gear help

Hello all.  First time poster here and back into wow after a seven year layoff.    My question is I just entered the dark portal and I am starting the quest line.  Right before going in I socketed all crit/agi gems to my purple 489 gear I acquired in Pandaria.   I noticed that right away a quest award this new zone is 505 blue with more stats.

Should I just now replace all gear as it comes along?   I apologize in advance if the answer is glaringly apparent.

Generally, yes, while leveling simply use the highest ilvl pieces.

You will need the high item level to join the hero instance and LFR.

What item level are we talking her to join the heron instance and LFR?

For warlords of draenor stuffs: ilvl 610 for heroic dungeons, 630 for LFR Highmaul, 640 for LFR Blackrock Foundry, and 655 for LFR Hellfire Citadel.  And of course character level 100.
