New to demon hunter and my dps is BLEEEEH

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

My name is Leeroyo! from Frostmourne and I'm new to the demon hunter class after taking a expansion off, going from Rogue to DH seems to be a difficult transition because I wanted to mobility trade off (but it feels like Rogue are still way more mobile haha)

Anyway my spec with a 835 Item level:
Fel Mastery - 99
Prepared -100
Bloodlet - 102
Soul Rending - 102
Momentum - 106
Master of the Glaive - 108
Fel Barrage - 110

I'm going for the stats recommend by icy veins for Havoc demon hunters. However, this is where all the list of questions come.

Is this spec the optimal spec to maximise damage?
I was thinking of using demon blades just so I don't have to spam demon bite as much but this makes it a little more reactive then using demon bite.

What is the dps rotation for demon hunters for single target dps? I've been trying to follow to recommended by icy veins on DH page.

What is the Multiple target dps rotation for demon hunters? This one I'm not as worried about as I hit 600k dps normal on 3 targets.

When I throw my glaive with bloodlet, do I need to wait till it stops ticking to refresh it? will I lose dps?

Momentum...I understand you get the buff and you cast all you abilities to get the maximum dps but is there anyway to have more constant dps? or is Momentum just outweighs any use of nemesis?

Cheers guys!

Hopefully someone can help.  :S

Leeroyo

Personally I have found the build they recommend and its reliance on demon blades to be horrible for DPS. Slowly waiting for your auto-attacks to build fury, using demon blades, while fighting a raid boss...rather than being able to hit demon bite and actively gather fury means less fury, which means less Chaos Strike or Annihilation which means less over all DPS.

After raiding last week and this week, and using warcraft logs to compare my DPS and build (based off the Icy Veins recommendation) versus other DH's at my same iLevel, Im respeccing today back to demon bites.

Hi,

My overall gear score is at 857 at the moment. I followed the Stat priority on Icy veins (Agi>Crit>Vers>Haste>Mastery) as good as possibly. My current stats are 49,5% crit, 7% Vers, 4% Haste, 14% Mastery.

I also followed the spec recommended and played around a bit. Currently I am using:

Fel Mastery

Prepared

Bloodlet

Soul Rendering

Momentum

Master of the Glaive

Chaos Blades

I am doing decent AoE damage but when it comes to single target, my dps is around 180k - 190k which just sucks for my ilvl.

This is how I use my abilities:

"Fel Rush" in, use "Fury of the Ilidary" and "Throw Glaive" then "Vengeful Retreat" out and while in the air use second charge of "Throw Glaive". I build up Fury with "Demon Bite" then pop "Metamorphosis" and "Chaos Blades". Now I use up my fury by using "Annihilation". I use a combo of  "Fel Rush" and/or "Vengeful Retreat" in sync with "Throw Glaive" whenever possible and while on the mob I use "Demon Bite" + "Annihilation/Chaos Strike".

What am I missing here? I think I must be doing something fundamentally wrong.

Cheers for helping me out!

Im having the same problem Deathwing. According to our raid logs Im at 9% ranking of all Demon Hunters at my same iLevel. And Im pretty tight on getting the rotation down.

The problem with Momentum build is that is really dependant on how you dominate it, i believe. If you cant use it all the time it requires you wont see your dps going high... i have the same issue and now im going with nemesis build, more static, but at 863 ilvl get 220k dps is bad....

The Dark Swarm is looking for truly laid-back adults (18 and up) that want to have fun and be a part of a friendly, relaxed guild- perfect for people with the duties of full time jobs, families, and floating play time schedules due to the unpredictable availability life can cause.
We are always looking to meet new friends! We have an amazing group of people, and chat can be active in game and Discord (text), but we occasionally have lulls. Please be patient with us while we revitalize our roster!
Some things The Dark Swarm is:
► A guild who has been around since BC.
► A place for fun, mature people. You must be 18+ to join. Sense of humor strongly recommended ☺
► A guild interested in enjoying the game in our own ways. Some of us like to PvP, others like to run heroics, mythic+, and raids. Some like to level characters and professions, some love to collect things and camp rares. We welcome all styles of gameplay.
Some things The Dark Swarm is not:
► A raiding guild. If you are looking to raid on a team regularly, we are not for you. We have no interest in organizing progression raids for current content any longer. Any raiding outside of older content is done through PuGs/ LFG.
► A leveling guild. We accept characters of all levels, but we are looking for people who want to make us their permanent home, not leave once capped and geared.
► A hardcore PvP guild. Some of us do Arenas and Rated Battlegrounds, but if you want a guild who is strictly PvP oriented, we will not be a fit for your interests.
The Dark Swarm is interested in:
► Creating a tight- knit family of players who like to have a good time. Not a social butterfly? That's ok! If you are more comfortable with shutting off chat and just having a safe place for your characters, that is perfectly fine- we will be here for you if you want to interact or have questions.
► Guild events. We have had events in the past, and would be open to it again.
► Achievements. We enjoy getting groups together for achievements including metas for mounts, and guild achievements.
► Past content; we like to go back into some older content for fun from time to time as well. Examples are guild OS3D to get people Drakes, or BC raids for Transmog gear.
► Fun; most importantly, continue to be a relaxed environment to hang out in and meet fun people. Play when you want, the way you want.

      Other Info:
      ▪ We have a Community of the same name for Cross- Faction invites. Don't forget to select 'cross- faction' in the search filter!
      ▪ We are listed in the Guild Finder for easy invites!
      ▪ We use Discord for voice/text.  We are NOT active in our voice chats. Voice is generally only used when needed for groups or events, but are always available for members to use.

Raid/Class Spots Are Open To Any Applicant If The Player Is The Right Fit
A guild formed with an ambition for progression and a love for M+ we decided to make the move from Silvermoon Alliance and form a guild to take our focus to the next level, Cutting Edge in 10.1 being the next step.
We believe in building a guild by recruit players of a similar goal and mentality whether it be for raiding or for push score in Mythic plus. We value loyalty, honesty and a positive attitude towards setbacks. Communication skills are an absolute must.
      Raid Schedule
      Wednesday 20:30-23:00 Sunday 20:30-23:00
      Current Progression
      9/9HC 5/9M
What are we looking for recruitment wise?
We're currently open to recruiting DPS classes listed above, as we aim to solidify a stable 25-player roster. We're looking to provide competition to existing members and choose the best 25 players to proceed with for next tier.
      Contact Information:
      Discord; tomsen and lora1506
Think you'd be a good fit?
If you believe that you are a player that is looking to achieve the same goals as us then why not contact us and see if we can achieve our goals together!

<Fun is for Casuals> is a serious but casual horde guild on US-Hyjal. We are serious about raiding without the intense hours. Even when recruitment status is none, we will accept exceptional applications for all classes.
Our raid times are Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30PM to 8:30PM server (PST) with raid invitations sent out a few minutes prior to that.
We're interested in you if you fit the following criteria:
Raid attendance is essential. We don't want people sitting on the bench but we also want to make sure we're raiding 6 hours per week. We expect you to be available for at least 90% of our raids. Be on time and prepared for raids. This includes flasks and other consumables. Discord is mandatory and a working mic is desired. You're appropriately geared for our current content. Effort and thought have been put into your gear/gem/enchant choices. You wouldn't show up for a job interview looking like a *filtered*, why would you apply to a guild with improper gems or some insane spec? You're up to date with your class. We expect our raiders to perform to the best of their abilities. You have a computer that's not run with hamster power or requires a hand crank. Some encounters are taxing on a computer's resources so if your toon can't even handle Orgrimmar it's not likely to do well with 20+ whelps that need AOE'ing. You may be interested in us because:
<Fun is for Casuals> uses the personal loot system. There is no loot council, or DKP. We won't eat your babies the first time you stand in something you have no business being in. Repeatedly do it and we'll break out the bibs and BBQ sauce. We provide a limited amount of consumables and flasks on hard mode raid nights.  Discord isn't a circus during raids. We're focused on the job at hand and you should be too. We don't want someone to miss a an interrupt because they were distracted by fart jokes. We are not interested in you if you fit the following criteria:
You roll on BoE items then sell them. Unwilling/unable to spend an entire evening on one boss during progression. While this is rare, it can happen. Drama queens. If you have a problem bring it up to E. This is his job. Don't announce it in guild chat or during a raid. Your issue will have nothing to do with 99% of the guild. You are 17 or younger. We try to keep guild and discord chat PG-13 but occasionally a few four letter words appear out of nowhere. Additionally, we don't want someone's mom interrupting their raiding to get homework or the dishes done. Follow the instructions at https://gow.gg/fun-is-for-casuals under the Recruitment tab if you would like to apply.
