bjanssen 1 Report post Posted May 4, 2016 Hi all I've been playing for a long time and while I know I'm not elite I used to be decent. However as we've progressed in heroic HFC my dps has steadily fallen behind the rest of the aid and now I'm putting out two thirds of the dps I should be. I've read everything here and Noxic and EJ and now I'm just confused. As far as I can tell I don't think I'm doing much wrong - but to be that far down in dps I must be doing something fundamentally bad. I haven't got logs sorry (I'll start getting them). This is my gear and talents http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/dathremar/Arneus/advanced From reading here I have a couple of specific questions 1 I'm not sure if I should use EmpDS when it procs or not (I have been) 2 Should I be using SoT or SoR, I thought SoT but Conquest suggests otherwise 3 Should I cast AW before ES or the other way around (why?) 4 Should I cast AW on cooldown or wait between casts to let the T18 4 piece contribute dps? 5 Should I use Seraphim on cooldown, I do but not always synchronised with AW 6 Should I be trying to switch targets to apply censure or stay on one target to let the libram buff stack. This is confusing since the Empty Drinking Horn suggests I should dot everything. I guess the most confusing thing is none of the above seem like things that would drop my dps by a third. But the fact is I'm doing bad dps now and I feel bad. Thanks for any help
Oreoxd 165 Report post Posted May 4, 2016 1. You should be using EmpDS when it procs in all 2 target + situations immediately when it procs as long as you have FV buff up, if using Sera, only use immediately when 3+ targets are present. If there is only one target, only use it when it's about to expire. 2. You should be using SoR in almost every situation if you are using Empty Drinking Horn, with the exception of 100% single target fights. The reason for this is because the cleave from SoR applies fel burn stacks to everything it hits and attempting to keep censure up on multiple targets provides an inevitable dps loss due to fel burn stacks ending up weird. 3. ES then AW, this is due to the fact that ES doesn't immediately deal damage, so if you pop ES, then AW you not only get the full effect of ES during AW, you also get the full 4pc effect on your ES. 4. You should be lining every AW cast up with ES, outside of that try to line up your AW casts with ring, waiting for ring to pop your burst leads to far more dps than popping it on CD 100% of the time. 5. If using Sera, especially on fights where ring gets held, sometimes you're going to have to make it not line up or even wait for ring to pop sera. It's a difficult thing to master, and more difficult to explain without context. 6. See number 2 answer. As for Libram buff, you should be using a focus CS macro for that. #showtooltip Crusader Strike /cast [@focus, exists][]Crusader Strike
bjanssen 1 Report post Posted May 5, 2016 Thanks so much for that. I'll apply the advice and see what happens. A little confused about the answer to 6 Did you mean I should be using a focus macro to apply CS to a focus target as well as the main target?
Kickemman 3 Report post Posted May 5, 2016 Basically you would have this macro to have it where you cs will always hit the same target, letting you maintain the 3 stacks of the trinket (You want 100% uptime on this)
bjanssen 1 Report post Posted May 6, 2016 Ah I see. So I can run around like a mad thing smacking/interrupting/stunning all the adds while still stacking this onto my main target. That seems so obvious now that you've explained it, doh!
ForumWarrior 5 Report post Posted May 7, 2016 The first answer is great, but i want to add something. You want to use EmpDS proc always with FV buff and if: 1. Proc is about to expire or 2. The number of targets is about to decrease due to death of any of them. Your goal is to always have available skills, so you need to try to use generators first if they are available and if it will not affect your damage.
