Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

First of all cheers for the giveaway, you have always been one of the best Blizzard related websites. What i am looking forward to in legion is the new lore and stories be it the everlooming threat of the legion, the vrykul and the titans or finally seeing the Emerald Nightmare. Seeing Blizzard fullfilling the class fantasies they have been working towards is truly great. I am also happy with the PVP changes making the game more dependant on skill instead of just gear.  The raiding will probably be great too considering we're going to the freaking Emerald Nightmare. All in all i think this will be one of the better Expansions so far. It would be awesome to explore it in the Beta

I've been playing on and off since Wrath. I'm very excited for the changes that they're making to my favorite specs, (Blood, and Brewmaster if you were curious) and I can't wait to see the demon hunters. I want to know where the story will go with the burning legion invasion, and the fact Illidan is alive.

I'm really looking forward to all of the class changes. I'm an altoholic so it will be so much fun to go through and learn all of my toons again. Artifact weapons are going to be super cool as well, but the best thing to come from legion is the removal of garrisons. It will be nice to hang out in the main towns and class halls again and not alone in my garrison

The specs look amazing this far, won't be able to resist creating a Shadow Priest, Demonology Warlock and a Retribution Paladin. I think Blizzard is finally giving the classes (and specs) some character which I absolutely love. The zones looks amazing, I love the art style and it reminds me a bit of Wrath.Mounts look cool, artifact weapons look sick and the dungeons this far are awesome.I don't care what anyone says, Legion seems to be the expansion for me this far. Been playing since early Wrath and this is the first time I'm really truly 100% glad to see what they're doing with the game.

I'm looking forward to the artifact questlines (i want to play all of them) cause they introduce a bunch of new stories to the universe of wow. It is one of the biggest stories ever made in games and wow is more for me than only playing a mmorpg. It's a fantastic universe without borders.

When it comes to my memorablest moment in wow, its probably the implementation of Kharazan and all questlines connected to it. I raided Vanilla too, but for me, Kharazan is the first step into organized, modern raiding environment.

I've played a DK Since WotLK, and being restricted by runes has always been a pet peeve. Since DK's now only have death runes, the possibilities for combos are endless! That is definitely the thing I'm most looking forward to. My fondest memory of WoW was when my guild finally downed Heroic Lich King as a Frost DK :)

I'm looking forward to see how Artifacts play out and if they're an improvement in the grand scheme of things. I'm also excited to experience the new gearing mechanics, where secondary stats will start higher on lower gear and not scale up as much as primary stats will as ilvl increases. Having crappy secondary stats at the start of the expansion is always a turn-off for me, I love how inflated they get by the end of an expansion and hope that Legion falls somewhere nicely in the middle

16593-icy-veins-5-years-anniversary-200-

Grab your chance to win a Legion beta key!

Icy Veins is turning 5 today and we wanted to celebrate it in the best way possible! We're giving all of you the chance to win a key for the upcoming beta of World of Warcraft: Legion!

As 2011 approached, two young gentlemen were sat discussing ideas for a World of Warcraft website. Ideas were passed back and forth, drafts were drawn up and the first edition of the Icy Veins website was released on the 21st of March, 2011. With a total of 3 guides for specialisations, 2 of which were Mage guides, and 1 raid encounter guide, Icy Veins was beginning its long journey.

5 years later and here we are! With a brand new design just released and with more changes planned in the near future, Icy Veins has not only grown, but matured under the watchful eyes of its founders, Damien and Vlad. With their tireless work ethic and their dedication to the site, we've seen Icy Veins expand from a small World of Warcraft guide-hub into a Blizzard-wide gaming community.

I feel like the word community is worth focusing on, since that's the general theme of today's post. With a growing membership on the forums and an increasing viewer-base on our news posts, Icy Veins has grown into a family. Without the users that visit the site each day, Icy Veins could never have become what it is today. Readers allow our team to do what we love: creating content for all of you.

For everything that you have done for us, we thought today would be a perfect day to do something for you.

Legion Beta Key Giveaway

As many of you know, World of Warcraft is releasing its new expansion this year: Legion. The expansion is overhauling a huge number of aspects within the game, as well as introducing a number of new parts into the game.

Many of you won't have been able to experience all of the new content that is being released, so we wanted to help. With the aid of Blizzard, we're giving away 200 keys to the upcoming beta; 100 of the keys will be given out this week, 100 in another giveaway next week. It's a pretty simple giveaway, you'll just need to post an appropriate comment on this post before the 29th of March to enter!

So what is an appropriate comment? We love hearing back from our readers and we love discussions, so why not mix the two and put together a giveaway! We want to know all about your opinions on Legion, as well as WoW itself. Let us know in the comments what you're most looking forward to, as well as your fondest memories in Warcraft history! Whether it's a guild moment, a personal moment or a moment in the game's story itself, we want to hear it.

Rules

As with all of our giveaways, there are some rules:

  1. Every comment must be relevant to this article, giving examples of what you look forward to in Legion and what you enjoyed in the past.
  2. The first giveaway will end on the 29th of March at 23:59 GMT.
  3. Only one comment will be counted per person.
  4. Comments on the linked articles will also be included in the draw if they are relevant to the topics.
  5. Commenting on multiple topics will not increase your chances of winning.
  6. The winner will be drawn randomly from all the comments that are deemed "acceptable".
  7. It is at our discretion which comments will be deemed acceptable, based on the extent to which they stay relevant to this article.
  8. We will not release the dates on which the keys will be released, as Blizzard have requested us not to do so.
  9. We do not know when the Beta will start, so please do not analyse our article hoping to find that. It's not there.
  10. The comments section will be checked via a bot used in previous giveaways, so multiple comments will be found.
  11. We have tools to detect cheating, so please don't bother.
  12. We reserve the right to stop anyone competing if we believe they are cheating.

Legion Information

If you're struggling for inspiration or you haven't been able to explore some of the information being released from the Alpha, we've made sure to give you a few pointers below:

Players will be equipped with the mightiest weapons of Azeroth, the artifact weapons, each tied to our classes with a unique link in lore. If you're looking to find some additional information on the lore behind your weapons, as well as some of the alternatives, you can always check out the artifact series we featured!

If the artifacts aren't quite tantalising enough, there's always the swathe of new dungeons being introduced with the expansion, such as the Arcway.

Still not excited? You must be a PvPer then! Worry not, there's a sparkling new prestige system being introduced, as well as a number of changes to the way PvP will work from now on.

Still? You're a tough one to please. Maybe you prefer a more pacifist route through Azeroth? You'll be able to enjoy more costumes and outfits than ever before with the new transmogrification and wardrobe systems

You can also check out the interviews I had with Venruki, Treckie and Tegu in our "Will Legion Save WoW?" article. You'll get perspectives on changes from some of the best players in the world in both PvP and PvE!

Before you enter, make sure that your computer is up to scratch for the Legion client by checking the system requirements.

While I'm not entering, I'll never miss out on a chance to take part in the fun! Personally, my favourite part in Legion so far and what I am looking forward to most is the lore surrounding certain characters. I don't want to put spoilers into this post, but you can check out the fate of some of them in our spoilers posts (Part 2). As a favourite moment of WoW, it would have to be the moment I first saw C'thun. The constant taunting as you approach, his appearance, it was just amazing. That for me is the peak of nostalgic feeling towards this game.

That's it from me. Good luck to you all and I can't wait to read your replies!

I am a 11 years wow player, have been experienced the happiness and difficulties with wow together, and love it very much, never insist to play a game for so long time. Really can not wait for the new legion, hope it will be more interesting and increase the difficulty on killing boss, so I think most of players will want to challenge it.

The second, hope blizzard can shorten the new patch coming, and last few more years to let us play, lol.

The last, hope Icy Veins could update the wow news for us all the time, love you. :):):)

Hi guys, I do not know if I deserve a beta key on the legion, let it decide the administration of this site.

I want to see what's new, we have prepared Blizzard as been changed classes, quests, new locations, and a bunch of all, It is a living, but not screen monitor other players. In this and built the impression of the game, when you yourself can appreciate it.

I wish you all good luck.

I'm looking forward to try out the new class. Also I want to see what kind of awesome artifact will the hunters get, since that's my main class. And I'm pretty interested in how is the lore going to change and evolve on this new expansion . The main one is how it is able to shorten the distance between me and my long distance boyfriend, by doing pvp or just hanging out and enjoying the scenary (like a date xD). And the second one is the awesome friends we made on our old guild. Even if it was years ago, we still talk to each other and are so close thanks to wow

Hands down my favorite thing about this upcoming XPack had to be the transmog system! 3/4s of my bags currently are full of bits of transmog..I have a real problem! I love every little bit and part and having them all in one place not taking up bag space will be the absolute best!

Another very exciting thing I can't wait for is the Tomb of Sargeras! I am a complete lore nerd and I hope my jimmys won't be rustled this XPack lore wise

Ever since the switch to the current version of the talent system I personally have missed the older system with 1 point to spend every level. As a result I'm pretty excited for the artifact weapons as I feel like the braching talent tree of sorts will replace what I miss from past systems.I'm also stoked for the new animations, particularly on Fury warrior, I normally run Arms but that rampage animation is so stellar

I cant wait for legion to come out. Seeing as I only started playing during MOP, I have found that Warlords of Draenor was a huge let down in comparison. Seeing legion with both demon hunters and artifact weapons has really excited me. Looking at all the new changes and new spells coming in is; in my opinion, one of the best things about legion. I will definitely be playing a retribution paladin as I currently main one now and they look to be getting even better in legion. ALSO ASHBRINGER!!! Seeing as it's my favourite lore weapon I see it fitting that I plan to main a retribution paladin this expansion. It must be destiny.

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
