Guest Dire Stable error

The tooltip used here for Dire Stable does not match the in game tooltip. Specifically, in game it says that Dire Stable affects Dire Frenzy, not Dire Beast. If the in game information is correct, then Dire Stable is only beneficial if you take Dire Frenzy. Does anyone have clarification?

In game tooltips update themselves according to your talent choices, so if you have the Dire Frenzy talent the Dire Stable tooltip will show the different info than if you didn't have the Dire Frenzy talent.

The guide says about the legendary ring Apex Predators Claw: "If you get this legendary, however, you should use a Tenacity pet as it is very slightly stronger.  Remember to turn off Thunderstomp's autocast."

1. I assume if you turn off Thunderstomp's autocast that you should not be using Thunderstomp at all?  Is this because of the threat it generates or is it a dps loss somehow?

2. Why is a tenacity pet slightly stronger if not using Thunderstomp?  Is it because Charge is better than Dash&Rabid?  Another reason?

3. If you don't have the legendary ring is a tenacity pet still stronger?

1) It costs focus and does next to no damage, does not appear to be worth it. Can't be simmed atm.
2) Charge is a DPS increase. This is in the tooltip of Charge.
3) No.

Guest BM Hunter

Is the legendary BM belt able to be quantified down to a +DPS number for the effect? I'm wondering if the 20% focus reduction during BW is a flat XX% dps upgrade.

You can infer this from the legendary simulations in the guide.

This also includes the damage bonus from the belt itself with the stats and higher iLvl than the 865 BiS belt that the sim is using.

Guest who

hi, is there any point in holding off using DB procs? or is it one of those where you smash asap (assuming BW isn't close to coming off cd)?

thanks

If you have Titan's Thunder (Artifact Gold Trait), it might be better to wait on a DB use if it's about to come off CD so that you can get the full 8s effect. Other than that, it's like you said: if BW is about to come off CD (I don't know the exact number but I go with <5s), I save a DB until I hit BW.

Guest What's happening

Is the Azortharion that was banned on the MMO-Champion forums the same one that runs this guide?

I see a lot of cross-talk between here and there for Sim and Theory-crafting, wondering if that will affect anything...

Yes, it's the same person.  No that doesn't disqualify him any.  He might be a dick, but he's a smart dick.

Thanks for all your work azor.

it looks like devisaurs bite was removed from the trinket list, probly because of the normally low ilvl, however since the bump to wq ilvls i picked up an 860 one.  I used it in ToV and heroic EN and its procs equaled or surpassed my 860 oakhearts (worst luck with trinks).  I think with the mastery increase from the ilvl increase and the proc doing good damage you might consider putting it up back up if you can sim it at that level. Also, though not relevant to boss fights, the devilsaur proc also procs sephus secret, kinda nice for myths and trash.

also in the rotation section it still warns about killer cobra not proccing until cobra lands.

Guest who

hi, when aoe'ing under the effects of BW, is there any point in using CoS to reset KC (with Killer Cobra slotted)? or do we just stick to the priorities?

thanks

Unfortunately, there isn't much that we can tell you from just seeing your item level. Your best bet is to post a log in the Hunter forum of you playing and allow your fellow hunters to help out with what you are doing wrong. As it stands, we know absolutely nothing about what you are doing.

I don't see why this would be an issue. If you feel that you would benefit more from other stats, simply sim your own character. It will give you a basic idea of whether you should push for another stat, at least for a little bit.

Guest Gwen

Thank you very much for this guide.  I've been following it since I created my hunter mid-WoD.  I have a few questions about stats and relics that I've asked in-game of various hunters and  no one seems to be able to provide an answer.  I'll try to be succinct. ;)

1.  Ilvl - 864.  Current stats:  Mastery - 84%, Haste - 8%, Crit - 34%.  I have noticed a very slow Focus regen with this haste level.  I do have Sephuz's Ring and I switched my talent to Intimidation to take advantage of it -- but while I do have nice haste bursts because of it -- overall, the regen is slow.  Should I increase my haste, and if so, how much?  (I thought perhaps 10%?)  I also just picked up a new piece of gemmable gear - wondering if I should now gem haste instead of mastery.

2.  Current Relics:  1 Pack Leader, 2 Furious Swipes.  To increase my ST damage, I thought I would remove one Swipes and go for either 2 Pack Leaders or Jaws of Thunder.  As it is taking me forever to get either one of these -- would it be a good idea to go with 1 Pack and 1 Jaws?  Or should it really be 2 of either Pack or Jaws.

Any help you can provide in answering these questions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Bit late here, but:

The stat priority details Haste as the #2 stat for BM, after Mastery. You have way too much Crit I think.

Are these all the same item level that you are considering for replacement?

When ever I sim myself I always get haste being my best secondary by quite a bit relatively. Only time mastery is ahead is when I sim for multiple targets, anyone else getting the same sims?

The stat weights you receive will be changed by what your current gear setup is. For example, if you have 100% of Mastery, Haste and Crit (BM's top 3 stats), but 0% of Versatility (BM's worst stat), SimC will weight you heavily towards getting some Vers.

It can change entirely depending on where you are gear-wise. The general priority and stat weights are basically looking at trying to average out the possible differences between item levels and seeing which stat peforms best at every item level.

We have another triple entry in the hotfix ledger, as Radiant Echoes gets more improvements in retail, while Season of Discovery and Cata Classic get additional class changes.
       August 7  (Source)
      Player-characters
Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena. Quests
We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed. Radiant Echoes Event
Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event. Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe. Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros). Season of Discovery
Hunter Heart of the Lion once again has a 100 yard range. Warrior The Focused Rage rune will now correctly reduce the cost of Meathook by 3. Cataclysm Classic
Fixed an issue where Faerie Fire did not deal intended amounts of threat when used on NPCs targeting another unit.

Due to a bug introduced with the War Within pre-patch, some players are receiving item level 250 gear from the weekly cache.
We've seen numerous reports on Reddit and the official forums that the Last Hurrah weekly quest on live servers drop low-level gear for some players. Apparently, the bug was first introduced with the War Within pre-patch two weeks ago and still hasn't been fixed.
Here's an example of a low item level drop from the Cache of Awakened Treasures by Omnifox.

Week 2 brings quite a few changes, as Hunters in particular rise up, while Shadow has a really bad time. The top 3 remains the same and very consistent, so let's jump in and see what's going on.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top 3 remains quite stable with the Evoker-Paladin-Warrior trio reigning supreme. We see the first change of the week right after that though, as Frost DK continues its upward march in dungeons as well as in raids, taking 4th from Elemental. Both DKs are on the rise, as Unholy also moves a spot up, taking advantage of Shadow's precipitous 5-spot fall to the bottom of the top 10. Arms remains stable as two Hunters burst in, Beast Mastery taking 8th and Marksmanship 9th, as Frost Mage disappears down towards the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, Devastation gets some new roommates there, as Outlaw and Destruction fall and give Enhancement and Feral a break.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
As with the top percentiles, the top 3 remains solid, but 4th is immediately changed, thanks to Shadow's massive drop in performance this week. The Priest loses even more ground here, falling 9 spots into 13th, opening 4th up for Arms. Beast Mastery moves even higher here, grabbing 5th and moving in front of Elemental and Frost DK, as Marksmanship brings up the rear and completes the Hunter sandwich in 8th. Affliction breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Unholy which dropped to the final spot.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Frost DK finds itself on top in the raw DPS rankings, as Augmentation isn't calculated properly here. Fury and Arms grab the next two spots, moving ahead of Ret, and the Fyr'alath wins continue in 5th, where Unholy finished the legendary axe streak. Even Survival joins the Hunter good times in 8th, where all three specs gather, just ahead of Balance who closes out the top 10.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides (updated for the pre-patch), as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

How to Get the Spirit of Eche'ro Mount
      1. Download MapCoords or some other add-os that displays coordinates in the game.
      2. Teleport to Azsuna from the Stormwind/Orgrimmar Portal Room or use your Dalaran Hearthstone to reach Dalaran (Legion) if you have one in your inventory.
      3. Seek out Archaeology Trainer Dariness the Learned in Dalaran at 41,26 and learn Archaeology if you already haven't.

MoP Remix characters that will transfer over to retail will receive a gear boost!
With Patch 11.0.2 now live on Public Test Realms, you can copy over MoP Remix characters from retail! It appears all MoP Remix characters will receive a character boost so you can dive straight into action when the War Within expansion launches.

We can't unfortunately log in to the game with the MoP Remix char on the PTR so we can't confirm the Item Level of gear for max level characters. However, keep in mind that the gear boost will scale with your level, so if you're below max cap, you will receive gear appropriate to your current level.
When Can We Expect MoP Remix Characters to Transfer to Retail?
MoP Remix ends on August 19, so we assume the characters will need to be transferred to retail by August 22 when Early Access begins.
