Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

Oh man. Guys, I don’t even know where to begin with this. I could probably end up writing a novel over those four simple questions. Whelp. You asked. So buckle up, and get ready for this ride.My opinions on Legion:      Simply put? Love it. Love what I see. Love the direction of PvP. Love the in depth lore that seems to be engulfing this expansion. It’s just drenched in so many countless possibilities. I’m literally at the edge of my seat (Possibly have slipped from said seat a couple times, but shhh. Don’t tell anyone). What will happen? Who will parish? Will be push back Sargeras? Or will we wade through his countless minions, only to have our victories shattered as he steps through the portal into our world?     Not only that, but what about Grand Magistrix Elisande? While never on really good terms with the world, once she had a bit of common sense (Not going to say too much to avoid spoiling stuff for people). Will we be able to make her, and the Nightborne see the error in their ways? Or are we just going to put her on farm status and pillage all those loots… Probably the latter, but still. I like the Nightborne, they look awesome.     Then there is this talk about more Titan Lore…. Ooo man. Don’t even get me started. I’m literally drooling at the mouth for this one. DROOLING. It’s super attractive. And after reading the Chronicles book. Well… yes. Just all the yes.     Also. Let’s not forget the art. The new arena alone is absolutely breathtaking. The elegant Elven structures. The creepy feel of the Emerald Nightmare. They really outdid themselves this expansion, I simply can’t wait to immerse myself into this world.Ahem. I should probably continue on. Okay then.My opinions on WoW itself:     Well. It’s come a long way. A waaaaay long way. I remember back when I was a cute little high schooler (Really weird to think about…) first logging into Vanilla WoW. The world was so vast, so new. So breathtaking to me. It wasn’t long after that I realized…. Blizzard was evil (I love you Bliz <3). Pulling two mobs at once was deadly, three was a guaranteed death. I had to venture through the world to collect –every- flight path, or run the risk of not being able to go anywhere. And don’t even get me started on the death run between Darnassus to Stormwind. Seriously, I must’ve been a masochist. Being an Elf was –not- worth that torment. But regardless of such hardships, the challenge was captivating. I felt accomplished with each level. As though I had earned it through sweat and blood. I stared up at top tier raiders wearing tier 1 as though they were my heroes.     Then PvP came out. Well, I mean, there was always pvp in the game. Tarren Mills Vs South Shore battles were legendary. But, now we had set fields. And oh boy, did we learn how unbalanced pvp really was. And then that honor system they had. The challenge was God like. I dreamed of Grand Marshal, then realized you had to eat, drink, and sleep pvp to keep it. Thus, it became a fleeting dream, yet always a nice thought.     Anyways. Continuing on with the point of this reminiscing. Things have changed a lot in WoW. Leveling as grown easier, yet has become bathed with in depth story. Pvp has been revamped, overhauled, tripped, shoved, pushed, pulled, danced upon, and even had the kitchen sink thrown at it. Raiding has evolved, not just in the sense that Blizz continues to think of creative ways to kill its players, but now it’s woven and integrated into the story of the larger game and the opportunity to partake in such vast battles is given to people that can’t dedicate great deals of time to the game (some people may agree that this is okay, some may not. Either way.)     So. Ultimately. Even with this changes. Even with the shifts in directions. Directions that I sometimes agree with, and sometimes cry, or even rage at. My opinion of WoW is about the same as the day I first stepped into its vast world. Star struck by awe and amazement, over the wonders that are around me. Excitement, to explore, to venture, and reveal its secrets. What am I most looking forward to:     Demon Hunters. Yep. I’m that person. The one of millions who is foaming at the mouth for this little morsel. I’m sure countless people have said this, but man I’m going to sing that same tune. I have wanted Demon Hunters since Burning Crusade. I have preached their greatness to all my friends. All of which began their attempts to tarnish my hopes and dreams after years slipped by with no sight of Demon Hunters to be seen. But I held strong. Never wavering.     I kid you not. You know that feeling you get when an overpowering sensation of joy just surges through you, and before you even realize it you’re shouting from pure excitement? Unable to even control it? I kind of picture it something like what teenagers do at their favorite boy band concert. Yep. I did that.  I was a teenager over Demon Hunters. I regret nothing.     Plus. Not even moments after the announcement, my phone exploded with congratulations from said group of friends. I had won.     Aside from that. I’m very much looking forward to the story. Though you saw me drooling over that above. Next would be PvP. The revamp looks amazing. One of the biggest problems my friends and I faced each expansion is, we never knew what to do in larger groups. Yes, we normally did do Battlegrounds together. But it lead to no real means of progression. After a while, we just began breaking up into smaller groups to do arena. Now. We can continue on as a giant wrecking ball of PvP goodness and gain something from it. Happy days. Fondest memories in Warcraft History:     Again… I could write forever about this. But this is starting to get long. So I’ll try and keep it brief.     Valor. No no, I don’t mean the cute little points you get now-a-days. Oh no. I mean the real deal. The original dungeon set. Valor armor for the warrior class. I had worked countless hours, days, and even weeks, on trying to get these pieces. And when I got my first piece. An overwhelming surge of happiness flooded through me. Seriously. My smile was ear to ear.     Tarren Mill Vs South Shore battle. Now this was a tad bit later down the road. It wasn’t until I got involved playing WoW with IRL friends that I found the true beauty of this. I had made a Hordie on a PvP server, joined their guild, and was innocently questing. When the ganking stared. Then the camping…. Then an ignorantly grumbled complaint to said friends. Thus, the first domino fell to what became one of the most epic battles I had ever witnessed. The clash was glorious. They showed up, more enemy showed up and it never stopped. Sad I wasn’t 60 at the time… but… even still. It was epic.     After that. It’s gotta go to the Netherdrake Mount. It wasn’t until about Wrath that I managed to back track and get this little gem. The daily grind was still annoying. But was worth every second in the end. These majestic dragons were gazed upon with a wanting stare. However, I wasn’t good at raiding, nor was I good at acquiring money. So their epicness was denied to me until the next expansion. But. I got them in the end.     Which also reminds me. My first ground mount, way back in vanilla has to go on this list. Nothing to epic about this. But holy crap, to get the gold needed for one of those bad boys…. Sadly I missed out on the original batch of ground mounts. I couldn’t get the gold in time. Oh well.     The story line in wrath. This was pretty much the first time I ever got chills of excitement from a questing experience. Thus, the first time I actually enjoyed questing.     Annnnnnnnnd. While there is so many more I can prattle on about. I think I’ll leave it on this note. I have to give it to the Warcraft Chronicles book. While this isn’t exactly old school or anything. I have to say, reading this book, diving even deeper into this in depth world that Blizzard has created, truly has helped set the inferno of desire to play this game once again.Anyways. This was an insanely long response. Honestly, thank you simply for the opportunity to go on about such things. It was fun to reminisce about it all.  Congratulations to your 5 years. And continue on for 5 more. I can’t even count how many times I’ve swung by this site. (Though I generally do just that… not exactly the most social butterfly) But I appreciate all the hard work that is done none-the-less.Have a good one.

Ultimately, Blizzard needs to figure something out moving forward. Legion is great, but the concept of MMOs is slowly dying. The main problem being, how do you keep content relevant when it typically gets consumed so quickly. So it takes blizzard probably 4, 5, or even 6 months to work on a raid tier. Then it takes most of us about 40 to 50 hours to wrap up that raid tier then go and complain about the lack of content.

There's a reason the industry is doing more and more online multi player games (Overwatch) with little to no single player or even co-op campaigns. It's just not as profitable long term to make massive online games in story mode.

A lot of us MMO junkies started jumping games between patches. A lot of us go and come back between WoW patches. Ultimately, Legion will boost sub numbers for a few months, but with this issue not resolved a lot of people are going to just eat up all the new zones, game modes, and raid content then move on to the next thing. We're all addicts of novelty now.

Legion on a surface level looks awesome. A lot of my gripes since Cata was released are being addressed. But if friends take a hiatus, and guilds struggle to fill spots ultimately the expansion will fail for me.

Some of us will stick around on WoW just like there's a base of people constantly on EQ, FFXI and even Ultima. But without a steady very constant stream of content where users are barely able to get bored or consider other things, WoW might never see back its glory.

What I look forward to in legions comes down to many things but, mainly I am excited to finally have some class identity, I remember when I first started to play in cata and I started as an arms warrior we had over power slam cant quite remember if sunder was there but it was much different than fury and for that, I wasn't able to understand fury but, the new dumbed down arms is a bummer and I am really excited mostly for the new changes to arms and fury. Legion is going to be AMAZING

I really enjoy pvp fom BC era to WOD, it is one of the only aspects where being social is required. For Legion I hope it will only improve that for the new honor system will eliminate the boosted characters from the pvp system, due to how you learn how to play your class but also earn it.

I am most looking forward to the new Artifact system. Being able to collect the different looks for them and also being able to upgrade them through their own talent trees just looks awesome! In the past I have really enjoyed the 10 man raids, with my number one favorite thing in WoW being Karazhan, that place was just awesome!

I look forward to Demon Hunters and artifact weapons. My love for Demon Hunters is a bit personal than others reasons . I've roleplayed a Demon Hunter for a bit over 4 years now, and I just am in love with the Fel magic aspect of their power and their uniqueness as a class. I feel like Demon Hunters are unique to WoW as compared to some other classes, like for example, (and don't hate me for saying this, as I main a warrior xD) the warrior class can be found in many other games. With Blizzard introducing Demon Hunters as a class, we can hopefully see another side of Illidan. Oh, and double jump and glide! Heheh. I look at Artifact weapons as Blizzard introducing more class customization and it makes me feel as if our characters have actually grown into power as expansions have come and gone. I think all of our accomplishments, in a lore perspective, has lead to this. The figures of Warcraft recognize us, and the artifact weapons show me personally that we are as much part of Warcraft as any other prominent lore figures are. I have enjoyed the story of world of Warcraft, and I still do as it continues. I have enjoyed raiding in World of Warcraft. I actually didn't start raiding until Dragon Soul LFR but I've been playing since Wrath. I have slowly gotten better as time has went by and I enjoyed the journey of progression and getting better as a player (and trust me, I'm much better now than what I was lol).

I started playing wow on vanilla believe it or not ... well to be honest my father was the main guy behind the action but because he didnt speak english (since we are from greece) he used me as the translator so whenever he needed to know where to go or what the quest requested.

I remember the first time we went through the dark portal after TBC released. After the loading screen i got goosebumps seeing all the demons fighting this huge battle and right in the middle that huge pit lord i was so excited.Unfortunately my father left in Wrath Of the Lich King and he kind of forgot about warcraft but i didnt every day i waited and waited until i had the ability to get the game and get enough gametime.

The first time i played wow seriously was in warlords i watched tons of guides on youtube and read tons of articles about my soon to be main class the paladin and more specific the retribution paladin.I leveled really fast got some HC gear and found a guild. In that guild i was able to defeat both Highmaul on hc and nm AND Blackrock Foundry on nm.unfortunately they left due to the lack of content(who can blame them). This was when Warlords died for me.

But Legion has given me the hope i lost. everything in the expansion looks amazing and with the right balancing can be amazing.I have seen all the alpha has to offer through various websites and youtube channels following this expansion closely the only thing that worries me is that we havent seen any challenge mode updates yet.All in all i am verry excited for this expansion i always dreamed of controlling a demon hunter and team up with illidan so we can defeat the burning legion.I cant wait for this expansion to release.

I'm looking forward to the Raids mainly. I love raiding with my guild, it's so much fun. I'm also looking forward to the artifact weapons, i think they're going to be pretty awesome. I'm just a bit worried how Blizzard are going to handle, how to switch specs. Since your main-spec Artifact is going to be a lot more powerfull than your off-spec ones.

I remember back in Cata, when i was on my Deaht knight, it was my first time in Dragon Soul and i got the two 1-handers from Deathwing. That was best night ever.

I am looking forward to the new zones (maybe even old?) and how they will interact with my character with the new scaling system among so many other tings.

One of my favorite memories from WoW is when I first started playing and how interactive players were back then. I was only starting out leveling in Darksore in the start of TBC at lvl 12 ish and I already got contacted by other players who wanted to group up and quest together with me and later on as I hit level 70 those players contacted me again as I was standing in Shattrath City posting in trade chat that I was looking for a raiding guild. So they told me to appliy to their guild forums and from that day I had a awesome guild I main healed in and got see everything up til the Lich King fight until I had to quit due to IRL. Now that I have returned to the game it's really hard to find that experiance again, because now i is just queue up and leave, and I hope Legion can bring that back, hopefully. :)

For Azeroth!

I look forward to kill Gul'dan!

I look forward to the new honor system which is great since I have never felt much in terms of wanting to pvp in previous expansions

I look forward to explore the lore and questlines in Legion and of course to power up my artifact weapon.

Lastly I look forward to the Diablo style challenge mode dungeons as I feel it will keep dungeons relevant for far longer than previously.

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
