Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

I can't wait to try out all the new specs Blizzard has 'come up with'. From the countless Alpha videos I watched, it pretty much seems that every class has been completely reworked.

I'd like to try every aspect of Legion: From PvP and Dungeons, to exploring the Lore!

I hope I can do it before September =P

I want to see all the changes made to honor system and the game itself. I hope that legion will be better than WOD and there will be more content.

The best moments in the past for me where probably during The Burning Crusade. At that time WoW was getting very popular in my country and as more and more people started playing, it either empowered the bonds with my friends or made new bonds for me. Internet cafes were also quite popular at that moment and there was a special feeling when u enter one of those and it's crowded with people and everybody is playing WoW. We were all really getting into it, shared happy and sad moments together, everything because of WoW. Most of us have now parted ways which is sad, but I value every moment we spent playing this amazing game. It was a journey I will never forget.

The game has really improved during the years and the thing that I'm looking forward in legion the most is, ridiculously, the wardrobe because all my void storage and banks are full of transmog gear xD

i am actually looking forward to use artifact weapons and the lore so many things happening and the new pvp system of course would be fun to try

as for WoW as a game i have benn playing WoW since Bruning crusade best game i have ever played what more can u ask open world quest social and raids

so i think legion would be great

my best moment in the game actually was when i killed The Lich King for the first time in WOLTK since the lich king was one of the best villians in world of warcraft and i have been trying so hard to kill him then when we killed him we were barely 3 people alive and we thought we are gone but we had him in the end

So I started playing in TBC and I've always loved this game, the thing I'm most excited for are the new raids and dungeons because you know "raid or die". I am also looking forward to doing all of the artifact quests. Thanks.

Well, what can I say. World of Warcraft is huge part of my life, aswell as all other Blizzard games. I've got all of them, I've been working so hard to get best possible editions. After all these years WoW is still here with me! Even when my friends, or family are gone I still have Azeroth, and whole bunch of friends from guild in there! World of Warcraft has always been the place I've been running to, to feel safe, feel needed, and even loved. Really that is the best game I've ever played and I still will, even if I would be the last man on last server! I am really excitied and I already pre-ordered Legion, but I never had a chance to participate in Legion Beta or Alpha, I'd love to check what Blizzard have prepared for us! (Illidan said that I am not prepared! - BUT I AM!)

Even if I won't get that BETA key, still... Thank you Blizzard for making my life so awesome, and for helping me with choosing my role in this everyday Raid.

Farewell my fellow WoW friends!

One cannot go into "WoW" and simply not wish for a Demon Hunter!

Everyday since the 1st one, 10 or 11 years ago, i wished/hoped for a Demon Hunter... and now its so close i can taste it in the air.

Hope that the class is as i hope it will be for so long... have high expectations but i believe in Blizzard.

Best regards to Icy Veins, for being the personal WoW backup, for so many,
Tiago "Føx" Baptista

With Legion coming on the horizon i really hope things will change in WoW and become interesting again. Changes for all the classes that were announced, the new artifact system might do this job.

At the end i hope that the wait will be worthwhile and Legion will really resurrect WoW, at least for me.

I'm most looking forward to the lore associated with the new continent , new class and all the artifacts. WoD was a bit of a bust for great lore, so a huge lore expansion with elements from Warcraft 3 sounds amazing. My favorite moment in WoW was hitting 100 for the first time as a noob - such a proud moment for some reason.

16593-icy-veins-5-years-anniversary-200-

Grab your chance to win a Legion beta key!

Icy Veins is turning 5 today and we wanted to celebrate it in the best way possible! We're giving all of you the chance to win a key for the upcoming beta of World of Warcraft: Legion!

As 2011 approached, two young gentlemen were sat discussing ideas for a World of Warcraft website. Ideas were passed back and forth, drafts were drawn up and the first edition of the Icy Veins website was released on the 21st of March, 2011. With a total of 3 guides for specialisations, 2 of which were Mage guides, and 1 raid encounter guide, Icy Veins was beginning its long journey.

5 years later and here we are! With a brand new design just released and with more changes planned in the near future, Icy Veins has not only grown, but matured under the watchful eyes of its founders, Damien and Vlad. With their tireless work ethic and their dedication to the site, we've seen Icy Veins expand from a small World of Warcraft guide-hub into a Blizzard-wide gaming community.

I feel like the word community is worth focusing on, since that's the general theme of today's post. With a growing membership on the forums and an increasing viewer-base on our news posts, Icy Veins has grown into a family. Without the users that visit the site each day, Icy Veins could never have become what it is today. Readers allow our team to do what we love: creating content for all of you.

For everything that you have done for us, we thought today would be a perfect day to do something for you.

Legion Beta Key Giveaway

As many of you know, World of Warcraft is releasing its new expansion this year: Legion. The expansion is overhauling a huge number of aspects within the game, as well as introducing a number of new parts into the game.

Many of you won't have been able to experience all of the new content that is being released, so we wanted to help. With the aid of Blizzard, we're giving away 200 keys to the upcoming beta; 100 of the keys will be given out this week, 100 in another giveaway next week. It's a pretty simple giveaway, you'll just need to post an appropriate comment on this post before the 29th of March to enter!

So what is an appropriate comment? We love hearing back from our readers and we love discussions, so why not mix the two and put together a giveaway! We want to know all about your opinions on Legion, as well as WoW itself. Let us know in the comments what you're most looking forward to, as well as your fondest memories in Warcraft history! Whether it's a guild moment, a personal moment or a moment in the game's story itself, we want to hear it.

Rules

As with all of our giveaways, there are some rules:

  1. Every comment must be relevant to this article, giving examples of what you look forward to in Legion and what you enjoyed in the past.
  2. The first giveaway will end on the 29th of March at 23:59 GMT.
  3. Only one comment will be counted per person.
  4. Comments on the linked articles will also be included in the draw if they are relevant to the topics.
  5. Commenting on multiple topics will not increase your chances of winning.
  6. The winner will be drawn randomly from all the comments that are deemed "acceptable".
  7. It is at our discretion which comments will be deemed acceptable, based on the extent to which they stay relevant to this article.
  8. We will not release the dates on which the keys will be released, as Blizzard have requested us not to do so.
  9. We do not know when the Beta will start, so please do not analyse our article hoping to find that. It's not there.
  10. The comments section will be checked via a bot used in previous giveaways, so multiple comments will be found.
  11. We have tools to detect cheating, so please don't bother.
  12. We reserve the right to stop anyone competing if we believe they are cheating.

Legion Information

If you're struggling for inspiration or you haven't been able to explore some of the information being released from the Alpha, we've made sure to give you a few pointers below:

Players will be equipped with the mightiest weapons of Azeroth, the artifact weapons, each tied to our classes with a unique link in lore. If you're looking to find some additional information on the lore behind your weapons, as well as some of the alternatives, you can always check out the artifact series we featured!

If the artifacts aren't quite tantalising enough, there's always the swathe of new dungeons being introduced with the expansion, such as the Arcway.

Still not excited? You must be a PvPer then! Worry not, there's a sparkling new prestige system being introduced, as well as a number of changes to the way PvP will work from now on.

Still? You're a tough one to please. Maybe you prefer a more pacifist route through Azeroth? You'll be able to enjoy more costumes and outfits than ever before with the new transmogrification and wardrobe systems

You can also check out the interviews I had with Venruki, Treckie and Tegu in our "Will Legion Save WoW?" article. You'll get perspectives on changes from some of the best players in the world in both PvP and PvE!

Before you enter, make sure that your computer is up to scratch for the Legion client by checking the system requirements.

While I'm not entering, I'll never miss out on a chance to take part in the fun! Personally, my favourite part in Legion so far and what I am looking forward to most is the lore surrounding certain characters. I don't want to put spoilers into this post, but you can check out the fate of some of them in our spoilers posts (Part 2). As a favourite moment of WoW, it would have to be the moment I first saw C'thun. The constant taunting as you approach, his appearance, it was just amazing. That for me is the peak of nostalgic feeling towards this game.

That's it from me. Good luck to you all and I can't wait to read your replies!

I can't wait to play melee Hunter again! :D

Personally I am looking forward to all the little things. New battle animations, new transom system, updates to the engine, ability pruning, that sort of stuff. Things like those keystones for challenges in dungeons. The compound of those things will affect the game in ways that most don't realise.

The big stuff (new continent, artifact weapons, demon hunter, etc.) is really cool too, obviously. So much hype!

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
