Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

I'm most excited about the demon hunter class finially being made available to play and my most exciting moment in wow history was downing mythic garrosh in SoO before the raid was changed from heroic to mythic.

I'm fairly excited for the Legion release, but at the same time I don't want legion to come. I don't like some of what blizzard is doing for the class changes but I am still extremely happy for most of the changes coming. The demo warlock change is something that I am pretty hyped about as well as some of the mounts that have been shown. Artifact weapons are going to be pretty impressive but I want to be able to gain the weapon at a lower level so that you get some more story and character development and above all I'm super excited about figuring out the pvp system.

I am looking forward to air because of the many innovations (mostly because of PvP honor system), but the weapons arttifact not seem a bad idea . On the other hand, it is interested in the lore that Illidan and Gul'dan that will continue the events of the WoD.

I'm looking forward to the new artifact weapon system, it's probably my favorite feature so far. My favorite part of the past is the guild I joined back in BC that I still raid with today. Made some great friends that have turned in to RL friends!

I'm really exited for the new Add On and for the new Lore that will be in it. I love the idea bringing Illidan back and i will love to kick the asses of Kil'Jaeden and Sargeras. I'm a lore fanatic and i want to know so badly how all of story unfolds in Legion. I also would love to see how my warrior plays in Legion and how the new dungeons are. Also I would like to give feedback to blizzard, so that they can provide a better game .I am very exited about Legions artifact weapon system and would love to try it. I startet WoW in February 2005, and i love the game especially raiding. I am raidleader since 2007 and guild lead of my guild 'Purity of Soul' since 2009. I would appreciate if i get an beta invite, so i can give first hand information to my friends in the guild. I watch everyday in my battlenet account and hope there is an invite for the beta

Really like what i'ver seen from the alpha so far! Still a little bit worried about the new follower system though since some screenshots suggest that it is still pretty similar to the follower system in WoD.

Really curious how this will all play out and if it will be mandatory to use this in the storyline as it was in WoD.(Garrison level 3 required for shipyard, shipyard required for Tanaan).

I am really exited for the demon hunters for 2 reasons. One because night elf is my favorite race and two because I have been looking for a mobile high dps melee class and this 8s the ultimate one.

I'm looking forward to all the different changes coming to Shamans and the PVP honor system.

Overall I think Legion is going to be a great expansion and I can't wait to try it out.

I CANNOT wait for Demon Hunters!  #DHHype

My former guild mates and I still reminisce about Wrath and ICC.  A lot of us are still friends even after our guild disbanded.

16593-icy-veins-5-years-anniversary-200-

Grab your chance to win a Legion beta key!

Icy Veins is turning 5 today and we wanted to celebrate it in the best way possible! We're giving all of you the chance to win a key for the upcoming beta of World of Warcraft: Legion!

As 2011 approached, two young gentlemen were sat discussing ideas for a World of Warcraft website. Ideas were passed back and forth, drafts were drawn up and the first edition of the Icy Veins website was released on the 21st of March, 2011. With a total of 3 guides for specialisations, 2 of which were Mage guides, and 1 raid encounter guide, Icy Veins was beginning its long journey.

5 years later and here we are! With a brand new design just released and with more changes planned in the near future, Icy Veins has not only grown, but matured under the watchful eyes of its founders, Damien and Vlad. With their tireless work ethic and their dedication to the site, we've seen Icy Veins expand from a small World of Warcraft guide-hub into a Blizzard-wide gaming community.

I feel like the word community is worth focusing on, since that's the general theme of today's post. With a growing membership on the forums and an increasing viewer-base on our news posts, Icy Veins has grown into a family. Without the users that visit the site each day, Icy Veins could never have become what it is today. Readers allow our team to do what we love: creating content for all of you.

For everything that you have done for us, we thought today would be a perfect day to do something for you.

Legion Beta Key Giveaway

As many of you know, World of Warcraft is releasing its new expansion this year: Legion. The expansion is overhauling a huge number of aspects within the game, as well as introducing a number of new parts into the game.

Many of you won't have been able to experience all of the new content that is being released, so we wanted to help. With the aid of Blizzard, we're giving away 200 keys to the upcoming beta; 100 of the keys will be given out this week, 100 in another giveaway next week. It's a pretty simple giveaway, you'll just need to post an appropriate comment on this post before the 29th of March to enter!

So what is an appropriate comment? We love hearing back from our readers and we love discussions, so why not mix the two and put together a giveaway! We want to know all about your opinions on Legion, as well as WoW itself. Let us know in the comments what you're most looking forward to, as well as your fondest memories in Warcraft history! Whether it's a guild moment, a personal moment or a moment in the game's story itself, we want to hear it.

Rules

As with all of our giveaways, there are some rules:

  1. Every comment must be relevant to this article, giving examples of what you look forward to in Legion and what you enjoyed in the past.
  2. The first giveaway will end on the 29th of March at 23:59 GMT.
  3. Only one comment will be counted per person.
  4. Comments on the linked articles will also be included in the draw if they are relevant to the topics.
  5. Commenting on multiple topics will not increase your chances of winning.
  6. The winner will be drawn randomly from all the comments that are deemed "acceptable".
  7. It is at our discretion which comments will be deemed acceptable, based on the extent to which they stay relevant to this article.
  8. We will not release the dates on which the keys will be released, as Blizzard have requested us not to do so.
  9. We do not know when the Beta will start, so please do not analyse our article hoping to find that. It's not there.
  10. The comments section will be checked via a bot used in previous giveaways, so multiple comments will be found.
  11. We have tools to detect cheating, so please don't bother.
  12. We reserve the right to stop anyone competing if we believe they are cheating.

Legion Information

If you're struggling for inspiration or you haven't been able to explore some of the information being released from the Alpha, we've made sure to give you a few pointers below:

Players will be equipped with the mightiest weapons of Azeroth, the artifact weapons, each tied to our classes with a unique link in lore. If you're looking to find some additional information on the lore behind your weapons, as well as some of the alternatives, you can always check out the artifact series we featured!

If the artifacts aren't quite tantalising enough, there's always the swathe of new dungeons being introduced with the expansion, such as the Arcway.

Still not excited? You must be a PvPer then! Worry not, there's a sparkling new prestige system being introduced, as well as a number of changes to the way PvP will work from now on.

Still? You're a tough one to please. Maybe you prefer a more pacifist route through Azeroth? You'll be able to enjoy more costumes and outfits than ever before with the new transmogrification and wardrobe systems

You can also check out the interviews I had with Venruki, Treckie and Tegu in our "Will Legion Save WoW?" article. You'll get perspectives on changes from some of the best players in the world in both PvP and PvE!

Before you enter, make sure that your computer is up to scratch for the Legion client by checking the system requirements.

While I'm not entering, I'll never miss out on a chance to take part in the fun! Personally, my favourite part in Legion so far and what I am looking forward to most is the lore surrounding certain characters. I don't want to put spoilers into this post, but you can check out the fate of some of them in our spoilers posts (Part 2). As a favourite moment of WoW, it would have to be the moment I first saw C'thun. The constant taunting as you approach, his appearance, it was just amazing. That for me is the peak of nostalgic feeling towards this game.

That's it from me. Good luck to you all and I can't wait to read your replies!

I am looking forward to seeing Legendary items drop again :)

Honestly myself, I'm mainly looking foward to the lore that's being introduced for warlocks, and the fact we might actually see sargeras soon! Or at least an avatar anyhow...

Plus specs having some identity and playing uniquely is sweet. I missed that in wow, used to be a great strong point, looking forward to seeing that again.

Oh, and on memorys I miss, is just mainly the friend making oportunitys & such back in cata & wrath can't you just can't seem to get anymore, hope that returns with legion!

It's going to be interesting to see how Legion pans out with all the new class changes, and the new class the "Demon Hunter.'  For me, I'm probably looking forward the most to trying out a Demon Hunter within a pve and pvp environment to see how well they do.  Also, I'm hoping that the demon hunters are not to OP like the death knights were when Wrath was released.   I'm also looking forward to see how the new legendary items work out from the quest line to the new items that drop from random mobs.  For my fondest memory i would have to say when I first stated to play way way back in Vanilla.  I remember creating a Night Elf with the intention that they were an evil race like in some of the past games I played.  However, I found out later after playing that wasn't the case, but I still liked the choice. Also, i remember stepping foot into Darnassus for the first time, and remembering how large the game looked, and seeing all those other Night elfs running around not knowing what was going on.

I'm looking forward to playing through the Artifact Questlines. I just hope they include a way to do them without having a character of every class. I am pumped to see the lore behind it, especially with all the new books coming out!

I am excited for Legion because I feel like it'll bring along new opportunities for me as a hopeful player. I have played World of Warcraft for over 10 years along my entire family and now I am the only one left standing. I used to be in a guild back on Gul'dan called Machevellion Legion for around 6 years and everyone there used to be extremely active. That was back in BC though. Now a days the entire server, let alone the guild, is dead. All the memories I used to have back then still stick with me though. When I started the game I was only in the first grade and was 5. Now I'm finishing up my sophomore year in high school and am 16. As I said before, I am the only one left in my family who plays WoW. The only people I can play with in game are my guildies and they don't raid. Ever. I want to go into the Legion beta to learn what classes might be good for me to play in the timeframe of Legion. As for a happy memory of the game, I remember my family used to play in this one room in the house we called the "Computer Room". There were a bunch of dead computers back there and it was technically my dad's office. He had 4 computer set up down a wooden table and me, my 2 brothers, and my dad would just level characters. My 2 older brothers were one of the first 2 to quit because the oldest got married and had to quit because he didn't want to spend the money anymore and the other brother joined the military and doesn't have time to spend on it anymore. My dad plays occasionally, as he still has a running account, but he doesn't get a chance to play. Those memories in that room though will stay with me forever. It's where I got my first level 80 in Wrath when I was roughly 8 or 9, It's where I got my first epic pants from VoA, and it's where I first got to level 55 on my tauren hunter so I could make my first Death Knight. Most of my memories with my family were Wrath related.

I remember in 2009 when i started playing Wow. I remember all the fun i had, and all the small coals i had. I wanted to be level 55 with my dwarf paladin so that i could play a death knight. I remember when i was level 54 i fell into some lava and i could not get out again. I thought that was it, i thought i had to start a new char. Luckily a friend of mine helped me out. That is what i think about everytime i think about my start in wow. I can't wait for legion and i hope that i will have just as much fun as i have had all the other years. I can't wait for artifact weapons and the new honor system, the new zones, raids, dungeons. Oh boy i hope i can get into the beta at some point.

I am very excited for the healer leveling. Don't know how Blizzard will do that, but finally I can level as a Holy Paladin and I don't have to switch speccs!

I'm definitely looking forward to the artifact weapons, and seeing how they impact PVE. On the other hand, as an AH goblin, I want to see what the new transmog system does to the economy.

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
