Malygos was at 4/8 and Lightbomb should have made him punch himself for 4. What happened?

Am I correct in thinking that it was the caster's Malygos? The +5 spell damage applies to lightbomb, so he hit himself for 9.

When I read the title, I was hoping for a joke. Oh well, Blainie is right, you can also see that it killed the Clerics as well. Similar behaviour can be seen with Flurry or Shadowflame.
