Leaked Auriel Abilities

Auriel, Archangel of Hope joins the Nexus on August 9. Here's a preview of her abilities.

Now that Gul'dan's live, it's time to look at Auriel, Archangel of Hope that is targeted for release on August 9. What we know thus far from the leaks is that she has an ability to resurrect an ally. All of her abilities are now available and you can preview them below.

Please note that ability descriptions may be inaccurate and can change at any given stage of the dev process so take them with a grain of salt.

Auriel Abilities

Trait

  • Bestow Hope
    • Gather Hope stacks whenever Auriel deals damage with Angelic Sweep or Auriel's allies deal damage under the effect of Angelic Flight. A maximum of 50 Hope stacks can be stashed. Hope stacks are used for healing.

Basic Abilities

  • Ray of Heaven [Q] - costs 40 Mana, has no cooldown
    • Heal a target ally or near allies with 10 (+4% per level) for each stack of Hope.

  • Angelic Sweep [W] - costs 60 Mana, 8 second cooldown
    • Deals 200 (+4% per level) damage to all enemies caught in the cone between her ribbons. Non-heroic enemy hit grants 2 stacks of Hope and Hero hits grant 6 stacks of Hope.

  • Restraining Blow [E] - costs 50 Mana, 14 second cooldown
    • Knockback a target, dealing 95 (+4% per level) damage, revealing them for 4 seconds. If the target collides with terrain, they will be stunned for 2 seconds.

Secondary (Active) Abilities

  • Angelic Flight (Key 1), 45 second cooldown
    • Activate to teleport to an ally, buffing him for 3 seconds. While under the effect of Angelic Flight, friendly allies grant 5 stacks of Hope for each 50 damage dealt.
    • The buff's effect will be chosen in Level 1 talents.
    • This ability may very well be used instead of a mount.

Heroic Abilities [R]

  • Resurrect [R1] - costs 80 mana, 80 second cooldown
    • Resurrect a downed ally near you to full Health within 4 seconds. If unsuccessful, the target ally will remain downed and will normally respawn.
    • Has a four second window interval, similar to Tyrael's timer before exploding.

  • Ribbon Cocoon [R2] - costs 70 Mana, 80 second cooldown
    • Wrap a target ally in a healing cocoon for up to 5 seconds, healing him for 150 (+4% per level) Health per second. The ally cannot move and be targeted during the effect of this spell. You can cancel the ability by pressing the [R] key again.

Talents

Not much is known about talents yet, but here are those you pick at Level 1 to empower your aura. (Active Ability).

  • Angelic Light
    • Angelic Flight grants a target ally a shield of 300 (+4% per level) for 3 seconds. While under the effect, he grants Auriel 5 Hope stacks for each 50 damage dealt.
  • Angelic Bravery
    • Angelic Flight grants a target ally 30% Attack Speed for 3 seconds. While under the effect, he grants Auriel 5 Hope stacks for each 50 damage dealt.
  • Angelic Aura
    • Angelic Flight grants a targeet ally 50% ability damage reduction for 3 seconds. While under the effect, he grants Auriel 5 Hope stacks for each 50 damage dealt.

Morales was the last support that was added to the game, now it's time to add another one! Auriel's playstyle looks promising, what do you think?

Whole concept of Deal DMG / Heal DMG is fine and for currently argo teams suits well. 4 second Ressurect cast time... in teamfight hard to use in other cases pretty solid but not knowing lvl 20 talents is a little bit problematic to tell which ultimate is better. Second thing there are no corpses in HotS and with crazy ragdol models how the ressurection process will go is a big question. Third that addition ability teleport range. Map / half map  or shotter distance.. Anyway new support blood is always good. With Mediev "strange" kit this one seems fine.

I think they should add supports who are more utility/CC instead of just healing. Maybe make some heroes who are clearly inspired by for example Lion or Shadow Shaman from Dota 2 etc.

Oops! It seems that these abilities are just a theory concept/speculation and not the actual ones. Some guy had posted his theory concept on Heroesfire and a Korean site went ahead and presented them as the actual 'leaked Auriel abilities'.

Technically, Medivh was the latest support hero added to the game... 

 

edit: my bad, I keep thinking Medivh was a support character, but he's listed as a specialist even though in game they monitor support stats and he plays more like a support...   whatever, so kinda the most recent support??

Not entirely true, while some information may be inaccurate, some abilities described here are even previewed in the in-dev video posted a while ago, while her Heroic has been leaked since May.

Technically even her trait is in place as it perfectly fits the latest Hero description from the latest PTR build.

  • Hero/Description/Auriel=A ranged Support whose healing capabilities are dependent on the damage she and her allies deal.

Of course, you need to take leaked information with a grain of salt...

The ability names and Auriel's description are definitely correct, since they were datamined. We also knew about the Resurrect and the previewed abilities in the in-development video. It's just the description of the rest of the other abilities that is made-up.

I actually made an article about Auriel's datamined abilities, but I messed up with the image formatting and it never made the front page hehe

It's not 4 second cast time, it's a 4 second window after the ally dies to ressurect them.

Doubt that, since the discription tells exacly the opposite. it ressurects the ally within 4 seconds, which means this is a 4 second cast time. Even if not it will have a cast time anyway cause  i dont believe in instant resurrect, everything that has some hard healing has cast timers or delays. Reghars Healing, Dehakas Adaptation and so on. That is proven by the second part of the ability description - if not succesful.... Means that there is a possibility to interrupt.

      A new Heroes of the Storm patch is now available for playtesting on the PTR with many Hero changes and bug fixes. Check out the official PTR notes for more details!
