Icy Veins' 5 Years Anniversary: 200 Legion Beta Key Giveaway

Recommended Posts

Man where do I begin? I am so freaking pumped for Legion. First and foremost, Demon Hunters! I loved the Illidan fight in Black Temple, he was such a badass and even the trailer for BC still rings in my mind as one of the best. You!! Are not prepared!! It was this holy smoke moment, it literally took ages to attune and get ready for that fight, all the while the anticipation building and it did not dissapoint. He was so damn cool!! I was lucky enough to get a main hand glaive on my fury warrior, my first ever legendary, I couldnt believe my luck haha, we had a group of 5 melee and 4 of us had at least with 1 glaive and together we journeyed in to sunwell to take on Kil'jaeden. It was epic!!

And now, years on. They release the trailer for Legion and I see Demon Hunters, I nerdgasm on the spot. Holy smoke, I was hooked harder then Ive been for wow in years!! They look so freaking cool! So many awesome abilities, they can double jump! Thats huge hahaha! Epic transformation with insane damage and mobility, eye beams and stomps, man even the tank gets some absolutely kickass abilities!! Aoe Grip, aoe silene, aoe dmg all from their runes, their lvl 46 pvp talent basically turns you into Darth Vader!! You're able to pick some one up in the air, then throw them across the room to slam down on the ground. You could pick up a healer in battlegrounds and then throw them into your blender of melee and pets hahaha. Decimating them! So pumped for that too. And the havoc abilities, the movement, so damn quick, gliding to safety anytime you jump off a cliff. Then finish it off with that badass aoe damage stomp. Just epic!!

And then artifacts! Ashbringer! Doomhammer! Those two alone sold me on the idea. And then when I saw the different variations, and each spec has a different one with its own history and abilities. Druids getting epic new appearance, completely awesome. Frost Death knights being able to summon Sindragosa!? How insane is that!!? I'm a bit of an altoholic haha. Firemages becoming like Kaelthas, firey orbs sitting on your shoulder throwing pyroblast after pyrobast. Fury warriors, in fact almost every class Ive looked at so far, is getting visual updates to so many of their abilities weve had for ages. Charge got an epic shoulder bash that looks utter badass! So many absolutely awesome looking moves too, a dual wielding double strike with both blades, and a triple attack that just does damage!!

Can you tell I've been watching everything and anything I can about Legion? I am so so keen for this game. I want to get into the alpha or beta and learn everything I can so when the game finally does drop, I can go beast mode and kick ass harder then I ever have, my sister, a few mates and I have been preparing for months already, farming gold, learning the lore leading up to current events, working towards the challenge modes which unlock account wide with a token thanks to the new transmog system, another very cool feature. Not to mention the lore of this expansion is going to be incredible I'm pretty sure, we are taking on the Burning Legion, we know how to kill them now. Sargeras is a former titan, that fight is going to be insane. We will finally get to take on Guldan and make him pay for every vile act he has done! Man so many awesome things, even the dungeons look awesome and the new models to match, the Vyrkul King looks like a total badass, and the new quest dialog boxes of characters actually talking to us to give us the story instead of just skipping the text and doing the objectives, that is going to get so many people way more into the lore of WoW then ever before. I am so so keen for this and so very hopeful to get into the Alpha or Beta, try everything I can and then come out roaring when the expansion hits.

If you made it to the end of this, thank you very much haha. Legion is going to be freaking epic!!! Legendary even hehehe. Can't wait to share the experience with some awesome people!grin emoticon Cheers - Ozijak

I'm really looking forward to seeing how they have changed how moonkin plays. It seems that every Xpac they change it substantially. It's in a pretty good place just now, I'm hoping we don't return to hitting like a limp pillow.

Definitely most excited for the updated melee animations and in combination with that the Artifact weapons. Seems to give melees the unique feel back i have been missing for quite some time.

As for memories i have a ton. But if i have to pick one i will most likely pick the first time in SSC. We had just found enough people to go in and I remember how excited we were when we took the second elevator and saw the whole area for the first time.

I'm really excited for all the changes to pop and the Artifacts weapons. I've also always wanted Dalaran as my main city and from what I seem it looks amazing and that makes me really excited for it.

When i started with wow somewhere in late vanilla my first character was a night elf druid, i was so young that i didn't understand English yet (I'm from Sweden). But i just fell in love with exploring the game and with the new expansion Legion i can't wait to see pretty much everything. Wows version of Vahalla, the return of the Vrykul, and the Night elf society at the Broken Isles. My fondest memory of wow is just running around and exploring and i hope i can some what relive that in legion, the land seems so beautiful from just some screenshots I've seen

My fondest memories of World of Warcraft dates back to classic.

Was play with a friend, first time either of us had tried this game genre.

We were just below level 20 and I had been leveling tailoring, just hitting the wool requirement. Neither of us knew where to get wool, so we started to kill sheep critters en masse. When we finally figured it out we couldn't stop laughing.

Same friend, now in our 30's, flying from Ironforge to Stormwind, passing over Alter of Storms in Burning Steppes. What was that? We had to find out! Running and dying for 30 odd minutes just to find nothing interesting there.

Doing the Benediction staff questline on my priest.

First Ragnaros kill.

Opening the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj on Magtheridon server, farming 1500 copper per day, every day of the week, for the event.

Regarding Legion, there're many things I look forward to.

The visual improvements to the game. Seen most of the new animations in videos, they look great.

The new PVP talents and the prestige levels.
New UI improvements, going to save a lot of space in my banks.

More emphasis on classes.

I play wow since Burning crusade and i'm really looking forward to WOW: Legion. My favorite memory about WOW is when we were running Black Temple and we were at supremus. We didnt do it correctly so our leader would keep screaming in the most hilarious accent: FOCUS PEOPLE FOCUSSSSSSSSS!.

Right now I focus on running old raids for their story lines and old memories.

ATM I'm kinda not entertained with warlords of dreanor, I think its a bit boring so I cant wait for WOW: Legion to come out!

I'm really excited to see the changes that are in store for Challenge Modes, especially now that I've gotten back into doing them regularly! (working on getting decent region ranks and all that - turns out it's a whole lot of fun.)

Over the past 10 years this game turned out to play a rather big part of my life, and I'm always looking forward to seeing what's to come.

As a die-hard rogue, i am really looking forward to the Outlaw spec (Combat rogue) to the class.  The idea of a ranged weapon for a rogue will give a whole new spin on things, IMO.  and the idea of the class halls has me really looking forward to Legion.

The new transmog system will be a big hit as well as the ability to level in any zone.  One of my favourite memories of WoW goes back to Molten Core when it was current content and we cleared the whole works using a LOT of Savory Deviate Delight so we did it all as ninjas.  Good times!  I've been a healing priest since that time and would love an opportunity to truly try out the new holy priest builds.

I am very excited for legion. As a long time rogue player I loved all the class fantasy that existed before and from what I've seen with class halls and artifacts Blizzard is bringing some of it back.

It's been frustrating being a healer in WoD, for Legion, I am looking forward to how the artifact weapons will shake up our play styles and the new approach with Holy Priest... well just Holy and Disc in general. I want to experience the new raids and a complete reset. I've been playing since 2006, so I have a lot of junk for the wardrobe. =D I don't even know what I am going to do with all the bagspace.

The most importend memory of wow is the fist raid or better my first raid.

it was the time of Cataclysm the run on Firelands and my first own raid. We started with Shannox and we kill him in the first try.

i know it is not much for everyone but for me my favorit memory of this game. I was so proud because my first real raid with gildmates and the such a start.

For Legion i interested in the lvl zones the storys and the lore. a big point for me ist what happend with illidan and see Neltharions lair.

so i can´t wait the see all of these ingame for myself i don´t read or watch alpha videos for the story still yet. so there would be nice to get a key that can sneak out for myself some of these points not all there i wait for the final version, but one or two on beta? hehe

so good luck to all and thx to icy-veins for this chance

This is great!

I'm most looking forward to seeing the diversification of classes and specs so that we can finally start bringing some class identity back to the game. I most look forward to seeing new Balance/Resto druid things.

Also having done CMs in MoP and WoD i'm looking forward to the new CM system and being able to progress throughout the entire expansion.

16593-icy-veins-5-years-anniversary-200-

Grab your chance to win a Legion beta key!

Icy Veins is turning 5 today and we wanted to celebrate it in the best way possible! We're giving all of you the chance to win a key for the upcoming beta of World of Warcraft: Legion!

As 2011 approached, two young gentlemen were sat discussing ideas for a World of Warcraft website. Ideas were passed back and forth, drafts were drawn up and the first edition of the Icy Veins website was released on the 21st of March, 2011. With a total of 3 guides for specialisations, 2 of which were Mage guides, and 1 raid encounter guide, Icy Veins was beginning its long journey.

5 years later and here we are! With a brand new design just released and with more changes planned in the near future, Icy Veins has not only grown, but matured under the watchful eyes of its founders, Damien and Vlad. With their tireless work ethic and their dedication to the site, we've seen Icy Veins expand from a small World of Warcraft guide-hub into a Blizzard-wide gaming community.

I feel like the word community is worth focusing on, since that's the general theme of today's post. With a growing membership on the forums and an increasing viewer-base on our news posts, Icy Veins has grown into a family. Without the users that visit the site each day, Icy Veins could never have become what it is today. Readers allow our team to do what we love: creating content for all of you.

For everything that you have done for us, we thought today would be a perfect day to do something for you.

Legion Beta Key Giveaway

As many of you know, World of Warcraft is releasing its new expansion this year: Legion. The expansion is overhauling a huge number of aspects within the game, as well as introducing a number of new parts into the game.

Many of you won't have been able to experience all of the new content that is being released, so we wanted to help. With the aid of Blizzard, we're giving away 200 keys to the upcoming beta; 100 of the keys will be given out this week, 100 in another giveaway next week. It's a pretty simple giveaway, you'll just need to post an appropriate comment on this post before the 29th of March to enter!

So what is an appropriate comment? We love hearing back from our readers and we love discussions, so why not mix the two and put together a giveaway! We want to know all about your opinions on Legion, as well as WoW itself. Let us know in the comments what you're most looking forward to, as well as your fondest memories in Warcraft history! Whether it's a guild moment, a personal moment or a moment in the game's story itself, we want to hear it.

Rules

As with all of our giveaways, there are some rules:

  1. Every comment must be relevant to this article, giving examples of what you look forward to in Legion and what you enjoyed in the past.
  2. The first giveaway will end on the 29th of March at 23:59 GMT.
  3. Only one comment will be counted per person.
  4. Comments on the linked articles will also be included in the draw if they are relevant to the topics.
  5. Commenting on multiple topics will not increase your chances of winning.
  6. The winner will be drawn randomly from all the comments that are deemed "acceptable".
  7. It is at our discretion which comments will be deemed acceptable, based on the extent to which they stay relevant to this article.
  8. We will not release the dates on which the keys will be released, as Blizzard have requested us not to do so.
  9. We do not know when the Beta will start, so please do not analyse our article hoping to find that. It's not there.
  10. The comments section will be checked via a bot used in previous giveaways, so multiple comments will be found.
  11. We have tools to detect cheating, so please don't bother.
  12. We reserve the right to stop anyone competing if we believe they are cheating.

Legion Information

If you're struggling for inspiration or you haven't been able to explore some of the information being released from the Alpha, we've made sure to give you a few pointers below:

Players will be equipped with the mightiest weapons of Azeroth, the artifact weapons, each tied to our classes with a unique link in lore. If you're looking to find some additional information on the lore behind your weapons, as well as some of the alternatives, you can always check out the artifact series we featured!

If the artifacts aren't quite tantalising enough, there's always the swathe of new dungeons being introduced with the expansion, such as the Arcway.

Still not excited? You must be a PvPer then! Worry not, there's a sparkling new prestige system being introduced, as well as a number of changes to the way PvP will work from now on.

Still? You're a tough one to please. Maybe you prefer a more pacifist route through Azeroth? You'll be able to enjoy more costumes and outfits than ever before with the new transmogrification and wardrobe systems

You can also check out the interviews I had with Venruki, Treckie and Tegu in our "Will Legion Save WoW?" article. You'll get perspectives on changes from some of the best players in the world in both PvP and PvE!

Before you enter, make sure that your computer is up to scratch for the Legion client by checking the system requirements.

While I'm not entering, I'll never miss out on a chance to take part in the fun! Personally, my favourite part in Legion so far and what I am looking forward to most is the lore surrounding certain characters. I don't want to put spoilers into this post, but you can check out the fate of some of them in our spoilers posts (Part 2). As a favourite moment of WoW, it would have to be the moment I first saw C'thun. The constant taunting as you approach, his appearance, it was just amazing. That for me is the peak of nostalgic feeling towards this game.

That's it from me. Good luck to you all and I can't wait to read your replies!

The WoD was a dissaster overall and i'm really close to loose hope in the game itself. Yet i have forged great friendships in the game and dont really want to quit it. Im actually looking for a least bit of motivation to not quit WoW. I also want to fulfil my long lasting desire to play a demon hunter, and give feedback to blizz accordingly to make sure they're creating the class right. I really want to get back in the old days of staying up untill I went to school, and i belive legion is the thing for that to happen.

Today, we release our Path of Exile site. It is not entirely finished yet, but the content is there and we felt comfortable sharing it with Path of Exile players from our current audience.
This is a project that we have been working on for quite some time (so nothing to do with the recent Diablo announcements or lack thereof). We developed a CMS from the ground up, using our many years of experience with Icy Veins as a basis for the various features we required on the publishing side of the site. We also added things such as a proper item database or a dev tracker. These are things we can't have on Icy Veins, because the tech the site is running on would not permit it. Hopefully, one day we can run Icy Veins on our new tech and do all these things, if we feel like it.
As I was saying above, the site is not 100% ready, but it is very close in terms of features. We worked hard in the past two weeks to fix all major bugs, so that end users can have a smooth experience, and we have enough content to cover the currently most popular builds. So we are waiting for your feedback!

Currently you will find the following things on the site: guides and news for Path of Exile, an item database (still missing out a couple of base items), a dev tracker (Official Forums + Twitter + Reddit), and of course forums where people can discuss about that game.
Our guide offering is currently as follows:
Triple Herald Blade Vortex Elementalist Build Arc Mines Saboteur Build Guide Glacial Cascade Mines Saboteur Build Guide Ancestral Warchief Ascendant Build Guide Ascendant Hit Elemental Build Guide Aurabot Ascendant, 8 Auras Build Guide The Cleave Ascendant Build Guide Herald of Agony Occultist Build Guide Frostbolt/Glacial Cascade Totems Hierophant Build Guide Uber Labyrinth Farmer Juggernaut Build Guide Rain of Arrows Deadeye Build Guide Tornado Shot Deadeye Build Guide The Baron Zombies/Skeletons Necromancer Build Guide Toxic Rain Pathfinder Build Blade Flurry Gladiator Build Guide Spectral Throw Raider Build Guide Cyclone Slayer Build Guide We also have a beginner guide for fresh exiles.
With all that said, we're hoping to see you on that new website and are looking forward to your comments!
Please welcome our newest website on Path of Exile!
