brand new player.... That is what I am looking for the most in Legion and I want to have a chance to spend every second I possibly can, admiring this gorgeous game... I still dream about that vibrant green grass, frolicking after herb foxes, watching the plants move around my feet... watching the sky above me... *sighs wistfully*

I really can't wait to plan Demon Warlock in legion! My best memories in WoW would be during MoP, I know people hated that Expansion but it was really good for me. It was the time when I started doing PvP and I made lots of friends I play with today. People may have hated Timeless isle but I was PvP heaven for us.

16593-icy-veins-5-years-anniversary-200-

Grab your chance to win a Legion beta key!

Icy Veins is turning 5 today and we wanted to celebrate it in the best way possible! We're giving all of you the chance to win a key for the upcoming beta of World of Warcraft: Legion!

As 2011 approached, two young gentlemen were sat discussing ideas for a World of Warcraft website. Ideas were passed back and forth, drafts were drawn up and the first edition of the Icy Veins website was released on the 21st of March, 2011. With a total of 3 guides for specialisations, 2 of which were Mage guides, and 1 raid encounter guide, Icy Veins was beginning its long journey.

5 years later and here we are! With a brand new design just released and with more changes planned in the near future, Icy Veins has not only grown, but matured under the watchful eyes of its founders, Damien and Vlad. With their tireless work ethic and their dedication to the site, we've seen Icy Veins expand from a small World of Warcraft guide-hub into a Blizzard-wide gaming community.

I feel like the word community is worth focusing on, since that's the general theme of today's post. With a growing membership on the forums and an increasing viewer-base on our news posts, Icy Veins has grown into a family. Without the users that visit the site each day, Icy Veins could never have become what it is today. Readers allow our team to do what we love: creating content for all of you.

For everything that you have done for us, we thought today would be a perfect day to do something for you.

Legion Beta Key Giveaway

As many of you know, World of Warcraft is releasing its new expansion this year: Legion. The expansion is overhauling a huge number of aspects within the game, as well as introducing a number of new parts into the game.

Many of you won't have been able to experience all of the new content that is being released, so we wanted to help. With the aid of Blizzard, we're giving away 200 keys to the upcoming beta; 100 of the keys will be given out this week, 100 in another giveaway next week. It's a pretty simple giveaway, you'll just need to post an appropriate comment on this post before the 29th of March to enter!

So what is an appropriate comment? We love hearing back from our readers and we love discussions, so why not mix the two and put together a giveaway! We want to know all about your opinions on Legion, as well as WoW itself. Let us know in the comments what you're most looking forward to, as well as your fondest memories in Warcraft history! Whether it's a guild moment, a personal moment or a moment in the game's story itself, we want to hear it.

Rules

As with all of our giveaways, there are some rules:

  1. Every comment must be relevant to this article, giving examples of what you look forward to in Legion and what you enjoyed in the past.
  2. The first giveaway will end on the 29th of March at 23:59 GMT.
  3. Only one comment will be counted per person.
  4. Comments on the linked articles will also be included in the draw if they are relevant to the topics.
  5. Commenting on multiple topics will not increase your chances of winning.
  6. The winner will be drawn randomly from all the comments that are deemed "acceptable".
  7. It is at our discretion which comments will be deemed acceptable, based on the extent to which they stay relevant to this article.
  8. We will not release the dates on which the keys will be released, as Blizzard have requested us not to do so.
  9. We do not know when the Beta will start, so please do not analyse our article hoping to find that. It's not there.
  10. The comments section will be checked via a bot used in previous giveaways, so multiple comments will be found.
  11. We have tools to detect cheating, so please don't bother.
  12. We reserve the right to stop anyone competing if we believe they are cheating.

Legion Information

If you're struggling for inspiration or you haven't been able to explore some of the information being released from the Alpha, we've made sure to give you a few pointers below:

Players will be equipped with the mightiest weapons of Azeroth, the artifact weapons, each tied to our classes with a unique link in lore. If you're looking to find some additional information on the lore behind your weapons, as well as some of the alternatives, you can always check out the artifact series we featured!

If the artifacts aren't quite tantalising enough, there's always the swathe of new dungeons being introduced with the expansion, such as the Arcway.

Still not excited? You must be a PvPer then! Worry not, there's a sparkling new prestige system being introduced, as well as a number of changes to the way PvP will work from now on.

Still? You're a tough one to please. Maybe you prefer a more pacifist route through Azeroth? You'll be able to enjoy more costumes and outfits than ever before with the new transmogrification and wardrobe systems

You can also check out the interviews I had with Venruki, Treckie and Tegu in our "Will Legion Save WoW?" article. You'll get perspectives on changes from some of the best players in the world in both PvP and PvE!

Before you enter, make sure that your computer is up to scratch for the Legion client by checking the system requirements.

While I'm not entering, I'll never miss out on a chance to take part in the fun! Personally, my favourite part in Legion so far and what I am looking forward to most is the lore surrounding certain characters. I don't want to put spoilers into this post, but you can check out the fate of some of them in our spoilers posts (Part 2). As a favourite moment of WoW, it would have to be the moment I first saw C'thun. The constant taunting as you approach, his appearance, it was just amazing. That for me is the peak of nostalgic feeling towards this game.

That's it from me. Good luck to you all and I can't wait to read your replies!

Im realy excited and looking forward to the legion content, but the most exciting thing for me is the new form for the freal druid with the brand new artefact

I'm really excited to play shadow priest/demo lock and affliction. I like most of what I've seen so far for the legion expansion. However, I'm worried about a few things. Such as only having 4 zones, and 3 raids again like wod. I'm excited to try the class changes more than anything, I do worry some classes/specs may be too "gutted" though.

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
