Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

The thing that I look forward to the most in legion is being able to play with all the new tweaks and character changes that are coming. I love playing with new talents and exploring how they can be optimized. And like past expansions I can't wait to see the new dungeons and raids! All aboard the hype train!

The changes to Fire Mage and Balance Druid are looking extremely fun and I can't wait to try them out! My best moment in WoW was when I got my first character up to level 80.

I'm most excited for the lore in legion, especially with illidan, alleria and turalyon making an appearance again. Also can't wait to try out the artifact system. New animations look pretty awesome as well. What I've enjoyed the most have been arenas (new ones coming out in legion hype), but I've also loved raiding (ICC is still one of the favourite raids)

I am really looking forward to the artifact systems, going to be fun and time consuming to level all 11 specs to get them all .  I also like that you guys posted a web archive of the original site, crazy to see what it looked like back then, Icy-veins has come a long way

What I'm looking most forward to is the new playstyle of "Combat" rogues, I've been playing rogue since my vanilla days, and it will be fun to see what they're gonna do.

I'm really looking forward to the new PVP Honor system and the artifacts. I've also heard about the new Transmog GUI and I wonder if that has been incorporated yet. In the past I would usually stuff my mog gear in my void storage so if the transmog storage is implemented I would love to take a look at that.

Looking forward to experimentation with talents and gameplay, especially of Blood and UH. The new blood abilities make me believe the new blood gameplay will be very different than what it is now, and I'll be looking forward to seeing how it is

I'm looking forward to playing in fully textured Suramar. From what i've seen recently the art team created probably the best looking city in WoW. And the better is it will be a lvl 100 endgame zone. Legion's stuff to do at max level looks very promising too(there seems to be a lot of variety) world quests, Suramar zone, keystone dungeons, class hall questlines, not to mention profession revamp. Blizzard is finally focusing on endgame and it makes me very happy

laugh.png Time for some demon hunter slice and dicing!!! What I enjoyed most in the past was the "thrill" feeling in both pvp or pve and I believe Legion will bring it to us and probably even better. By far, the one moment I will never forget was when I got the "Deathbringer's Will" in Icecrown Citadel, boss  was Deathbringer Saurfang. Thats the one item I just can't forget looting and I dont know why, I guess I just really liked the idea of transforming.

First, HFC is boring already, had enough of more then one yeah long raid tier with SoO. Second, artifact weapons are a really nice aproach, the certenly look good (at least most of them) and the customization and power ups really make me remember the progession system of FFX, with the nodes and spheres Besides, wielding weapons that once belonged to major lore characters makes us all feel op Third, class halls, a place where all the heroes of the same class can hang out and interact seems preety cool and way more sociable and fun then that facebook game they impelemeted in WoD called garrisons (plz, blizz, no more garrisons, unless its a guild sort of housing). Fourth, class changes, getting to relearn how to play the classes is preety engaging, with all the new spells and animations, is always something to look forward to in a new expansion (and of course to see which classes will be op as crap and the ones that will be getting the short straw and never see the light of day ). FIfth, the new transmog tab, that i really hope it gets implemented, cant be bothered to run old raids time and time again with the same toon only to get set pieces of different classes, keep getting cool mog stuff i want but most the times on the wrong toons Sixth, the graphical update and the whole new environments, they sure look good from what i've seen so far so it will be very interesting to explore this new landscapes. And last but not least, the new end game content (dungs and raids, cba pvp ), from what has been released, it looks preety cool and cant wait to kill some new bosses (especially that ratchet Gul'dan). And that is it, those are the main reasons why i look forward to legion, and would be awesome to experiment the new content first hand with beta key (well second hand, cause it seems only the mythic archi killing machines have the chance to paly first hand with alpha, which is unfair but understandable), cause i never had the chance to do it in past expansions. Cheers and keep on the good work

16593-icy-veins-5-years-anniversary-200-

Grab your chance to win a Legion beta key!

Icy Veins is turning 5 today and we wanted to celebrate it in the best way possible! We're giving all of you the chance to win a key for the upcoming beta of World of Warcraft: Legion!

As 2011 approached, two young gentlemen were sat discussing ideas for a World of Warcraft website. Ideas were passed back and forth, drafts were drawn up and the first edition of the Icy Veins website was released on the 21st of March, 2011. With a total of 3 guides for specialisations, 2 of which were Mage guides, and 1 raid encounter guide, Icy Veins was beginning its long journey.

5 years later and here we are! With a brand new design just released and with more changes planned in the near future, Icy Veins has not only grown, but matured under the watchful eyes of its founders, Damien and Vlad. With their tireless work ethic and their dedication to the site, we've seen Icy Veins expand from a small World of Warcraft guide-hub into a Blizzard-wide gaming community.

I feel like the word community is worth focusing on, since that's the general theme of today's post. With a growing membership on the forums and an increasing viewer-base on our news posts, Icy Veins has grown into a family. Without the users that visit the site each day, Icy Veins could never have become what it is today. Readers allow our team to do what we love: creating content for all of you.

For everything that you have done for us, we thought today would be a perfect day to do something for you.

Legion Beta Key Giveaway

As many of you know, World of Warcraft is releasing its new expansion this year: Legion. The expansion is overhauling a huge number of aspects within the game, as well as introducing a number of new parts into the game.

Many of you won't have been able to experience all of the new content that is being released, so we wanted to help. With the aid of Blizzard, we're giving away 200 keys to the upcoming beta; 100 of the keys will be given out this week, 100 in another giveaway next week. It's a pretty simple giveaway, you'll just need to post an appropriate comment on this post before the 29th of March to enter!

So what is an appropriate comment? We love hearing back from our readers and we love discussions, so why not mix the two and put together a giveaway! We want to know all about your opinions on Legion, as well as WoW itself. Let us know in the comments what you're most looking forward to, as well as your fondest memories in Warcraft history! Whether it's a guild moment, a personal moment or a moment in the game's story itself, we want to hear it.

Rules

As with all of our giveaways, there are some rules:

  1. Every comment must be relevant to this article, giving examples of what you look forward to in Legion and what you enjoyed in the past.
  2. The first giveaway will end on the 29th of March at 23:59 GMT.
  3. Only one comment will be counted per person.
  4. Comments on the linked articles will also be included in the draw if they are relevant to the topics.
  5. Commenting on multiple topics will not increase your chances of winning.
  6. The winner will be drawn randomly from all the comments that are deemed "acceptable".
  7. It is at our discretion which comments will be deemed acceptable, based on the extent to which they stay relevant to this article.
  8. We will not release the dates on which the keys will be released, as Blizzard have requested us not to do so.
  9. We do not know when the Beta will start, so please do not analyse our article hoping to find that. It's not there.
  10. The comments section will be checked via a bot used in previous giveaways, so multiple comments will be found.
  11. We have tools to detect cheating, so please don't bother.
  12. We reserve the right to stop anyone competing if we believe they are cheating.

Legion Information

If you're struggling for inspiration or you haven't been able to explore some of the information being released from the Alpha, we've made sure to give you a few pointers below:

Players will be equipped with the mightiest weapons of Azeroth, the artifact weapons, each tied to our classes with a unique link in lore. If you're looking to find some additional information on the lore behind your weapons, as well as some of the alternatives, you can always check out the artifact series we featured!

If the artifacts aren't quite tantalising enough, there's always the swathe of new dungeons being introduced with the expansion, such as the Arcway.

Still not excited? You must be a PvPer then! Worry not, there's a sparkling new prestige system being introduced, as well as a number of changes to the way PvP will work from now on.

Still? You're a tough one to please. Maybe you prefer a more pacifist route through Azeroth? You'll be able to enjoy more costumes and outfits than ever before with the new transmogrification and wardrobe systems

You can also check out the interviews I had with Venruki, Treckie and Tegu in our "Will Legion Save WoW?" article. You'll get perspectives on changes from some of the best players in the world in both PvP and PvE!

Before you enter, make sure that your computer is up to scratch for the Legion client by checking the system requirements.

While I'm not entering, I'll never miss out on a chance to take part in the fun! Personally, my favourite part in Legion so far and what I am looking forward to most is the lore surrounding certain characters. I don't want to put spoilers into this post, but you can check out the fate of some of them in our spoilers posts (Part 2). As a favourite moment of WoW, it would have to be the moment I first saw C'thun. The constant taunting as you approach, his appearance, it was just amazing. That for me is the peak of nostalgic feeling towards this game.

That's it from me. Good luck to you all and I can't wait to read your replies!

I look forward to their new way of doing "challenge mode". it's a great idea to make the dungeons progressively harder and give the dungeons some more use (: Instead of them being relevant for just a week.

Hey there. In WoW Legion, i'm very much looking forward to all these Emerald Nightmare shenanigans caused by Xavius and  his allies. What will happen with Ysera? How will we defeat Xavius and will he be able to return again or this will be his final end? And how will Malfurion react to return of his old enemy?.My favorite thing in WoW history were Druid class quests and I was very sad when they decided to remove them. Made me feel epic and special earning various shape shifting forms. I hope artifact quests will return at least some this feeling Otherwise, keep up the amazing work Icy Veins and thanks for all the info over the years.

I'm looking most forward to the class changes and added animations to spice up the combat! The new transmog system finally makes making an outfit or armor set for RP a lot easier.

I'm also looking forward to the new region and questing zones. New mobs, dungeons, quest lines, and even the artifact weapons and their appropriate quests.

The raids so far look great and the order halls are not too bad either with their almost garrison-like quality (Even if I did not enjoy it that much in Draenor), but the new bounty missions looks to make the game more interesting and engaging, such as the gathering nodes that come alive, or provide you level ups in your gathering professions!

Most of all I'm looking forward to fighting the Legion, being drawn in with new lore, and seeing what happens to major characters, including my own.

I have never been so excited for an expansion Legion looks absolutely epic especially given as I started playing in BC and love that content. I can't wait to play the Demon Hunter Artefacts look great (I miss the old talent system so this in a way replaces that) I'm a big sucker for Lore so I'll be paying close attention to the storyline! *Excited Shivers* Can't wait to dive headlong in the action!

Excited to try all the changes to the specs, particularly enhance and balance, as well as the new challenge mode dungeons. Favourite moments in WoW so far have been optimising runs to complete the WoD CM dungeons and epic clutch prog kills on bosses like Tectus and Kormrok where we all thought it was over

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
