Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

Really can't wait! Never really been into transmogs but with this new system it looks like a lot of fun. Starting to collect some cool items on the characters I think I'll play the most in Legion... tough choice picking a main though. Probably gonna stick with Druid, but Priest is looking real good :/

Congratulations on the 5 year anniversary, you guys have helped me and so many others enjoy this game. Good luck going into Legion, cheers!

Legion's looking better and better for every video I see posted on YouTube, I'm officially all aboard the Illidan hype train lol.  The class over hall looks amazing for everyone I'm excited to play a few different classes to see what one I find most fun for PvP and PvE.  The incorporation of the artifact weapons looks interesting as well, I'm curious to see when the power of the artifact weapon grows how much it will affect the rotation of a class as well as getting my hands on some tier/PvP pieces to further change play style.  All in all it really looks like Blizzard put some well thought out planning into what they are doing in Legion.  I can't wait to step into the scenario for the first time 20 Horde 20 Alliance slaughtering all the Demons in unison I hope they have a kill counter or something cause it looks like this will be Epic!!!

I have always loved raiding and soloing content so the most anticipated adds in legion for me are the new raids which look amazing, the artifact system which I am interested to see along with the class changes how that interacts with some of the end game gear we have now even tho it will be replaced shortly after, and of course the new mounts being a mount collector it is always cool to see the new designs.

My most memorable moments in wow have always been with raiding whether it be up or down. Those are the one I remember the most (other than starting wow for the first time and not know anything with that sense of discovering a new land and game style that each new expansion brings.). I also remember getting each and every new rare mount I own. They all have a story whether it be a two week gold grind or a year long raid grind. All these things keep me going and can't wait for legion to continue that grind.

16593-icy-veins-5-years-anniversary-200-

Grab your chance to win a Legion beta key!

Icy Veins is turning 5 today and we wanted to celebrate it in the best way possible! We're giving all of you the chance to win a key for the upcoming beta of World of Warcraft: Legion!

As 2011 approached, two young gentlemen were sat discussing ideas for a World of Warcraft website. Ideas were passed back and forth, drafts were drawn up and the first edition of the Icy Veins website was released on the 21st of March, 2011. With a total of 3 guides for specialisations, 2 of which were Mage guides, and 1 raid encounter guide, Icy Veins was beginning its long journey.

5 years later and here we are! With a brand new design just released and with more changes planned in the near future, Icy Veins has not only grown, but matured under the watchful eyes of its founders, Damien and Vlad. With their tireless work ethic and their dedication to the site, we've seen Icy Veins expand from a small World of Warcraft guide-hub into a Blizzard-wide gaming community.

I feel like the word community is worth focusing on, since that's the general theme of today's post. With a growing membership on the forums and an increasing viewer-base on our news posts, Icy Veins has grown into a family. Without the users that visit the site each day, Icy Veins could never have become what it is today. Readers allow our team to do what we love: creating content for all of you.

For everything that you have done for us, we thought today would be a perfect day to do something for you.

Legion Beta Key Giveaway

As many of you know, World of Warcraft is releasing its new expansion this year: Legion. The expansion is overhauling a huge number of aspects within the game, as well as introducing a number of new parts into the game.

Many of you won't have been able to experience all of the new content that is being released, so we wanted to help. With the aid of Blizzard, we're giving away 200 keys to the upcoming beta; 100 of the keys will be given out this week, 100 in another giveaway next week. It's a pretty simple giveaway, you'll just need to post an appropriate comment on this post before the 29th of March to enter!

So what is an appropriate comment? We love hearing back from our readers and we love discussions, so why not mix the two and put together a giveaway! We want to know all about your opinions on Legion, as well as WoW itself. Let us know in the comments what you're most looking forward to, as well as your fondest memories in Warcraft history! Whether it's a guild moment, a personal moment or a moment in the game's story itself, we want to hear it.

Rules

As with all of our giveaways, there are some rules:

  1. Every comment must be relevant to this article, giving examples of what you look forward to in Legion and what you enjoyed in the past.
  2. The first giveaway will end on the 29th of March at 23:59 GMT.
  3. Only one comment will be counted per person.
  4. Comments on the linked articles will also be included in the draw if they are relevant to the topics.
  5. Commenting on multiple topics will not increase your chances of winning.
  6. The winner will be drawn randomly from all the comments that are deemed "acceptable".
  7. It is at our discretion which comments will be deemed acceptable, based on the extent to which they stay relevant to this article.
  8. We will not release the dates on which the keys will be released, as Blizzard have requested us not to do so.
  9. We do not know when the Beta will start, so please do not analyse our article hoping to find that. It's not there.
  10. The comments section will be checked via a bot used in previous giveaways, so multiple comments will be found.
  11. We have tools to detect cheating, so please don't bother.
  12. We reserve the right to stop anyone competing if we believe they are cheating.

Legion Information

If you're struggling for inspiration or you haven't been able to explore some of the information being released from the Alpha, we've made sure to give you a few pointers below:

Players will be equipped with the mightiest weapons of Azeroth, the artifact weapons, each tied to our classes with a unique link in lore. If you're looking to find some additional information on the lore behind your weapons, as well as some of the alternatives, you can always check out the artifact series we featured!

If the artifacts aren't quite tantalising enough, there's always the swathe of new dungeons being introduced with the expansion, such as the Arcway.

Still not excited? You must be a PvPer then! Worry not, there's a sparkling new prestige system being introduced, as well as a number of changes to the way PvP will work from now on.

Still? You're a tough one to please. Maybe you prefer a more pacifist route through Azeroth? You'll be able to enjoy more costumes and outfits than ever before with the new transmogrification and wardrobe systems

You can also check out the interviews I had with Venruki, Treckie and Tegu in our "Will Legion Save WoW?" article. You'll get perspectives on changes from some of the best players in the world in both PvP and PvE!

Before you enter, make sure that your computer is up to scratch for the Legion client by checking the system requirements.

While I'm not entering, I'll never miss out on a chance to take part in the fun! Personally, my favourite part in Legion so far and what I am looking forward to most is the lore surrounding certain characters. I don't want to put spoilers into this post, but you can check out the fate of some of them in our spoilers posts (Part 2). As a favourite moment of WoW, it would have to be the moment I first saw C'thun. The constant taunting as you approach, his appearance, it was just amazing. That for me is the peak of nostalgic feeling towards this game.

That's it from me. Good luck to you all and I can't wait to read your replies!

I'm gonna be honest here, legion will be my last shot at WoW because of the failure that WoD has been. But in fairness, all the things i have seen thus far are pretty amazing. Especially the new animations and sounds meleeclasses have, now it feels like you really slice something up. Abilitiy pruning might be interesting as well.

The only thing we lack information off is the world content besides leveling and raiding, i really really hope they will step up their game and think of something nice, engaging and compelling - in other words, the complete opposite of WoD's.

And of course the Demon Hunter, i always liked melee classes as well as the Warglaives of Azzinoth and now they will be playable in different styles and characters!

cheers

As a Warlock main, and have been since i started playing wow, i am really happy for the majority of the things i am seeing them changing (Shadowfury cast time tho, really?). Also i am really exited by the new dungeon system, to me it seems like a really fun thing to go do with friends, since in wod the only thing you ever did towards the end of the xpac with friends was raiding, so i am really excited for that.

Hello

So I have been a WoW player since the start of MoP. I always new about the game (born in 2000) but I tought it was for weird fantasy geeks. My stephbrother started playing in cata and said I should check it out to. I played the demo for a couple of months and finally bought WoW. From the moment I stepped in the world I loved it. The zones, the music, the story everything. My favorite expansion content is from Wrath of the Lich King and Mist of Pandaria. I am very exited for Legion. The vrykuls are one of my favorite WoW races and they are returning in a zone in Legion. All the zones look really cool. Especially Stormheim and Highmountain. I don't know if I like the artifacts. I think it will mess up the lore a bit and I don't like it that you are forced to wear a certain weapon (I play windwalker and I don't like the ww artifact) I think the story is also gonna be verry great. I love the worgen and undead story so I'm glad Greymane and Sylvanas get a spotlight.

I really hope I get the beta key so I can play Legion early.(And play wow again becouse I haven't played it in 6 months becouse I'm getting money for the samsung galaxy s7 edge which is quite expensive)

I think there's a lot of positives coming from this expansion at first look, some classes like mage, hunter and warlock became a bit stale as they just felt the same with each spec but with some of these changes it looks like they will be feeling alot different as well as changing a lot to do with how most specs work the removal of mana from shamans etc.

Im not to sure about the artifact quest chain telling everyone there the chosen one and then them seeing everyone else with the weapon seems a bit off putting but the way the artifact weapon scales and gives different passives and abilities does look good and adds a new aspect which i think will help each class and spec have that individuality they need.

As far as im concerned the changes they have done to the questing zones and how each dungeon ties into looks really good but with only 4 zones i believe it will become very samey when your leveling alts even though you can start in any of the 4 zones. The scaling does look like it will bring in more world content and get you explorer which will be good especially if it drags in the old world as well instead of just the new expansion zones but will have to see.

Im incredibly excited to be playing this i am looking forward to see how these changes will go into play and i think they really have learnt from there mistakes in WOD but im still gonna have to wait and see how well they do it all.

Im really looking foward to legion. To the new honor system. Class changes ect. Warlords was a disaster but i think blizzard have learned from that and putting alot of effort into legion. (Hope so). Im not that excited for the artifacts. But the warrior and demo warlock changes looks sweet. :)

What isn't to be excited for? I so desperately want to try out the new legion zones, the PvP honor system, all the class changes. There is going to be so much that I want to experience. I can't wait to get my hands on it to try out all the new and revamped specs for all of our characters. I really hope Blizzard does some justice for us.

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
