Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

As the former curator of the Warrior FAQ on Elitist Jerks, I'd like to thank Vlad and Archimitros for maintaining the Fury DPS guide here, and the rest of Icy-Veins' contributors for maintaining their guides. I refer to them often when playing alts.

What most excites me about Legion are the Demon Hunters. I didn't really come into my own as a WoW player until TBC, and while I was a casual and a scrub back then the Warglaives of Azzinoth were something I coveted and desired. My guild never came remotely close to finishing Tier 5, let alone entering the Black Temple, but I always dreamed of playing a Demon Hunter.

By the time transmogrification came about I'd already quit, but I imagine I'd have quickly found the nearest glaive model and transmog'd them.

I don't know if I'll take to the class mechanics after having been a Fury Warrior for the better part of a decade, but having been an Illidan fanboy since WarCraft 3,, I can't wait to find out.

I signed up for the website just to post here because I want an alpha key soooo bad! I've been dying to play Legion early so I can try and decide what class I will want to play first. Everything about Legion is going to be awesome, it's everything I've always been wanting: Up to 4 specs, equal pvp (no pvp gear), more skill pruning, awesome transmog options.

As soon as I heard about Icy Veins in guild chat, I started coming here all the time to check on the best rotation and talent setup for w/e class I'm playing. It's great! Super happy that I found this post, hoping to win a key!

I'm really looking forward to Legion. I've played WoW for almost 9 years now, and although i'm still playing, i don't feel that hyped about the game in it's current state.I'm basically only logging in to play on my raid days. I hope Legion will be the expansion that'll bring WoW back to it's previous state.

I am looking forward to the Pvp talent system and completing all of the artifact quest lines across all my alts.

My best moment in WoW was when I joined my current guild.  My GM whispered me when I was guildless and now they are all extremely close friends.

I honestly cannot wait for the new legendary weapons! I love the lore behind them and one of my favorite things from the past was how my dad and i would level together, fun times.

Looking forward to the legion expansion and have great hopes it will be a good one

I am excited about the big shake ups in the class talents, combat animations and new re-skins.

I like the idea of wielding a specific artifact legendary to suit a class fantasy for the role you want to play

which Im sure will make the game more immersive.

I am also glad that we are facing off against the burning legion again, sure it will bring back some nostalgia from the good old days playing through demon heavy content like the burning crusade.

I'm excited about it all! I skipped MOP and most of WoD. Legion seems like PVP will be more accessible and fun. And artifacts! Yup, pretty excited.

Looking forward to the new artifact weapons, also the new class, the Demon Hunter to play with my wife.:) The best memories I have from the last 10 years I played with this game, is the people I met within the guilds I was in.

Well, let's not lie, I think most of us are just looking forward to WoD ending!

Really I'm just looking forward to something new, and hopefully better. New content, all that. The new transmog system too, of course! I'm also looking forward to trying out a Demon Hunter once I have my main maxed and geared. Which brings me to the new PvP system, the prestige system... really looking forward to this. I think Legion could be great, and bring Blizzard back from WoD.

As for what I enjoyed in the past... I started in Wrath, and I was so bad! I didn't even get to raid, but, I enjoyed the leveling, getting the hang of the game. Trying to figure out what class I enjoyed most, even though I most likely sucked at them all back then.

Really looking forward to arenas in legion. With all the new changes to each spec and PVP talents it's going to be really fun mastering each class and trying out different comps. PVP has always been one of my greatest memories in wow. I remember those crazy long AV battles. Really hyped for legion!

I look forward to the 5man challenge mode changes the most in Legion. It will for sure create a whole new progression path for the game and if I get into the beta I'm gonna study the hell out of the dungeons. Also of course finally getting to see the Emerald Nightmare as a raid. It all looks too good. Being able to fight the emerald nightmare dragons again all of which are world bosses in vanilla really gets me pumped up.

Story wise this expansion also looks very promising. I've heard multiple important characters go through big transformations so I can't wait to see what happens.

I've played wow since it first started in 2004. My favorite experiences for sure would be killing Kael'thas in the Tempest keep raid before attunements where nerfed as well as completing the instances Ulduar and Throne of Thunder.

That being said nothing tops the experience of being on a ventrillo chat with 25 other people laughing their asses off while killing bosses. This is the reason I still play wow.

Cheers Icy Veins, thanks for the contest biggrin.png

I'm looking forward to seeing the changes to the demonology spec in legion. I remember leveling back in vanilla/TBC wanting to be able to summon the higher level demons (at that time) like the Doomguard... its too bad summoning them doesn't require group mate sacrifices anymore!

For sure the thing I'm looking forward to in Legion is the revamped PvP system with prestige. I have been playing Arena and BG's constantly since late vanilla into BC and I feel more excited for the changes this X-pac than any others. I really feel like the prestige system might also help people be less apathetic about trying to win BG's and could create more competition. I know a lot of people grind BG's for honor, but with this new system that's a lot less relevant and now it will hopefully be about performing and winning to be able to prove you're the best.

I'd for sure say that my favorite memory is when I was a (just switched from ret) Belf Holy Paladin in BC and me, my brother who is a hunter, and my friend who is a mage all went to Westfall to raid Sentinel Hill. At first we were just killing NPC's but a Warrior shows up and me and the mage kite him up to the top of the tower (in the process I use bubble so I can run and not have to stop and heal) and I tell my mage friend "this will be easy I can just heal us and he's alone!" and as I was saying that my mage friend pops Slowfall and jumps off the tower saying  "CYA MATE". It was both the most genius and horrible thing I've had happen to me in open world PvP.

The Night elf architecture really has me excited. Seeing the militaristic Black Rook Hold, the druidic settlements of Val'sharah, and the city of Suramar is just awesome. Blizzard has always had a great art style but this expansion seems to knock it out of the park so far.

Oh and all that amazing lore behind the artifacts.

The thing that I am most excited for in legion is easily what has been spoiled for the death-knight class hall quests. The thought of bringing back the Four Horseman has me enthused to continue with this class :D

I'm SUPER excited for Legion mostly due to the fact that Illidan is going to reappear. He's been my favourite lore character since Warcraft III and there has been talks of him making a return for a while now.

Not only is Illidan making a return but we're going to get to play as Demon Hunters ourselves. When the original announcement for Legion was happening me and my friends were all sitting on skype together, mics muted so we didn't disturb the announcement. As soon as the Demon Hunter class announcement happened we unmuted and were screeching almost with excitement.

And even if Demon Hunters don't turn out to be as good as I'm hoping that they'll be, Enhancement Shamans get, In my opinion, the coolest artifact in the form of Doomhammer.

Can Legion just some out already please.....

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
