why not a wild deck?

The deck you should play contains wild cards. This way you have way more options and you will have much easier fight.

The decks that your opponents use are in standard only, but that is just a design choice and I do not know why exactly has Blizzard decided to follow that design.

A few observations from my many failed attempts to beat this on my own...

Nazra has a different decklist for Heroic. I have taken note of the following changes:

-2 Injured Blademaster

-2 Raid Leader

-2 Razorfen Hunter

-2 Power of the Horde

-2 Frostwolf Warlord

+2 Execute

+2 Upgrade!

+2 Slam

+2 Warsong Commander

+2 Looming Presence

You can double check me on those, but I'm pretty sure it's right.

I experimented with Loatheb on the turn before the auto-cast Twisting Nether. If played just before, it will delay the board clear, but only for one turn. Melchezaar will still play it the next chance he gets, even if it destroys his own minions. Another interesting observation is that he will sometimes lead with Shadow Bolt Volley if it will give him lethal, and if the 3-target condition is met. In one of my attempts, he opted for that spell rather than the Twisting Nether.

I give up trying to defeat this ridiculous boss encounter all by my own! I will now implement the deck/strategies suggested on here...

Success! Thank you to everyone at Icy Veins for the Anyfin Can Happen build/strategy.

Even with the suggested deck, it took me 7 attempts. I was lacking two cards- Lay on Hands and a Murloc Warleader. I added 2x Moat Lurkers in their places to possibly use on Murloc Warleader or Ragnaros to respawn him after the board clear. It wasn't enough. After 5 losses, I decided to craft the second Murloc Warleader. I left one Moat Lurker in place of Lay on Hands. In the win, I used Moat Lurker's battlecry on a Murloc Warleader to give me an extra one on the board after Twisting Nether. Worked out pretty well!

5500 dust qualifies as cheap?

In this context, yes. "Cheap" is not to be taken literally, but rather as "cheapest Sottle could make the deck and still consistently win against the boss".

Most bosses can be defeated in heroic mode with (almost) Basic decks, but you'll need some insane RNG at times.

We decided to remove "Cheap" from the title as it apparently causes confusion. 5,5k dust is a lot for newer players, so it might seem that "Cheap" is a clickbait, but the reason for "Cheap" to be in the name is that, just like Keizoku said, it is cheaper than most of decks used for consistent victory in heroic mode. Another consistent option for clearing this boss are N'Zoth, the Corruptor decks, mainly for paladin, but their cost starts at 9k dust and usually  goes up to 15k dust.

Thanks, beat it after restarting a few times for a  good opener.  Was missing a Murloc Warleader so I used Old Murk Eye in it's place.  Had to draw all 30 cards to get what I needed before starting the next phase, but it was easy since I still had an equality and consecration combo.  Didn't even really need the 2nd Anyfin after my board clear.

Can anybody explain how you're supposed to survive long enough to go through the deck? There aren't any early minions that can kill her minions, and the only board clears require two cards and by the time you have the cards and mana for them she has already dominated the board and left you with no health.

And if somehow you survive long enough to play your big minions, she either kills them on the next turn with her spells, or she uses a weapon and pretty much kills herself way before you're ready.

Don't be afraid to restart for better draws. If you have a bad start, drop it and restart.

You need those early murlocs, such as the Bluegill, to get straight onto board ASAP. As the guide states, Bluegill + BoW can start really well, given that it allows you to draw into the other murlocs you need.

Use them to keep her occupied while throwing your removals out freely. You're not looking to beat Malchezaar by clearing his board. You want to simply Anyfin and kill him. To make this work, use your murlocs to trade with as much of Nazra's pressure as possible.

As soon as you have your murlocs out early, you can start healing yourself back up and simply waiting to draw Anyfin. Once you have both, transition and win!

But the early minions get killed immediately while hers survive, and when minions like sludge belcher that can kill her minions get played, she kills then immediately. Then she has a full board and a ton of armor and you're left with no more minions to kill her with even if you wipe the board.

But even surviving to that point is almost impossible for me since consecration only does 2 damage so a board clear can't happen until like turn 6, where you're taking a minimum of 18 damage that turn

Is there any chance you can show me either a written or video record of a normal attempt for you? I can probably help a lot more after seeing what's going wrong and if it is simply RNG, misplays or the deck.

I am trying to beat the Karazhan expansion without crafting new cards, and I've been really struggling with this boss especially since I cannot make this deck at all due to having no murloc warleaders or control paladin class in general.

Is there a deck that is worth trying to beat this boss that contains only commons and rares from the wotog/classic set? Even if the winrate is lower I do not mind, I just want a deck that has a reasonable chance of beating this boss in less than 5 hours without having to waste dust on getting new cards.

Do you have the necessary cards to build something like a Control C'thun Priest? You just stall and stall until you push Malch over, then C'thun and smash boss.

It might be worth looking into, you can make a pretty cheap deck. I'll find a decklist for you.

I skip the first turn and play the charge Murloc on the second, then she either uses fiery war axe and kills it or uses the minion with "deal one damage to a minion and give it two attack" to kill it. On the next turn I use the other murloc card and she kills it with "bash" and attacks me.

If I have a card for turn 4 it's usually the weapon so I'll kill one of her minions because there are a few by now, and she'll get more on her turn and attack again. Turn 5 I'll play sludge belcher to try and get her to kill her minions on it, but she normally kills it with a weapon instead.

turn 6 I usually have a clear by now so I wipe the board and she plays more minions and attacks and gets my health within lethal range so I use a heal card in turn 7.

Turn 8 I use ragnaros if I have it, I'm back under 10 health but he heals 8 health every turn. She almost always kills him with a bash and her big weapon on the next turn.

The cards I'll have at this point are usually anyfin can happen, consecration, lay on hands, and maybe a few cards that reduce a minions attack to 1 but have no way to avoid lethal on her turn.

I don't have much experience with control paladin though, so I'm sure I am doing something completely wrong. I just don't know how to keep my minions alive

So, just a few thoughts:

  • You can board clear as early as turn 4 if you need to (Pyro + Equality)
  • Solemn Vigil can be combined with the combo above to refresh your hand.
  • Ivory Knight can just gift you more board clears, as well as another Anyfin with a +10 heal.
  • I would advise use your mulligan to completely push for early game. Ignore everything that you MIGHT need later on, such as Rag or Tirion. Push for that early clear and draw as much as you can.

So, here's the advice/list as promised:

  • You are building an ultra control Priest, with the aim of stalling until your C'thun is buffed beyond belief.
  • When you are ready, play Emperor to reduce Brann and C'thun.
  • Transition into Malch, then play both.
  • If you don't have any of the cards, let me know and I'll do my best to give a suggestion for replacement.

Hearthstone is taking a bold step into the StarCraft universe with "Heroes of StarCraft: The Great Dark Beyond," a 49-card mini-set launching in January 2025.
Featuring iconic factions like Zerg, Protoss, and Terran, complete with legendary leaders Sarah Kerrigan, Artanis, Jim Raynor, this set blends StarCraft nostalgia with Hearthstone's gameplay.
Additionally, Arena Mode is getting a massive overhaul, introducing shorter Normal Arena runs and a high-stakes Underground Arena with a game matching "re-draft on loss" mechanic, giving you the option to re-draft cards, edit your deck, and keep your run alive, after you lose.
The year ahead promises 3 expansions, including the Emerald Dream's battle between Old Gods and Druids, a return to Un'Goro Crater, and a Chromie-led journey through alternate realities.

Hearthstone: Heroes of StarCraft – The Great Dark Beyond Mini-Set
Early next year, Hearthstone is going beyond Warcraft and into... Heroes of StarCraft! This special Mini-Set will have a whopping 49 new cards across three themed factions, which show what the StarCraft universe would look like in the Hearthstone Tavern. Each faction is made up of cards that can be used across multiple classes, including an iconic Hero card.
       Zerg
Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock have joined the Zerg! Led by the formidable  Sarah Kerrigan, they will have aggressive cards that win the game by swarming the board.
       Protoss
Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue fight for the Protoss Empire. Led by the High Templar Artanis, they will have powerful, high-cost cards that are made cheaper throughout the game.
       Terran
Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior make up the Terran forces, led by the one and only Jim Raynor. They will command Battlecruisers—a special take on the Starship mechanic from The Great Dark Beyond.
The Mini-Set will feature a slew of StarCraft units which are sure to invoke nostalgia, as well as the Terran-armored Murloc, Grunty, and new, thematic music. You can chart a course for the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, launching in January 2025! More announcements, details, and card reveals are coming closer to launch.
       Major Arena Updates
Then, for the first time in 10 years, Arena Mode is getting a major overhaul. With that update, there will be two kinds of Arena to choose from. Normal Arena will be shorter form, allowing you to complete your runs more quickly. Competitive Arena players will be able to play in the higher-stakes Underground Arena, with longer runs and a new feature: Re-Draft on Loss. Re-Draft on Loss means that, after you lose, you’ll have the option to re-draft cards, edit your deck, and keep your run alive.
Ratings will also be added to both Normal and Underground Arena. Normal, skill-based matchmaking will be used for Normal Arena. Underground Arena throws caution to the wind and lets you face off against opponents of all skill levels.
This major Arena revamp is coming in the first half of next year. Look out for more details about this update closer to when it goes live.
A Preview of the Year Ahead: The Year of the Raptor!
On top of those updates, Hearthstone has an exciting year of expansions ahead, with much-requested themes, locations, and familiar faces across Azeroth.
In the first expansion of the year, enter the Emerald Dream and join the battle between the Old Gods and the Druids of the Emerald Dream for the fate of the World Tree. Things will heat up even more when the Druids of the Flame light up the Mini-Set (releasing earlier than normal this year, during the 32.2 Patch).
The second expansion of the year will be Hearthstone’s first-ever sequel: the return to Un’Goro Crater! Join Elise on a hunt for a mythical, lost Tortollan city. When you find it, join the Tortollans in a festival to celebrate the mighty dinosaurs of the crater in the 33.4 Mini-Set.
In the third expansion of the year, travel with Chromie through alternate realities to recruit Legendary Warcraft heroes like you’ve never seen them before. Leading to the 34.4 Mini-Set: an epic showdown against Murozond at the end of time!
