Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

The End-game of Legion looks so good. All the class fantasy aspects are great! With some luck I can get into the beta and the beta will let me try out all the Artifact quests, I want to play them all but I dont have 11 lvl100's!
With some luck I can get some friends in for launch to make it a full experience!

My name is Alex Furberg and i've played World of warcraft for 5 years now. I've always been a PvE guy. I always liked to kill bosses and progress through raids. My experience in WoW and how it changed my life made a huge impact in my current life. i've made lots of friends, uncluding some in my guild. Now that i saw this that you're giving away beta keys i have the chance to go into the alpha/beta. Since i saw  Towellie (famous twitch streamer) played the alpha i've literally dreamt about the beta. i log in everyday on my mail to see if i've got the alpha or not. Unfortunately i have not got an invite. I don't know if i "deserve" an alpha invite but i'd love to check the new content and test some classes and see if there's any difference. I would love to get an invite to the alpha and slay monsters through Legion. I guess i dont't have anything else to say. Good Luck to everyone. Lok'tar ogar.

I'm looking forward to the lore with the new expansion, and my favorite memory in WoW was probably the first time my guild and I raided Kara.

The questline reminds me when I was 8 and my father was playing WoW wotlk and he took a toilet break and I was looking and the desktop like a dumb child and I started to move my father's character which was a tauren druid. Then I saw in the right side of the screen the quests and I clicked on unpin the quests from the screen and I started to panic because I thought I deleted all the quests, but fortunatelly my farher knew to pin back the quests:))

The first month or so of an expansion is always the most exciting for me, as seeing new lore and storylines always brings me back to that first feeling I had playing the campaign for Warcraft III. That being said, I'm most excited about the artifacts, because I love me some badass weapons and especially feeling like my character is important. The epic titles have lost their appeal for me, so I'm loving the idea of having actual lore-important weapons in my gear.My favorite memory in WoW was my first character start, being able to control a night elf druid for the first time from the first person, after controlling them in Warcraft

I am so excited about the Priest healing changes in Legion and the rest of the healers. I so want to try all of the healing specs in legion and compare them . I have mained my priest as disc/holy for the past 9 years and i would love to try the changes they are getting in legion beta <3 I have loved everything in the past about wow, but my favourite time would be the ICC raid and killing Lich King for the 1st time

Back a year or so ago I though MoP would be my last expansion since I was getting married and starting a new chapter. When WoD came out the hype and what I saw at Pax East drew me in. As an Enhancement shaman I was excited and then towards the end of WoD I felt there was something missing both in spec as well as content. I was never the one to farm for legendaries like thunderfurry so I always missed out. With the artifacts now coming out and what seems to be a potential epic expansion with a new class and the ability to wield Doomhammer, I have no choice but to say one more xpac one more time. In the past I can't help but remember when I first started back in vanilla and the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj were opened on Undermine and I wasn't even max level yet so didn't even know what it was. All I did was watch giant Anubis like characters reign terror on fellow players. Then BC came out and I started raiding for the first time in Kara. By far the most fun I've ever had in a game.

I'm so excited to see the artifact weapons in Legion and how they will evolve throughout the expansion. It seems like they're constantly adding new skins and this is just fantastic to me. Something I enjoyed in the past? Well that's easy. I only really started proper high end raiding at the end of MoP and I loved it. I now have a schedule, a really friendly guild and I've earned the Blackhand mount. Now I'm 11/13 Mythic HFC and I'm enjoying every minute of it.

I think blizzard is doing a great job on Legion, we're getting a much larger beta/alpha time that will improve it's launch and hopefully the expansion as a whole, I really love all the new animations for melee especially I always felt like it was missing something for me to erally enjoy trying a melee class thanks to it's boring and soundless animations.I believe even when personally draenor is being the most fun I had since lich king it goes down to pretty much because I'm on a raid core again which I didn't have for cata/pandaria, that said I don't like the state the game is in right now, take my core away I would not be playing and I never felt that before in LK,cata or pandaria they had plenty fun and interesting world content, dailies for interesting and rewarding factions (lich king being the best). My fondest memory in WoW clearly is when I first set foot in Grizzly Hills what a complete joy that was, that place was beautiful looking gorgeous soundtrack, I almost teared up, I leveled both my characters there during lich king (my first lv 80 was my dk and secondly I leveled my shaman that was my main until draenor) to this day I still leveled all my characters going to that map gives me a great nostalgia, I still have it's soundtrack saved on my youtube account as favorite  I really want to get into the beta I want to be able to test all the changes and see it on my monitor, it's different from you know watching videos on youtube, it's you, you seeing it , you learning how to play the class with all the new changes, I want to expenrience that, I want to see all the order halls check the new maps, highmountain reminds me of grizzly hills from what I've seen I really want to explore that map asap well that's my "story?" I guess sorry for not making it shorter I tried to make it short but I left so much stuff out lol Good luck on the giveaway to all

I am definitely looking forward to continuing the story and lore. I haven't read any spoilers yet, but I really hope that Sylvanas gets to play a big role like Blizzard has hinted at. Also, I dream of Jaina Proudmoore going crazy, to the point at which she becomes a raid or world boss. There have been WAY too many Horde leaders as major villians. As far as classes go, MM Hunter, Frost DK, and Demo lock look exciting to me. I will likely play Dark Ranger/Black Arrow regardless of whether they are not the "best" in their tier. They just look and feel too amazing not to

Thanks for hosting this giveaway. One of the main things I'm excited about with Legion is actually getting back into the game and raiding. I went through a lot of life and work changes in between MoP and WoD that caused me to step away from the raid team and unfortunately that was a recipe for stepping away from the game in general for me. As a long-time raider of almost a decade (most of that time spent in one guild), I've been getting that raiding itch and my schedule has opened up for it. So needless to say, I'm ready to get back into what I love most about World of Warcraft when Legion arrives: killing bosses. I'm also looking forward to playing a Demon Hunter. I've been a Warrior most of my raiding career (melee all day) and I might just be shaking things up this time around. One of my goals is to focus more on one character and a little less on alting so I can get back into activities I used to enjoy a lot like PvP. It's been a few expansions since I was more invested in that so this is a good time for that as well. Some of my fondest memories are sticking with a core raiding team in the same guild for many years. Killing Illidan was my first big accomplishment with the team and that soon led to many other memorable encounters in the years following. Being able to step back and arena with closer friends is always enjoyable. Of course, having a ridiculous number of alt characters and always be willing to learn a new class and level with a friend helped define this game for me too. But at the heart of my love of WoW is raiding and I can't wait to bring that back. As always, I'm pumped for new zones, quests, and dungeons. The overall feel and impression of an expansion is shaped by these things and Legion's offerings look promising. I've never been one to complain about one expansion then get hyped about the next, either. I've enjoyed the game for a long time and I expect I will continue to do so.

I'm excited about the new PVP system.I really liked the way you had to be lucky enough to get a weapon drop in a raid/dungeon/rare mob , not by completing a quest and getting the best weapon you can get on that class and spec (the only weapon)

I look forward to getting my Artifact weapon and then leveling up in the new zones, I also cannot wait to level up in Suramar but I'll level in Azsuna first like Metzen told me to. Something that I enjoyed in Warlords would be raiding and I hope that it can be improved, I hope we at least get more raids besides Suramar Palace and the Emerald Nightmare. Though they look really cool, they cannot be the only raids at launch. the quality of Mists raids were great and even thought there were 3, they were still good. I think that we should get 3 raids at launch and have 2 other raids in the form of patches like Mists but also keep the aspects of why everyone loved Warlords raiding

In the newest expansion Legion, I am most excited to try out all the artifacts and learn the lore behind them all. I'm currently in the process of leveling every class to 100 so that I can do each artifact for each spec. I'm also excited to see all the new spell animations and also the new graphical updates <3

Looking Forwards to Legion changes to Mage and Prot Pally's. Blizz is doing a great job making so much needed changes to many of the classes to give them their own personality. It is evident that Blizzard is really wanting to create class and role identity with more unique play styles which is much needed.

I look forward to the new Transmog system and being able to "unlock" old quest gear that I have thrown away many years ago and later regretted due to being the only matching piece of a transmog. I often wanted to go for the Loremaster title but was afraid to complete it since I did not have enough room for all the quest reward gear.  I´m also looking forward to the new Artifact shapeshifts for Feral and Guardian because they are simply awesome.I´ve created alot of memories in this game but a fun moment that occured about 4 years ago was when me and a group of friends managed to enter the catacombs below Karazhan to have a look at the famous "Upside down sinners". While in there we stumbled upon a guy who had been stuck with that character down there for 2 days with a deleted hearthstone. The poor guy did not know about the unstuck character feature and was reliefed to get out once we told him. I remember laughing alot when he bursted out "Thank god. I was afraid of making a ticket if they were going to ban me for coming down here".Perhaps we were never supposed to go down there in the first place but it´s always fun with some urban exploration WoW style.

I'm super psyched about Fire Mages this expansion. I've been playing my mage since Cataclysm and gone through my ups and downs with him, but to say the least, I am so excited to finally wield Fel'melorn. Also excited for the changes to WW Monk, my alt. The mastery for it makes it seem really dynamic and flavorful. Really hoping to get that Beta Key to try out my two favorite classes and give some valued feedback

There's a lot of new content I'm looking forward to trying in Legion, mostly the Artifact and the Artifact system its entirely new to the game and it will be interesting to see how gameplay changes because of it. The prestige and wardrobe system also look very interesting

There are numerous features coming in Legion to be excited about. Personally, I am hyped for the new raids which look to carry on the quality seen in BRF and HFC. The lore nerd in me is eager for the flushed out class fantasy coming with the artifacts and class order halls. And as always I can't wait for whatever cinematics Blizzard has prepared for Legion

Being a raiding mage in a middle-progressed guild your site was pointed out to me quite early in the cata expansion - so I realize now that it must have been very soon after you launched - It's nice to see the original design I remembered preserved, as you linked in the main article, I distinctly remember it like that from the time when it had very few spec guides and focused quite a bit on mage info!  Five years on the site looks a lot better and has a lot more great content. Congratulations on the anniversary and the hard work.

I think one aspect of the wow community that is not often mentioned is how the various fan sites and in particular those like Icy Veins have a direct impact on the game and the community of WoW over time. Fan sites like these really highlight the way the old complex talent trees were actually used by the community and in particular raiders. While all the talent trees offered some variety through lots of choice, predominantly people tended to go to a "cookie cutter" build gleaned from a site like Icy veins. I recall at the time you saw very few people of the same spec that differed very much despite the variety on offer.

Nowadays the specs are simpler of course because I think Blizz felt there was little point in developing niche talents that only a tiny percentage of people in game used, so the talent tress themselves got pruned :( On the flip side of this Fan sites (and addons) have really helped Blizz for the most part push boss mechanics to a higher difficulty level.

For me personally, it will be most interesting in Legion to see how artifact weapons play out with the various Community sites (including sites offering advice, and those designed to optimize gear and talents etc) - The way I see artifact weapons from the outside is that they are a tool that can be used to push a spec towards a certain slant e.g. a fire mage may choose traits and relics that improve on all damage, or AoE, cleave or single target.

I really hope the added complexity of artifact weapons means that we finally get away from cookie cutter builds designated by a computer simulation and that the fan sites that offer some general advice on how to spec work best. Overall the lore and content around the artifact weapons and class halls will probably be the most intriguing theme of the expansion for me.

Overall I am so hyped for Legion - generally I hope it lives up to the expectations. Being a long-lifed Hunter I am quite excited that Surv becomes  melee and I would love to try it out in along with the other specs to see which artifact I should pursue. There is so many new additions to the game that sounds awesome. We are gonna get so much new lore and being a huge lore freak - I couldn't be happier.  Having played since late TBC and never been in the beta only heard about it from friends I would love to try it. Developers give me a HUGE Arthas in Ashran (or another place) that goes around wrecking everyone. ^^  I also hear that Murky gets his own questline where you get to play as him. Nothing more to say - Legion is already a success just due to that

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
