Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

16593-icy-veins-5-years-anniversary-200-

Grab your chance to win a Legion beta key!

Icy Veins is turning 5 today and we wanted to celebrate it in the best way possible! We're giving all of you the chance to win a key for the upcoming beta of World of Warcraft: Legion!

As 2011 approached, two young gentlemen were sat discussing ideas for a World of Warcraft website. Ideas were passed back and forth, drafts were drawn up and the first edition of the Icy Veins website was released on the 21st of March, 2011. With a total of 3 guides for specialisations, 2 of which were Mage guides, and 1 raid encounter guide, Icy Veins was beginning its long journey.

5 years later and here we are! With a brand new design just released and with more changes planned in the near future, Icy Veins has not only grown, but matured under the watchful eyes of its founders, Damien and Vlad. With their tireless work ethic and their dedication to the site, we've seen Icy Veins expand from a small World of Warcraft guide-hub into a Blizzard-wide gaming community.

I feel like the word community is worth focusing on, since that's the general theme of today's post. With a growing membership on the forums and an increasing viewer-base on our news posts, Icy Veins has grown into a family. Without the users that visit the site each day, Icy Veins could never have become what it is today. Readers allow our team to do what we love: creating content for all of you.

For everything that you have done for us, we thought today would be a perfect day to do something for you.

Legion Beta Key Giveaway

As many of you know, World of Warcraft is releasing its new expansion this year: Legion. The expansion is overhauling a huge number of aspects within the game, as well as introducing a number of new parts into the game.

Many of you won't have been able to experience all of the new content that is being released, so we wanted to help. With the aid of Blizzard, we're giving away 200 keys to the upcoming beta; 100 of the keys will be given out this week, 100 in another giveaway next week. It's a pretty simple giveaway, you'll just need to post an appropriate comment on this post before the 29th of March to enter!

So what is an appropriate comment? We love hearing back from our readers and we love discussions, so why not mix the two and put together a giveaway! We want to know all about your opinions on Legion, as well as WoW itself. Let us know in the comments what you're most looking forward to, as well as your fondest memories in Warcraft history! Whether it's a guild moment, a personal moment or a moment in the game's story itself, we want to hear it.

Rules

As with all of our giveaways, there are some rules:

  1. Every comment must be relevant to this article, giving examples of what you look forward to in Legion and what you enjoyed in the past.
  2. The first giveaway will end on the 29th of March at 23:59 GMT.
  3. Only one comment will be counted per person.
  4. Comments on the linked articles will also be included in the draw if they are relevant to the topics.
  5. Commenting on multiple topics will not increase your chances of winning.
  6. The winner will be drawn randomly from all the comments that are deemed "acceptable".
  7. It is at our discretion which comments will be deemed acceptable, based on the extent to which they stay relevant to this article.
  8. We will not release the dates on which the keys will be released, as Blizzard have requested us not to do so.
  9. We do not know when the Beta will start, so please do not analyse our article hoping to find that. It's not there.
  10. The comments section will be checked via a bot used in previous giveaways, so multiple comments will be found.
  11. We have tools to detect cheating, so please don't bother.
  12. We reserve the right to stop anyone competing if we believe they are cheating.

Legion Information

If you're struggling for inspiration or you haven't been able to explore some of the information being released from the Alpha, we've made sure to give you a few pointers below:

Players will be equipped with the mightiest weapons of Azeroth, the artifact weapons, each tied to our classes with a unique link in lore. If you're looking to find some additional information on the lore behind your weapons, as well as some of the alternatives, you can always check out the artifact series we featured!

If the artifacts aren't quite tantalising enough, there's always the swathe of new dungeons being introduced with the expansion, such as the Arcway.

Still not excited? You must be a PvPer then! Worry not, there's a sparkling new prestige system being introduced, as well as a number of changes to the way PvP will work from now on.

Still? You're a tough one to please. Maybe you prefer a more pacifist route through Azeroth? You'll be able to enjoy more costumes and outfits than ever before with the new transmogrification and wardrobe systems

You can also check out the interviews I had with Venruki, Treckie and Tegu in our "Will Legion Save WoW?" article. You'll get perspectives on changes from some of the best players in the world in both PvP and PvE!

Before you enter, make sure that your computer is up to scratch for the Legion client by checking the system requirements.

While I'm not entering, I'll never miss out on a chance to take part in the fun! Personally, my favourite part in Legion so far and what I am looking forward to most is the lore surrounding certain characters. I don't want to put spoilers into this post, but you can check out the fate of some of them in our spoilers posts (Part 2). As a favourite moment of WoW, it would have to be the moment I first saw C'thun. The constant taunting as you approach, his appearance, it was just amazing. That for me is the peak of nostalgic feeling towards this game.

That's it from me. Good luck to you all and I can't wait to read your replies!

Yo.been playing since lich king cassually and really hardcore for the past year and a half since i really have the time to be dedicated...legion will be for me  dream come true...Im so hyped for this expansion because it will give me the chance to play the game that i love so much... in an environment similar to TBC the so called golden age of wow from so many of my friends...i know that the game is not going to be similar to tbc in many of its aspects a lot of people might also be annoyed from the emotional breakdown im experiencing while im writing down this post...but if we put my tryhard post asside for one moment...I would love so much to get access to beta this time around i have so much available time to play it and also provide feedback considering the fact that so many new features are being implemented such as the artifact weps and the prestige system...I really want to be able to decide what character i should focus on and progress empowering my artifact weapon since i currently have druid, warrior, paladin and shaman active in all specs and sizes! Can't wait to see my launcher colored with the colors of legion and log on...anyway enough tryhard-ing for me i guess...good luck to everybody! P.s im interested to see how the pvp is going to be affected with the ability removals and pvp talents...big risk for blizzard there i guess, new arena maps are awsome....the hype is real...feel it boys..

With all the talk of the new pvp system and the big "prune" coming in i find it necessary to say that i am for the prune/overhaul of changing the way pvp is played. The truth is that in the current state of WoW pvp noone really cares, noone bothers to play very much, and new players trying to compete at higher levels get destroyed. What i am looking forward to the most in legion is seeing all the new people that decide to pick up the game and give it a try, i'm excited to meet new people that are brand new to the game, and learn the new expansion along with them. From personal experience of friends telling me that, "WoW is to difficult", or "I couldnt learn a game and compete against people that have been playing 10 years". I am really hoping that legion turns not casual friendly, but new player friendly, not as terrifying as it seems to many. The new pvp system is a much needed overhaul and will be one of my favorite features in the new expansion...... oh yea, and the wardrobe system, I CAN FINALLY HAVE ROOM IN MY BAGS! laugh.png

I absolutely love everything about Legion! i've been keeping up to date with all the news about legion and been watching alot of Alpha vids about Class specs and class halls. But what i'm looking most forward to is the Artifact weapon! Can't wait to level my Ashbringer ^^

I actually started playing wow just before BC, at first i was like mehh but than BC hit. I was so stoked because i thought Illidan looked so badass! Back then i didn't know alot about gaming because i was only 12 years old. But it was actually the best time i ever had! It was only till Wrath that i actually got to know the game better and i started reading up on all the lore WoW could offer. and i tell you now, I haven't ever seen such a beautiful game like WoW. Arthas's lore, Illidan's lore.. just wow! I will never stop playing wow! And now for legion i will get to see the badass Illidan again!

Let's hope legion will be out soon!

I am looking forward to demon hunters, mostly since they are a new class, and I am definitely excited about the enhancement shaman rework, it looks SUPER fun.  All the class reworks look good too.  I truly believe that this could be a turnaround for WoW.

I would very much enjoy getting an early preview of the changes, but more so, I would like the opportunity to push the current release to the edge and hopefully gain quality errors and bugs so that when it is released that this expansion will operate better than an previous versions.  I am retired and have many hours to dedicate to playing the Beta and would give it all the time it deserves when one is given the honor of seeing the game prior to the masses.

I hope I can win a Key, but if I do not, I truly hope that the people that do play on the Beta as much as they can to pressure the gaming and server to help the developers release a expansion worthy of WOW's history.

I have a big expectation for Legion on many points:
First, the new mechanics for the classes and specially the new rogue specialization Outlaw (my main is a rogue so that why ;))

Second, the story, even if the story is sometimes not good compared to the book, the game provides the core of the story.

Eventually the demon hunter, I will reroll for one, but maybe not before many months.

And finally, the new content =D

Everything about legion so far is attractive and I hope that this expansion will be better than WoD for everything outside raiding.

After reading all of the news about Legion, I think I am most excited to get back to playing my Paladin. In WOD I leveled a new Deathknight and decided to stick with him as my main. I can't wait to get back on my Paladin and look at all of the new talents, spells, and new dungeons to heal! I can't wait!

I'm very much looking forward to seeing how all the class/spec revamps are going to work out. I've already settled on mage as my main character but I still need to decide what alt to play. Raiding has always been my main focus in wow and it'll be just that in Legion as well, therefore I am super excited about the new raids and finding out what class does the most dps. I'm generally super hyped for Legion and all it's changes and I'm looking forward to starting an expansion knowing what my main is and knowing that I'll be raiding with a great mythic team!

What im looking forward too? All the class and talent changes. I feel Legion will be a big step forward to something new and fresh. Artifact are a great idea and i cant wait to try out triple spec and maybe even play all specs in future mythic raiding! I got almost a lvl 100 of every class ready and i would love to see diffrent specs in beta and try them out before Legion!

My best memory off wow is probably a bit sappy but its auctally most of Wotlk. This is because i joined a guild where i met this guy who i became friends with on wow. we did alot of great stuff and raiding together in this guild we joined but that was it. At start of cataclysm i quit wow for abit and we would rarly communicate aside from the "happy birthday" comments on facebook and such. On Dragon Soul release he told me to come back to wow. Even tho it was on the worst raids in wow for me, it was also my best moment as from that point we fell in love! Flash forward we soon been dating for 4 years and living together for 3 now after migrating to Denmark.

So i dont know if this count, but meeting the love of my life has to be the best moment of wow! :)

What i am really excited for in legion is the artifact quest-lines and the new leveling system. A certain quest-line has sparked my inner lore ego, and i am suuuupper excited to experience it first-hand. Second of all, the new leveling system, to which the zones now scale to your current level is awesome, and will definitely keep the world more interesting even at higher levels. All the zones look gorgeous, the graphics in legion are stunning, i have watched all of for example Nobbel's play-through of each zone and the story in all the zones sound fantastically designed!! I check all wow fan-sites every day for updates, read every detail, im just so excited.

Cant wait!! :D

I am a big lore nerd, and one of the most interesting things for me in Legion is the Emerald Dream. I always felt unsatisfied with the way it had seemingly been dropped off the face of the planet and barely mentioned after vanilla, and I'm really glad that they're finally revisiting it and hopefully wrapping things up.

I'm mainly looking forward to the Artifacts and the skins to go along with them. Also looking forward to new dungeons, as from what I've seen in screenshots they look gorgeous! Hoping all goes well, I just really want to get a feel of how at least the beginning of Legion is going to play out storywise and as far as gameplay.

Okay I'll start with my current opinion on wow, i disliked wod because of The lack of content on level 100, and The giant hole in the lore created by time travel and finally The really similar specs And classes. I am really hyped for legion because of The specs diversity (i LOVE The new demonology) And The level of customization that this exp will bring (2 different talent tree in pve And 3 in pvp) , And also because of The massive lore that Legion Can have, also i like The new pvp system that could (finally / maybe) balance The pvp And pve. Sry for bad English But i'm italian & on The Phone. Good Job blizz And icy veins for articles!

I'm so excited for this addon after I left out the last ones. Cant wait to taim me a druid bear as my new Hunter pet. I always loved collecting flowers and shrooms and sell them with high profit on the AH. I will get into this again and become the richest person on my server.

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
