Rain of Fire woes

I've hit level 90 with my Lock and, after playing demo up until this point, I've decided to try out destro.

One thing I've noticed so far is that I hate Rain of Fire. The guide says to keep it up, but I'm finding it a bit of a pain as it has to be targeted on the ground. I find this annoying....yes, I do use keybinds but this is still another click and it has to be accurate.

Firstly, does anyone know if its possible to get rain of fire to just center on the current target?

Secondly, how much DPS will I be losing if I don't bother with the spell entirely.

TBH, at this point I'm thinking that I'll just go back to demo. I really don't like clicking the target area!

1) You can't focus it on a target. The target reticle must be used.

2) You won't lose much DPS if you don't keep it up. Try to keep it up during Dark Soul and Bloodlust to boost your Ember regeneration.

I guess I'll just suck it up. I'm still hoping for a Glyph of Rain of Fire/Anti-Hand of Guldan though!

You might know this already, but you gain a Rain of Fire buff while your Rain of Fire is up. This really helps if you want to set up a Weak Aura string to monitor its uptime.

Affdots does this as well. Only bad thing about stacking Haste is having to reapply Rain of Fire so much.

RoF is dps loss because you arent a robot that can keep it up all fight unless there is 2 or more targets.

You can keybind your rain of fire to a key close to your hand as I do. Then just have it clicked a second or so before your current spell ends and shouldn't lose any time between casting other spells. For example I use my arrow keys to move being left handed. I have rain of fire on the 2 key of the key pad. I hit it with my pinky fast enough that I dont waste any time. 1 on keypad is my stop cast and 0 i use as jump along with space bar. its always next to my movement keys.

It's just something to get used it. I have seen some nice dps increase by keeping it up. I have high haste as zagam mentioned so have to use it often. It gets pretty normal after a few runs.

I've gotten used to casting it inbetween incinerate spam sessions, or between chaos bolts. Bear, it's not a dps loss in any way, just not a huge gain unless you're set up to get embers falling from the heavens with it.
